Argassi Resort

Resorts in Zante

Emma B

i had great fun in argassi this year i may be going next year

Abby B

Argassi is a small resort but there is plenty to do,lots of resturants, bars, nice walks, shops etc
Although it is a small resort everything is to hand so you dont waste time walking/getting taxis etc all the time,we liked it a lot!!
Its a good place to go with a mate or in a couple as when we went there was  mixed age groups which was great.
The only complaint i have is our complex was mainly occupied by 30 years and upwards and during our second week, for some reason  two rooms were occupied by youths (age about 18-20 years!) who were noisy and a total pain!!!

Gemma B

We stayed at the captains hotel the accomadation looked nothing like it did in the brochure it was very very basic and smelt of damp. The pool was o.k although if you want comfort when sun bathing it cost you a euro every day for a cushion and the pool bar food is over priced and not the best.Confused

The resort itself i liked you have every thing you need in walking distance at its not short of places to eat or drink. I came across the famous peter  of peters restaurant i didnt find him that bad if your polite to him its not a problem he made me laugh. We ate alot at the green frog the food is value for money and alot of it also try sweet and salty their burgers are superb aswell as the caramel milkshakes. The public transport is a bit hit or miss but its all part of the adventure the one day we caught a bus from argassi to lagana and we couldnt get back we had to catch a taxi.
Nightlife was good we spent alot of time in club tropicana the satff are very friendly and make you feel welcome Smile and the green frog. Before you leave eat at the poisedon we didnt eat here till the last night and it was the best meal of the holiday. Word of warning the departures lounge at the airport is very very small i have seen garden sheds bigger you will understand on your way home the are only 3 departure gates say no more overall it was a good holiday and argassi aswell as zante itself is lovely.

Go to Target Bar to eat its the best, try the lamb and the views are fab, get your hotel to phone them they will come and pick you up.
Avalon is the best bar in Zante, DJ Slim Boy Fat will entertain you till very late, you wont want to go anywhere else

Amy S

If you like to have a nice leisurely stroll in the evening before or after your meal, taking in the sights and sounds of Greek life... forget it!  If however you want Sky Sports, English bars serving pub grub and traditional Sunday lunch followed by a night of overbearing music pumping out of ramdom bars you're going to love it!

Michelle M

This was my third year on the beautiful island of Zakynthos, but my first time in Argassi. After staying in Tsivili the past 2 years, Argassi was a welcome break. We stayed in the Admiral aparthotel, which was basic but nice and clean and not too noisy after 1 o'clock, due to Greek laws.

I have to recommend the Phoenix restaurant, a stones throw from the Admiral - this place is run by Giorgos and his family and is the most welcoming place we ate in over the 2 weeks we stayed.

Another recommendation would be the Apollo bar, for cheap entertainment (air hockey, computer games etc) and cheap drinks.

I would not recommend the Factory club since every night the PR attempts to intimidate you to come in; he also deeply offended my Greek boyfriend by arguing that in Argassi you should only have to speak English to get by...never a good idea to offend a Greek!

All in all a nice place, especially for faimlies or couples who want everything close to hand and not to raucous :)

yiasou!

Marie B

Argasi is the best. I went from 20th aug 2006 til 27th aug 2006. I'd recommend castaways restaurant for eating. kiss bar and angels bar offer the best cocktails. the facvtory is a great nightclub. Look out for peters restaurant. peter tries to grab everone in tht walks past. hes quite annoying.

Valerie

couldn't bear to leave the place had a lovely time argassi is my seccond home.

Ann D

just back..stayed at iilessa beach hotel good although a little quiet for teenagers..the barman odi ( alvin stardust is alive and well!!!!) kept us entertained..vicky the receptionist was lovely. best place to eat was erato..( ask the lovely nina for ann and steves favorite wine and say hi from us tell her kevin is missing her ). just next door is belt busters a must for your breakfast( say hi to george aswell).if you fancy a chinese then go to the oriental. its just outside the main drag on the way to zante town..all you can eat buffett is great.all in all argassi has something for everyone even though its a small resort.

Gordon G

we will be in argassi 24/08/06 to 07/09/06 can anyone tell me if zante town fc will be playing between these dates and if so how do we get tickets thanks for any help in advance

Theresa N

Argassi, well what can i say...

Dont go there if you expect a nice beach, they say it's sand and shingle, however if i put it this way you might get a better idea, Rhyl beach is better!!!

But on a happier note, argassi is a very friendly place to go.. The people hear go out of there way to make your stay an enjoyable one.  The Villa Denise Apartments are great, Denis and Maggie are the best hosts anyone could wish for.

