Cavo Doro Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Claire H

Following comment by Martin Hudson ...... Myself and my boyfriend stayed at the Cavo D'oro app's with my parents and little sister. When arriving we were all at shock at the appearence of the appartments, it looks just like a bar from the front and nothing to what we were use to. All of the photos we have viewed on the internet are misleading as they are taken from the back of the apartments, there is none from the front and nothing to indicate this was the case ..... another dissapointing thing is when we eventually found our room it was tiny, hardly any space to move especially when the suitcases where there and we had to share a balcony with next door! The bedding was changed everyother day and the blankets we were provided smelt foisty as though someone had urinated on them and they had not been washed . Although we were B&B we had a toaster and a kettle which i thought unusual, especially when my parents were self-catering and they did not have none of this.

Moving onto the BBQ Greeknight at 'Harry's Pool Bar' every Saturday night, the food did not go anywhere near a BBQ and was bearly cooked properly and cold . The dancing, plate smashing and fire stunts where good however we found ourselves paying 12Euro each for this and people who had not payed anything where comming into eat the food and watch the show as no tickets where givven and was not checked. This is the only entertainment on although the boards advertised 'kareoke' and 'deal or no deal' which were never done and when asking about this was told that they do not play then anymore, so why advertise for them?! also apart from 'click' played every single night at 10.30pm .... it is the most boring tedious game in the world!!
About a week into staying at the appartments the fire alarm went off at about 5am and again at 6am to which none of the staff could explain why this had happened.
As a whole we were unhappy with the full experience of the Cavo D'oro and will not be booking up to visit there again and would advise against it.

Deppys - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

When my parents kept on going on about how great Deppy's breakfast was it was only a matter of time till we tried it .... The service and prices are great and the food was delicious!

I would have the 'Healthy option' near enough every morning which gave me my name of the 'healthy option queen' .... this is a big slice of melon, a slice of toast and greek yogurt and honey. Because im not the biggest honey lover in the world and the yogurt on its own was a bit too much for me i was offered a different option ...... i got givven some strawberry 'monkey blood' in the honeys place, which when mixed together with the yogurt is to die for!!
My Boyfriend got filled up everymorning with the 'special' which is a propper english brekky, none of this cheese and ham on bread greeky stuff ... it even has english sausages which he was pleased about (not greek sausage which is basically grilled hotdogs, iew!) and because he got stung off one of the crazy giant wasps he was offered an extra sausage and hash brown which was very nice of them!! would deffo recommend this place to anyone!!

How big are the plates at this place?! My Boyfriend got the mixed grill, we thought it was a bit pricey at 22euro but when it come out it was well woth the money! meat meat and more meat piled up on a massive plate, along with some tatey wedges aswell .... we had to wait a while for the meals but it was really busy both times we went in so what else can u expect ...... well worth the money, deffo recommend this restaurant!

Michaelos - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Slightly out of the way to where we were staying, Cavo D'oro, however it was well worth the walk. The service was great, very professional and has a big choice in food. I had Beef Yoiuvetsi which was lovely, the beef cooked to perfection in a hot pot with pasta .... yummy and very filling!

Panorama - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

This was one of the first restaurants we tried, we were impressed with the view we were givven and took a few fotos ... however the meal portions were not very big at all. My boyfriend got a mixed grill and it had the tiniest steak on in the world, not worth the amount we payed for it. I got some pasta which again was not the biggest portion in the world .... we did not even get any bread to start us off with, when every1 else around us did! We dont have any children however for ppl who are taking children away this place would give you a slight break as there is a play area for kid's which would be nice!
