well what can i say.........its obvious to me that all the comments about the Scottish waitress are from our "ignorant english cousins???"
We ate in Castaway and never once had any issues with the "Scottish" waitress (in fact we found her service and manner first class) or any of the other staff and the food was also first class.

May I tak this opportunity to thank all our guests for their comments on their experiences in our restaurant good or bad. We take all information received as consructive citiscism, however should any guests have a grievance please do give us the opportunity to rectify the situation. Myself as the Manager & Peter the Proprietor are always available. We at Castaway's truly beleive that excellent customer service is paramount to providing our guests with a great holiday, memory & we always strive to achieve this. A quick message to Ian Thompsett - May I point out that my review was an honest opinion of our meal, not 'Hate Mail'. Whether the Scottish Waitress is your friend or not, she gave poor service and ruined our meal. With regards to others' reviews posted on this site I have not conspired with anybody but am glad to hear I am not alone in my bad experience. In terms of being able to do her job - I did do this job in a top London restaurant for 5 years...with a smile!!!

We went here a couple of times, but the food is no way excellent. There is a very wide selection of food on the menu but the food is just average-we had much nicer meals elsewhere.

Please do not go to this resturaunt the fahitas are horrible and cold.

Went to Castaway with my husband during our recent stay in Argassi for our 25th anniversary and to be honest the service we experienced was very good, and the restaurant very nice indeed. I had the pizza which was quite nice, although nowhere near as tasty as the one from Big Boys at a fraction of the cost, and my husband had the Lamb with Mustard Mash. He said the Mash was beautiful but the cut of meat not a particularly high standard.

Having read the other comments posted on here could I raise some questions though please.... Three people have seemingly given their opinion on the food and service they have received at Castwaway, and the DJ from the local bar who admits to be 'true' friends with these people is not surprisingly, defending them in a biased fashion. In my opinion he has more reason to lie than the three other holidaymakers, though during our evening we do not recall anyone of the waitresses description serving us.

6/10 - Try it for yourself, or if you want to be a guranteed great food and atmosphere try Stars - it will NOT disappoint!

if you really take any notice of the horrible hate mail put on here regarding the the waitress at castaway, and dont go in then you will truley miss out on a great night's food, high quality service from ALL the staff and a great atmosphere (created by the staff) obviously, the 3 brainless people who were out to proffesionlly complain and have conspired together to victimise one of my true friends really need to get a life sort it out then just ask them self, could you do her job.......i dont think so! WE REALLY HATED OUR MEAL AND THE SERVICE AT CASTAWAY. In a word. Crap. The actual setting is rather nice; on a rooftop with a view of the sea, a light breeze blowing onto you in the mild heat, and very pretty surroundings. The restaurant is smart and the prices seem quite good too... So far so good, eh? No. The service we received from the Blonde Freckled Scot was also really terrible, I am glad to hear we are not the only ones as we were taking it personally!! I wonder if she started there recently as I am surprised that A) she still has a job and B) The posting on this site mentioning her are only from the last couple of days. It really ruined it for us. She did ask in all the right places 'What do you want', 'Anything else?', and 'Is that IT?' when taking our order. I was actually scared to ask for anything else as each time I added something to the order she snarled at having to write it down on paper. Whilst we were eating the meal she came over and asked 'Is it okay?' and only out of politeness I replied, 'Lovely Thank You' at which point her bitter face turned to an even bigger sulk, as if she was hoping we were hating it, and our night out in general. She is the poison of Zante, and I wish she had been CASTAWAY somewhere that we had never had to meet her. Why, oh why could we not have been served the girl who attended to the table next to us? Common manners is all it would have taken. Instead we just settled for Common. We still left a tip in fear she may attack us, lets hope they just leash her up before she bites somebody - and lets hope that it isn't what it takes before they realise she needs putting down, for the sake of the restaurant. Food was just okay, but not worth the risk!!