Eating out, my families fave has got to be Castaway, food great, hospitality great, value for money great.
Places to avoid... Pete's Restaurant, The man is a slimey little critter who tries to force feed people, and tries to force them into his restaurant.  I had an argument with him myself and i saw him chase many others down the street trying to get them to eat there.  Trust me if you go to Argassi, there is no way you can miss this horrible little man.

Argassi is a nice place to visit, however 1 week would  be long enough.

Peter Y

My girlfreind and i were looking for a resort that would be small but reasonably busy and Argassi is spot on. You can walk up and down the main drag in ten minutes and it is full of restruants and bars so there is choice of were to go of an evening. Our pick would be Rossi's place for a drink and Papillon for food, or if your looking to chill and have a coffee a cake of an evening go the Ruby's. Everyone is very freindly and you get a real feel for the place as locals eat and drink in the area as well. Don't worry to much about the lingo as english is widely spoken although to learn a little is always appreciated.

Liz M

Hi All,

Been going to Zakynthos now for 6 years, met my boyfriend there and now getting married in Argassi on the 1st September 2006!!!!   Cant wait, it is one of the most beautiful parts of the world I have visited, and every year I go back everyone remembers you and it brings a tear to my eye.

Would highly recommend Porto Illiessia Apts in Argassi, and the best restaurant for me with the best food and people is Premier, just next to the magic mushroom. Denis is great.!

If you are interested in tours then go for kefalonia island tour, take you round the island and tells you all about captain correlli, bit of history with breath taking scenery, and you get lunch. Also turtle (marathonisi) island you get to see the turtles, and can swim with them too!!

If you go to zante, you WILL fall in love with this island!!!!!

Enjoy if you are going, maybe see you there!

Alison A

hi jenny, i would stay in either kalamaki or argassi with a little one, me and my husband have just come back from there and we travelled round the island, i definately wouldnt recommend laganas, we stayed there but didnt like it.

Kate H

I loved Argassi and can't wait till we go back for our honeymoon next year.

Fair enough the beach isn't up to much but there are plenty of hotels with pools and pool bars open to all right along the front.
It's also pretty cheap to get around the island so we went to the beach at Laganas on two days.

There's a brilliant choice of restaurants. The lamb kleftiko in Granada was really really good.
We also liked Premier and ate there twice.

The views from the Target Bar are beautiful and they run a free mini bus from 7-9pm. You just wait at the bottom of the hill and they'll pick you up.

There's a good range of bars too, favourites being Tropicana and Kiss.

It's a great resort and a perfect base to explore other parts of the island.

Jon E

Re previous

Taxi to tsilivi yes but why go there about 15 euro Bus flat rate
Taxi to Zante town 5 Euro bus flat rate

Best greek restaurant Granada
Best other restaurant Castaways

"if carlsberg made resorts the would probably make Argassi and the toucan bar!!"

Darren C

Great resort, lots of bars, restaurants and shops. All located in central compact area.

Neil M

Fantastic resort.....Lively enough without the lager louts! Good places to eat are Granada & Papillion great food and really friendly, Carrissimo is not bad either.

If you fancy  a good night and a laugh then the Greek night at Windmill Studios is well worth a visit, every Monday and only 12 Euros a head.

Stayed at the Windmill Bay, lovely place, clean, friendly and ideal for young kids.

What more can I say.....can't wait to go back next year!

Yammas!!

Kevin G

Had a great time in Argassi if i can give one word of warning to anyone that might be thinking of going on the cruise around the island, DON'T GO ON THE DELFINI, it might be the cheapest but it is the worst. We were on this boat for ten hours and if you've seen one cave you've seen them all.

Edwards J

We have been to argassi several time as a couple only and now as a family, you will love it , we are staying at the windmill studios for the second time in may and 3rd time in august, very nice clean apartments, close enough to town (3 minute walk) Plenty of good bars and restaurants in argassi you will enjoy it there!!

Jon E

Argassi is child freindly, first time back last year with our one, after several visits without kids still loved it as much..

The beach aint much but get a car and few miles up the road and the beaches are great back , but too a toddler warm sand and warm sea are great fun.

Soo good we where moving there!! till other things took over

Sarah S

Hi lucy, im sure you'll have a great time in Argassi. Theres a few places with play areas such as Tropicana & Green Frog. Check it out on the websites. Theres a crazy golf area as well which is good. Theres also bike hire if ur feelin energetic!! Have heard of timotheos but cant say i know anything about it sorry. Havent been much help sorry!!hope you have a fab time when you go. When is it your going? I go june 5th. Cant wait!

