Castaways

Restaurants in Argassi

Steve M  (03 September 2005)

Service was given by a waiter with attitude, to dark outside to see what you were eating. Made to sit where they want you to sit and as for the flamin fajitahs well nice to look at entertainment wise but if you were at a table just foe two there was no room to make the fajitah so the meal went cold. Three times we asked for the bill just got ignored so had to go to desk to counter to pay. Not the best in Argassi but not the worst.Very expensive.

Mark W  (30 August 2005)

Niall   (05 August 2005)

What can i say the best restaurant in Argassi by a mile! Food was brillant, the staff were really nice and the lads at the door were really sound. Wish i had found this place in the first week.10/10

Carleh B  (29 July 2005)

this is the best restaurant ever!!!, there was lots of choice and all the meals were lovely, even my extra fussy friend found something to eat there- beans on toast!!.

we ate here 5 out of 7 nights and didnt get bored at all, the best meal i had was the chicken ceasar wrap, yum!!, and the best dessert was the chocolate and orange ice cream- lovely!!!
the atmosphere there is great and the views are stunning, but what makes it even better are the people that worked there, simon was always really helpful, stuart was georgeous, and illios well he was just lovely, he was always so happy and he was amazing with the flaming fajitas!!, loving your work illios and miss you loads!!, hands off girls, he's mine!!!wink

John C  (27 July 2005)

ate there 9 nights out of 14, once we found it we would'nt go any where else. the food was fantastic, the people were nice and it had a nice atmosphere. we would highly recommend it to anyone going to argassi.

Rachel G  (27 July 2005)

We ate here 5 out of the 7 nights, it was the best restaurant in Argassi by far and so much choice on the menu! The staff were all great to.

Newcastle   (25 July 2005)

wat can i say about this restaurant apart from its one of the best in Argassi. it is a must for every1 who is visiting argassi, the staff are really friendly and do anything for u! the Chicken Faijitas are the best ever and the margarita pizza is pretty gud 2! we will be back next year to see u and will have our first meal in castaways as it is the best by far!

Krystle T  (24 July 2005)

We loved it in castaways. The food is excellent, we ended up going their 4 nights in a row! The staff are really nice and friendly and don't rush you at all. Also you weren't pressured to go in there, you would get a nice smile and a welcome on your way in unlike some of the other restaurants that literally grab your arm on the way down and pull you in! Thankyou castaways for some really nice evenings, I miss your lasagne!!!!!! please send one to england!!

Krystle and Wayne xxx

Ciara G  (24 July 2005)

No matter what you wanted castaways had it on the menu from a chinese to a burger from a steak to a pizza not to mention the flaming fajitas. The staff were always friendly. you never felt pressurised to go in by people shouting at you from across the street. oh and i would reccommend the baileys icecream if you have rom for it at the end of the meal.

Andrew M  (24 July 2005)

Due to competition from other Tavernas we'd heard rumours that "bad vibes" were being put out about Castaways - All I can say is "take as you find" and try the place.  My kids (never easy to please when it comes to food), my wife and myself thought Castaways was excellent.  No rush to order, eat or get out, even at the time we went (mid/late July).  Staff were very friendly, and the choice of menu was extensive.
Our only regret was that we didn't notice the place a bit earlier.  One more added bonus - whilst there was a courteous smile/nod at the entrance of the taverna from the "doorman", there was not this dashing and/or shouting from across the street that comes from owners/staff of other taverna's, not a million miles away from Castaways.....plus the food from Castaways was better than these establishments anyway.

Sam D  (23 July 2005)

Paul K  (20 July 2005)

well lindsay u r putting ure life in ure hands by putting a comment like that up  i put up a bad comment and got beaten up by 1 of the staff last year  but it was a misunderstanding  but the staff here this year are really good and friendly  i have to say that they drink regularly in the oasis bar they are all good staff here this summer i not been there this year to eat but i hear good things just dont tell them if you go back that you put up a bad comment  to everyone concerned with castaways you are doing a great job guys  stuart mate rock on mate

Lyndsey   (19 July 2005)

This restaurant offers to much choice to start with.  The menu was huge and we ended up rushing into our choices.  One of us had the nacho bowl to start with which was lovely but all the other starters were poor.  Two of us had steak with was underdone and tasteless.  The other two had fajitas which were very greasy.  Not the worst meal we had but not the best by a long shot

Emma W  (15 July 2005)

We came here twice during our week in Argassi and we had a lovely time on both occasions. I had been here four years ago with my family and had a fairly enjoyable time but it has improved an awful lot since then. My food (voscopula and beef stifado) was very tasty and the service was excellent. Special praise goes to Stu who was extremely welcoming and to Simon- I have never seen a waiter work so hard! He was so friendly and helpful and really helped to make the evening even better. If you're lucky he might even show you his crazy dancing in The Factory later on!  Considering we were a group of sixteen, everyone was very accommodating and we would all recommend Castaways as a must at least once on your holiday, whether you go with your family or with fifteen eighteen year-old mates! Big up everyone at Castaways from all of us in Cheltenham, thanks for everything. xxx (love Emma, Kate, Vicky, Kathryn, Steph, Laura, Naomi, Gemma, Charlotte, Chris, Mike, Han, Andy, Sam, Tom & Juli)

H X  (12 July 2005)

Great set up - palm tree umbrellas!

