Alykanas Beach Village - (Accommodation in Alykanas)

Jane .

Having never stayed in a place with a pool and sunbeds I'm baffled by the earlier comment. Why just leave towels on the beach beds when it's clear no-one is there. What is wrong with simply stacking the towels tidily off the bed and using it? Is there a whole new protocol that we need to learn to stay in somewhere like this?

Matinas Taverna - (Restaurants in Alykanas)

This was good. The kids menu was worth a miss, chicken nuggets and chips etc. The food was good otherwise, the kids shared lamb chops, the service very attentative, the wine reasonable. Quiet, friendly, English service. Really worth the walk from the other end of the village.

Brilliant. As usual, why do we find the best place at the end of the holiday. Sardines, real squid with tentacles, a good choice of fish, posr in a wine sauce, pork in a cream sauce, lamb chops for the kids, and even gyros. The local wine was good and cold also.

Psarapoula Lemon Tree - (Restaurants in Alykanas)

We ate here twice, the first time it was poor so we tried again, as this used to be a really excellent place to eat. Not much better though. I tried the lamb kleftico, the meat wasn't cooked properly, it was so tough I just couldn't chew it at all.

Good lunch in a wonderful location. My fussy son had chicken and chips, the other had a toasted banana sandwich.

Zakynthos Airport - (Places to Visit in Zante)

I'm impressed, what an improvement. We queued only about 45 minutes, in the shade all the time. We were almost last to book in, the staff made a real effort to get us seats together, checking the ages of all the kids left in the queue and allocating the remaining seats. I keep hoping that we will be allocated single seats, so someone else gets our kids, but no such luck! The reps were efficient, everyone was friendly, and no-one in the queue was complaining. The departure lounge air con was working, the shop was good, what else could we want. Oh - and the luggage was straight on to the carosel on the way out - during harvest even! Last time we waited 2 hours for the luggage, then had an 18 hour delay on the way back, so we weren't keen on meeting the airport again, but it really was OK this time.

Alykes Tourist Train - (Zante Excursions)

Daryl - from your comments scattered around this site you seem to have a problem. You are rude and angry about everything on the comments I have seen, what a pity, as you seem to have had such a poor holiday. Could I recommend that you visit your doctor and discuss some treatment for depression / anger, really Zakynthos wasn't that bad, and this must be one of the best local history museums anywhere in the world. What a pity for your anger and boredom to spoil such a peaceful holiday.
