Mimoza Hotel - (Accommodation in Argassi)

Dean D

Recently returned from a stay at Mimosa Beach Hotel in Argassi. We stayed in a "bungalow" just a few yards from the sea. There are also Hotel rooms, apartments and a swimming pool and beach bar/snack bar. restaurant is said to be good but never seemed very busy so we never tried it. Bungalows are basic,as you would expect with Greek accomodation, but comfortable. Fridges can be hired and air condtioning is available locally, but both are expensive. (2000 dr. per day). Staff friendly and helpful, grounds well maintained. The biggest drawback is that the pool is open to all, and most people using it seem to be from other places. they also charge residents and visitors alike for sunbeds & umbrellas. (500 dr. each sunbed/umbrella). Breakfast is Continental and basic, (bread, jam, cheese, meat, juice, cake, cornflakes, yoghurt, peaches, Tea & Coffee.), but you can get a "English" breakfast directly opposite the Hotel.

PETER is quite a character, and always made us feel we were welcome and our custom was appreciated. Greek dishes are served in the traditional way unlike many of the other restaurants. If you don't want what's on the menu, just tell them what you want and they'll happily do it. I note many others have commented on Peter, all I can say is, he certainly didn't annoy us, but understand that his "act" may not be to everyones taste.

Sue,Angelo & Christos always greeted us like old friends, we went ther several evenings until the early hours (do they ever close?).They also offer "Snack bar" menu which we tried one evening for a change and it was very good. Sue will even do you a takeaway if you're not too late in asking.

Symposiom - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Situated at the far end of the main street as you head towards Zakynthos Town. We were tempted to go as it looked like a really nice place, and in a great location, right next to the sea. Sadly that was the only good thing about it. The owner (or senior waitress) is Australian and has taken traditional Greek dishes and corrupted them with a " new cuisine" style of presentation & ingredients. The wine was over priced and foul. We tried to "fill up" on desserts, but everything we ordered was "finished", They recommended the cake as it was the only thing they had. I would avoid this one, folks.!!