Leonard S

I visited Argassi in 1988,1990 summer of that year. I find it fassinating there. I also have family in Zakynthos. Address 22 Stoupathi Ellas(Greece)Zante island.

I recommend this fabulous Islnnd in all seasons because I adore the island + all of Greece in general. If I were you GO you'll love it. I personally am going over to Greece again to hopefully live there within a year depending on my finances.

Kalamaki is also great, the beach is quite lengthy, including Laganas making the longest beach in the south horsehose shape of Zakynthos.

My sister lives in between Zakynthos town an Argassi.

Len.

Valerie G

Hi David, I hope you have a lovely time in Argassi. My husband and I and our two daughters are going to the same resort in August. They have never been abroad before so it is all new to them. 26 years ago I lived in Cyprus so I know a little of the Greek culture. I'm sure you will love the watersports. I've heard the Zacfari jeep trip is very good. Several of our friends have been to Argassi and they have all said they had a great time. Have you been on the Green Frog website? It's a must. Also the Target bar do Greek nights twice a week and they send a car to pick you up from your hotel and take you back when you like and it's free.

Have a wonderful holiday. Bye, Valerie G.

ME AND MY FAMILY ARE GOING ON HOLIDAYS THIS YEAR AND WE ARE WONDERING IF IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO GO BECAUSE WE AINT BEEN ABROAD B4 AND IM EXCITED

Gwen A

Just back today from a stay at the Katerina Palace.  What great friendly people where nothing was too much trouble.  There does seem to be a problem with sqeaky beds though.  Turned out to be a talking point from people of all ages.   Beware of travel agents selling bargain trips.  Spring Tours did a runner this week with a lot of people's money.  Book with agents accredited to T.E.Z.   However apart from that, enjoyed the holiday in Argassi but wouldn't recommend going any later than this as everything was winding down and unless you want to just drink all night there is no night life.

Lezlee H

Argassi is a great place - don't go if you like beaches, because it just hasnt got one to brag about - stayed at the Windmill Bay which had steps straight into the sea from its seafront location. Pubs etc good, but I didnt really find them cheap drink wise - Try and avoid going late Sept onwards (I went 22nd Sept to 6th Oct 05) - it is starting to get rather quiet in the bars, restaurants etc... so the nights became a bit tedious when you are trying to entertain older teenagers ! The people in Argassi are friendly, plenty shops to go at and close to Zante town, Kalamaki and Laganas if you fancy a change. All in all, a smashing resort but probably best June, July and August !

Dave P

Excellent base from which to tour the island with a young family. People great. Hotel was poor but as it was just a base didn't really matter. If you are going to go make sure you get air con in your room. Could be a bit noisy at night but I was so knackered at the end of each day it didn't matter. Restaurants are great as are bars. Probably better in Argassi for young couples or singles. If you have kids and are eating out watch the bars that show films as the language can be ripe.Brilliant place.

Jon E

Absolutely fantastic resort, our 3rd time there, we had a brilliant time there with our 2 year old.

Resort has not changed that much in 5 years was like stepping back in time.

Food great, bars great especially the OASIS.... love ya Jude, Ken & crew

The only downside to our holiday was the 8 hour delay in the ram shackle airport with the overpriced beer and rubbish food (ours was out of date) supplied by airline (european aviation & manos) due to delay.

Word of warning if you hear you are delayed proir to check in do not go through passprt control stop the other side and go to snack bars over the road, you can get meal for 2 for 10 euros

We are off to book to go twice next year (but not with Manos) that;s how much we all loved it.

Ella C

Well it was our second time in Argassi and nothing much has changed. We had a fantastic time. Our Apartments (Maria Mare) were very clean, quiet and the staff were friendly. The pool was the cleanest id ever seen!!
We spent all our days down at a place called Dimitrios which is situated on the beachfront. We met some fantastic people, hello Fortis, Catherine, Costa and Kristos,Carol, Pete, George and Eileen oh and not forgetting Kate and Lec!!Hope to see you all there same time next year!I can't fault the place and the food is fantastic and reasonable.Free sun beds too this year which was a bonus. The bbq's they put on are brilliant too.

Lorrenzo- i hope your finger is better! Its UTPO YOU!!!!!

Hope to see everyone soon!!Oh and keep intouch!!

