Zakfari Jeep Safari

Zante Excursions

Nigel L  (07 July 2004)

WE WENT ON ZAKFARI ON THE 30 JUNE 2004, THIS WAS THE DAY THE FIVE 'STAG' LADS WERE RESCUED AT THE SULPHUR SWIM STOP.
WHAT A GREAT DAY WE HAD, WE ARE STILL TRYING TO WORK OUT WHICH OF THE STORIES PAUL TOLD WERE TRUE!
THE VIEWS WE SAW WERE STUPENDOUS, AND OUR DRIVER MALCOLM SHOULD BE A RALLY DRIVER. THE OFF ROAD DRIVING WAS UNBELIEVABLE.
WE RECOMMEND THIS TRIP TO ANYONE WHO IS PREPARED TO BE DIRT BLASTED THROWN ABOUT AND ENTERTAINED, SIT OVER THE BACK AXLE TO EXPERIENCE THE FULL THRILL OF ZAKFARI.

Kelly J  (07 July 2004)

WHAT CAN I SAY. THIS TRIP WAS THE HIGH LIGHT OF OUR HOLIDAY. WE HAD A FANTASTIC TIME AND ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT IT NOW. WE WENT ON STRAWBERRY DAY, LEE WAS OUR DRIVER, WE WERE THE HONEYMOONERS!!
THIS TRIP HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST WAY TO SEE THE ISLAND, YOU GET TO SEE ALL THE BEST PLACES AND HEAR SOME AMAZING STORIES!!
THANKS LADS, YOU DID A FANTASTIC JOB, WE HAVE RECOMMENED YOU TO FEW FRIENDS WHO ARE COMING OUT THIS SUMMER. YOU WERE BRILLIANT.

Jennifer J  (05 July 2004)

Lee - I want my money back - I didn't see any blue giraffes!!!!! Joking apart, this was the best trip we did over our 2 week stay. It was Friday 25th June 2004 - your first day as Guide - you did brilliantly. We learnt more about Zante in this one day - than over the rest of the two weeks. I would recommend this 'Safari' to anyone, even if they don't do any other trips. Good Luck for the Future. R & J Jones (WIRRAL) even if you didn't know where that was!!!

Sarah H  (04 July 2004)

This was the best part of our weeks stay in Zante. Lee was our driver for the day and he certainly made it a day to remember! We visited some fantastic places and saw some amazing sites,(ship wreck was unbelievable). The local knowledege from Paul was great if a little made up at times! This trip was well worth the money, but be prepared to get dirty! If you only do one thing on your holiday make sure its this. Sarah and Emma, Essex.

Shirley E  (04 July 2004)

A great tour, not to be missed! Well worth the money to see some great sights and hear some great stories whether they were true or not!
Thanks to Malcolm, Spiros and Lee for a brilliant day - Golden Girls Day!
Sensible shoes, a hat, but nobody advised wearing a sports bra! Big girls be warned!!

Jo J  (29 June 2004)

Probably the best bit of our holiday! - We went on Zakfari on Monday 21st June 2004 - the day Lee's jeep pretty much died! - My boyfriend and I got on teh wrong jeep to start with, and we all decided to keep our seats, unfortunately the jeep we should have been on was on its last legs, well not unfortunately for us!!!

This was a really good trip, although quite expensive I never regretted spending a euro on it! - You see sights that you wouldnt know even if you drove past them!

Devils throat has to be one of the best parts of the day!

A very enjoyable day, thanks Saria - Love Scott & Jo

Jackie B  (27 June 2004)

Lee was our guide and he was great fun. Me, my aunt uncle and sister were on the 'noo-noo map day'. They called my sister noo-noo and her famous it was funny. I'm glad I went and it was really worth it. We saw some really things and told some really stupid things. I think that anyone who gets the chance should go 'cause its really great. Thanks for such a cool day. Evie Goodliffe ( noo-noo's sister)

Jackie B  (27 June 2004)

It was an excellent day trip out, and we saw some sites that you may not of had the chance to see on most other excursions.I'm glad I took the chance to go on this trip and if I didn't I probably would have regreted after hearing all the great things about it from my aunt. It was totally worth getting up early so I would be on time. I would totally recommend it to anyone who wants to see the island and people who want get away from their hotel. Definitely great fun for all the family. Laura Goodliffe (a.k.a. Noo-noo)

Alex D  (25 June 2004)

We were on the Slow Lee Day! Many thanks to Malcolm for a great day and
Saria for her invaluable knowledge of the island. Highly recommend this
excursion for all. Some magnificent views of the island that you would not
otherwise see. Thanks to all at Zakfari!

Billy A  (18 June 2004)

If you dont do anything else on the island go with Zakfari. The guides are excellent Paul,Lee and Spyros were great....the patter was non stop. It is the best way to see Zante and have fun as well. A message for Paul the wreck was built in Bowling on the Clyde originally called the St.Bedan.(The only Scot on the non view day).

Mandy D  (16 June 2004)

our day was the day with no name friday the 11 we were with the smiths Ha Ha Adrian and Aide

Mandy D  (16 June 2004)

What a great day we had Paul was really funny and a great guide good value for money and a great experience. Thanks for a great day out

Adrianne R  (14 June 2004)

Friday the 11th June was the day we went on our Jeep Safari! An absolutely amazing day out! Paul was brilliant! Really good fun and got everyone into the spirit of things and told the most amusing (and of course 'factual') stories! We thoroughly enjoyed it, you cannot go to the island without doing this trip!!!! Good luck with the wedding and the ski shop job Rimmer I mean Paul. Best wishes from Adrianne Ianthe Stephanie (not SMITH!! its Reeman!!! ha ha) and Adi.x

Catriona D  (14 June 2004)

BIG PHIL'S PIPPA
Everyone has to book the zakfari trip, it is amazing and v.funny. Pauls and the drivers are brilliant. You HAVE to go!!!!

Mark B  (11 June 2004)

The whole package is very good. Paul is a splendid tour guide. The Land Rovers are excellent bits of kit and you get to go to places I certainly wouldn't have found myself otherwise.

Pippa C  (10 June 2004)

we really enjoyed this trip it was very interesting and informative and also life changing as we got engaged!!! paul and lee are both funny guys who also helped to make our day special. the views were breath taking, especially where i was proposed to! thanx to phil for congratulating us again, hope u do well in exams!

