Levante Speedboat Trip - (Zante Excursions)

Wendy L

My family have been visiting Tsilivi for many years and we always love to go with Spiros on his trips.  This June we went with him on his afternoon trip turtle spotting.  Spiros knew that my mother in law who is in her seventies was coming with us and he brought her her own personal umbrella to use when we stopped so that she would not get too hot.  What a gentleman!!  Spiros managed to find a couple of turtles and was able to tell us when they would be coming up for air so that we could all get good pictures.  Some of us  got into the water and were swimming along with the turtle!!  How great is that?? In answer to some of the comments that have been made, I would never believe that Spiros would do anything that might put the turtles in danger as he loves his island and all the beautiful things in it.  The stop at Turtle Island was great and the boat shops are fantastic.  One man pulls alongside Spiros' boat and you would not believe what he has got.  He makes up rolls and has icecreams and drinks all in a proper fridge on a tiny boat.  It is spotlessly clean and he even wears latex gloves when making up the rolls etc.  We went to the Keri caves which are amazing with deep clear blue water and stopped at St Nicholas for refreshments.  This is a lovely place.  Spiros lets the ladies steer the speedboat and although there were no children on this particular trip, I have been with him on other occasions and he does let the children up to sit with him.  It is a fantastic day and as you are out from 1.30pm until around 7.30pm I think that it is great value for money.  Spiros knows everything there is to know about the island and the trips are never the same.  In fact, Spiros rocks!!!!!  We love him.

Day trip to Kefalonia - (Zante Excursions)

IN REPLY TO PAULA HUDSONS COMMENT ON 18SEPTEMBER 2005

WHEN WE HAD A HOLIDAY IN KEFALONIA IN 2003 WE WENT TO ARGOSTOLI SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE FORTNIGHT AND THE SHOPS WERE FANTASTIC

MUCH BETTER THAN ZANTE TOWN WITH WIDE PAVEMENTS AND OPEN PIAZZAS AND NO TRAFFIC AT ALL

THERE WAS A CHOIR SINGING GREEK FOLK SONGS IN THE MAIN SQUARE AND THE RESTAURANTS AND TOURIST SHOPS WERE ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT

THE WHOLE OF ARGOSTOLI WAS REBUILT AFTER THE BIG EARTHQUAKE IN THE OLD STYLE AND THE WATERFRONT IS LOVELY

DON’T KNOW WHERE THEY TOOK YOU TO BUT IT CERTAINLY WASN’T THE MAIN TOWN

WHAT A SHAME!!

Re Carolines question
I would say that the trip is not suitable for a child of that age because of the long time spent at sea and the nature of the trip.
That is purely my opinion though

Red Apple Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Wendy L          10/10

The Red Apple is a new bar and it is really great.  The boss, Spiros, was at Kaliva for a few years and he makes fantastic cocktails.  The bar has loads of TVs for all the big sports matches and there is a great atmosphere in there.  The Red Apple is located on the road to the Caravel Hotel close to the Planos Bay Apartments and the Admiral Hotel.

Pop in for one drink and you will want to stay. !!!!!

Athina Studios - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Wendy L          10/10

The Athina Studios are excellent.  The rooms are basic and not very big but have everything that you could want.  The cleaning is very good and done on an almost daily basis.  The owners Dinos and Maria and their daughter Athina are lovely people.  There isn't a pool but you can use the pool at the Alamis opposite.  There are two mini markets nearby and Dinos and Maria also have a fruit shop next to the apartments that stocks lots of local goods such as wine, olive oil and honey.  The apartments are off the main road so there isn't so much traffic noise and the beach is a very short walk away,

All the apartments face towards the sea but because of a hill, the sea is only visible slightly from one of the upstairs apartments.  All the apartments have balconies with the ground floor ones being slightly bigger.

You get the sun on the balconies in the morning and then in the evening they are in the shade which is nice.  You can always have the front door open to get the sun into the apartment but be careful of the wind blowing through in case the door slams.  There should be a little hook behind the door so that you can secure it open but this is Greece after all, and it may have fallen off.

Don't sleep with the balcony doors open, especially on the ground floor.  Apart from the security aspect, the local cats will wander in.  Upstairs and downstairs, the mozzies and midges will get you.

There is air conditioning which you pay for on arrival and also there are strong boxes in the rooms which you can also use.  A deposit is charged which is returnable.

There are a few small restaurants nearby, the best of which is the Roof Garden at the Planos Beach apartments almost opposite.  The main town is at the top of the road with the bus stop and taxi rank by the Mediterranee Hotel.

We have stayed in many different apartments in Tsilivi in the last fifteen years but these are the best for us.

Planos Bay Aparthotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Wendy L

Hi - could somebody please tell me where exactly the Planos ApartHotel is in Tsilivi?  I am getting the idea that it is near to the Planos Bay and the Admiral on the road that leads down to the Caravel? Is that right?

Thanks in advance