I agree with you Tracy, me and my wife just got back from Argassi and after having received brilliant service from all of the restaurants we dined in, our meal at Castaways was a real disaster... All thanks to a blonde skinny waitress with freckles who 'served?' us for the better part of our meal, grunting and pulling faces at us like a loggerhead turtle with a sore foot. I mean you don't expect the world and people to enjoy their jobs all of the time but she made it clear that she did not enjoy serving us. We remained polite throughout the meal and gave her no reason to act in this fashion towards us. Our meal at castaways was a memorable night. But for all the wrong reasons... It is a shame because all of the other staff serving around us, and also ourselves at some point could not be any more friendly and helpful. They should get rid of her, before she gets rid of all their customers!!!

The first night we went here the meal was great. However we went back. Big mistake, there was a scotish waitress, blonde with freckles....she was so rude and ignorant towards us. She did not offer us drinks and basically grunted sarcastically at us. The rest of the staff were really friendly. I cannot understand why she was so rude to us. Dont bother with the 8oz Steak as 4oz of it was fat. With respect the lamb steak and mustard mash on the first night was fantastic.

Enjoyed the food, great selection and was well priced especially having a family of four. Good play area which kept the children occupied. All round good restaurant. See you all next year, we will definitely be back.

Hello to all the staff. We ate here most nights out of the 2 weeks we were in Argasi. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday apart from abigail hurting her foot in the pool, thanks for looking after her Sarah, both the kids send there love. Your PR is great, we will definately be back next year.

we ate there 4 times in 1 week it was great but it was all thanks to sexy stuart for gettin us in see you next year!!!!!!!!

Went here first night on holiday, it was ok, then went again a few nights later, and waited 2 hours for our meal which was not a very good meal afterall, not very helpful when you have 6 kids starving hungry.

Worst meal all fortnight.... food was poor and the restaurant floor was crawling with ants and spiders.... nowhere else we visited had this problem. Horrible!!

this place surprised me, we knew it was owned by locals but staffed by
brits and the main reason we went there was because the kids wanted to eat out on the roof terrace.i was sceptical,but i have to say the food was as good as any we ate in the 2 weeks we were there.potato salad and pate for starters, lamb and seafood souvlaki main course,all were excellent. the downside is that although the staff were friendly they were crap at their jobs, messed up both the kids meals.

is that better mike. the boss making sure we do it corrctly trust you to balls it up as well why am i not surprised you were drunk mate

Have been visiting argassi for 2 years now and Castaways is always top of our list for restaurants. Would highly recommend you visit here, great staff, excellent food with generous portions. More than man size!

Unfortunately we tried it only on our last day what a big mistake it was the best meal we had all holiday we would definately say it was the best value for money aswell as great tasting.

If you want a restaurant where everybody watches one of about 10 tv's while being served by english waitresses who keep forgeting what you ask them for. My wife ordered the Castaway chicken which on the menu says that you get breast of chicken on a generous bed of vegetables with a pesto sauce. We paid 8 Euro 95, to get a couple pieces of chicken breast in the middle of the plate on a salsa sauce..... Hardly worth it and after complaining, they told us sorry, its what we ordered.. If you want to have a conversation over your meal, then this is not the place as everybody watches the film on tv..

We went for two meals at this place it was top dollar!! I had the steak,which was gorgeous!! My other half had the maules menuir,said they were lovely. Staff were great,bit hectic as it was their first night of the season.

Cant say we enjoyed castaways, we went twice and both times the food wasnt up to standard, i had steak and Guiness pie, i couldnt find any steak only lumps of fat, my girlfriend had a pasta dish it seemed more like pasta soup,wont be going again this year plenty of far better places to visit.

Enjoyable meal and surroundings. Service was good, quite attentive and the price was reasonable. Because it is above a building on a slight slope, you get a slight breezefrom the sea which makes you all the more comfortable while you eat,(or yes & drink)

We liked Castaways, they were very friendly and made a good variety of food, the Greek food was nice from the sister restaurant Illusion and the mexican I had was fantastic.

The food was excellent - had a steak and it was cooked to perfection. Waitresses seemed to be rushed off their feet but they were still pleasant and helpful.