Big Phil and Pippa xxx

Gemma S  (09 June 2004)

Hi
Want to say a big thanks to Paul and Lee, best day of our holiday..informative funny and we really got to see the island.
We loved the Sulpher caves and beauty treatment that scrubeed off our fake tans (shhh).
To recall us Paul mentioned our group shoul be called something to do with football, I cant remeber, however, big thanks from Geordie Gemma (red hair naff at skimming stones) and Neil from Yorkshire (good at skimming stones!).
Cheers

Deborah G  (09 June 2004)

John and I had the most wonderful day. Probably the best day during our week. paul was an excellent guide. Still not quite sure which stories were true!!! We will certainley do the trip again when we return, hopefully in the near future. Not tried the mountain tea yet but looking forward to a "tea party". We wish Paul and his future bride every happiness back in the UK. Deb and John. Muppet Wednesday. 26th May 2004

Phil S  (06 June 2004)

When u arrive in Zante, the first thing u should do is to book a trip with Zakfari. The guides Lee, Spiros and especially Paul make this trip great fun.Well done to Phil and Pippa, hope everything goes really well for u!You could spend the whole day listening to Paul and you wouldnt get bored, but the stop-offs are excellent with some amazing views(good choice of location Phil!) although youll need a shower after swimming in the sulphur sea! Thanks again,
Phil

Leanda V  (05 June 2004)

Well who would have thought that you would see ET in Zante but I did ! Wish I had been there last july to taste the funny water from the 12 or was it 13 or maybe 14 wells. Had a really great day thanks to Lee our driver and Paul the guide, I really recommend it, thanks guys for a great day.
Leanda & Nikki FA Cup Final Day

Judy W  (05 June 2004)

This was excellent!!! The best bit of the holiday apart from all the funny bugs in the jeep!!! Spriros Lee and Comedy man Paul are superb
entertainment the whole day is full of surprizes!!If u only do one thing on your hol do Zakfari!!!When Paul leaves i hope they find a good replacement he is unique!!!Sun May 23rd Thanks to Spiros our driver whom we kept bumping into after the trek!!Chris Judy Gemma and
Tasha x

Adrian A  (01 June 2004)

A big thank you to Lee our driver . What a great way to start our holiday, This is a definite must if you want to see the island from a different angle. Lee was an excellent tour guide giving informative tales (true or false?) didn't matter either way. Hi to the silly hat gang. By the way I agree with your wine chap, "it's the best".
Also a big thanks to Paul and Spiros.

Yaso from Adrian & Margaret.

Gwyn E  (31 May 2004)

Excellent day out, Paul, Lee and Spiros were very good and entertaining. Much research has gone in to the presentation of their tour, stories, anecdotes and information they pass on during the day. The sea sulphur caves were particularly good and I doubt if anybody would a) know they were there and b) even less likely to go into them without the confidence that Lee gave us by actually being there, also the beauty treatment was interesting!!! FA Cup Final Day

Leigh A  (29 May 2004)

Fantastic day out! Fun way to visit some great locations and see fab views all over the island, particularly from the off road stops. Paul's historical facts keep you entertained throughout the day but are they true?!!
Had a great time despite the morning rain, BIG thanks to Lee for his excellent 'eyes off the road' driving skills and the choccy biscuits!
Silly hat day thanks to our jeep, keep wearing yours Lee - we've got a nice photo for the web site to prove it!

Doug   (25 May 2004)

It was great, definitely the best day out we had all week! Anyone going to Zante that want a great day out should defnitely go with Zakfari. Best wishes to the guys for a great day out. Team Strawberry :-)

Iain P  (24 May 2004)

Exciting and interesting. Paul has his well practiced patter that is enjoyable and some of the stories may even be true. FA cup day.

Laura P  (23 May 2004)

This is by far the best way to view pretty much the whole of Zakynthos in just one day (although don't follow my boyfriends example and try to do it with a hangover, not a pretty picture when you hit the off-road sections!!!) Lee does tend to turn around to talk to you while he's driving, but thats what makes the whole experience that little bit more fun!!!!!

Paul D  (23 May 2004)

This was one of the best days out on our 2 weeks out in Zante. A great bunch of CRAZY people!! Our 5 yr old son Brad really enjoyed it and has been telling all his mates at school about his day out on 'the army jeep'. If you are planning to do a jeep trip then look for ZAFARI. You wont be disapointed. This is not a boring coach trip. There are around 10 of you in the back of an open top jeep that you get bounced around off road (seatbelts compulsary!) some of the crazyest stories/myths ever are told. Cant praise this enough. Cheers to Lee, Paul and Spiros for a great day out. EXCELLENT. Paul,Camille, Brad (Huddersfield Scooter Club). See ya next year guys. oh yeah and if you want some footie banter pick Lee's jeep - crazy Leeds fan from Morley with a mad hat !!!!!

Maria B  (20 May 2004)

the best excursion we did by far. Lee was a fab driver although it would have been nice for him to keep his eyes on the road a bit more on those cliff edges instead of telling his mad stories!!!!! Thanxs lee for a fab day out!

Helen B  (20 May 2004)

They come and get you about 9 in the morning and your back in resort about 5ish.
It's really good fun. Be prepared to get covered in dust! If you go say hi to Lee from me.

Alex H  (20 May 2004)

never been on this trip before but am very interested.how long does it usually take?????????

Mail forwarding had been down recently but is now back on line. If you have not had reply to any emails @zakfari.com, then please resend so i can reply. thanks

Rimmer   (26 October 2003)

Brian - If you had let me loose with your camera, then i would have thought of a different name for the day! All cameras at wreck viewpoint were circa 1960, or disposable!!!

Thanks for your photos, they all look great

Kieran R  (26 October 2003)

SCREAM DAY
This is definately the best trip on the island, best part is definately the village shop @ the end. Big thanx to Lee(felt a lot safer with a northerner driving!!) for all his interesting stories! Clare says hi. Not too sure about the horse outside the giants cave though Serise seemed really knowledgeable about everthing else. Me and my girlfriend absolutely loved it, views and sights were brilliant.

Brian M  (25 October 2003)

Another bunch of scottish loons on the "Grannies Camera Day" and i dont know what you were talking about i had a 400 digi-cam that day! I have no complaints but praises for the guys on this day out. We were picked up promptly, we were kept in fits of laughter with the wee patter man paul! cheers for a good day out! and as arnie says "i'll be back"

Clive W  (23 October 2003)

Started the day in open backed long wheelbase landrovers.spiros was our driver.Colourful character who had his own views on the general info on the tour, wonderful driver.off road was a hoot and got the bruises to prove it.Paul, the tour leader was an excellent entertainer.the whole crew were excellent and I would thoroughly recommend this day out for everyone ,great value!!!!
Harry potter day!
PS can you get lee his own toilet for future victims?

Gill A  (21 October 2003)

Hi we went on RABBIT DAY!!! Zakfari is by far the best way to see Zante at its best. The views were brilliant and as for Lee's driving well that was the best. Malcolm was good with all his knowledge about the island but he never took us to his house for that cuppa he promised when we were up at saksina mansion!!! Maybe next year when we come back in May. Good luck with the drive back to the UK. Julie says thanks to Lee for the jacket he lent her as it was just a tad cold that day!!!

Zara C  (21 October 2003)

"MORLEY DAY" but really "TWO BLONDES AND TWO BRUMMIES"

It was a brilliant day and Lee made it even better he was very very funny, we enjoyed the sight seeing and would recommend it to anyone who wants to see the island. Lee went to that pink house - you werent there!!!! We will deffinately be coming back to Zante to go on the Zakfari again.

Have a good trip back to the UK wish i came back that way!

Lee when your back email me so we can meet up!

