Mermaids - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Jean T  (07 June 2005)

You may not remember us after all you have so many visitors each year, but Nick never forgets a bum so just to let you know that Holly & Lucy are leaving for Laganas this Sunday 12th & will no doubt call in to see you at some time during  their two week stay, just keep Lucy away from Yiannis.I have just booked a week commencing 10th July for Trevor & myself so Nick can get the TVR"S ready for Trevor, we promise to behave ourselves this year, getting too old for any debauchery, looking foreward to seeing all the old faces again. Much love Jean & Trevor X

Kalamaki Beach Taverna - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Jean T

We will be going to Kalamaki in 2wks time & have lunched at this taverna every year for the past 5yrs. The only hostile member of staff that we have come across is a deaf mute, so that is to be expected. The food is great and the staff are lovely and considering how busy its gets at lunchtime and it is the only beach taverna the service is great . No doubt we will be visiting soon and I can't wait to sit at the front of the taverna which is a lovely suntrap at midday eating a greek salad, deep fried kalamari or courgettes & tsatsiki.

Mermaids - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Jean T  (04 July 2006)

a big hello to con, adele, yiannis & all the staff, having arrived home last thursday i am already suffering withdrawal symptoms and longing for a tasty meal from mermaids. there were sixteen of us spending a week in kalamaki with a further two whose holiday overlapped ours for the first three days. con managed to seat thirteen of us at one table one evening, which probably lost him customers as he had to save tables, but he always tries so hard to please and anyway we did not mind waiting as we were drinking next door in plus soda. anyone going should try out the lamb kleftico, it proved to be the most popular meal amongst our group, lucy eating it on four or five occasions during our stay. we did try eating at other restaurants which were less popular and therefore you may not have to wait so long for your meal to be served (then again it must be hard to prepare & serve thirteen meals at once when you have a large full restaurant) but none compared to mermaids and this was our fifth visit to kalamaki so its not as if we haven't tried a few places. so out of sixteen of us, many who ate here most nights out of the seven that we stayed and not one complaint about food, service or price must speak volumes for mermaids. we can't wait for our next holiday there.

love to all from the essex mob !!!!!!!!!!  xxxxx

Plus Soda - (Bars in Kalamaki)

hi yiannis, con, mr hermes (yiannis), fat face(or was it fat cat/stavros), nick (who we only managed to see once-must be in love) paula & i suppose i should mention richie rich (though i don't see why after he called me gobs**te must be sour grapes because i complained about him not playing our requests)

thanks for the great time we had in plus soda every night of our weeks holiday especially the day when england played ecuador and everyone started drinking so early and celebrating into the morning, i can't believe we stayed out until 5.30am at our age. i also really enjoyed the night our crowd were all up singing karaoke but must apologise for holly, lucy & haleys version of the spice girls that wasn't singing but shouting. wish nick & lucy 'good luck' with their wedding & new life in oz i can't imagine not seeing him when we visit kalamaki again, and a big hug to yiannis the fantastic barman who makes us feel so welcome i hope he will still be there next year when we visit again.

loads of love to you all from jean, trev, danny, vicki, holly, jamie, lucy & the rest of the essex mob xx

Hera Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

We ate here once on our weeks holiday and the food was great especially the Beef Stifado and the Lamb Chops that my husband ordered, he could not believe his eyes when the plate arrived with eight large chops plus jacket potato, rice & vegetables, we never can clear our plates, no matter how tasty the food is in restaurants in Zante as the portions are enormous. We really liked the complimentary shot & plate of mixed melon at the end of the meal, anyone going should try this restaurant and a good tip is if restaurants are very busy you should have a lovely meal reasonably priced.

P.S. The greek meze starter was also very good but too much for one person.

DJ Rich you have not seen the last of us yet, my son Joe & his girlfriend Rosie are on their way as I send this message. Take care of them he is not like me, he's very quiet and has terrible taste in music but I don't suppose you will receive any requests from him.

love Jean (ESSEX MOB) XXXX
