Accommodation in Alykanas

Graham L

My partner and our two children have just returned from the Neraida Bungalows. We found the accomodation to be very clean and the family that run this complex were extremely friendly and helpful. However, if you get accomodation near the pool or towards the bar then you may find it difficult to sleep due to the dogs that are kept in a shed at the back of the neighbouring restaurant. The dogs start barking and howling at around 1am when the horse drawn carriages return from the village, and carry on until daybreak and despite telling our rep (Liz)on the first night, the problem was never resolved, when we told Liz about this again she told us to speak to the owners of the restaurant (I thought that was the reps job?). Apart from this,we found the reps to be friendly and helpful and the owners son,Andreas, was a pleasure to be with and I hope to meet him and his family again soon.

My family and I stayed in the Neraida Apartments last Sept 03. We were all very dissapointed with the overall standard of the accomodation. Our rooms were not clean on arrival and there was not enough cooking utensils or big enough bedlinen. The security of our apartments was not good, you could not shut the windows and you are in quite a secluded area, especially at night. The resort is lovely and the beach is great for the children but we would not stay at these apartments again. They are definately not worth the 'A' rating that KOSMAR have given them, and while we were there all of the other people staying there were in agreement with us about this. I hope anybody going ther this year finds it beter than we did!.

Myself, husband 7 two children ages 9 & 13 are looking to book a holiday in May 2005 at this accomodation. the travel agent said the studios for 4 will have two double beds, is this correct as the kids won't want to share!
Any opinions on the accomodation 7 resort gratefully received.

Go to the Kosmar site for a picture of outside of bungalows. Restaurant prices are very reasonable so nothing to worry about there.

Kylie A

Can someone please put some photos of the inside and outside of the bungalows on the site? I have heard it is expensive to eat out in restaurants, can anyone give me examples of prices? Any suggestions on good places to eat? Does anyone know what the new waterpark is like?

David

money change places are all walking distance, after all Alikanas is not that big. Loads of restaurants have kids meals and high chairs etc now so you will be ok.

We are staying at the Naraida Bungalows in May this year, where is the nearest place to change money? Are there any restaurants in particular that cater well for 3 yr olds? If anyone that has been got taxi's to Tsilivi how much approx did it cost and how long did it take? If anyone can give me anymore info please reply. Looking forward to it thanks to the reviews..........

I would just like to say that all the bad comments about the Neraider Bungalows are not true. I went there on the 17th of august for 2 weeks. I had a great time and the family the run the bar were really friendly. the 4 brothers Nico Demitri Andreas and the other i dont know his name were the most friendly people i have ever met. the whole family was polite and were there if you had any requests or problems. the family also did a greek night with entertainment and a BBQ which was fab. i will most likely go again as it was the best holiday ive ever had. also the rooms were clean and tidy a maid would be ther to clean up every morning an about 11 o'clock. it was great.

Greg C

returned home june 15 2003 had a lovely holiday, excellent views.Nicos and his brothers made you feel really at home.Recommend eating at neraida snack bar, also try the pie shack on road to alikes for good english food.Always had hot water and the negative comments unfair.

Just got back from staying at the Neraida Bunglows and had a great time. The location was brilliant, looking straight over the bay of Alykanas and Alikes. These bunglows are Very basic but nether the less you only need them to wash and sleep in, not much hot water but who cares your on holiday. The family that run this place are wonderful, Nikos, Andreas, Demitri and mum all so friendly and they make your holiday very enjoyable ( watch Demitri as he likes to push everyone in the pool)FANTASTIC PLACE Yammas to everyone.

Geoff P

Our second time in 3 years and we still love it. The location of Neraida has got to be one of the best in the area, especially at sunset. Beatiful views over the bay and nice safe beach for kids which is never crowded. Thanks to Nicos and Dimitri. Soula try to smile more!

Thanks from all 29 of us.

We had our holiday in Zante in July 2002 and weather was fantastic and the beaches were great . Alykanas had loads of bars and resturants and the food and sevice and price was really cheap excellent all round for abig Family of 6.
Andreas and nikos at neraida called us the big family they are natural born entertainers I hope Andreas is doing well in the army all the best to Nikos and Demitri and Sula Yamas to you all hope to see you soon.

My girlfiend and me have just returned from a week in Zante, staying at the Neraida Bungalows. Our trip had it all - the stunning beauty of Zante, great beaches, good food, friendly locals and fantastic weather. However the accomodation was pretty much the worst I've ever had the misfortune of staying at in Greece. Having visited Greece a number of times I didn't expect much in the level of accomodation. The Neraida was just 'too bad' - the cowboy hatted owner (somewhat apt) treated us with utter neglet and apparent disdain - no hot water for 3 days and absolutely no water at all for 1 day (until I opened the stop-cock at the rear of the app't having discovered that it had been turned off for some reason!) One window in our appartment was missing an entire pain of glass (removed during one of the burglaries listed in these pages I assume), had rising damp and the sheets were holed on our arrival. The view was good tho' - just a shame the appt' was cold, damp and devoid of hot water. We travelled with Kosmar Holidays, who didn't seem able to improve on the situation unfortunately. My advice - hire a car and get into the mountains, find a room in a small, family run guesthouse, and stay away from the over-developed resorts.