Love the REAL un-pregnant blonde! x x x

Angela G  (20 October 2003)

What can be said about RABBIT DAY it was great Malcolm's commentray outstanding and as for Lee's driving skills well done. a totally enjoyable day out would do it again. have asafe journey back to the UK.

Rachel barraclough T  (19 October 2003)

"grannies camera day"

rachel and tony were on paul's jeep.10/10 to him for his knowlegde and humour he was so funny, we were the two on the back of his jeep remember us paul?? u took the p**s out of us for been from leeds same as lee, we'll cu again next year! keep up all the good work and ladies just a word of warning wear a good bra bit bumpy x x

Joanne L  (18 October 2003)

HI LADS,THIS IS JO AND PETE WHO CAME ALONG ON THE HARRY POTTER DAY. LEE MIGHT REMEMBER US AS THE TWO AT THE BACK FROM LEICESTER.THIS IS JUST TO SAY THANKS FOR A REALLY GOOD DAY OUT AND I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE GOING TO ZANTE AS THE LADS ARE A RIGHT LAUGH AND 10/10 FOR LEES DRIVING UP THE ROCKY STEPS.BUT I DO RECOMMEND ALL LADIES TO WEAR GOOD BRAS AS I COULD,NT WORK OUT WHY PEOPLE IN THE JEEP BEHIND WERE WAVING AT ME! WHEN WE COME BACK WE WILL SEE U AGAIN AS THIS MADE THE HOLIDAY.NICE ONE JOANNE AND PETE....

Sonya W  (15 October 2003)

We were part of the 'Cheese and Spinach Pie' trip on the 18/09. My 6yr old Son thought the off-road was fantastic, my 2yr old on the other hand was frightened to death! However, she made up for it at the wine tasting, she liked the 'red juice'! Highlight for me -seeing smugglers cove (even if it did take me 15mins to get there!) and swimming in the sulphur springs. Very good story teller's, like the one about the 'cloudy' water in the wells!!!! Overall a great day and an absolute must. Thank you all x x x

Pete D  (14 October 2003)

Sorry, forgot to rate everything as EXCELLENT on my last comment!

Pete D  (14 October 2003)

"No row (yet)" day Friday 10/10/2003

Had a great time, you get some fantastic views of the Island that you would never see otherwise. How they get the Land Rovers through some of the small villages beats me. Lovely water from the wells but not sure about the giant and his horse!

Tracey D  (13 October 2003)

HANGOVER MAN DAY
Had a great time and the scouser driver excellent, very funny but full of bull s--t - don't believe what he says!!!! ask him about SPAM, SPAM - If you were on the trip with us you will be pleased to know Hangover Man all ok and back to normal!!!!
Serious note a brilliant trip and a lovely way to see the island. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Tracey and Mark the Hangover Man Doolan from LUTON -- Come on your Hatters

Rebecca N  (12 October 2003)

'CHEESE & SPINACH PIE DAY' - 18.09.03
This trip was the highlight of our holiday. Paul's knowledge of the island and his witty comments made it a fantastic day. At 6.5 months pregnant I had been worried about booking a 'bumpy' excursion. Visions of a mad Greek driver hurtling over dusty boulders came to mind. However I needn't have worried, there was no mad Greek driver - just a mad english man called Paul, but his driving was excellent!! - baby stayed safely in my tummy and my hubby and I had the best day of all the holiday. Thoroughly recommended.

Simon P  (11 October 2003)

Paul I have just got back from my usual visit to Zakynthos and was told by my First Choice Rep that Zakfari was not running, consequently I did not book a trip this time!
However, upon reading the comments on this website I have found out that Zakfari IS running!
I am annoyed to say the least as I was looking forward to seeing you guys again and repeating the good times I had travelling around the island last year.
Sorry Buddy :( Next year perhaps?

Neill P  (10 October 2003)

Our day was dubbed 'Cat bite Day' 17th Sept, after the bubbly (Paul might say mad!) fair Irish maid Catherine got stung by a bug and her hand swelled hugely. Paul was our driver for the day.
This tour is tops and the best trip on the island. Stunning views and good company. It gets bumpy so don't go if you had a skinfull the night before or if your piles are playing up! Also hang on to your hat.... my wife lost her cap.
Thanks a lot Paul and crew.....
p.s. Can we have that Zak Saf Cap now? ;)
Cheers, Neill and Julie.

Rachel B  (10 October 2003)

rachel and tony (grannies camera day) thought your trip was brilliant told all my friends and family see you again next year keep up the good work!!!

Linda P  (09 October 2003)

Brilliant day out, saw some great sights, had a lot of fun. Malcom is a really good guide, Spiros an excellent driver, and Lee the joker.I would recomend this trip to anyone. We were on "musical chairs day" September 27th.Thanks for a great day.

Jeanette C  (09 October 2003)

Zakfari t-shirt day. Paul was on fine form again this year and looked great in his nice new white t-shirt made by Dawn. It fitted perfectly too :) The trip is still the very best trip that I have EVER done. You travel right round the island on the back of the jeep and we were in Paul's jeep again. He had everyone in stitches. Barbara had us all giggling when she threw a plastic cricket out of the side of the jeep. This a great opportunity to get your hangover free wine too and it is true as we tried it out. Now what to wear for next year ... how about the Zakfari fan club!!!!!

Ruth A  (09 October 2003)

We were on "coronation day" in Paul's jeep. His knowledge of the island is excellent (even the giant and his horse!)and this is definately the ONLY way to see Zante. Be prepared it can be very dusty. It was the best day of our holiday by far. Thanks!

Sharon B  (08 October 2003)

Ollie Reed day, great day out, loved the banter,Spiros, how did you manage to get that beast of a jeep through all those little tiny villages?Girls make sure you wear a good bra and take a jacket it can get a lot breezy. We went for a week, first time in greece, and picked the best trip on the island,it seems a bit pricey, but well worth it.Malcolm if you fancy a job change in the winter, you can always join the lookalike agency (ollie) keep up the good work guys. Sharon and Rick Brown

Dawn   (07 October 2003)

ZAKFARI T-SHIRT DAY

Still the best day out on the island! It was my fourth trip and still I enjoyed every second finding the day fun, adventurous and entertaining.

Paul was wonderful as our guide and driver (as always) and looked great in his new ZAKFARI T-SHIRT even if not quite as cute as the bear looked in his!

Already looking forward to next year - and wondering what I can do to top the t-shirts!

Dave C  (06 October 2003)

My wife and I were there on "Coronation Day." Absolutely superb. You see so much of the island in a unique way; places which you normally would not get the chance to as they are so far off road.

If you do one trip whilst on holidayin Zante make sure it is the Zakfari trip !

Rimmer   (05 October 2003)

Gemma - ah yes....'gobby women day'...i remember it well! Will get the earplugs ready for your arrival!!!

Gemma   (05 October 2003)

Cheers Rimmer!! Will have to do that. went on zakfari last September ( gobby women day) wnd thought it was was of the best days of out holiday. Hopefully will make it again his year.

