Dias - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Sandra M

We stayed in the Dias Studios last August/September and couldn't fault them at all. Obviously they had just been open for a few weeks but they were quite "plush" for Greek studios. Ample room and although there was only two of us, the room did have a third folding bed which would have fitted in the room without it getting cramped. Even had a table and chairs in the kitchenette area which is a novelty for Greece. The pool, although small was lovely. Some days we felt like we had our own personal pool as it was so quiet. The only downside was that they didn't do any snacks, just drinks, crisps and ice creams.

Unfortunately Olympic were unsure they were going to be contracted these studios for the 2004 season as they were looking to go with a Scandinavian firm for more money!! It would seem that perhaps they have done this as it is not in the brochure for 2004. Shame, as these studios were lovely and had a very private and personal feel as there was only 18 studios in total.

As for the Dias Restaurant it was okay. We ate there I think three or four times during our stay and the Kleftico was lovely. I had a chicken dish one night which was okay but nothing to write home about (always think chicken tastes strange in Greece) and the Moussaka was disgusting. It was dry, stodgy and basically had no substance to it. I'm not one to complain so I just said I wasn't hungry when the waiter collected the plate. Avoid at all costs the Moussaka. The staff are very friendly and pleasant though and I would go back for the Kleftico!!

Michaels Place - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Have eaten here a few times over the years we have stayed in Laganas/Kalamaki.

Food quite nice and generous portions but feel that the prices are a little steeper than other restaurants within the vicinity.

Canadian Hotel - (Accommodation in Laganas)

Sandra M

Only six weeks on Sunday till we land at the Canadian and although the reports seem quite favourable staying here I would just like to know one thing if any previous occupants could advise.

Would it be wise to take a couple of bath towels with us for showering etc? Any advice gratefully accepted!!

39 days to go hurrah!!

Savoy Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Sandra M  (14 April 2004)

It's at the far end of Kalamaki (the old village) past Angels bar, opposite the Cavo Doro Hotel, in between a tourist shop and the Lighthouse Restaurant. Not very brightly lit up! Lambros is the Man!! 18 days to go!!

Lighthouse - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

I know there's been some animosity in the past between the ISIS and the Lighthouse, but have to disagree with some of the derogatory comments made about this place. Their breakfasts are fab along with their evening meals.

Veronica is a lovely woman, really friendly. Just because she hasn't got a permanent grin on her face doesn't mean she's miserable and moody. I mean do you permanently have a smile on your face?? If you answer yes, you better get it extracted by your GP!!!

Michaelos - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Utterly depressed having just returned from Zante on Monday morning. We have been to Zante on seven occasions now and only on this occasion managed to visit this establishment. All I can say is "Yum". It is a bit out of the way but well worth the effort to get to!! Delicious!!

Lighthouse - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Jayne S  (19 May 2004)

Veronica and Derek rock!! Just got back on Monday.

They do the best breakfast on the island (proper bacon) and not swimming in grease! Had one evening meal and two Sunday dinners which were just scrummy!! Cannot believe people complain about this place, there's just nothing to complain about, unless they're called Victor or the like!!

Been regular visitors for the last couple of years and intend to go back later in the year, so don't worry Veronica and Derek, We'll remember the gravy browning and pease pudding!!! (not forgetting the melton mowbray pies!!). And thanks ever so much for putting those sarnies up for us for the airport. See you later in the year!!

Estia - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Certainly different menu to other restaurants. The food actually came served in a different fashion too.

Overall the food was okay, but could have had another helping and the prices were slightly more than other places.
