Ammos Bar - (Bars in Alykanas)

Ann A          8/10

Lovely shady spot only a stones throw from the beech (hammocks under palm trees etc). Delicious salads and snacks at lunchtime and good vodka measures in the evening!  Hubby's diabetic and they kept his insulin in the fridge while we used the beach. Very relaxing, if a little away from the village centre.

Bonkers Bar - (Bars in Alykanas)

Ann A          10/10

Probably our favourite bar and not just because we were staying there (Whitehouse Apts).  Pavlos, Karen & their little girl Vicky, were really friendly and good fun.  Lovely bar snacks and frosty glasses of Mythos (or should i say Smythos!). Most nights spent hustling pool with Pavlos till the early hours...he usually wins but then he's used to the obstacles!! Even helped me decorate our balcony in middle of night ready for hubby's birthday next day, almost woke everyone up when a balloon burst!!!  Highly recommended.

Busters - (Bars in Alykanas)

Great freindly bar and in our opinion, the best breakfast in Alykanas!  Didnt try the big one (3 of everything, your name goes onto wall of fame if you eat it!), standard one was enuf for us, especially as it included fried potatoes.  Excellent quiz nights, different theme almost every night.  Takes a while to get around to the actual quiz tho, you usually have to sit thru a few games of click, which i liked but hubby got bit bored.  Only small negative, it was so hot in there, wish they had a few more fans around the place.

Catacomves - (Bars in Alykanas)

Ann A          8/10

Our regular stop off before dinner.  Nice atmosphere, we sat inside but there is a large balcony area (first floor level) where you can look out onto the main street below.  A good place to watch the world go by whilst sipping a few cold beers or cocktails.  Decent music played here too.  They have an off licence below, which we were told was as good if not better value than the supermarkets!

Dilemma Bar - (Bars in Alykanas)

Ann A          8/10

Popped in for a beer one day and meant to return for one of the exotic cocktails (containing maltesars & bounty bars as well as alcohol of-course).  However, it is more of a family bar (plenty games for kids etc)and gets good business from the AB hotel nextdoor.  Being a couple we tried to pick a quiet time to go back but didnt quite manage it b4 it was time to go home.  Next time definitely.

DNA Bar - (Bars in Alykanas)

Really friendly bar, nice atmosphere and free shots.  Good place to start or finish the evening, plenty good banter with passing horse & cart drivers!

Jammin Bar - (Bars in Alykanas)

Ann A          8/10

Another good bar, ideally placed for our first or last tipple (not including our first & last at Bonkers of course, where we were staying). Air-con and fans inside if you need to cool down. Hubby thought he knew all the card tricks until he went here and as for the one with the bits of plastic....very entertaining!  I think its here where you can book the little train trip which we didn't get round to but will do next time.  If you're lucky you may win it as a prize at one of the quizzes around town!

Jesters Bar - (Bars in Alykanas)

Ann A  (07 July 2008)        8/10

Only visited once as it was probably the furthest bar from where we were staying (down road to side of Busters) and the heat prevented us from wandering far.  Very friendly, nice lunchtime snack, hope to return next time to sample one of the roasts or weds. bbq.

Tipsy Toad - (Bars in Alykanas)

Ann A  (07 July 2008)        8/10

Probably the most surreal night of our holiday, doing a christmas quiz in 40+° of heat in June !  I think they do them once a fortnight, very odd but great fun, won a bottle of wine.  Quizmaster and staff deserve medals for dressing up in furry santa suit and elf costumes in those temperatures!

Whitehouse Studios - (Accommodation in Alykanas)

Ann A          10/10

Superb! Pavlos, Karen & little Vicky are perfect hosts.  Spotlessly clean studios, bar and lovely walk-in pool.  Friendly maid came most days, regular changes of sheets & towels.  Air-con available and essential at 7e per day.  In room safe box also for small charge. Lovely poolside snacks.  Everything was just-so but still managed to feel informal and relaxed.  Can fully understand why they get booked up early.

Paradosiako - (Restaurants in Alykes)

Ann A          10/10

Probably the best meal of the holiday, although we had a few good ones.  We just had the pureed feta with peppers and crusty bread to start, followed by pork fillet & moussaka.  Delicious!!!

Cosy Corner - (Restaurants in Alykanas)

Ann A          9/10

True to their word they were still serving when we arrived late (10.15pm).  Didn't have any of the much anticipated pie left at that time but plenty good alternatives.  It is popular and they do run out of their best dishes but if you let them know what you want they'll save it for you.  Very friendly and accommodating, good english and american breki's too.
