Two Brothers Studios - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Arrived bk 6hrs ago n had 2 comment!

Myself & my partner Rick (AKA Salmon!) were terrified (well, me more than him!) after reading comments about security.   We had pledged to demand a rm change if we were given rms 1-30!  On the coach, Steph, the rep, handed us our rm details.  Low and behold rm 27, OH NO!!!

We decided to check it out & then speak to Steph

computer crashed, i have lots more to comment!

on arrival the maids were very helpful & helped us to lug 2 very heavy cases up 3 flights of stairs.
after being shown to the 'dreaded' rm 27 & its block, we were immediately surprised!  the rm was modern, clean & airy.  basic in greece does mean basic & compaired to other resorts & other islands we were lucky.  we had a kettle, toaster & even a shower curtain (which some lack!).  i will say that there were some grumbles frm a few people in the grnd flr rms as they didn't seem as modern & well kept.

with regards to the security, we were very happy.   (phew!)
i slept with our cases against our door the first 2 nights, but we soon realised we were safe.  following the previous comments, it is still unclear as to what did or didn't happen.  i don't believe there were 'albanians with master keys' breaking in.  we saw no signs of crime on the island over the two wks, so make up your own minds.  just don't pre-judge like us! just be sensible & lock your drs in the day and at night. you would at home so it's common sense really!

the maids, along with costas & panos can appear a little grumpy and unfriendly at first, but you soon realise this is just the language barrier.  we brits don't bother to learn much, if any greek but at the same time expect them to be fluent in english!

they work very hard over all.   they even did our washing up!  yes, clean towels every other day would have been preferred, but it wasn't the end of the world, & it certainly shouldn't dampen your holiday!
be warned though, the maids usually appear around 10am, so be up if you want a proper clean because after a few late nights & long lie-ins, we were caught half dressed!

click to enlargethe pool was fantastic!  definately it's best feature.
many pools in kalamaki seemed to have lots of chemicals that hurt your eyes.  ours didn't.  it was like fresh water & quite warm.  we had some great days by the pool.  the lay-out of the beds around it meant everybody got to know each other very quickly.  we have some fantastic memories of our days here, especially messin about with the kids! (and the big kids, steve, liam & salmon to name a few!)

the entertainment at night is very poor, but you make your own really.  it has a lovely pool-side bar which we used both day and night.  we became very friendly with both young couples & families who came over to use the pool frm the whitehouse aptments.  they too spoke highly of their rms & the maid service. we may just have been lucky with regards to our accomodation but as long as you don't go with luxury in mind, you should love it!

we were very sad to leave  & despite our preconceptions, would return for another summer, although i doubt it'd ever be the same without the same great bunch!   hannah & katie you better write to 'salmon' or he'll cry!  he's missing you already!  shaba! big up 'waps-out' 'glitter boy' 'drive by' n 'emma' (damm we never got you a nick name!

xx
