Whitehouse Studios - (Accommodation in Alykanas)

Claire

I can't understand why there aren't many comments about these super apartments. We have just returned from a two week break and can only say that everything about this holiday was PERFECT ! The apartment itself is of a good size and clean. You only get the basics ( air con payable locally, fridge, two cooking rings, small amount cutlery / crockery, but the basics are all you need (who needs satellite TV on holiday for godsake ? !)
Pavlos the owner is very proud of his beautiful pool ( cleaned religiously morning and evening ) and people from neigbouring accommodation were regular visitors as it was such a pleasure to use - combined with the fact that there was a severe shortage of sunbeds and room to sunbathe at both the Alikanas Beach village AND the Alykanas apartment studios which are both very close.
Pavlos is a great host who obviously cares about his customers. He deserves a medal as his wife Karen has just had a baby daughter so is unable to help out at the bar, and Pavlos is working incredibly long hours. He was always cheerful and ready for a joke though and was at his happiest when he could see how happy his guests were.
We'll be back !!!!! and so will most of the people we met there !!!!!

Alykanas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Claire

Alikanas is a great little resort which has all you need for a stress free holiday. It has a few lively bars but no real nightclubs or discos so is perfect for families. For those cautious holidaymakers amongst you, you'll be pleased to hear that English food etc. is readily availble from both the restaurants and supermarkets.
WARNING !!!!!Avoid ANY coach trip around the Island booked either with your tour operator or a local tour organiser. EVERY person we met who'd been on a coach trip said that they were dreadful and a complete waste of time and money. Take a boat trip instead if possible (or hire a car )Alternatively there is a great little trip by motorised train, the "TRAINAKI" which is only 2 1/2 hours long, suitable for all ages, and takes you to some more out of the way places. Cost is only 10 euros adults and 5 for kids and that includes museum entrance fee and free wine tasting session ( and they aren't stingy with the wine ! The train leaves twice a day at 1.45pm and 6.00pm from near Dionisos restaurant near the mini golf site.

Poseidon - (Restaurants in Alykanas)

Claire   (04 August 2003)

WORST RESTAURANT IN ALIKANAS - DON'T GO.
Pushy staff, rubbish food and expensive. We hated it and didn't meet one person who had a good word to say about it ( so it wasn't just us being picky )
