Tony S  (29 July 2007)        10/10

As a family that has been frequenting and using Mike & Jans both at Takis and at Mikalis over the past 15 years, we were both shocked and saddened by the news that Jan had passed away. Like most of there customers once you had used there restaurant once you became part of the family and were treated as such . Thanks, Jan for your company and  for those evenings putting the world to rights
Our thoughts are with Mike at this difficult time.

Linda C  (18 July 2005)

Hi there Mike, Jan and Susie

Just a note to say thank you very much for you brilliant service! We had many a meal here for the reasson our son was a very Picky eater and the Mikalis cooked food to what he wanted - most Greek resterants have tomato on a plain beefburger and son refused to eat it even after we removed it. All our meals here were brill!
At the time we were there the childrens main meal was free with and adult meal so took the pressure of children not eating a full meal and still having to pay for it. Very relaxed atmosphere, Children loved the chalk board to keep them entertained while meal was being prepared.
You must try out this place when in Tsilivi, it is located at the south end of town just before Metaxa Bar.
Thank you again to everyone at Mikalis maybe we will return again, if we do we will deffinately come and have our meals with you!!!

First time to Zante last October and we were truly made welcome by Mike & Jan - it was like have a meal round at a friends house. Good food (especially the sizzling dishes)and conversation - but you must stop telling those old jokes Mike :-)
Have just booked for this year again - so get the reserved sign on my table guys!

Finbarr   (05 October 2004)

We went there twice and it was only because the specials sounded so nice but both times it was a disappointment. The desserts were overpriced if you have three kids to feed and they only sold small bottles of water so you'd have to buy a few instead of one big one.

Helen C  (15 September 2004)

Just returned from a 3 night break in Zante. Mikalis restaurant offers a huge range of meals - something for everyone. Excellent, friendly service from Mike, Jan and their staff with good old fashioned home cooking on offer. If you fancy one of the "specials" get there early because they sell out quickly. Make sure you leave room for dessert - the apple crumble and custard and the cherry cheesecake are to die for. A visit to the toilets revealed spotlessly clean facilities along with some very witty poetry. We would go back to Zante just so we can eat here again.

Karen P  (27 August 2004)

mike and jan are great, nothing is too much trouble. The staff are all very friendly. Value for money :-), Wouldn't eat anywhere else 10/10.

Monika T  (25 July 2004)

One of our many visits to Tsilivi and we have used Mikalis for most of our meals because of its relaxed jovial atmosphere, good food and excellent service.
Can't understand the earlier comments about smoking at the table - we were outside in the open air!! If a non-smoking table is require, Mike will remove the ashtray :-))
Thanks all you guys for the great meals and hospitality.
PS. Best toilets in the village - and love the poetry behind the doors

Carol B  (25 June 2004)

Have just come back from a terrific honeymoon in Tsilivi, and the owners and staff and Mikalis greatly contributed to our enjoyment. Mike and Jan are very welcoming hosts, and the two girls (Sam and Tanya I think.....hope I've got that right!)couldn't do enough for us. So sorry to read the more negative comments about this place, but for anyone new reading this take it from us - THIS PLACE IS THE BUSINESS! We kept trying to get past it to try another restaurant, but each day we would see the "specials" board and say to each other "well perhaps we'll go somewhere else tomorrow....."! All the specials were excellent and their "Sizzlers" are to die for. We also enjoyed the starters - particularly the gorgeous battered mushrooms and the garlic bread with cheese (or the "GBCs" as Mike and Jan call them!). Definitely one of the best restaurants in Tsilivi. Thanks to all.

hope to see you in august take care ellen xxx

Bob E  (17 June 2004)

We believe that Mikalis cooks tghe best 'English' breakfast in Tsilvi, with English bacon, sausages and fresh mushrooms, not tinned. The service is excellent with breakfast on the table before you have finished your first coffee. As far as dinner is concerned, the food could not have been better. We have been to Tsilivi many times and believe that Mikalis is the best place for dinner, whether you eat English or Greek. Again, mushrooms with a dip were fresh mushrooms coated with batter - not frozen. Their plaice is probably the tastiest fish we have both ever eaten and my wife felt that the kalamari (squid) was superior to that served in the Greek restaurants. Mike's banter was greatly enjoyed by all and all credit is due to him, his wife Janet, and their staff for their superb food and service.

With regard to the comments regarding the owners and chef smoking at one of the tables, who says they may not smoke, provided it is not in the kitchen. The comments regarding some people looking not very clean are ridiculous, the owners, staff and premises are spotless.

Lorraine McNish, whose comments appeared on 1.1.04, was either in the wrong restaurant or maybe the comments were a plant by another restaurant jealous of Mikalis' reputation. Whatever the reason, it is a pity that Ms McNish has never learned to spell. TGhank you all at Mikalis for providing the great food that made our holiday.

Best regards,

Pat & Bob Evans

The commentators of June last year and New Years Day must have been either drunk or have an axe to grind.Perhaps both. I have eaten regularly at Mikalis` for several years now and everything has always been first-class. Tristan, the chef, cooks the best steak in town.

Jackie J  (14 May 2004)

Jackie,Beccy and janine really enjoyed Mikalis. We ate there every day. The staff were very freindly. We loved the chicken sizzler. You must go there and try it. Good portions. The staff made you feel right at home. Mike looks like Timmy Mallet. He probably does not appreciate me mentioning that.
All the best Love The Girls.

Conor F  (19 April 2004)

The food was da best mik was very nice also the breakfast was just like home

Lorraine M  (01 January 2004)

We were recommended to eat at Mikalis for the sunday roast and what a let down!the food was overcooked all tasteless!! all the vegetables tasted the same, potatoes starchy and mushy the beef was very tough and bland, i was very disgusted to see the chef come out from the kitchen to smoke at the table next to us!! also the owners were sat there chain smoking while we ate!! they did not look clean people!the only good aspect of the whole evening was the service given by the two very nice young ladies Laura and Susie who looked after us very well! these girls were definately put upon and overworked! we shall however be returning to Tsilivi but not to Mikalis! good luck girls!!!

Tony S  (04 October 2003)

Nothing to much trouble, always a friendly welcome, food very good and price very keen. Have been going to Tsilivi for 11 years and using Mike & Jans for the last 9, that speaks for itself.