Rachel B  (04 October 2003)

Hiya! Me and my boyfriend were on the Zakfari T-shirt Day Jeep Safari. It was fantastic! A huge thank you to our driver Spiros. John sez thanks for letting him sit in the front and lending that hat! Overall it was a brilliant day and we took loads of photo's and loved every minute. I recommend anyone to go on this excursion!! See ya next year!

Rachel Bean and John Daly

Louise L  (04 October 2003)

MUSICAL CHAIRS DAY - SEPT 27TH 03
What a fantastic trip! I would recommend it to anyone! Girls - wear a good bra - much bobbing around! Lee and Malcom were excellent, every where we went was great! Great views, great jeeps, great off-road, great food, great information and knowledge, great swimming! Even the flat tyre on the way home was great!
If you get the change to go then DO IT! Dont go with any of the other companies. If you want to go on a jeep safari, Zakfari is the way to do it!

Rimmer   (02 October 2003)

Gemma - We are running till the 21st October this year. Best to book with Frances at tsilivi travel (link via www.zakfari.com).

Hope to see you soon

Andrea N  (02 October 2003)

We had a great time on the International Day out!! Even though we actually managed to get ourselves on the "wrong trip" - I was very glad about this by the end of the day because other people had told us that their island tours with other operators did not last as long - nor did they get to do all the walking/sight seeing which we did !!! My chappy finally got over his embarassing sprained girly ankle (after much whinging). Our driver was brilliant even though Adonis could not speak much English he certainly knew the word "faster" and drove like a Greek maniac !! Best trip we took!

Susie V  (01 October 2003)

Hi! Both my flatmate and I loved Zakfari - it was great fun!!! Absolutely unmissable fun packed day out. Amazing driving skills, interesting info on the island, fantastic comedy moments - I'm still wishing we had drank from "that" well - and great photo opportunities.
We tried to prove Paul wrong and drunk MANY bottles of local wine to see if there would be any hangover. As promised, neither of us felt anything the following day. Amazing!!!
Lots of love, Brazilian Susie from the International Day.

Gemma   (01 October 2003)

hi,
could you tell me when zakfari stops running for the summer? because me and my friend are thinking of coming out on october 15th.
Cheers

Kellie   (01 October 2003)

**International Day**

Spiros was our driver for the day... what a legend but I still think he could of driven faster on the off road parts! Keep that foot down Spiros.

It was a excellent and exciting way to see the island. Me and my friend really enjoyed it so we would recommend it to anyone looking for a good day out. You get to see some things you normally wouldn't see on a day tour. The drivers are friendly but can tell a few dodgy stories.

Paul - the honey we purchased is yummy and the wine went down very wnicely the next night. We only had a slight headache the next day I'm glad to say.

Keep up the good work guys!

All the best,

The kiwi girls.

Scott M  (30 September 2003)

We were part of the Beatle Day group with Malcolm as our Chauffeur, all I can say is that I was glad Malcolm was not our Chauffeur on our wedding day on the 20/09/03. The whole day from start to finish was absolutely brilliant. Malcolm and Paul were great guides their knowledge and banter was well worth the money its self. Anyone reading this site should definitely book a trip with Zakfari you will not be disappointed.
Keep up the good works guys.

Karen F  (30 September 2003)

I also went on Bettle Day and if you do only one excursion then you have to do this one. The off roading was great and you see most of the island and some of the views are amazing. A big thumbs up.

Tracie H  (29 September 2003)

We went on Bettle Day and it was excellant the sites you see are fab but what is really great are the Tour Guides. Dionass was the best off road driver ever! If you looking for an excellant day out then This is by far the best excursion 10/10

Paul T  (28 September 2003)

ELEFANTASTIC:- We went on braveheart day (19th July 2003 we think) and it was the best day of our two week holiday.Talk about dust and me covered in it well. Lee said he had not seen anyone covered so badly and could not stop laughing at me all through the trip, Half way on the trip we arrived at a old olive tree, the oldest on the Island. Lee had some speel to say about the history of it but was in tears of laughter instead due to my state.
We went round and saw the whole Island,Had some great views including the two Londoners Who were in the Jeep infront of us who's bra strap had fallen down off her sholders and her Tits bobbed up and down all through the off road experiance. All the men were glued to the scenery infront.Really had a great time and there were some great sights especially the highest mountain on the Island and the views below. The Sulpher beach was a experiance, Quite a refreshing expreince, IT WAS FREEZING and left you smelling of rotten eggs for the next week. I can't recomend this trip highly enough as it was great. Lee mentioned a car park at the local shop which said "BIG PARKING" and only had room for a bike.WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK LEE,MALCOLM,& SPIROS FOR SUCH A GREAT TIME.
Only thing i felt that could be improved is where we stopped for lunch. This was commercial and somewhat expensive for what you got and presentation was basic and this spoiled the experiance. Perhaps somewhere in the middle of nowhere for lunch might have made it alot better.

Louise S  (28 September 2003)

fish bite day...a fantastic day out, well worth every penny, views were amazing and must be seen, guides and drivers all excellent...thank you spiros for getting us back to glavas safely. would recomend this to all visiting zante. don't make the same mistake as me though and go in flip flops a good pair of shoes is highly recomended. all in all an excellent way to get dirty and smelly!

Sydney R  (27 September 2003)

A great way to see the Island made better by the cheery and friendly manner of the drivers and the first class information given by the guide

Code name given for the day was `Breezer Day`

Ben V  (26 September 2003)

Excellent trip, was a bit worried about the price at first but you do see almost the entire island including areas you wouldnt be able to get to in a car. I was on "Hangover day" and Malcom was the driver. Take a camera because the views are amazing!

Rachel & Kirsty  (24 September 2003)

"Baywatch Day"
Thanks to Lee, Michael & Spiros for a fantastic and entertaining day. It was by far the best day of our 2 week holiday. We loved the bumpy, dusty off-road driving, stories (true & false), views, life-saving and best of all the rubber insects (watch out for Lee!).

Susan G  (24 September 2003)

SHOTGUN DAY!!!!!!!

This was an excellent day out! From the highest point on Zante Island to the smelliest, we got to see all the sights. I even managed to see the giant horse in the cave. Spiros was excellent as out driver and we even got beauty tips from Paul while at the Sulphur Beach. It was definitely worth the money and I would go again in a shot! (Excuse the pun) Hi to the Twins by the way, hope the second week of your holiday was as good as the first.

Rachel P  (24 September 2003)

Had a great time on the "Luton Town" day, thanks to Paul for the non-stop (but funny!) innuendos, and for shouting the drinks in the pub that night!! Hi to Wendy, Collette, Jo, Claire, Laura, Beth, Mark, Carl and of course, Vegas Phil, the image of you in your white tuxedo will stay with me forever!! Anyone wanting to explore Zante should try Zakfari - word of advice, DO NOT BE HUNGOVER!!

Julie A  (22 September 2003)

It has been a while since we took your excellent jeep safari. It was early July. We were "Pompey Day". What a great premiership side!!!
Missing Zante and cant wait to come back. Aimee said she thought the cave was great, thanks Lee for going in with her even though it was freezing and smelly.