Ella and Mike x

Zoe L

I loved Argassi it was the best holiday i have been on! The nightlife was great! The routine I found good every night was go to Kiss Bar, Jungle Bar and then finish the night off in Magic Mushroom and we had a wicked holiday!!

J

One of the best holidays we've had , all the restaurants we ate in were excellent, with the exception of ,yes you've guessed it Peter's . The beach isn't up to much ,but the beach bars with free sunbeds are great the one we went to had free pool table, table tennis, volleyball and numerous kids board games which was great to get the kids out of the sun for a while. Couldn't reckonmend this place enough to anyone from young couples to families.

Gill K

jsuta week back from zante.. the Diana Palace was excellent!! great resort.. though for party nightlife, head to laganos! there is only so much of factory a person can take! we all had a great holiday and would definitly go back

Sharon, D

FIRST TIME TO ZANTE WE FOUND ARGASSI VERY FRIENDLY PLENTY TO DO EG SHOPS, EATING,CLUBBING,WATER SPORTS HAD A GREAT HOLIDAY DEFINTALY WILL GO BACK ALSO PLENTY OF SHOPS DO EXCELLENT EXCHANGE RATE

Paul C

The nightlife is reasonable, and there are some very good restaurants. I agree with the comment re Peter's, the guy is a pain to the point of being close to abusive. Recommendations would be the Pheonix (up towards the Admiral Hotel) for a genuine friendly greek welcome. I would also particularly recommend the Picadilli and Carrisimo restaurants.

The beaches aren't much to write home about but there are better beaches within a short distance, plus there are plenty of hotel pools which they allow access to the public.

Argassi has good access to Zakynthos town, which is very close by (1 Euro on the bus, 6 Euro by Taxi)

In all we had a very enjoyable holiday .

Julie H

got back from argassi on the 4th august..thought argassi was a lovely place but if its clubbin your after its very limited! you can get into lagana for 15 euros though...
the best bar was avalon(castle looking) if you get on the bar they give you a free shot!! a great place to eat is the GREEN FROG!! great food just like you would find at home and quite reasonable in price plus a bouncy castle if you have kids!!
another nice place was CASTAWAYS the fajitas are lovely and are flamed at your table!
not much of a beach mainly a pool based holiday unless you want to keep gettin taxis to the beach!

Frank P

Been a lot of places around the World never wanted to go back to many, I would always want to go back to Zakynthos. We stayed in Argassi the local Tavernas are hard to seperate as they are all fab.

Thanks Argassi(ians) for a wonderful holiday.

David W

Lovely resort. Not too busy and with lots of bars and restaurants to suite all tastes and budgets.

Main road a bit busy but other than that a fabulous locations. Give Peters a miss. Pain in the bum when your trying to walk past and the meal was one of the worst we had. Try the next one up. Less pushy and nicer meal. For a special romantic treat try the one up the road next to the golf course. One of the best holidays we have had and would recommend. Shame about the airport though.

Sam A

We loved Argassi! =)=)

beautiful place, with ,lots of nice people..! we'll come back for sure sometime! We did plenty of cool things here! and there's alot of things for the youth to do..! especially the bars! =D

Danka S

I have booked to go to Argassi in October. We are staying in the Timotheos Studios, could anybody tell me what they are like. I can not find a review for it anywhere.

J

Going to argassi in a couple of weeks ,any good trips to do with kids?

Lisa A

Just came back from Argassi!! Had a great 2 weeks! Stayed at Nikos Studios, little walk to town but nothing too strenuous, v. close to bus stop so good for travelling around island!! Spent most of our time at The Family Inn pool or Remezzo's pool bar!!  If your stuck for something to do go and see Alexandra and Ya'Nis at the excursion place just down from Dolphin Supermarket and Castaways Restaurant! She suggested lots of good things to see and do! Try to just walk past Peter at Peter's Restaurant, v. annoying little man who will try anything to get u in, food is bland and not too nice!!  Try Illision restaurant on the back road by the Dolphin.  Dennis there is great and food amazing, you can get a horse drawn carriage for a really special nite out!! A bus goes from Avalon Bar daily at 10.30 to Vasilikos Banana Beach, definately go there it's amazing!!  Kiss Bar and Magic Mushroom are the best clubs but try Red Lion and Legends for a good nite!!  Go to 24/7 for a crepe, they're gorgeous!!