Some of the dishes come in a skillet, with flames on! but they were expensive. The food was quite good, large portions. The pizza is perfect for sharing between two: works out cheap, but lots of it!

Emma P  (12 July 2005)

We went to Castaways every night of our holiday.  The food was excellent, a wide range of meals to choose from.  The Chicken Fajitas rule, and all meals are presented very well.  The cocktails are just the best in the resort!  And of course, the staff make it all worth while.  We found the staff to be very plesent and very welcoming.  All members of staff made a point of coming over to talk to us every night.  We would highly recomend anyone to go to Castaways at least once on their holiday.

Love the Suffolk girlies, Emma, Sam, Ruth and Hannah.

Chris   (11 July 2005)

the service and view were excellent, my girlfriend really enjoyed her beef, which to be fair was excellent. however, the rancid prawn i was served did nothing for me. really put a downer on an otherwise good meal. the starters were delicious, as were the cocktails. the upset stomach from the prawns was not so excellent. 5/10

Laura P  (08 July 2005)

This restaurant was the best in the resort

The food was tasty and the atmosphere top quality
Hope you are well Stuart!!

Irish_girls   (07 July 2005)

really nice food

Barbara P  (01 July 2005)

You should try putting a message on the Argassi messageboard - you'll probably have more luck on there as I think some of the workers in Argassi read it

Dan B (01 July 2005)

Hello, does anybody have a contact number for castaways or anybody that works there? really desperately need to get in touch ASAP.. contact on aintsoobvious@hotmail.com

Mathew T  (23 June 2005)

This place was sold to us very well by the guy outside, who to be fair to him, was telling the truth.  Food was good, was also one of them rooftop restaurants too, which was cool. Recommended! 9/10

Adam L  (23 June 2005)

Apparently this restaurant got 10/10...according to the PR chap.  Tried to sell us on both the food and the "fit waitresses" (who, to be fair, were).  Not a bad place to eat and the food was quite good - I had one of the custom stir-fries, which was chicken with satay.  Reccommend a visit.  8/10

Old M  (20 June 2005)

Assured by Stu outside that this was the only restaurant in Argassi to get 10/10 on Just Zante (we hadn't looked before, and didn't realise he was being a little economical with the truth), the beef stifado was good enough but not the best I'd had that week. Service was pretty good, and the price was very competitive. Stu told us on the way out that he knew that had been the best meal we had eaten in Argassi - not quite pal!

Sam J  (06 May 2005)

I cameon holiday 2003 4 2 weeks and ate here 12 times & returned last year for a week. The food is excellent the service remarkable. The Scottish waitresses were fantastic, Stu is a top bloke & Sarah they need you back you were an awesome manager. See you again this year.

Kirsty M  (09 March 2005)

Liked the Scottish staff, the food but most of all the rogue on the door Stu.

From Alan McDonald(from Scotland)

Kirsty M  (09 March 2005)

The food was first class, the staff were very friendly but Stu was the main attraction.

Paul K  (14 February 2005)

great restaurant if u like english grub i will never let them live down the fact the excused me of being dave the barman but under the bridge water is. very good food though have to admit it probably will not eat in here my self again but due 2 bad feelings but if u like english grub and friendly waiters eat in here stewart the p r is a good lad as well

Paul K  (25 December 2004)

well aud&scoot 2 fantastic and lovely girls if anyone needs applause it is them 2while the rest of the staff were accusing me of being dave the barman these 2 girls were fantastic towards me as i have said food is good in castaways no problem if you like good english grub this is the place to come with aud&scoot working there you have a great restaurant

Paul K  (19 December 2004)

well i cannot understand the people who say the have had a bad meal here food is good service can be dodgy at times i am not a favourite of castaways the staff accused me of being dave the barman which was proved wrong but if you like english food this is the place to come so there you go staff of castaways i have no hard feelings to youre restaurant the 2 scotish girls aud&scoot are so friendly promote them next year

Cristine&allen J  (06 December 2004)

been here quite a few times over the last couple of years but i hate to say the standards have definitly dropped the food is very dissapointing and the sevice has gone terrible bring back rachael when she worked there everythink ran like clockwork sorry peter but the truth hurts i know but i am sure you will sort it out