See you all soon, will bring the rest of the family next time.

Jenni W  (22 September 2003)

Shotgun day!

Well I think we certainly managed to scare Malcolm!

Thanks so much for a great day out - this is definitely the best excursion on the island - and you get to see most of the island, and loads of good sites.

When the Rep told us about this it seemed quite expensive BUT having been it is definitely excellent value for money.

Maria D  (21 September 2003)

"Fish Bite Day", Lee was our driver and Saria was our guide. We had so much fun and laughter was constant in the Jeep what with Lee's tall stories and bad jokes, thanks to the people in the Jeep aswell this made for a fantastic day. If you only have money for one trip then this is the trip to do, don't go on the sun kissed cruise waste of money and you won't see any turtles, you will catch a better tan on zakfari whilst seeing more of the island than you could see if you hired a car yourself.
Essentials to take: Money, towell, comfortable shoes, sun glasses, water, hat( don't wear it in the Jeep!) and a good sense of humour.

Thank you Lee for helping us out, the Greek night was fun!! Photos to follow!

Steve H  (21 September 2003)

We went on Early Bird Day - Spiros was our driver - had a great day - loved the tall stories - Spiros didn't believe any of them ha ha - great way to see the island off road - took time to get the smell of rotting eggs off our clothes (sulphur bath) - I want a refund I don't look 10 years younger. Tip if you go take a jumper it does get a bit chilly up in the mountains. Great trip - well worth going. All the best Steve & Sheila x

Valerie & Clive  (20 September 2003)

Hi to all of you on Bib Day! The bib was presented to Lee because he spills his lunch on his t-shirt, so Paul then took over the tradition and spilt his on his shorts. Suggest a pinny for Paul!
Had a fab day, great value for money considering all the things we saw - great fun off roading, thanks Adonis...! (I think!)

Corinna P  (19 September 2003)

Hello,

I went on "Baywatch Day" (Thurs 4th Sept). A fantastic day out, had a fab time, even though it was a bit hairy out at the Devil's Mouth where a valant rescue attempt was made (well done to Lee & Paul). The trip was packed full of things to do, trekking for the best view of shipwreck beach (avoiding the dodgy viewing platform!), swimming in the sulphur sea, trying to eat an ice-cream while going off-road and a little bit of wine tasting to top it all off. Thanks to Lee who was a fab driver, kept us all laughing.

Cory

Louisa T  (19 September 2003)

A few things i forgot to include....
~The sulphur sea worked a treat on my skin, i was spot free!
~Oh, i was here on the day that Spiros's neice was on the trip.
~Definalty the best trip the holiday, beats 'Sunkissed Cruise' anyday!

Thank you xxx

Louisa T  (19 September 2003)

From the 'Live wire' day!
I'm surprised i remembered the website address and the day-name. It's Louisa from the Judith and Louisa 'gang', im the quiet one, who Paul said didnt talk, and kept reminding me that i could get married at 14 in Zante. I thoroughly enjoyed the Zakfari trip although, i think i must have had some grit in my eye from the jeep journeys, which i had to visit the hotel doctor for, it was dripping for 2 days, when it miraculously healed! :o) Ill scan some photos i took (when i remembered to take my camera) and post them on the site. Thanks for the trip, my mum was satisfied for weeks after! Judith & Louisa xxx

Sue   (19 September 2003)

"Adonis' Pinch Day"
We always ended up being the last jeep, so it was dusty but great fun. Lee was an excellent laugh with his tall stories (we didn't believe even half of them!). Good views of the island and loads of chances to make fun of our lippy driver, how do you say dwarf again???
Zakfari should be on everyone's list when they visit the island.

Kerry N  (18 September 2003)

hi to everyone on the "off road day" has he still got his job? back home now back feels like such along time has past it was only last week i was there.Hi to lee you were great im sooo glad we got you. hope to come back soon, next week would be good!!!

Terry W  (17 September 2003)

Best excursion on the Island. We were there on "push Pauls Jeep" day and the whole crowd were up for a laugh Cheers to Spiros , Paul and Lee for a great day.

James D  (17 September 2003)

"Tommy Turtle Day"

Fantastic day out that showed us some of Zante's best sites. Great driving, superb guides & amazing scenery.

Highly recommended.

Sarah S  (15 September 2003)

Amy G  (15 September 2003)

This was my 2nd trip on Zakfari this summer and it was just as good as the 1st time(in June). The rain didn't stop us having a good time on Luton Town Day and a huge thank you to Paul, Lee, Spiros and our very, very crazy driver Adonis. That man is MAD!!!
Do this trip, you will learn so much, laugh a lot and end up covered in bruises if Adonis is your driver!!!

Gemma E  (15 September 2003)

oh and that was 'jeep won't start day'...but we'll just gloss over that!

Gemma E  (15 September 2003)

I'm home! Literally just got back from my 2 weeks in Zante and I have to say the best day I had was on the Zakfari tour! It gave me a chance to see the whole of the Island, learn about its history and hear some funny (and obviously true stories) about Giants and Monsters. Paul and the other tour guides were so friendly they made the day great and since it was Paul's eyes I looked into between the so called 'love rocks' I have no choice but to always remember and love him and the experience.

p.s. will add pics when I get them developed!

Mel L  (14 September 2003)

'twig day'
Fantastic trip, need I say more! Saw everything worth seeing on the island, Paul our driver was excellent, just a shame for him that Plymouth beat Luton at the weekend!!
Definately not one to miss.

Lauren J  (14 September 2003)

twig day

hey every1 it was such a good day we had lee as our driver an we had such a laff lee is the best an made the day well funny. your probably remeber me as doreen instead of lauren as saria thought tht was wat i was called. saw some amazing sites. excellant day wen we come bk def do it agen xxx

Mike & Liz  (13 September 2003)

The "My little Shadow" Day was excellent - we've been back over a month now and this one day brings back lot's of very happy memories - there was not a single moment where the fast pace slowed down. From the stories and annecdotes to the off the track breathtaking view's.

You know you're in very capable and safe hands with these folk - just strap yourselves in for the ride of your life!!!

Many thanks to Paul, Lee, Matt and Spiros - the high-jinks and spirit of fun in this one day put all the other excursions to shame - an excellent standard

Keep up the good work...

Mikey and Lizzie...

Andi M  (12 September 2003)

Tommy the turtle day......

The day was probably th best trip we did on the Island, I have been going to Zakynthos for 10 years and saw more in one day than all the other times. Nice and hot, the offroading was great and the scenery was breath taking.

Paul, Malcolm and Spiros were all great and some of the stories had us chuckling for hours, especialy the "Ouzo well". Thanks to Tom for getting the singing Turtle, just to annoy Paul..!!

All the way to Zante to find a jeep safari company run by someone from Luton!!

A must do event!!

Rachel L  (08 September 2003)

Baywatch\Lifesavers day
Best day of the holiday. Loads of sites and stories - I gave up trying to work out which stories where local legends and which were made up on the spot!
The horses, elephant, giant's brother and ET were a definite test for the mind and the swim to the Devil's Throat cave in those waves was an even bigger test for the body.

