October - (Best Time to Visit)

Jayne S

Just returned on 24 October. Have been to Zante in June and July but never late in the season. The weather was really nice. It was cloudy on our last couple of days but the sun came out later on. Really warm through the day but the nights do get a little chilly. Obviously being in Laganas so late in season meant that a lot of places were closing down for the season and it was really quiet on the Main Street in comparison to the heights of June and July, but still had a fab time.

Manos Holidays - (Tour Operators in Zante)

Jayne S  (27 October 2002)

First time we have travelled with Manos. Probably will not use them again. Stayed in Laganas between 17 - 24 October. The accommodation was pants and the rep although friendly, was not helpful and was defensive about the owner of the property than the lack of cleanliness in our room. Also she was going home the same day as ourselves so didn't think her heart was in her job at this time.

Dias - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Jayne

Have read the comments about the Dias below and are suitably impressed.

Would I be right in assuming that the Dias Taverna/Restaurant is the Taverna that is next to Dias Studios? My husband and I have just booked up a late deal with Olympic Holidays and are to stay at the Dias Studios and would be grateful if someone could let me know where exactly this accommodation is situated.

Thanks in anticipation of anyone's assistance.

Potters Bar - (Bars in Laganas)

Jayne S  (01 September 2005)

Was really sad to hear that Chris and Lyn have now left Potters Bar.

Was over the moon when I had a night out with Chris on Saturday just gone in Maguluf and saw Lyn on Sunday morning after she had travelled over in the car.

They are opening a bar in Magaluf towards the Cala Vinyes end called Travellers Rest which they hope to open this Friday, 2 September.  I wish them all the luck in the world and no doubt will be visiting them on occasions!

Potters Bar will never be the same again!  That owner wants his head testing!

In Kalamaki in October but don't think I'll be visiting Potters Bar somehow. Heard there's a couple of muppets who are trying to run the show!   Should quit you're ahead mate!

Voting based on current position!!

Have you ever been to Greece before?  Doesn't sound like it?

Cavo Doro Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Jayne S

Returned last Thursday after a week in Kalamaki staying in the Cavo D'Oro apartments.  This was my eighth visit to Zante, my fourth to Kalamaki and my first stay in this accommodation.  I knew exactly where this place was situated which is in an ideal location and I wasn't disappointed.

We stayed in block G5 and were on the top floor (penthouse!).  We had a beautiful view of the sea.  The room was compact but clean and adequate for our needs.  My only complaint was the miserable cleaner who used to knock us out of bed most mornings at 10am.  Okay, we're not completely lazy but we're on holiday so we used to like to lie in a bit after having late nights!
I never heard any noise from any other occupants and would definitely stay here again.

It appears this accommodation is only in Airtours and Sunset/Thomas Cook next year.  We travelled with Manos but it does not appear to be in their brochure for 2006 which is a shame.

The pool area was nice but can imagine in peak season it's a free for all to get a sunbed and then you'll end up lying on top of each other.  We preferred to go to the beach anyway.

What was also good was it was a fab location for the Lighthouse Restaurant which does a fab breakfast.  Okay it may not be the cheapest but the quality is superb!  Also our friend Lambros' bar, Savoy was right outside the entrance which meant after a heavy night on the voddies, we could just roll home to bed!!

It was the first time my boyfriend had been to Zante and he thoroughly enjoyed himself and found the accommodation to be much more superior than when he has stayed in Corfu.

Suffering from PHD now - post holiday depression especially now the winter nights are drawing in.  Looking forward to 2006 when no doubt I will return once again to the beautiful island of Zakynthos.
