Macedonia Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

David G

We have recently returned from staying at the Macedonia Apartment/Hotel on Sunday 24 July. The hotle has a subheading, " Great Alexander" all that i can say is that this was the only thing that was great about the accommodation. From day one there was a leak into our studio (118) from the sudio above. This was reported to the rep who went to Tasso about it. The response to this problem was apparently that we will deal with it later. This was clearly a health and safety issue, which would seem to be ignored by the owners of this accommodation. I identified the problem and informed the rep, who again spoke to Tasso, who again ignored the problem. What was the problem, I hear you ask? The air conditionong units have a condensor which collects water and should be emptied on  a regular basis, if it is not emptied thenm it overflows. Guess where did the overflow go to, yeas thats right apartment 118. It got to the stage where we wouldn't go onto the balcony as it was a hazard. When di the problem stop? When the rep on the second last day went into the room above (218) and emptied the canister. Overall a poor response from the Management of the hotel in regards to the health and safety of guests. Problem 2 a fridge that was poorly maintained, was rusty and was clearly a health and safety hazard. It even had a mind of its' own and was prone to defrosting itself whenever it felt appropriate. Poos hygiene regarding the clearing of bins form the bathroom. I can understand and accept that the rooms and bedding are changed twice a week, but when theree of you are sharing a studio it wiould seem proper to clean the bathroom more than twice a week.

The Garden - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

David G  (26 July 2005)

As a family we went to "The Garden" on four seperate occasions. All I can say is that the food was excellent. If you are looking for auathentic greek food with freiendly service and reasonabale prices then you should visit "The Garden". Try the Mousaka it is light and delicious with a hint of nutmeg. Eilidh, had Prok Souvlaki which was a treat, freshly cooked on a charcoal barbecue with a sauce and lemon. Also recommended is the lamb from the oven as well as the chicken. We found the food good and the prices reasonable, where else in kalamaki could you feed a family of three  for under thirty euros.

Castello - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

David G  (26 July 2005)

Generally the food was good and I would recommend the Pizza. However steer clear of the Lasagne asd thery seem to feel that it should not have any tomatoes in it. never trust a place where they have to have a seller ouside. If the place is good it doesn't need someone to drag you in.

Michaelos - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

As always the food and service at Mikaelos was excellent. We all anjoyed our time there and will hope to see Dennis and his staff aagin. Try the mix starter for two, great value and an interesting selection. The beef Stifado is also worth a try.

Time Out - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

David G  (27 July 2005)

As a lunch time place to visit Time Out is execellent. The service and food were good and way above average for a fast food establishment. I would recommend the gyros, especially the pork. If you can manage it the lasrge one is worthwhile. Although we dioid eat here in the evening on one accasion, it is not a restaurant and this should be remembered. Overall a good pce to frequent.
