Cave Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Declan G

Visited this bar last Thursday evening ( 23rd May ), very nice looking and the plants round the bar are very pretty ( lots of insects due to the plants, did not bother me, but the wife was getting a little agitated ). Drinks were a little more expensive than the other bars we visited, but not too much more as long as you keep the other half of the Bacardi Breezer's.

Mermaids - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Myself and my Wife ate here every night we were in Kalamaki (last week). Excellent menu, excellent service, excellent food and excellent prices. All the staff here work very hard and you do not need to ask for anything. A must for anyone visiting Kalamaki.

First Choice - (Tour Operators in Zante)

Declan G  (28 May 2002)

Just returned Sunday ( 26th May ) from Zante, we could not have asked for a better Holiday. Once you have experienced the rather interesting experience of Zante Airport arrivals and baggage reclaim, you tend to think that this Holiday is not going to be quite as you had planned. I must say I was very impressed with the Reps from First choice, nothing was too much trouble and they really do help in making your Holiday as enjoyable as possible. Well done First Choice, you have a good team in Zante. Give them a salary increase.

Amaryllis Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Declan G

In reply to Hayley... Just returned from Zante on Sunday ( 26 May ), stayed here at the Amaryllis Aparthotel. Accomodation is very clean, spacious, you even get a shower curtain and kettle, which is unusual in Greece. A little aircraft noise now and again, but it is not at all obtrusive. All staff and management at the Hotel were excellent, make sure you try their Bacon "n" Egg Rolls, they are great. Swimming Pool is very nice and clean, Pool bar open late and very good value for money. Is located a short walk from Kalamaki main area, less than 5 mins to the main drag, where you will find some excellent bars and restaurants ( recommend Mermaids ). If you want some really live nights out, take a short Taxi ride to Laganas, we visited it last Friday. I believe there are now 107 bars in Laganas, so you have a choice, it is advisable to avoid the Club 18-30 masses stumbling down the street, just in case one of them throws up over you. After a night in Laganas, retiring to a nice quiet Hotel in Kalamaki is just the tonic, and believe me it is very nice and quiet. I also recommed hiring a jeep to explore the island, there are some very beautiful secluded beaches towards the North end of the island. Myself and my Wife hired a new Suzuki Jimny, open top from Traffic, got a cracking deal including full insurance. Their number is 06950 234430, they will drop the car to your Hotel and collect at the end of hire period if you wish. Have a great time.

Plus Soda - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Myself, the Wife and Kids had a great night in here, will never forget Pedro from Mermaids doing his rendition of Cotton Eye Joe on Karaoke, that was funny

Mermaids - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Declan G  (21 August 2005)

We ate here on three nights during our stay ( 5th August - 19th August ), food was great, service was OK, although trying to get the bill proved problematic, had to ask numerous times. I agree with the comment on additional staff required during the busy periods, otherwise the experience would have been great. Prices were good.

During our visit in May 2002 we ate here most nights and it was excellent all round.

Castello - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Declan G  (21 August 2005)

Would have liked to try this place, myself and the family got so annoyed with the guy trying to ram his restaurant down your throat everytime you passed by, in the end we just ignored him, how much business do you lose like this???????????. Do yourself a favour mate and just be polite and say hello, if people stop to look at your menu, by all means intervene and speak with them about how good your food is, otherwise leave them alone, you might just get more business this way.

Thomson now TUI - (Tour Operators in Zante)

Declan G

Good service all round, nice to see the check in at the airport has been organised a lot better since our last visit. Minimal delays both ways for the flight ( 20 -30 mins ).

Stayed at the Exotica, nice grounds and pool area, rooms OK although not very clean.

Exotica Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Declan G

Just returned from a two week stay at the Exotica, location, grounds and pool area are very good. Rooms OK although not very clean, breakfast was good.

The Thomson Reps do a fantastic job, especially Ryan, where does he get his energy from?

Prices a bit excessive for " Optional Extras ", Aircon and Fridge, had to shell out 210 Euros on our first day for aircon in two rooms and one fridge, they did throw in two safety deposit boxes for free??

It would be better for aircon to be included in the holiday price during July/August, lots of other resorts I have visited do this. Shool holiday price hikes make it expensive enough for all.
