Tsilivi Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Andrew S

Just returned from a two week stay in the planos aparthotel and we all enjoyed the holiday, first time in greece so the toilet situation took some getting used too. The hotel was good with all staff friendly, we ate out every night and never had a bad meal (although we were ripped off at Manos grill, so we never went there again and don't recommend it). The beach at Alexandria hotel made a welcome change from the hot house pool, with a nice sea breeze to cool everybody down. Be carefull of the traffic though, the greeks have only one road law, and that is to drive on the right whenever possible, pedestrians are a fair atrget as everything else on the road, beware those with small children. But it is a good resort, no trouble just everyone enjoying themselves, you'll love it.

Island Tour by Coach - (Zante Excursions)

Andrew S

We booked the round the island tour by boat and coach by Dionisis tours aka rip off merchants, take my adviace and book with your travel reps (never thought I would say that??). The boat tour was a disaster, it cost 60 euros for two adults and two children, it started off ok but when we reached the northern point of the island the sea state changed dramatically, the lower deck looked something like an A&E ward after a major traffic accident with most people throwing up. The guides on the boat spoke a lot of the tour in Italian but not muvh in english, so I havent a clue what I missed, stay away. The round the island coach tour was not bad (again 60 euros), the guide Malcolm certainly knew his stuff, but they take you to insignificant places just to fill in the day. The coach had seen better days, just compare it to what the germans get, but the draiver was excellant. We also had the experience of visiting Zakynthos with them, which is just a glorified bus service between the resort and town, no guide, no commentary. Conclusion, pay the extra nd get the quality, what made me laugh was at the front of the coaches was a plaque sayong they were professional greek toursit service, guess that one yourself.

Manos Grill - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Andrew S  (25 August 2002)

Sorry to be the party pooper but I don't recomend this restaruant. I ate their with my family, two adult meals and two childrens meals, the usual drinks and it came to a staggering 43 euros, by far the most expensive meal of the stay, we were ripped off. I'm not fooled by the false plesentaries, the ringing of the bell when someone leaves is only for the waiters to prepare the table for the next set of punters, the fish taverna across the road is by far better quality in terms of food and price, sorry chaps but I would recomend you stay away and vist the more tradtional greek establishment.

Nemesis - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

We ate their once and found it an extremely good meal, they even surprised us at the end by giving my family complimentary drinks, good quality and value, thank you.

Kaliva Pub - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Andrew S

Good food and entertainment at this taverna, would certainly recomend it.

Eurobank ATM - (Other Things in Tsilivi)

Andrew S

There are only two cash macjines in Tisilivi, beware take you euro traveller cheques, we cashed ours in the hotel (planos aparthotel) it was easier and cheaper than outside.

Planos Bay Aparthotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Andrew S

Excellent hotel, staff exremely fiendly, my children are missing you already. The pool bar is good value than anything else outside with a full english breakfast costing 3.5 euros with a drink, outside this costs around 5 or 6 euros although the beer is a bit pricey, a bottle of Mythos or Amstell is 2.5 euros compared with 0.8 at the local Rena tourist supermarket. The staff work hard especially the maids keeping the rooms tidy and the pool bar lafy (sorry can't remember her name but she sure works damn hard). The rooms do get extremely hot in the night, my children even slept on the balcony some nights, then we payed for the air conditioning unit remote control (6 euros a day well worth it), I know that other guests even brought their own fan units to use rather than hire (2.5 euros a day). Entertainment is shared with the sister hotels the planos park and admiral, all next to each other, so we only had a short walk to either place, you have to witness Dean from the admiral ne's certainly a live wire and an attribute to all three complexes. To anyone whose visiting these apartments this year or next, youve made a good a coice and won't be disspointed. Anyone want further information than e-mail at david@ashaw23.fsnet.co.uk

Coralli - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Andrew S  (25 August 2002)

One of our favourites, not because of the price but the location, it's fantastic set just off the beach with views across Kefalonia and the mainland, what a setting especially when getting dark. The food is excellant and so is the price, we came back twice, and even enjoyed a last day lunch with my wife (without kids) before returing, superb.

Menir - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Andrew S

Not one of our favourites, suckered into coming in without checking out first, live and learn.