Scoot & Auds  (05 December 2004)

we thought the food woz out of this world it was fantastic the chefs were amazing and the staff were superb it woz nice to have friendly and polite people around us that could understand what we wanted and needed we will definatley be back

Gary F  (18 November 2004)

well we ate here twice during our 2 week stay in september the first time we ate here we had the steak n ale pie which was bland and full of gristle second time we came we had minted lamb with no mint we even had to wait 45minutes for our food still the staff were friendly enough and that smoothtalker on the door who tries to get you in could sell snow to the eskimos

Eddie E  (27 October 2004)

this is the best restaurant in argassi by far. the prices are very reasonable and teh food taste's so great. on our last night we had to complement the chef. plus the owner always gave us free shots and having free wine as much as you like most nights was a very tempting offer so by the time we came out of the restaurant we were abit tipsy. every thing was cooked to perfection, you have to try the one and only CASTAWAYS!!!

Emma J  (24 October 2004)

I dont know why this resturant is only rated 7/10 when it should be 10/10!!! Me n my mates eat her every night for the last 5 dayz we were there and every meal was spot on perfect! I tried a few resturants in the first week while we were there and none of them were no where near as good as CASTAWAYS! They are very generous with the portions and i was always full after my meals there. I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat anywhere else in argassi...castaways was deffinately the best...i just wish they had a resturant like it in nottingham! They also give free wine all night sometimes which was EXCELLENT! i couldnt fault it... EAT THERE!!

Paul K  (19 October 2004)

had a good meal here but not my favourite place in argassi for personal reasons but stewart and the 2 scotish girls are great

Laura & Al  (13 October 2004)

Ate here once. Food was fairly good, and reasonably priced. Wouldn't rush back for more, but woudn't avoid the place either.

Barry &  (13 October 2004)

Very good meal as always, good to renew friendships with Pete and his family.

Paul K  (09 October 2004)

ate here tonight waited 18 minutes for my food which was very nice indeed

Michelle B  (19 September 2004)

Food ok, great Saganaki Cheese - best one we had, not too impressed with the Sunday Dinner but reasonable all the same.

Barbara P  (24 August 2004)

Returned from my second visit to Zante a week ago and ate at Castaways twice during my 7 day stay. Once again, I couldn't fault the food or the presentation. Had the beef strips in blue cheese sauce wraps which were cooked to perfection and very tasty! My husband had the mixed grill once and the pork medallions in red wine and honey sauce with roast potatoes which he thoroughly enjoyed (and he is a very fussy eater!). We found the staff to be very pleasant and whilst at the peak time we waited a while for our courses, that suited us as we like a break between courses. Well done to the chefs and all the staff with special thanks to 'you know who!' :o) xxx

Donella   (03 August 2004)

My initial point exactly Kevlar. This is a site designed for tourists. Castaways is a fab restaurant, and Zante is a beautiful island.

Kevlar   (02 August 2004)

this website is for tourists to put they're honest comments about places they have visited so its a tourists guide by tourists not for people to have childish arguements on, sort it out site administrator delete all the rubbish on the site and leave just the publics opinion, by the way castaways has the best range of food and chefs in argasi.

Lianne R  (02 August 2004)

we've just arrived home from argassi, castaways was ok but dont go late!! food took an hour to arrive and then it was cold! dont think they can handle a full resturant.

Donella   (28 July 2004)

whats with all the attitude. my initial upset was that i along with many others, didn't enjoy looking at dave the chefs phot's of his new menu at castaways, which was a photo of a bird s**tting in a blokes mouth?! call me old fashioned, but it's ever so slightly off key, dontcha think?

Donella G  (28 July 2004)

Dave The (In his imagination) Chef. With reference to my earlier message, the irony was lost on you. Your CV is where your head is, in fantasy land. Why don't you give Panyotis a call and ask him for your 'CV'? I'll give him a bell now for you if you like? But then as you worked for him you would have his telephone number anyway.....

Tom W  (26 July 2004)

Good stuff i had a steak & ale pie it was packed with meat a really big portion. i've heard that the mexican is very good although i did not try it. The restaurant is a little like a snack bar though the night we went there was a quiz on it was a little irrotating while trying to talk over dinner.

Donella G  (22 July 2004)

Yes I am aware of that. I meant 'chief' as in 'boss,' but obviously the irony was lost on you....

Dave T  (21 July 2004)

donella isn.t it about time you learned to spell its dave the chef not chief

Donella G  (21 July 2004)

Oh Dave 'the chief,' get a life mate. Don't you have anything better to do. As if Peter would hire you?! If you actually did work in all these places, then how come eveyone denies having employed you? Oh and learn to spell too. Ridiculous behaviour for a grown 'man.'