Good food, good service, the Greek entertainment was a bit of a let down..they didn't turn up.The meals were very tasty and filling.Loads of extra's...salad, fruit, ouzo.Waiters tired but pleasant.

Try the Seafood special to share, it is excellant! The Saganaki in the greek starter selection is the best I had anywhere. We eat there on a Greek Night so I don't know if that slowed down the service and caused the waitress to mix the tables up when it came to the bill.

WE WENT TO CASTAWAYS TWICE AND HAD EXCELLENT MEALS BOTH TIMES. WOULD RECOMMEND THE PASTA PRIMAVERA WHICH WAS PASTA WITH CREAMY PESTO SAUCE AND CHARGRILLED CHICKEN IT WAS DELICIOUS. Decided to try this as read about it here. Had beef and peppers in chilli sauce - very nice. Rather slow service, but then isn't everywhere slow in Greece.

Tried this one twice. First time ok but second visit disapointing. Caution - If more than one of you orders a meal which includes plate of fries and rice they try and pass off one portion as being for two!!! Standard of service indifferent.

Went twice, have no idea why i went at all, first time got a rotten burger!!! second time got a rotten beef(fat) & Guiness pie, with hard pastry and cold veg, girlfriend got ok Chickrn first time then got pasta and sauce(soup) rotten dont bother climbing the stairs.

The food here was so good that we ate there every night and to add to the food for all you girls the staff are gorgeous! that not really why we went in every night it really is excellent and reasonably priced. See you next year. xx

CRAP! COLD MEALS!

Food here was excellent. The menu was extensive and really reasonable. View from the top of the shop was good. Only bad point is, don't sit in the corner by the stairs as you will get deafened by the music!!!!

WE absolutley loved this restaurant! The food was great, there was a fantastic range of alcohoal which was just great and cheap 2!!!! ( be coming bk next year) The cute guy stu did make it worth while he was gorgoues, a natural if only greece was closer roll on the hoildays. Keep up the good work guys its worth it we love it, the food the drinks and u. (especially stu!!!!!!)

This place got the best view when you sit outside in the left corner...... Not just because of the beautiful hills or the beachview... but the cute guy STUART made it more than worth to sit and injoy the meal.... (he worked there) God he is something... Great views of the hills from the roof top tables. Wine was really well priced and the choice of food was large. Tried a traditional greek starter which was different. Overall very pleasant and good service.

We were in Castaways six nights out of seven. The food was fantastic and the waitresses were the best. My husband tipped them well, and usually he doesn't tip. The Head Chef Justin was very polite and came out front to see if we had enjoyed our meal. Would highly recommend it. Hello Rachel and Peter. see you in September. Byeeee

We were here in May and Panayotis has excelled himself, new roof for the rare windy night and a new menu. The chilli con carne was so good the first night I went back again twice. Went to this restaurant on our last night -enjoyed the food - would have gone back - Don't go on a breezy day (rooftop restaurant)- Childrens play area isn't upto much.

A 'must-see' on your places to eat list as the food is excellent - definitely try the Beef in Guiness Pie. Service was a tad slow when we visited but Joanne and the girls were rushed off their feet - the price of popularity! Open air theme gives the place a different feel as well. But be careful here - WATCH OUT FOR THE FREE BRANDY AT THE END OF YOUR MEAL!

I think the restaurant, where my friends and I eat a lot is Castaways, but I'm not sure about that. Are there tv's in the walls, and is the light in the toilet a light that automaticaly turns on when you get inside? Maybe somebody know if Brendan, he was from the bar, and Markus and Neill, they were from the kitchen, worked over here. Please let me know, you help me a lot.

liked the location..nice and cool, waitresses very pleasant but overworked, ordered food and waited an hour and 15 minutes for the food to arrive..the food was excellent but an hour and 15 mins ..please.. we didnt go back.

