Parthenon Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

I have just returned from a week in Zakynthos, staying in the hotel Venus in Kalamaki travelling on my own for the first time. I ate 3 times in the Parthenon and found it to be the best restaurant in Kalamaki, the waiters were friendly and always smiling, the service was very efficient and the food was delicious. I had the Stifado, Chicken souvlaki and on Sunday evening the Sunday chicken roast dinner (complete with Yorkshire puddings!). They were all excellent value for money and very tasty. The bread at the start is a welcoming sight and the drinks are not too expensive. As it was the first week of the summer season most places were pretty quiet but this restaurant seemed to be the only one that was constantly busy each night. Highly recommended.

Venus Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

I have just returned from a week at the Venus Hotel. It is the first time I've holidayed alone and I must say that I picked the perfect hotel. It's a family run hotel and all the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are great, quite spacious and spotlessly clean (cleaned daily). I had a great view from my balcony overlooking the hills/mountains/side road. The breakfast is typically Greek and I really enjoyed it. The pool area is great with the snack bar serving tasty snacks. The mattresses for the sunbeds are €1 extra per day, which does make a big difference to your comfort! As it was the first week of the summer season it was fairly quiet in most places and there was no entertainment in the hotel apart from bingo one night. The entertainment was due to start the 2nd week. The weather was dodgy (one day of rain, another of gail force winds, another of completely grey clouds!)but when the sun came out it was brilliant, around 21 degrees. Not expensive in the resort generally, Zakynthos town excellent for shopping. Would definitely go back to this hotel but not early May!