Beth W  (20 July 2004)

we was in argassi for 2 weeks at the beginning of july and ate at castaways quite a few times and only ever had 1 complaint on our last night. i think it also helped that the pr stuart was gorgeous and we had free wine all the time. if we come back to argassi then we will definately be poppin in2 castaways.
cheers guys luv beth n kelly the welsh birds.

Tom W  (20 July 2004)

Ate at Castaways several times during our stay, easily one of the best restauraunts in Argassi, and fantastic value for money.

Alec M  (20 July 2004)

We ate there three nights in our week in Argassi and always found the food and service excellent and the best meals of the holiday Alec and Christine Maackenzie

Donella G  (18 July 2004)

i worked as pr at castaways in the summer of 2000. my 4 yr old niece wanted to see pictures on the internet of where her aunty worked. can you imagine the shock when opening the castaway pics to see the revolting image the 'dave the chief' put on there. i'm not easily shocked but this was disgraceful. this is a site that family's will visit, so children will look at them too. whatever grudge this sick and twisted man has, then go get some help, and leave this behaviour elsewhere. to anyone who has never been to zante, it is a beautiful island, and castaways is a fantastic restaurant. is there no way of removing these photo's? something needs to be done about this. and as for you dave, you are truly a sicko, who should keep his p**versions to other sites, not one intended for familys. shocking.

Dave T  (13 July 2004)

sorry to be leaving but i was sacked iam now going back into bar work again iam returning to the oasis bar were i started working in argassi i will not miss castawys the kitchen was not up to much anyway.
see you all soon at the oasis bar.
DAVE THE EX CHEF/NOW DAVE THE BARMAN

Paul S  (12 July 2004)

so dave the chef is a fraud oh well might come in and eat here in october just don.t keep me waiting an hour and a half for bangers and mash

Barbara P  (22 June 2004)

Fair enough Paul. So its the staff you are anti rather than the food then. By the way, I am just a holidaymaker who has recently returned and am certainly not paid or told to write anything good about this restaurant. I simply aired my views on the food and service I received whilst there. But it does seem to me reading through these comments that someone or some people have a personal grudge and are therefore writing opinions based on that grudge. But I may be wrong :o)

Paul S  (22 June 2004)

i thought this was what this website is for to air ones comment if the staff of this restaurant spend as much time and effort into seving food and customer relations as they do slagging off everybody who makes a bad comment on this page it really would be the best restaurant in argassi i.ve puy excellent for everything now is everyone happy

Barbara P  (22 June 2004)

It seems to me that this site is being used in a private vendetta against this restaurant for whatever reason. I don't think this is the purpose of this website and I personally think if anyone has a grudge against anyone, then they should conduct it in private and not use a website such as this to vent their anger.

Uggla   (22 June 2004)

ALLAN BEKER
R U STILL IN PRIMARY SCHOOL IT LOOKS IT BY UR SPELLING OR HAVE U SMOKED TOO MUCH POT U MUST HAVE BEEN SMOKING IT WHEN AND IF YOU WERE EATING IN THIS DUMP.
A HOLE BORIS BECKER WHATEVER YOUR NAME IS

Paul S  (22 June 2004)

what are you on about mate all my comments on other restaurants &bars are excellent first impressions last

Allan B  (21 June 2004)

YOU DONT HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO. BE CAREFULL WHAT YOU DO. BECAUSE EVERYBODY UNDERSTAND SOMOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR GIRLFREIND AND SOME OF THE WAITER AND YOU SPEAK BAD ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT.

Paul S  (21 June 2004)

THE BEST RESTAURANT IN ARGASSI

Matthew H  (19 June 2004)

The best restaurant in Argassi. the food was excellent the service was superb and the price was fair. U have to come and taste the great food and experience the awsome service!!!!!!!! 100/10

Paul S  (17 June 2004)

in response to barbara pooles comments i am not a burger munchin brit but a coniseur of authentic greek&english food this place was run by staff who could not run a monkeys tea party sorry to be so bold but it is the truth compiments when they are due same goes for critism

Bugbabe34   (16 June 2004)

We had the last meal of our holiday at Castaways. We had beef stifado, lamb kleftico, cheesy garlic bread and pizza. The meat was cooked to perfection. Although the portions were quite small, the food was lovely. We ate outside and it was a bit breezy, but that was out choice.

