Akis Studios

Accommodation in Alykes

Brian D

Just back today from two weeks in the Akis... so review hot off the press!

A 5 minute walk from the centre, behind the salt-flats for anyone familiar with Alykes.

Not the most scenic part of town, but it is nice and quiet, but accessible. Supermarket is just 100 yards away, and a few surrounding dars ensure you won't dehydrate in the glorious Zakynthian sunshine!

The studios themselves are without a doubt the mist basic we have stayed in. The loo was so small that whether standing or sitting, I had one foot on the shower base at all times!

The shower itself has lukewrrm water at times, mildly warm at others... and annoyingly, had to be hand-held.

Rooms were cleaned daily, and were clean enough, but there were three days out of the fourteen when THEE bin wasn't emptied... not the general rubbish bin, that I could cope with... ... THEE bin, the one that thankfully we have no need for in the UK thanks to our sanitation system (therein lies the answer to the age-old question... what have the Romans ever done for us!).

Anyway, I digress!!!

The pool is lovely, warm and clean. A good sized pool, but never too busy during our stay. There is also a lovely wee kiddies pool at the end of it.

Only minor gripe... as the pool and sunloungers are free and open to the public, people from neighbouring accomodation and elswhere in the town use it regularly. Whilsn not problematic whilst we were there, I can imagine that it may be busy at peak time.

All in all, we had a great time. It is a decent enough base for a holiday of the relaxing kind. A bit basic, but if you can live with that, you should have a good time.

We have just returned from 2 lovely weeks at the Akis, this after enjoying our 1 week in September so much.On arrival we found we had the same apartment (6) which we intended to request anyway as the front balcony has a  good sea view and looks over the entrance to the complex so you can watch all the comings and goings,it also gets the sun all morning which is lovely as you  sit and eat your breakfast. The rear balcony overlooks the pool and bar and is a sun trap after lunchtime. The flat is basic but kept very clean with bedding and towels changed twice a week. The owner Viviene is a gem and can't do enough for you, she is a good cook and her prices are fair. How she can work so many hours beats me,opening at 8am and closes at midnight 7 days a week! She is assisted by her daughter Katerina when she is not at school ( hope you passed your exams o.k.)We can recommend Akis for a quiet relaxing break as there is an 11pm noise curfew inAlikes

Thanks again girls for a lovely holiday. Robert & Evelyn Haig

sarah the akis is if  you cut off the main drag road in alykes the road with the vine leaf taverna 5 to 10 mins walk up there on the right in front of the salt flats.

We stayed at the Akis apartments last May and are going back again this June.
The accommodation is basic but clean and the owners are very friendly and willing to help.
The swimming pool is nice and there is a small one for toddlers and young children to splash around in.
The apartments are in a quiet location but not too far to walk to get to the beach and main road in Alykes where alot of the tavernas and shops are.

Sarah - The Akis apartments are set at the back of the saltflats towards the left hand side, probably about a 10-15 minute walk form the Apollo.

Me and my family are staying in the Akis Studio's this June. Can anyone tell me exactly where the studio's are in relation to the Saltflats? Are they behind the Apollo restaurant/apartments? Any help would be gratefully recieved. thanks Sarah

and in addition to me earlei rpost, the 'Paradise Restaurant' on the road into town is an excellent place to eat for a true authentic greek family taverna. Say "Yia-sou" to Dina for us.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from 2 weeks at the Akis and had a wonderful time. The studios were lovely, the pool excellent and the staff could not do enough to help and make you feel welcome. This is an ideal family accomodation with a nice freindly atomosphere and child freindly pool. The location was ideal with the shops, supermarket and beach all within 5 mins walk, but out of town enough to be nice and quiet and peaceful at night. We would thoroughly recommend these studios and would rebook without hesitation.

This is our third time at these appartments and we have booked for next year. It is quiet and relaxing and the staff, Katrina and Viven are very helpful. They will do anything to make your holiday enjoyable. The three different Kosmar reps have also been helpful and have made time to sort out any problems. It is a little walk to town, but if my wife who has MS can do it ok, it shouldn't be a problem. There are lots of great places to eat, especially The Relax Bar, run by Charlotte and George. I will recommend The Astoria Taverna bt the beach.

Hi, the Akis aprtments are lovely - really friendly people too. The best places to eat are Paradasiakio (a bit out of the way) and Beelzebubs, opposite Cheers Bar (everyone knows where it is. Enjoy your stay.

We are going to Akis studios in May with our 1 year old son - has anyone used Kosmar cots? Are they OK or should we take our travel cot?

Billy A

please could anyone tell me if the akis apts have fridges

Having travelled to Greece on a number of occasions, our initial impression was very good. Alikes is a quite and friendly resort. The relaxed atmosphere set the tone for the enjoyable week we spent there. The Akis, although basic, was adequate and the pool area was pleasant . Since the introduction of the Euro prices have rocketed and we were very surprised although standard of food was generally high. The beaches were nice although littered and with a bit too many sun loungers for our liking, I imagine they are very busy in high season. Overall a lovely holiday but glad we went off season amd probably not enough to encourage us to return.

Really nice!

Gary, D

just come back from a 2 week stay, the apartments are lovely, there cleaned everyday, lovely size pool, what more could you ask for!

Sam F

WE STAYED AT THESE APARTMENTS LAST SEASON AND TO BE HONEST WE ENJOYED EVERYTHING FROM THE FRIENDLINESS OF STAFF TO THE GOATS IN THE FIELD BEHIND OUR ROOMS!!!! OUR GROUND FLOOR END ROOM WAS EXCELLENT AND WE ENJOYED A LOVELY BREEZE AT NIGHT WHICH CAME DOWN OFF THE MOUNTAINS BEHIND US. BEING FROM THE YOUNGER GENERATION IT WAS A LITTLE OUT OF THE WAY BUT IT WAS NICE AS THE WALK HOME CLEARED OUR HEADS. AS FOR THE NOISE POLICE, YES ITS TRUE BUT A COUPLE OF BARS DO HAVE DOORS AND THE PARTY CAN CONTINUE UNTIL EARLY HOURS(AS LONG AS THEY ARE KEPT SHUT). I THINK ONE MORNING WE WALKED OUT OF HEAT WAVE AT AROUND 4ISH FROM WHICH WE WENT DOWN TO THE LOCAL 24 HOUR KEBAB SHOP......NICE BUT NO, SERIOUSLY ITS NOT SOMETHING OFF "CLUB REPS" BUT ITS A WONDERFUL PLACE WITH WONDERFUL PEOPLE WHOM CATER FOR ALL AGES FROM 0 - 100 I HOPE YOU HAVE AS GOOD TIME AS WHAT WE DID.

Frank L

We have just come back from two weeks staying here, Unfortunatly when we arrived we were given a room where the toilet flooded the bathroom and had no shower ! to give the them their due they said we could pick any of five rooms on the gnd floor (Why were they so empty?)we took no.11 which was fine till the next morning when we woke to find ourselves overrun with ants. The moral is, take an upper room. Bye the way the place is located on the other side of the salt lake in Alykes and is not suitable for younger people, in fact the whole of Alykes is made to go quiet about midnight by the police. If you get put there hire a car and spend your evenings elsewhere.