Jayne M  (08 September 2003)

It was silly wig day and Lee our driver had the birthday boy on boards. The trip was excellent never laughed so much for a long time.Lee's moved to zante after presenting jackanory! Don't believe the one about the duke and the goat. (very tall I think)

Anna G  (07 September 2003)

Best trip on the island. Not to be missed. Highlight of the Holiday. All guides were great, but a special thanks to Spiros who made the day for us! Not the cheapest trip, but you get what you pay for - don't be tight your are on holiday!
Day Code - Princess of Wales
All the best,

Anna G  (07 September 2003)

Best trip on the island. Not to be missed. Highlight of the Holiday. All guides were great, but a special thanks to Spiros who made the day for us! Not the cheapest trip, but you get what you pay for - don't be tight your are on holiday!

David C  (03 September 2003)

Red Nose Day
What a great day!! There is not much to see on the island, but this trip gets you to all those places!
we would recommend that you go on the trip before hiring a car as it is a great way to get your bearings.

Laurie W  (01 September 2003)

What a fantastic day out. By far the best excursion on the Island.
Our family included myself, Jan, Jon, Nadia, Kayleigh and of course Sammy Jo. We went on what was christened "Honeymooners Day". The guide was Paul, The 2 Spiros' and Malcolm made up the team.
We got dusty, hot, bounced around, thirsty and thouroughly entertained.

Many thanks team, I would recommend this to all who go to Zante.

Nigel S  (31 August 2003)

St. Dennis Day - We travelled in Paul's jeep and he got us all to mix in from the start. It was the best way to see the Island and we feel that we saw all that was on offer. All of the crew were very freindly and helped to make the day, which turned out to be the highlite of the holiday and left us with good memories. Thanks for getting the reading glasses back to us Paul, did'nt realise how difficult life was without them. Thanks for a good day out - Lyn & Nigel

Brad   (31 August 2003)

I still didn't manage top get it right. Excellent all round!

Brad   (31 August 2003)

Prior to my last comment. It wasn't just average, it was ace! (I didn't notice the little thumbs at the top!)

Brad   (31 August 2003)

'Fish Bite Day' Top day out. Malcolm, was our driver and he, Spiros, Lee and Soria were a superb team and made the day very memorable. If you ever go to Zante I couldn't recommend this day out enough. For an alternative view of the day visit www.freewebs.com/brad

Ciara   (30 August 2003)

"Little DICKIE Day" - This had to be the best tour we went on - a brilliant day out. Malcolm our driver was great. You get to see parts of the Island you would not have otherwise seen, stunning views as well along with lots of really interesting information about the Island. If anyone from Budget Travel happens to read this You have to start offering this trip it is well worth it!! Paul, thanks for your speedy responses to all my questions previous - This trip is a must- I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see Zante in style!! Keep up the good work!

Martin M  (29 August 2003)

After booking the Zakfari through our olympic rep my wife had second thoughts, we had hired a car and saw some of the 4 x 4 off road places! as the day came she was aprehensive to take our four children along these tracks.
It was GREAT we all enoyed the day emensly LEE our driver was a great laugh it wasn't at all what we expected it was better if you only do one thing on the island this is a must if you get LEE your in for an even better day.
Flip flops are not advisable, costume, towel, water, and camera highly recommended.

Stephanie T  (29 August 2003)

****HENRY'S VIDEO DAY**** We would like to thank you all at Zakfari for an excellent day, the best of our two week holiday. Its an excellent way to see and experience the 'wonders' of Zante. We all especially liked our cheeky driver Lee from our home town of Leeds he helped to lift our Lagana hangovers and make the most of our exhilirating day. Steph, Sam and Rachel those naughty nurses from, Leeds.

Brian W  (27 August 2003)

"Little Dickie Day"...
Definately the best day of our 2 weeks on the Island. Lee (the goat) AKA Lily Savage was an excellent driver, although probably quite mad.
The female guide (sorry, still can't remember your name!) was also very good, and obviously knows a huge amount about Zakynthos.
The day was an absolute scorcher, our seven year old commenting she felt like "melted cheese". However, it was great to be travelling in an open topped vehicle which cooled us down, as did the freezing water at the Sulphur beach (hence the code name for the day).
The only minor downside of this trip was the meal, which was expensive and not very nice. The restaurant also tried to overcharge us. (It should be noted this is not a reflection on Zakfari itself).
This trip is an absolute must, and was worth every euro.

Christine M  (27 August 2003)

Hi everyone. This is the 'black Deidre barlow' from Huddersfield who attended the 'northern softies' safari. The day was brilliant - informative friendly guides, great group of people on board, picturesque scenery, tremendous weather, plus I had a laugh! Well worth it. Thanks again guys, (Malcolm, guy with bandage on hand, and Yorkshire lad - Morley Man!) you're doing a great job!

Michelle M  (27 August 2003)

Myself (Michelle) & Daughter (Grace)went on Fishermans Day.
A great day out, thanks to Paul our Driver and Escort for the day, his commentary/knowledge of the island, history and "myths" was fantastic (particulary liked the story about Well No. 1). Be prepared to get dusty and you will definitely sleep well, once the Tour was finished I felt dirty, knackered and exhilirated. Contact Lense wearers ...leave them out! They really hurt when the dust gets in your eyes, take your specs though for some breathtaking views. Made new friends on the Safari too as Paul encouraged us to chat.
If you do any trip on Zakynthos - you must do this one. The local honey is great and I've still to try the mountaine herbs (Pauls Remommendation) to see if I do hallucinate!!...Oh and finally hold on to your hats. Hi to all that were on my Jeep especially to Wasfi and her Mom, thanks for asking us to Dinner, Grace and I had a really good time.

Steve T  (26 August 2003)

Went on Fishermans Day.(19/08/03) Brilliant.Pauls commentary was excellant as was his driving. If you do one trip THIS IS THE ONE.More information than anywhere else, more interesting sights than anywhere else, more fun than anywhere else.Keep up the good work and see you again soon. Steve, Judith(the one thats not a prostitute!) and Tim(the fisherman)

Nigel G  (26 August 2003)

We went on the 'soft Northerner' day. Spiros our driver had great difficulty starting the Land Rover every time we made a stop but it all added to the fun of the day (so much for the carb tune up the night before). If you go to Zakynthos this tour is a must. You see parts of the island only possible in the ZAKFARI vehicles plus all those possible in a 56 seater coach. The crew were fantastic, great sense of humour. Spiros our driver was a bit quiet (we were told he was shy) but whilst throwing us around the back of the Land Rover on off road sections he giggled away and shouted 'ZAKFARI'. I really do not know how we can give a greater 'comfort' value.......we were in the back of LR 110's off road after all. Value.....it cost us E200 for the four of us but it was the best E200 we spent. The meal cost us an extra E35 and quite honestly I have had better. Overall a superb day and I would recommend it to anyone but watch out for sun stroke.