Barbara P  (15 June 2004)

I am really at a loss what to make of some of these comments. I have just returned from Argasi with my friend and my daughter and we ate at Castaways twice during our 7 day stay and we honestly cannot fault the food or the service. Having eaten in many of the restaurants over the years, this one had quite a unique menu and the food was cooked to perfection. We had the grilled king prawns (which were a little taste of heaven) and the sweet chilli chicken wraps for main course and my friend had one of the pasta dishes. The food was hot, very well presented and tasted lovely. All the staff were polite, friendly and efficient. I appreciate everyone's tastes are different and can only assume the negative comments are made by burger-loving Brits who don't appreciate well cooked, real food. Sorry if that offends anyone but that is my opinion. Barbara, Jen and Jackie xxx

Paul S  (14 June 2004)

well this has to be the worst restaurant in argaasi waited 1 and a half hours for bangers&mash which was lumpy i thought school dinners were bad do not eat here staff run around like headless chickens most of them look like schoolkids anyway avoid like plague bloody terrible restaurant

Maria F  (13 June 2004)

Went to Zante at the end of May 04 and went to
castaways. My husband ordered Chicken balti which was disgusting. The waitress came over and my husband explained that the meal was dry and tasteless and that he had lost his appetite and didnt want any thing else to eat. The waitress said she would speak to the chef. Nothig else was said, nobody came back to our table, eventually my husband went and asked for the bill and found we had still been charged for the balti, we just payed and left. The food I ordered was edible but nothing special, and whilst we were there I noticed somebody else sending food back. If I was you I would give this place a miss, the food isn't great and their customer relations are even worse.

James M  (09 June 2004)

Easily the best restuarant we went to during our 2 weeks on Zakynthos. They had a great selection of dishes catering for all tastes and are one of the few restaurants to take pride in the presentation of their food. We ate there on numerous occasions and particularly enjoyed the Thai Curry, Seafood Kebab, Tikka Masala, Fish Cakes and the Lamb stuffed with apricot and parmesan. There were many other dishes that we never got to try but will definately be back next year for more. If Blue on Blue gets 10/10 then this place is 20/10!!!

Sean B  (07 May 2004)

Meyself and my wife have been coming to Argassi for 3 years and found Castaways to be one of the nicest restaurants on the island. The staff are always friendly and the food excellent. We would definately recommend it and will also be back again this year.

Dave   (02 April 2004)

This restaurant is cool. Loved the setting, enjoyed the food and also the free drinks. Toilets were the cleanest in Greece by far as well.

Adrian D  (22 March 2004)

how can anyone say a bad thing about this place, i worked in argassi last year and ate at castaways 3-4 times a week whenever i got the chance, the food was fantastic the staff so nice i never had a bad meal in the time i was here, and when i arrived the resturant had 10/10 on this site, i think vindictive people who may have disliked a member of staff have dragged this site down and perhaps we should start getting back on track and using this site for the perpose it was set up telling the truth.

John M  (07 March 2004)

Really enjoyed this place, will definately be back next year.

Mary N  (10 February 2004)

I stayed in Argassi last August. I thought castaways was fabulous! Not only do they serve greek food, but what i call normal food too! After eating in greek restaurants all week it was nice for a change. The sunday roast was great!! The staff were really nice and down to earth!!! I'd definately recommend it to anyone staying in Argassi! Enjoy!

Angela O (05 February 2004)

i want to know if aragassi is a lively holiday spot in august.what kind of music is on in the bars what are nightclubs like.what would be best apartments to stay in that are close are in middle of all the action.is it anything like hersonnasis in crete.im 28 and its a girls holiday im goin on

Leigh S  (16 January 2004)

GARBAGE.

M C  (09 January 2004)

We went to Castaways after being recommended by a half-wit to go. I had some ribs that tasted of pap and I can honestly say I have more meat on my big toe than what was on them. The next round was a steak that was raw and there was blood all underneath and swimming around our plates. We complained to a waitress who went and brought us the same steak 5 mins later exactly the same with all the blood still swimming around. Needless to say we did not pay for this meal. How this restaurant was rated 10/10 on this site I do not know but it does make us wonder...

Colin H  (29 October 2003)

I ate there twice during my weeks holiday in Argassi. I found it a little more expensive than some other restaurants but then there was no cover charge unlike other places. On the first visit I tried the minted lamb and my girlfriend had the tikka masala, both were excellent. The next time we both tackled the seafood platter which was delicious. Would definately recommend this place and will be back next year.

K H  (28 October 2003)

The best Spaghetti Carbonara & Chocolate Fudge Cake I have ever tasted. Service was great. This was the only place where me & my friend said we had to go back to. Well done all the crew at Castaways.