We went to Argassi for the 5th year running in June and this was a new place. We hated it, it took them nearly 30 minutes to even offer us a menu, when we asked for a drink we where told we would have to wait for a waitress who only does drinks to come to us. The food was flat cold, awfull, and the only friendly person in the whole place was the lass who stands outside. The reason for all this was explained to us - "we are very busy" - there was only 6 people in the place and myself and my partner where 2 of them. We will be going to Argassi again next year as we always do but will not be going here if it is still open.

This is a fairly new restaurant & appears to be having some teething troubles. Service not particularly good & although menu was most cosmipolitan we came across (English, Mexican,Chinese,Greek,Italian, etc) the food didn't live up to expectations. Probably one of the most trendy in resort also with roof-top location & chrome furniture (ala Habitat). The owner, Pedros, also owns 2 other restaurants close by (Ilision & Elena)- which we thought were more traditional & far better. I'm sure Pedros will make Castaways equally successful with time.

Just got back from gorgeous Zakynthos,couldn't get enough of Castaways, Ilision and Elena restaurants that are all owned by the same man. (So if you enjoy one-you are bound to enjoy the others! Even though they all differ in style and layout) The staff are excellent, the best we have come across; so friendly a special hi to all of them especially Jo who made sure our visits were always enjoyable. The portion sizes are massive so you may need to starve all day to beable to cope however all the food is great! A must is the lemon sorbae which is divine. Prices are competative but trust me when I say that we ate out all 14 nights we were in Argassi and tried many yet we kept coming back to Castaways which is far better than the rest.

Good place to eat. Food was good, both English and Greek, well priced and plenty of it. They have friendly staff and it was good to sit in the open air in comfort. We even got free shots after the meal!

Another massive hit for the Grammateus. This restaurant is brilliant, the staff are really nice. Hi Emma Hi Kim. I take my hat off to you and now that the menu has been expanded, I'm sure that you will grow from strength to strength. I hope the new restaurant "Elena" is as much of a success. I'm not sure that Brian went to the same restaurant as we did. The staff could not do enough for us and the food to a very high standard. The kids were looked after by Kate in the play area and the three times we ate there were the most relaxing meals we had on our holiday

1. The English waitress did not know if the mousaka was served in an individual dish or cut from a slab. She explained that mousaka was like lasagne ! 2. We had to wait 15 minutes before our drinks were served. 3. We had to wait 30 minutes before our starters were served, one of which did not come. 4. We had to wait almost 1 hour before our main courses were served. The explanation given for the delay was that they were extremely busy. The restaurant was less that half full at the time. 5. The kleftiko which came was basically a lamb chop, the majority of which was bone and grisle and inedible. When we complained the explanation given was that this was how it was served at this restaurant. We had eaten kleftiko at many other restaurants, to be served with tender, mouthwatering pieces of lamb wrapped in foil. The couple at the adjacent table had ordered their meal just before us but only one meal was served ! After waiting some time this was sent back to be reheated until the other meal was ready. It is doubtful they too were impressed with the service. Our advice is don't go !!

Castaways is one of the best places I have eaten in. We went 12th June with 5 kids and 4 adults. The kids had a children's corner- with Katie entertaining them, we had some relaxing meals -which tasted superb into the bargain. Definately a must, I think we ate there at least 11 out of 14 nights. Hard to find as it is a rooftop restaurant with a supermarket downstairs Its next to the Factory Club where the two clowns are stood outside. It is the most proffecionally presented food in Argassi and very tasty the waitresses are very freindly

Well what can I say, this place is just the best. The service is great all very professional. Brillant food at great prices. If you don't visit here, then its your loss! Highly reccommended! All the best Castaways! Steve 'n' Carol

i can only say one thing about castaways. "OH, MY GOD!!" it's the poseest place i'v ever eaten in my life!but the staff were friendly, the place was very clean and organised but the resteraunt is on top of the dolphin supermarket and gets a lot of power cuts but the place is totally top!! best place to eat

Good seafood restaraunt, kids love it - they have films on at 7pm every night for them. very friendly and big portions compared to every where else.
