| Just returned from the Hotel Astir Palace. The maid service was excellent, the rooms were cleaned every day and the bed linen/towels changed every other day. Air con/Fridge were free. Unfortunately you have to pay for sunbeds poolside, beach etc. This hotel is in a great position away from the strip but near enough if you want the busy bars and clubs. Pool bar/ snack bar was excellent, friendly service, good snacks etc. Our room was on road at front of the hotel but was still reasonably quiet at night (barman from Hawaiian cocktail bar opposite the hotel was annoying, racing remote contolled cars up and down on road but it was always early evening). Breakfast was a bit of a "bun fight" with only one coffee dispenser and one toaster but quality reasonably good. | ||||||||||

Great Hotel, all the staff are very friendly, especially at the pool bar & on the reception. The location is superb, lovely for both the sea, and pool. Night life near enough, but faraway enough, not to cause any problems with noise. The cleanliness of the rooms is superb, and it seemed whatever time you left your room, you came back to find it transformed. Particularly impressed by the maid, who found a ring I had left on the bedside table during the rush for the taxi,we had, on a very early morning departure. This sort of honesty isn't found much these day's. 100% for this hotel we will certainly return again.

We stayed in the Astir Palace and spent the extra few euro for a room with a sea view and to be honest words just couldn't descibe how beautiful everything was The pool and pool bar were lovely and clean the beer cold and the food was tasty and quick and also had a great selection The meals in the restaurant were great too and we found it hard some nights to ignore the hotels menu to go out for food The room itself was unbelievable clean and special mention should be made about the housekeeping staff that cleaned the room to the highest of standards every day. In short when I go back to Zante not if but when I go back it'll be to the Astir Palace

| - have just returned from a 2 week holiday on the beautiful island of zakynthos. we stayed at the astir palace hotel....the rooms were lovely - particularly the ones with the beach view - hotel was very clean - staff very friendly and helpful....food was just ok.....Lamb in the oven should be renamed bones in the oven....however stuffed aubergines and stuffed tomatoes were very nice....there is plenty of room for improvement in the food area....the deserts were terrible - no choice at all - one little cake and the next night maybe a little dish of angel delight - just awful.....the hotel bar is just dead at night - no entertainment at all in the hotel.....hired a car for three days and visited all the lovely sights on the island....must say the blue wave restaurant next door to the astir palace provides food at a very reasonable price....and very nice too......a trip to the sakarina resturant is a must by free minibus available at a pickup point near the hotel..... | ||||||||||

| Just returned from the Hotel Astir. This hotel is great, our rooms were on the ground floor practically next to the pool. The maid service is amazing, the rooms were cleaned every day and the bed linen/towels changed every other day. Air con was free and there was a fridge in the room for which you had to pay for as an extra if you wanted to make use of it. We did and it cost 40 Euro's for the 2 weeks. We found all the staff to be very freindly except for one "lady" in the pool bar who was frequently deaf when it suited her with English guests. Panos the bar tender in the hotel bar in the evening is a prevert so watch out and don't be tempted to look at his photo collection which consist of pictures of his fornicating farm animals! This hotel is in a great posion away from the strip but near enough if you want the busy bars and clubs. | ||||||||||

| I stayed in the Astir Palace in June 2003. I found the hotel was absolutely brilliant. I was lucky enough to have a sea view which was beautiful. The hotel itself is extremely clean, bed linen and towels changed every other day. As I stayed in the hotel the last 2 weeks in June I had to pay for the airconditiong which was about €30 for 2 weeks. The food was OK gets a bit repetitive after 2 weeks and lacks a bit of variety although I would recommend the snack bar by the pool for a nice lunch. The only problem with this hotel was the bar is very quiet in the evening so it is best to venture outside the hotel. The hotel is located in a quiet area of the resort which is about 15 minutes walk along the beach to the main strip. There are several restaurants and small bars around the hotel if you don't fancy going to the strip. The beach itself is lovely, very shallow and warm water. Make sure you do a turtle trip whilst you are out there - well worth it! Last point - beware of Zante airport not a nice experience! | ||||||||||

| I stayed in the Astir Palace Hotel for 2 weeks in May 2000. I had a SIDE sea view room which means that to see the sea you have to put your head round the balcony and look right where you can see the sea through a small alley way! This was the only slight let down of the hotel. The food was fantastic and varied and the waiters were great. The pool was lovely, very clean and always plenty of sun beds, although you had to pay for them which is a bit stingy!! The beach was very quiet as the Astir Palace is the last hotel on the beach so people dont really come up that far. There is also a patch of lawn you can sunbathe on in between the pool and sea. The sea is lovely and clear and sandy and very shallow for ages. The planes fly really really close to the hotel but they dont really bother you. On your way home you can actually see the hotel out of the plane window! The nightclubs are at least a 15 min walk away which is good because the hotel is situated in a lovely quiet area, although there are some fantastic restaurants near so you can eat out if you dont fancy the hotel food. The rooms are brilliant, you get a TV and air con which was free at the time. You had to pay extra for the key to the fridge. The beach bar by the pool serves some great food in case you miss breakfast! Enjoy your holiday, I dont think you will be let down by this hotel unless it has drastically changed since 2000. | ||||||||||

| Hi all! I'll stay in Laganas during July and just wanted to ask, whether there are any possibilities to rent bicycles in Laganas to discover the interior of the island...and are there possibilities to relax during the day as we are going out at night?:-)is the beach in Laganas, near Astir Palace Hotel really as crowded as many people say? Thanks for your information! :-) | |