Lee E

Gr8 holiday 1st tym in greece and it was the best holz eva Stayd in Xenos Kamara beach George the barman u w****r. best clubs the Kiss bar and Avalon but big up to irish tony in artemis. Cya all nxt yr big up 2 all 30 of the Zante Rebels lol

Gina H

We have just got home after our first visit to zante.Argassi is a friendly place there could be a bit more for the kids to do but the watersports are good although pedaloes a lot cheaper in kalamaki. Best food was either Pappilon or posiedon .Green Frog food a bit bland but quiz night great fun.The Red Lion is good for karoake. The horrid little man didn't bother us that much but plenty of others did. If you dont want to spend the day packed like sardines on boat trips i reccomend hiring a sail boat for 8 people from Zante town 300 euros for the day to explore at your leisure (even a fridge for the beer!).All in all had a great time .

Kirsty H

Just Back from Zante 21.7.05.  Diana Palace Apartments very clean.  No daily actitvites and 1 hour entertainment if you were lucky.  Pool very small.  Lack of sunbeds.  Stathis in the snack bar worked his butt off. Nothing to do for the children.  If it wanst for the good weather I would have been on the next flight home.  Going to Argassi with 3 children aged 12 10 8 was very hard as there is nothing there for them to do.  Waterpark poor.  Argassi ok for a couple or 18-30 ish not for families.

Jessica S

just came bac yesterday was one of the best holz ive had so didnt wanna c*m home wud love to go bac.

alcohols very cheap so a def for young ppl lol.
beach was beautiful pitty there wasnt alot of room n it is quite stoney.

Lyndsey

We loved Argassi, Windmill Studios were lovely.  Plenty of nice restaurants and bars.  Bit too much kareoke though.  Would definately go back.  Was a nice mix of not too loud, not too quiet.  The beach is pretty poor but we knew that before we went.  Some of the shops offer a little bit more than the usual rubbish as well.

Lee D

Great weather...great tan!!! (10/10)

Windmill Bay aparts were excellent.
Pitty about Agrassi...some good eating places...not much else, though Zanti was good, especially the Village Inn (fantastic food and service).
Good for a 'once' family holiday...overall 7/10.

Irish_girls

Can't wait to go back. The jungle is the best club in argassi. Food is really cheap

Kym H

going to zante on wednesday the 7 july cnt wait its gonna b my 1st time abroad going with my auntie who has been b4 and she loved it she been going 4 yrs in a row

Christine M

Yet another great hooliday at The Family Inn in Argassi which is run by the very friendly Ambelas family.....It is situated in a quite area of Argassi although the beech and resturants are only a short walk away.

The pool area is very clean, the poolside bar (run this year by Teresa, Tassia and Michael) did some very good 'specials' - check out the 'chalk board', along with the usual things - Greek Salad, pitta etc - all very well presented and served.

At night, the guests all end up in 'Dino's' bar which is great place to chill out at the end of the day - is there anywhere else to end the night except at Dino's?

If anyone is considering The Family Inn for their holidays, you will not be dissapointed..

J A

anyone fill us in about what the argassi night life is like?

any good for two 19yr olds?!

Old M

Just back from two weeks at the Tropicana (well ok, we stayed at the Timotheos but we were in the Tropicana most nights), and can safely say that this was a great holiday in a great location. The beach isn't massive but it is more than adequate, there is a very large selection of restaurants and bars (and some right characters trying to get you to buy their food etc), and a really good atmosphere. Don't be put off by the hordes of gyppos trying to sell you hats, roses, lighters etc, and don't be put off by the pirate CD sellers every ten minutes. Argassi's a top place to spend some relax time.

Anne R

We've just got back from Argassi, stayed at Commodore. basic but VERY clean. Pool area good and lots of sun loungers.

Eating places; lots but be careful of Peter outisde Peters restaurant, he gets very stroppy at the end of the week if you didn't eat there. We didn't and he was v. rude. Didn't look a great place to eat. We reccommend;
Papillon, Big Plate, Stars. Papillon is best, don't be put off that no-one tries to tempt you in, its always full up by 8.30 they don't need to drag customers in with bribes!

Amanda P

We just got back from the Commodore. They are clean well mantained apartments, but are basic,as is most of Greece.I would def stay there again.Hope you have agood time..im sure you will.amanda Wales

J A

Tracy D

Paul W

Andrea G

not much of a beach but the island cruise is worth a visit as the sea is a lovely blue and clear, never seen any dolphins though although other people did.If Micky and Kathy are reading this nice to have met you and hope you had a good journey back to Exceter.

We stayed at the Katherina palace studios not bad but very basic.

If you do visit Argassi eat at the red lion where Medina and staff cook a great meal any time of the day and give you a warm welcome .

Andrea and Mick from warwickshire

Amanda P