Sanjay P  (25 October 2003)

I TOOK MY FAMILY HERE AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. THEY DONT KNOW ABOUT SERVICE OR WHAT GOOD FOOD IS. WHATS THE POINT IN HAVING A BIG CHOICE OF FOOD, PEOPLE WOULD PREFER LESS CHOICE AND BETTER QUALITY. A MESSAGE TO SEAN HEMMINGS, OR WHOEVER HE IS TO TRY AND HELP ANSWER HIS QUESTION ABOUT CASTAWAYS HAVING TWO OUT OF TEN WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY POSITIVE COMMENTS; THE PEOPLE WHO RUN THIS SITE AREN'T STUPID AND HAVE PROBABLY REALISED CASTAWAYS STAFF AND MANAGEMENT ARE POSTING ALL THE POSITIVE COMMENTS. I WORK IN COMPUTERS AND WHEN YOU ARE LOGGING ON AS DIFFERENT NAMES THEY CAN STILL SEE WHAT IS CALLED YOUR IP ADDRESS, A NUMBER THAT DIFFERENTIATES YOUR COMPUTER FROM ALL THE OTHER COMPUTERS OUT THERE. WHILST YOU MAY BE CHANGING YOUR USERNAME ON YOUR PC, THEY CAN SEE IT IS COMING FROM THE SAME MACHINE EVERYTIME AND OBVIOUSLY DONT WANT PEOPLE TO BE FOOLED INTO BELIEVING CASTAWAYS IS SOMETHING ITS NOT.

David A  (20 October 2003)

I'm not really sure why this has got a rating of 2/10 when 99% of the comments are "excellent".
We were in Argassi in May & October and ate in here on numerous occasions. The food was always excellent and the service was brilliant. Hi to Kirsty and to the girls from Inverness. Hope to see you in May.

Peter W  (19 October 2003)

Excellent food. The BEST Sunday Roast in Argassi !!!!!!

Andrea   (14 October 2003)

Very good food and service - Prices are reasonable.

Would definately recommend this place.

Leanne F  (13 October 2003)

Only went here because we were told it was owned by same guy as Ilision. Not a patch on Ilision and anyway it's the Ilision owners father who owns castaways. Food was Ok but the staff were well slack, the tall blonde girl was lovely and was compensating for all the lazy dosile staff. Food was a little slow but that was maybe down to the powercut we had whilst in there, must admit this was the only place we ever felt like walking out of before ordering. Greek staff there were friendly though.

Donna N (11 October 2003)

Elizabeth B  (09 October 2003)

this is my second time in this resort and feel by far castaways is the best for food, service, great for kids. i visted this place on 28/9/03 and it was far the busiest night, the sunday roast was better than you would get at home, the staff were rushed off the feet but still smiling even stu helped out. if visting this resort make sure you visithere. special hello to kirsty and stu hope to see you next year, debbie, greg and emma.

Andrew C  (08 October 2003)

Steven R  (28 September 2003)

I realy enjoyed this restaurant although i did feel like a can of baked beans, a little SQUASHED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway back to the food my wife had the sausage and mash it looked yummy!!!!!I had the primavera it was also tip top.

Helen J  (25 September 2003)

Unfortunately we only discovered Castaways on our last night of our holiday, the best meal we had, Minted lamb to die for, staff were all very friendly and hi to Stuart who managed to get us up the stairs.

John M  (25 September 2003)

We ate at Castaways on our first night and thought the food and restaurant was first class, we tried other restaurants on our stay but this restaurant was definitely the best in Argassi.

Tony W  (21 September 2003)

MY WIFE KAY AND MYSELF ENJOYED OUR MEALS AT CASTAWAYS AND THOUGHT THET THE SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD .I WOULD LIKE TO MENTION ELEANOR IN PARTICULAR AS SHE WAS VERY HELPFUULL.

TONY AND KAY WRINKLEY

Alec M  (21 September 2003)

we ate there four nights during our week in argassi and the food and service was excellent every time loved the mixed grill and minted lamb with mustard mash ,great sweets and really friendly staff especially audrey and kirstin we will be back next year

Leanne J  (19 September 2003)

If you are looking for a restaurant where everything is 'served with chips' this is for you! Meal not very apetising. Tables too far together - felt like I was sat with the couple on the next table. Quite expensive too - not value for money. One to stay away from, in my opinion!

Donna P  (18 September 2003)

WOW!!! If you want superb food, service and atmosphere then dont give this place a miss. I have never tasted such excellent food. The Pastachata (think thats how you spell it!) was to die for. The garlic bread supreme was scrumptious and the Fillet Steak melted like butter in your mouth. The service was impeccable and the loo's immaculate. Cant believe that people have written anything bad about the place because we could find no fault whatsoever. Dont give this place a miss you will regret it!!!!!!! and I bet you go back every evening afterwards, we did!!

The M  (15 September 2003)

If you are approached for this one - 'just walk on by!!!'
The Airtours reps must be on good commission to recommend this restaurant!!
The food was average, at best, and not that warm when served. The firecracker (hot) wrap claims to be made with 'jalepenos' but in reality it's the standard gunge just coated with chilli powder.
They claim a 10/10 recommendation from justzante.co.uk website and lure unsuspecting punters into their lair.
Take my advice.....go to the real 10/10 recommendations where you will get a good meal like Edem, a little off the beaten track but well worth the walk. (SEP 03).

