We hired a scooter from here this year. Julie was fantastic, very helpful and not pushy. We will definitely hire from here again.

Used Merlis twice now in as many years.Booked it with Julie by e-mail and both times she has done me proud.The same jeep{kia sportage 4x4}with other companies was a lot more expensive.Even though i was staying in Tsilivi both times the delivery and pick up are in with the price and on time.Hired for 7 days each time and had no probs whatsoever.My only advice to people driving in zante is to always slow right down if not stop when a car is coming the other way on the narrower roads because ive seen cars in the roadside ditches by trying to pass one another at speed.I have drove in zante on virtually every holiday bar one and ive been 8 times and i have been ok just by sticking to this rule.

Excellent, we actually booked the car hire by email before we left UK, Julie answered promptly. Delivery was at the exact time stated, Julie gave us a map of the island and a list of interesting places to visit. Will definately be using Merlis again.

We actually booked the car via e mail before we left the UK. Its so easy I e mailed Julie for prices she told me how much and what time the car would be delivered. As arranged she was there at 9.15am on the dot she showed us our car which was a 4 door Hyundai Accent which when we were in the UK John wasnt keen on having but he changed his mind in about 10 mins after driving.

He loved the Hyundai it had only done 9000 miles and was very easy to drive it had all the mod cons etc. The only fault he had was that it wasnt the greatest of pullers when driving up a mountain but hey how often will you drive up a mountain.

We paid Julie as arranged when she brought the car. She gave us a map of Zante and some info on places we may want to visit which was a nice touch. Hoping togo again To Laganas soon so will definentely be using Merlis cars again.

I can highly recommend Merlis for top quality service and top quality car. Go with the best.

Excellent as always but one complaint. We were expecting a brand new yellow car but got a brand new black one instead, prompting a quick wardrobe change. This however was made up by the offer of free legal representatation and regular visits by Julie in the event of our incarceration should the Police notice the absence of number plates ( so new was the car)

We would definitely recommend Merlis.  They're good value for money and convenient (if you are anywhere in the vicinity of the Cava D'oro), and really helpful. Our car was clean as new (though only when we got it!).

We had a slight hitch, as when we came to collect the car they didn't have the baby seat we had booked, but this was sorted as soon as they could, and Julie did offer to give us another car after our rental was finished to make up for the time lost.

We booked over the internet, and the price was exactly as quoted - no added extras for the baby seat, booster seat etc.

We saw a lot of the island, and it was well worth the money.

Just back and booked from UK over email, great service, good cars and friendly staff. Will use them again if in Kalamaki!

I would definitely recommend using this company for car or scooter hire. Julie works at the smaller office on the crystal beach road and she is friendly, informative and you can trust her (Hi Julie, you'll know her as she's the woman with the North East accent) She talked me through all the insurance scenarios regarding the scooters so I was in no doubt of the amount of cover that I had. Unlike other hire companies there is no 'extras'. She is extremely helpfull and has maps and places to visit etc. and is just generally a good person to deal with. (Unlike other hire companies were they quote you a good price but then add on insurance later) Their price was the best, or at the very least as good as, other companies in Kalamaki.

Someone has said earlier, don't bother shopping around, go straight here if you have small children, excellent baby seats, they spent a long time fitting them correctly, car was better than ours at home!

Car delivered exactly as arranged. Great service. Map and list of places to visit very helpful. Road signs and markings around the island not so helpful.. many just plain wrong! Found we had a flat tyre one monring, called into Merlis office who came out and replaced the wheel within minutes! Worth having insurance with no excess as our windscreen wipers were stolen one night!

Hired a jeep from Merlis for 3 days last week for half the price of the reps recommended company! Great service, just leave the car and keys at the hotel and get on with your holiday. Thanks a lot!

We've used Merlis a few times now and wouldn't go anywhere else. They leave the car at the airport with a welcome note and we just leave it there when we leave. Julie is great and always ready for a chat. Don't bother shopping round - just go here

I hired my car for 7 days, not a great choice of car, but that was my fault as I did not book I just walked in - but I had a car straight away and the price left me feeling like a thief, as it was very good. Julie was fantastic and helped us with a smile and gave us some good local knowledge. Merlis deserves its 10/10 and this IS the best car hire on the island, enjoy it as we did.

Hired a moped for 10 days, just the job for getting you around the island,watch out for the potholes though have to stay vigulant. Again Julie is helpful and any problems with Moped just drop into Merlis workshop and it will get fixed ie, had an indicator light fail. Repaired straight away.Thanks again Julie....Martin & David

Excellent prices at approx £17 a day for a Fiat Seicento. Cheaper than paying for a taxi that's for sure. Saw more of Zante than I thought we would by hiring a car from Merlis. Friendly service and dealt with replacing our flat tyre swiftly.

We had a fantastic time in Zante in June 2004, made all the better by a first class car rental company. Well recommended.

I reserved our car online and it was waiting for us outside our hotel. The car had a few dings & dents, but it was sound and we never had any problems with it. Very reliable service from Julie. We would use them again.

