Lucy - my boyfriend and I stayed at the Venus in 2003 and loved it. It's basic but very clean and the pool area is lovely. It's also close to loads of lovely restaurants and bars and about a 5-10 minute walk to the beach.
Jenna - I believe the dionysys apartments are just up the road from the Venus and very close to the bars and restaurants. It would be about a 10 minute walk from the beach.
Kalamaki is great, you'll have a really good time! We are flying out again on the 5th July for a fortnight, we liked it that much!

We were also on Kelly's 28th Birthday Day (me being the Kelly in question!). Had a brilliant day, despite Paul questioning the fact that my hair is naturally blonde! It's an absolutely fab way of seeing a lovely island and you definitely get to see things that you wouldn't by other means of transport.
If you are going to Zakynthos I would thoroughly recommend going on this trip, drinking the water from the well, buying some hangover-free wine and not believing all you hear!