Ami   (12 September 2003)

We are the Airtours reps in Argassi and we eat at Castaways on a regular basis.
Superb food, superb service and an even better PR! hey Stu.....!!!

Dont listen to all the negative vibes, you only have to wait at least 15 minutes maximum for your food, hardly a massive wait especailly when it's so busy, almost full every night.

Keep up the good work guys. Big up to Sarah and Co.

Graham and Ami xxxx

Adam W  (07 September 2003)

i have never eaten at such a fantastic restuarant the food was fab the prices great its a must do on your holiday the staff are so helpful they really make you welcome love ya guys

Catherine R  (02 September 2003)

We enjoyed the atmosphere at this roof top restaurant. Very reasonably priced with a great selection on the menu. Wow ! Tikka masala was great !!

Charlotte O  (02 September 2003)

I have just returned from Argassi and I am very surprised about some of the comments written by people about Castaways. I ate there every night for my second week and all the food was thoroughly enjoyable, the staff were fantastic, friendly and efficient. The food was at the highest standard. The view is lovely too. I cannot fault it in any way, if you are visiting Argassi you must visit Castaways, it's got something for everyone.

Lauren, K  (26 August 2003)

THE FOOD AT THIS RESTAURANT WAS WELL BELOW POOR AND WE WAITED FOR OVER AN HOUR JUST TO RECIEVE OUR ORDER.
THE YOUNG LAD AT THE THE DOOR INSISTED THAT IT WAS THE BEST RESTAURANT IN ARGASSI AND THAT IT WAS THE ONLY ONE ON THE WEB SITE THAT HAD BEEN VOTED 10 OUT OF 10 WHICH WAS LIES!!!!!

Holly J  (26 August 2003)

Has to be said I weren't impressed with the pink chicken, the service was slow but Stuart was mighty fine!! Did enjoy going swimming with him, rather nice body ladies!!

If it weren't for Stuarts charm i wouldn't have gone back the second time, it was average but i recommend the Green Frog restaurant!!

Chris & Ros  (25 August 2003)

Excellent restaurant.Food staff and service all A1.Can't understand the negative comment's? My wife an i ate here about five times and thouroghly enjoyed each time.

Grant P  (22 August 2003)

Myself and my partner ate at castaways atleast 7 times in our two stay and the food we had on every occation was to a very high standard we could not fault it.I would give it 10 out of 10 every time and the guy who owns did not stop once kepping his eye on all going on it was great.Staff goog foof great and the company I was in could not have been better..And fair play to the guy outside who gets the punters in he was a good lad too. No complaints 100% keep up the good work and I hope I can return next year..

Sarah S  (20 August 2003)

i thought castaways was excellent me and my friend went there on the 1st night (because of stuart) and went there everyday of the holiday after. hi to stuart.

Ray I  (17 August 2003)

Me and my family visited Castaways several times and found the food and service great each time. Great choice and entertainment for the kids.

Jens M  (13 August 2003)

We all had our minds set up for a perfect evening and Castaways sure looked like a perfect spot for a nice meal on the roof.

To my big disapointment service was lacking.. When we got to order and we ordered a large bottle of water, we got one that was already opened and poured from. Food was Average but because of the lack of service we didn't really enjoyed it.

Mellisa H  (13 August 2003)

has anyone got stuarts number by any chance

Emma M  (10 August 2003)

Went here on the last nite of holiday, found the location lovely, up on the roof. Food wasnt fantastic but wasnt awful. The service was ok, the atmosphere was the best thing for me.

Ian H  (07 August 2003)

Me and my girlfriend ate here 3 times. Kleftico was yummy my girlfriend enjoyed the english grub. I found all the staff very polite and friendly and it was one of the best restaurants we found. Extra thanks to Sarah who was especially friendly and also stuart who made us laugh, hes the man. Hazel and Ian

Steven H  (05 August 2003)

Ate there with my girlfriend three times, great restaurant enjoyed the pate starter, hi to Stuart the PR and hello to anyone else I met there.

Kay C  (04 August 2003)

Really enjoyed our meal at Castaways, had a large varied menu to choose from and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Steven M  (04 August 2003)

My family and i ate at Castaways on more than one occassion and were never dissappointed. Food was excellent every time and all the staff friendly and helpful. Great value for money!

James S  (31 July 2003)

We are all entitled to our own opinion but I think it was terrible. The service was very bad. I had the steak, which was fatty and dry. My wife had a pizza, also below par. I wouldn't have thought you could stuff up Pizza but they did.

Katie   (31 July 2003)

food was ok, not too keen on the old curry though! cheap prices and sometimes free wine.

Watch out for those wasps though!!!