Steve C  (24 August 2003)

We went on the Little Dickie Day, so named for the cooling effect of the water at the Sulphur Beach on a certain Dutch mans body!!!. We all really enjoyed the day out and saw lots of plces we would never have got to see. The views are stunning and the pictures off the ship wreck are breathtaking. The off roading was superb and Spiros our driver was excellent. Also meet some really nice people in our jeep and would like to say thanks Simon and Jane and the other couple whose names escape me for making it a great day out. Only little critisim is that at a 127 for four people it ain't a cheap day out, but all in all I would say forget the all day boat trip looking for invisible turtles and go on the Jeep Safari.

Kim H  (24 August 2003)

noisy michaels day fantastic day.thank you lee for the best trip we had in zante, forget the boat trips this is the only trip you need ,fantastic sights you will see from this trip you will get great information about zante on zakfari safari then any other trip you take on the island, having taken two boat trips smugglers cove and island cruise they havant got a patch on this trip great views of smugglers cove from top of the cliffs breathtaking.all you need for this trip is plenty of water a towel and a good camera.this will be the best day you have in zante you will see the best sights and learn more about zante then all the other trips put together and you get free wine at one of the stops .thank you lee and the gang again, lee the old ladies did shout come on leeds.thanks again.

Clare B  (21 August 2003)

"Bump start day" - What a fantastic day out! Definitely one of the highlights of the holiday. Not only did we get to see lots of the island, including bits that we wouldn't have normally seen, but met some interesting people as well. I particularly loved seeing the little old man walking up the hill with his can of Amstell! Paul, your commentary and stories were excellent and greatly added to the day (still waiting for the drink though!) Yes Ken and Lyn, I did enjoy myself, despite the interrogation! I would definitely recommend this trip as a must.
Would love to hear from anyone I met on that day.
Clare "without an i" (clareb_795@hotmail.com)

Eddy E  (21 August 2003)

We went on Wussie Northener Types day and what a day it was! A much more interesting way to see the sights than by boat, the guides were excellent - informative, chatty, humourous and extremely reckless drivers! By the end of the trip I felt I had known the people in the jeep all my life - the guides were that good at getting us to feel at ease and in a group. The only possible bad thing was the lunch which was slightly expensive, rather English and extremely bulked out by chips. Other than that, a huge thumbs up! Go on it, you won't regret it!

Bucks B  (19 August 2003)

we went on 'malcoms bow wave day' 24th july. lee was our driver and i have to say that he was fantastic even though there were some strange smells coming from his vasinity everytime he told one of his stories!!!! if you know what i am saying. the day was fantastic fun if very bumpy and a great way to see the island. we would highly recommend you do this trip if no other whilst staying on zakynthos.
one recomendation - hold on to your hat it can get very windy (thank you paul). make sure you look after all your girlfriends during the winter lee, and by the way anorak & p**vert say they have bought a yellow bucket for a game of leap frog but ask should they put the eye holes in the back or front????????

Andy H  (18 August 2003)

'Noisy Michael' day
This trip is a must for anyone that wants to see the island in a day.
The guide who explained everything to us was excellent for the job... Informative, knowledgeable, funny, sensible, safety conscious, ENGLISH SPEAKING.
Just remember to take water, sun cream and swimming costume and you should be guaranteed a superb day out.
Even the smells at the end of the day were good.
THANK YOU!

Sarah R  (18 August 2003)

Captivating, passionate, enthusiastic, entertaining, scenic,...and thats just the drivers!!!
Lydia has not stopped talking about the day that was named after her...LYDIA'S day (the one with no front teeth), we had a fantastic holiday and Zakfari was the BEST trip we did by far. (Oh yeah, it was the only trip, but you dont need to do any more because you see all there is to see)
Lee...Dwarf and binoculors...live on!!
Paul...Dont forget to buy more sugar for Sept (left a full bag in hotel)
Mini - Don - obviously the spy has worked, managed to cut ties on both sides, which has needed doing for about a year now, well done!!!

See you all soon.
Love Lydia's mummy
xx

Clive M  (17 August 2003)

Went on safari on lots of cute kids day. Really great day out - very hot, very dusty but worth it and the swim at the end was terrific. Our thanks to Paul (remember Adele the fish), Lee, Malcolm and Spiros for the best excursion of our holiday. Thoroughly recommended to all. Good luck to you all, Elaine, Clive and Adele.

Rimmer   (16 August 2003)

Joseph - I have a few pictures left on the vehicles this year. Tell me what it is a picture of, and it is yours! Mail me at zakfari@hotmail.com with details and your address.

Joseph M  (16 August 2003)

the jeep safari was good and interesting and the female guide was fantastic and very knowledgable which made it an even more enjoyable day!lee, the driver ensured we had a bumpy ride and loved zooming through the puddles to try n get us wet!overall it was an enjoyable day which i would recommend 2 any1!ps.any chance of us gettin our picture bak that was left under lee's seat!?....thanx for an enjoyable n memorable day out!

Ian F  (15 August 2003)

Loose Wire day was excellent, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I'm sure Spirios needn't worry about what employment to take up off season. I'm sure there is a WRC works team out there just waiting for him to call. Next years Rally of Greece to be held on Zakyntos? Perhaps not!!!!!! Thanks again.

Mark B  (15 August 2003)

'loose wire day' Had a great day out. Our eleven year old son thoroughly enjoyed the off road experience, Spiros was a great driver.
Generaly not a great fan of organised excursions but this one I highly recommend.
A big thankyou to the Zakfari team.

Phil T  (13 August 2003)

Excellent excursion. The drivers pulled the passengers into a freindly team and Paul (it is Arnold Rimmer isn't it?) gave some really good talks on locations one would not otherwise have visited..

Excellent for anyone over the age of 10.

Remember Malcolms shoppers!!!!

Paul H  (13 August 2003)

We went on Gremlin's day and Wow what a day
only bit of advice i have is put you towel on your seat when you get out for a look around cos roast bum isnt nice :)
hope new spiros got his jeep fixed and old spiros is quite a good guide ( but he wont admit it)
Thanks for a great day out to all the zakfari team

Tony M  (13 August 2003)

starter motor day. what a great day on zakfari, if your going to do anything on zante make sure you do this, it was excellent.
lee the driver & "guide" was great(if you see this lee , your crap at quizzes), he made the day. it was really interesting & a great laugh. just make sure your you wear trainers & not flip flops.
the scousers

Ann & Tony  (12 August 2003)

I'm the sort of person who is built for comfort and not for speed, so I was a little anxious about the prospect of bouncing around in a jeep all day in the heat. My concerns were ill founded and Tony and I had an incredible day!
The stories were interesting and the sights awesome.
If you are only going to do one trip during your holiday this is the one!!!!!

Simon R  (12 August 2003)

Just want to say what a great day was had on the Zakfari Jeep Safari. Even the "dodgy starter motor" entertained, keep that hammer safe Paul!