Just arrived back,Some of the comments are realy unfair,These bungalows are in a great position on the beach front,There cleaned every day and bedding changed at least 3 times per week,We had a great time,Thanks to Nichos, Demetri,& Mum The Centre Of Alikanas Is a 10min walk, YAMASS, WE SHALL RETURN

Michelle J

The apartments are reasonable they arnt the best but its worth it to be able to see the amazing sunsets over the sea and hills. The family that run the place are lovely and friendly and try there best to help you. Does anyone know if Andraos is still there cus in October last year he was planning to go to Canada

Raymond T

Just arrived back loved the views. No hot water for the majority of our holiday. Break-in in the next bungalow on the last night. The owners are now trying to make you pay for your sun beds around the pool even though you are residing in one of their bungalows.

Davey B

Neriada bungelows any change this year 2002 going mid august, some comments seem to be bad

Shan T

After reading some comments we were expecting the PITS, but found that the rooms were clean tidy and much larger than most places we have been before, and we have been to some places!some British hotels we have stayed in have been worse. For a quiet and relaxing holiday you couldn't find nicer.Julie at The Mill said there was only one break-in all summer,so we give it the thumbs up,as did all of the people who we met, some are hoping to be able to go again next year.

Richard M

Bev ,glad you enjoyed it.

Bev W

We got back yesterday and I must admit we had a great holiday. The apartments were small and very basic but we had no problem with the water supply (hot and cold running water 24 hrs a day) or break-ins.We had great weather and have come back tanned and relaxed. The only problem was the airport what a nightmare, we had to wait 2 hours for our luggage!! Apart from that I have no major complaints a good holiday was had by all.

Richard M

Sem, It is the same Richard. Fortunately I was only ill for a day or so & it turned out to be an inner ear problem, suprisingly nothing to do with the apartment. Burglaries on the last night appear to be commonplace as this happened to us in Lanzarote. Regarding the apartments, some friends of ours stopped in the Elpida, which although rated quite well on this web site was little better than ours, although they did have running water throughout thier stay. How did you go on with your insurance,Our case was ripped open at that fantastic airport & the insurance won't pay because we can't prove it was ok before we went.

Sem S

There are no safety deposit boxes - if I remember rightly Richard was extremely unwell on holiday - if it is the same Richard then he was rushed to hospital on the night of the break ins. One family who were broken into were of the opinion that it had something to do with friends of the lad who ran the bar of an evening. But then again that is hearsay. It is the second time that we have been to Zante where there have been burglaries on the last night. This is not to put you off - everyone is different in their tastes etc., but forewarned is fore-armed and I am sure you will enjoy your holiday.

Bev W

Richard, thank you so much for the reassurance. Still a bit worrying about the break-ins though was it holiday makers or locals do you know? Another quick question is there a safety deposit box anywhere? 4 days to go and I can't wait!! P.S. My email is dodgy and I cannot view attachments but thanks for your help.

Richard M

Bev email me on richard_moody3@btinternet.com & I will try & send you some photos.

Richard M

Bev, we had a fantastic holiday, the location of the apartments more than makes up for it's bad points. We were also their when the two break ins occurred, but I believe that the bathroom window, which is where they broke in, should have had bars fitted by now. The apartments are basic, but if youre just going to sleep in them it's not a problem. You will never stay anywhere else with a better view. My only major complaint was the water supply. If you have any problems with it complain to the old man in the shop who owns the apartments. Alikanas is really nice & the restaurants are fantastic. I'm sure you will have a great time.

Bev W

I am off on holiday 9th Sept and after reading the latest comments about these apartments am now a bit worried. Is it really as bad as it sounds? Please please I need reassurance can anyone help me?

Kathryn J

Fab location next to beach. Apartments basic and 'grubby', bar quite noisy until early hours and staff not very helpful. Alykanas is great especially the Mill Bar, but wouldn't go to these apartments again. Be security aware as there were two break-in's while we were there (5/8 to 19/8)

Richard M

Fantastic location, however apartments are very basic & seem to run out of any form of running water at least once a week. On one occasion their was no water for around 16 hrs (no flushing toilet etc) Would defininately go back to Alikanas but not to this apartment.

Emily L

ok richard ill be steaming too no doubt. im with 3 friends and im the burnt one probably!!

Richard M

Emily, we go on August 12th, we might see you their.(If you see me on the 14th you'll recognise me, it's my 40th & their is a slim chance that I will be slightly drunk!

Emily L

oooh you go 5 days after we fly back!! enjoy yourself!!

Gary G

thanks emily you put my mind at rest after three average comments. Going 26th august 2 weeks with 2 kids so glad beach is close. gary graham

Emily L

Richard its lovely here. if you go could you tell the blonde haired boy Andreas that lizzie and emily say hello and are coming back soon. They are really friendly nd the beach is about 10 seconds away! if you want to get to the centre it is 5-10 minutes walk but you also get the option of horse and carriage! its lovely. Have a good time

Richard M

Staying here in August. What are the apartments like. I am there for my 40th,wheres the best place to spend it.(Their are 17 of us)

The M

The bungalows are basic but in a fantastic location on the beach. Only 5- 10 min walk to centre but tavernas and bars nearby. You'll wake up to the sound of the sea, its that close.

Gary G