Dave R  (29 July 2003)

I ATE HERE 5 TIMES IN MY 14 DAY HOLIDAY WHY EVERYONE SLATES IT I DONT KNOW ALL THE WORKERS GO THERE FOR THERE TEA. A NUST TRY ITS NOT TO BE MISSED HI TO ALL THE GUYS DAVEXX

Hans&janneke   (29 July 2003)

First of all.Negative reactions below are complete noncence! Those people were probabeley the ones who tried to get a free meal by complaining. We were there at the moment.
Me and my girfriend broke the alltime record of 11 visits with 13, and I think that says enough. We food was the best in town and the staff treated us like friends.
If you don't know this restaurant we can really recommend it!!

Adrian B  (27 July 2003)

Bl**dy Top Tucker!!! The staff were all lovely and quick to serve especially Sara.

Recomend the Minted Lamb....but everything is quality.

Stu W  (27 July 2003)

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.

Joe S  (27 July 2003)

i just wanted to log on to say don't bother with this restaurant. its a waste of money and your holiday. food and service are w**k. if you look at the two comments below that contradict eachother you will realise that the only people who must be making up positive feedback about castways, are castaways themselves. quite amusing really!! pity they're not just a bit more intelligent!

Jo H  (27 July 2003)

me and my 2 friends ate here one night and it was really nice, just want to say the guy outside (stu) plays hard to get-but is a cool guy (hey coconut its jo-rememba me?)hehehehe!
loadsa luv jo!

Trevor H  (24 July 2003)

Myself and my husband ate there on our first night and many times after. We were on our honeymoon and the staff made it really special for us, it had a romantic atmosphere we had special treatment, I feel, we were given a table outside on the terrace with a sea view. We thank the staff so much, it was a holiday we will never forgat all thanks to you. See you again next year.

Trevor H  (24 July 2003)

We ate there the last 2 nights of our holiday and only wish we would have eaten there sooner. The food was excellent & the staff made us feel really welcome.

Tony H  (23 July 2003)

Tony Whibley

Chris   (22 July 2003)

Well what can I say about Castaway's. I've been out here working and eaten there at least 5 time a week. Never had a bad word to say about the place. The staff are very friendly and helpfull, the food is allways good.. and vaule for money. I will still continue to eat there untill I leave the island. If you don't try Castaway's your the one missing out.

DJ from the Factory.. Chris James.

Vikki   (20 July 2003)

i have been working in argassi for the last 3 months and eat here at least 4 times a week. the staff are great, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect. the staff really do work so hard and i can promise you that they are all very friendly. if you want a top class meal visit this place . . . also the best bar is kiss bar i have to say that as i am the pr there . . to all the guys at castaways i love you all xx

Sarah   (19 July 2003)

Went to this retsurant 3 times while on holiday and loved it. Food was gorgeous, especially Banana Beach desert, Thai curry, Saucy Salmon, Mozzarella burger and the Garlic bread supreme was amazing!Everything else sounded great too. The only problem was the watitresses, very frienly to the customers but they didn't appear to get on with each other!

Liz   (19 July 2003)

Can't say I would go back to Castaways. They try to push the fact of them being British as a positive but they cannot match the warm hospitality of the greeks.

Food was not up to much. It looked nice but didn't taste good at all. Ignore them when they say they serve the best roast on the island - The best roast is served down the road at The Green Frog...not to be missed.

Emma S  (18 July 2003)

Went here for my 21st Birthday. Meal was soooooooo small. Good presentation but I would prefer more food on the plate. Service varied, some of the staff were fantastic - some absolutely terrible.

Try the Green Frog for a proper meal......
or Stars.

Anne   (18 July 2003)

Could anyone let me know the phone number of this restaurant? Need to get intouch about this Summer. Bussiness prop.!

i'll be calling from the uk.

Thanks Anne.

Samantha   (17 July 2003)

Service crappy. Food very average. My drink was served in a dirty glass. Oh well you win some you lose some.

Gemma   (17 July 2003)

Hiya Stu! You not talking anymore? Get in touch.

Love Gemma.

Donna J  (12 July 2003)

Me and my boyfriend went to Castaways and I think that because we are young wse were not treated the same as the other people dining there. The waitress seemed as though she had a problem serving us but she was quite friendly to the table next to us. I think that our money should be as good as the next persons but obviously the waitress did not share this opionion. This same waitress came down to our beach to hand out leaflets and did not bother to hand one to me or my partner. I don't think the management would be pleased to hear this. Why have such a poor attitude towards people you do not know? If the food was excellent as advertised then I would not feel so bad about my experience but I found the food to match the waitresses service. Obviously we cannot all agree and I am glad to hear that many people are very satisfied with Castaways but please do not think I am just being bitter. I give credit where credit is due but believe me credit was not due to Castaways.