I totally agree with you - you must have had the same car! We hired a green Samurai and it was like driving a tank or a dodgem as we liked to say! It became quite a novelty in the end not having a fifth gear and not sure which gear you were in as they all felt like neutral. My biceps were well toned by the end of the three days!
It was fun but I would insist on a different car if you have been unfortunate enough to have got one of these!

ok I'm biased as like Julie I am afflicted in the sense that we are both Geordies but I do recommend this concern - with one caveat and that is that don't hire the Samurai unless you can drive a tank

Again, A1 service from Julie. Spotlessly clean car waiting for us at the 'airport'. Great price for 2 weeks hire - its well worth having the freedom of a vehicle to enable you to see this lovely island. Don't consider hiring from anywhere else.

We could just come over to office and pay and sign for contract at our leisure. Julie was very helpful and left us with full instructions, map of Island and places worth visiting.
We could just leave the car at airport again. Definetely recommendable and we had a very good deal for the 11 days.
The company is quite large and well known. Fully comp. insurance which many companies don't do without paying extra.

We hired a suzuki jeep from Merlis, brilliant value for money. The jeep was dropped of outside our hotel and they picked it up once we had finished. We made contact with Merlis prior to travelling so we had an idea of the prices.

I would suggest you do some digging around and dont go with the car hire available with your tour operators as it could cost you twice as much as it would have done had we booked it with the tour operators.

You can also hire bikes but after seeing how people drive I wouldnt recommend this, one of the girls on holiday with us hired a moped on the first day and came of so she was in bandages and laying by the pool for the remainder of the holidays!!

This is the very best place to go hire your car. Julie welcomes everyone with a big smile and is so warm and friendly. The cars were top quality and ideal for running around on the island although the driving was a bit scary at times. (have they ever heard of driving on the correct side of the road and what breaks are!!). Definitely going to hire next year from there.

Hired for three days and got little Atoz, good basic car with air conditioning. Enjoyed trips round the island seeing the hill villages and the small coves on the coasts, great access to beaches on bottom end of island.
Easy driving but watch the blind corners and the motorcyclists!!

We ordered a car with Julie over the internet prior to our second visit to Zante, and could not have had a better service, well organised polite and most of all reliable, we hired a Hyundai Getz for 2 weeks which was immaculate and toured the whole island from our base in Tsilivi, visiting beautiful coves, restaurants, beaches etc which you would never have known about without the use of a car.
A very big thanks Julie for helping to start off our holiday in such a great way we will use Merlis again on future visits

We e-mailed Merlis in advance of our visit to Zante and were given good quotes by Julie for a Suzuki Samurai Jeep. The car was delivered on time with a useful map and guide to the island. Overall the service offered by Merlis was first rate, would definitely recommend them. I think it is essential to hire a car to see the real Zante, we travelled all over the island and saw the most beautiful sights, found some fantastic small beaches and ate in little mountain side restaurants we would never have found if we did not have a car. The island is small so two days is enough to see most areas but three days was just right.

To hire a car or not to hire a car that is the question. We always have a car for at least 2 days depending on where we go on holiday and what there is to do. Unless you intend to use a car to travel to different resorts in the evening or bays and coves during the day I personally would not bother. We hired a small Getz car for 2 days which cost us €70 and then €10 in petrol. We had practically visited the highlights of the island in the first day and finished off the following morning with a trip to Zante Town for a look around. We wished we hadn’t paid the money and booked the island tour because that would only have cost us €10 each.

I booked an air conditioned hyundia accent in feb 03 for our family holiday in August , julie Rutherford was the lady who quoted me via email and arranged delivery of the car to our hotel . She delivered a nice,clean and more importantly a roadworthy car (i'm a mechanic)to our hotel in person .I had no problems and would recomend this freindly reliable company to anyone...

Hard to find any fault. They delivered the car to the hotel when they said they would. The car was fine and the air-con. worked very well (absolutely vital on Zante in August). They were the most competitive on price and extremely "laid back" but in a positive way. NO grief, no hassle - not a lot more to say, frankly, but thanks !

we hired a car for 2 days with merlis I did it all over the internet a couple of months prior to travel the car was at the hotel waiting just as we had discussed Julie was so helpful and friendly and we even got a bottle of wine as it was our honeymoon.
The car was clean and reliable just wish we had hired it for longer. spot on!!

We booked in advance so we could enjoy our holiday knowing that we had the jeep we wanted, map and info pack excellent, thanks Julie for your info. Great price for 5 day hire was sad to see it go.

Very impressed with Merlis, asked to hire the basic care for 10 days, and, as one wasnt available, we were given a free upgrade to a car with aircon. Julie very helpful, and we were provided with a list of places to visit, very useful, and a map. Car cost approx £17.00 a day, a hugh saving on what we were offered by our travel agent, and what the reps could offer. Thanks alot Merlis, the car was great, no problems, and it greatly contributed to our enjoyment of the island.

Very good, they are cheap but look after you and have a wide range to choose from. The staff are very helpfull and give good advice. Don't go through your travel operator, just go to merlis and they will sort you out for a very good price (just don't forget your licence, if you do don't worry you can get someone from home to fax it through to them)

The cars are wonderful and Julie is so nice too. She really looks after you. The Atos she gave us was very economical on petrol and seemed to go forever. Would not go anywhere else for a hire car.

I have recently returned from Zante and I used Merlis twice for car hire during my holiday.The prices are very good and Julie who works there is a very friendly and helpful lass.(Like all Geordie lasses).If you are looking for car hire go to Merlis not your tour operator you,ll save a fortune.