We went on several trips and cruises on the 2 weeks we spent in Zante and without a doubt, we saw and learnt more about the island during this day than all the others combined.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Jennie C  (11 August 2003)

Hole in my bucket day!: I would recommend this day out to anyone visiting zante and make sure that it is zakfari as the other
jeep safaris are closed in jeeps!! Dont believe anything that Lee tells you ( snakes and beetles falling in the jeep when going through
olive trees!!) He's a sound bloke really, great driver and entertainer! By the way sorry to hear about what happend on Saturday (9th) is Lee o.k. (let us know, ta)
Great Value for money, great way to see the island and meet new people. jennie and alan Liverpool xxxx

Ken P  (11 August 2003)

Lyn and I (Ken) went on Bump Start day, let me tell you this is a must. The day was superb, Paul entertained us with great stories about the different locations and sights visited (still don't believe the giant thing ! sorry). If you only do one trip whilst in Zante do the Jeep Safari. Thanks again Paul and the crew for a fantastic day out, and I am sure Clare without an "i" enjoyed it too.....

Marcella   (11 August 2003)

we went on lots of cute kids day! it was the best day out we had in zante. it is such value for money. paul was excellent and the stories were very entertaining! the places we visited were excellent especially the swim stop!
i would say that this trip is a must for anybody visiting the island.
marcella

Robin L  (09 August 2003)

A terrfic day - a great bunch of fellow explorers and terrific drivers. Some excellent stories and a well managed day!

Thanks we had a great time

Robin & Emily

Laura P  (08 August 2003)

We went on the 'Sulphur Chickens day', and would recommened this trip to anyone! The places that we visited were fantastic especially smugglers cove! The view from there was stunning.

Spyros the driver was a great guy and very entertaining. The rest of the staff were brill also. The story of the "Special Well" was very intresting may it run cloudy again soon.

We will be back to glorious Zante next year!!!!!

Love Sue,Danny, Laura and Dan xx

Susan W  (08 August 2003)

"Puddle Day" - aptly named - arrived home yesterday - big thank you to all for a brilliant day - If you only go on one trip during your holiday we would recommend this one - all the drivers and guides made it a really entertaining day with stories to entrance young and old.(Paul we made it home with the herbs, wine, olives, honey and raisins still intact) Hope you guys enjoy the rest of the season - if anyone from Yorkshire is going to take this trip then ask Lee how to say dwarf. This was our first visit to Zante but it certainly wont be our last, we"ll be back!!!.
Sue, John and Chris

Vinny H  (08 August 2003)

After a pretty crammed boat trip earlier in our holiday we were a little concerned about being thrown around in a jeep for a day - we needn't have worried. The guides Malcolm and Spiros knew all the best places to visit, the best vantage points for the views and reeled off all the most interesting associated history and stories. Short cuts using the off-road tracks mean you can cover the whole of the island in one day and the open top jeeps provide a superb all round view of all the scenery that you just wouldn't get in a coach. Passing other sightseers scratching their heads whilst checking their maps reminds you all you've had to do is hold tight and enjoy the trip. Put simply, if you book one excursion during your stay in Zakynthos make sure it's Zakfari !

Genevieve C  (08 August 2003)

Hi, just wanted to say thanks we had a fantastic day as "Malcolm's Shoppers". Malcolm was a brillant guide and the open back jeep was great fun. When the two youngest children finally come to - we're still wondering how they slept through the off road driving - they absolutely loved it and wanted to do it again the following day. I must say you were true to your words, we certainly did have the pool to yourselves when we returned home as we all smelt from swimming in the stinking sea!!!

Once again many thanks for a brillant day.

ps. the rug looks fantastic now its home and laid out on the floor and all those bottles of wine and oil survived the journed home!!!

Les,ruth&sam N  (05 August 2003)

Red Hair day, the zakfari was amazing and fun especially Malcolm and our great guide, by the way Sam's red hair bleached in the sun and went a very becoming pale pink!!!!
thanks for a great time.

L S  (05 August 2003)

I stayed out in Zante for about 3months and I had the best time, I use to work for a holiday Company called Olympic Holidays,(THEY ARE THE BEST)..They use Zakfari for one of there days out and the amount of customers I use to see that kept saying to me what a fantastic day out was amazing,
The guys on the Jeeps were amazing and funny and Paul Smith (OWNER)Lee and all the others I have forgotten are excellent at there jobs, Zakfari is the only company that have open top jeeps, so your not stuck in a small hot jeep with no air con all day. The guys will take you to all the best places and you will have an excellent time, you see the great views of Ship wreck and you get to swim in the caves on smelly beach,
But dont take my word for it you will have to see for your self.

All my love x

Suzi W  (04 August 2003)

Lost Caver Day - What a FANTASTIC trip. Excellent day out. Real value for money (!!!!)
Thanks for making it a great day Spiro's, Lee and Sariah.
Paul, cheers for putting that comment on my photo!!

Hugs & Kisses

Love to hear from you thanks, I still recommend your tour to everyone I meet.

Michelle S  (02 August 2003)

lost caver day ......... what a brillant days entertainment!! had the best day ever on the zakfari trip. the day was named after my other half for nearly drowning and giving lee a heart attack thinking that he had come across something big and black in the water!! wayne says a big sorry to lee but still doesnt know to this day where the cave was! thanks again all of you for the fantastic day and saria she was the best guide yet!!!!! you wont regret this day if you go

Robert W  (01 August 2003)

Lost Caver Day - Just to let you know that we all enjoyed the day. We would really recommend this trip to anyone (although comfort poor as expected but topped off by driver being an ex-bus driver!!!! not mentioning any names LEE!) Thanks for a really great day Robert, Amy, Lee, Lee, Daniel, Matty, Sarah and Adele.

Ciara   (01 August 2003)

Thanks!! Looking forward to it!

Rimmer   (31 July 2003)

Ciara - Yes you can. Levante is the agent for Cosmos Holidays on Zakynthos, and they have allocated seats every Monday.

See you soon

Laura K  (31 July 2003)

Ciara   (31 July 2003)

Hello! Just a quick query is it possible to book Zakfari with Levante Travel Agents in Argassi?

Philip B  (30 July 2003)

We were on the "Skippy day". I had read the comments on here about the Zakfari before, when visiting Zante in previous years. This year I decided to try it out for myself. It was a great day out. I have 2 teenage kids and they loved it too.

Karen R  (30 July 2003)

winos was our code, we had a great time and would reccomend it to anyone, our driver spiros was the best and sharon really glad to hear that gavins legs are better

Clive M  (29 July 2003)

We go on many trips when on holiday and most of them are very interesting. This day out was also interesting but more than that it was GREAT FUN. Thanks to Malcolm (our driver)who has a wealth of knowledge about the island to go with his enthusiasm - a great bloke. If you only make one accompanied excursion on Zante make it this one otherwise there will be so many parts of the island that you will never see. Don't forget to wear sensible shoes as there are occasions when you will get out of the jeep to see some of the most sensational views ever. Our day was entitled Lifeguard day

Very H  (29 July 2003)

My mum and me went on "Who is Carol" day. It was the highlight of our trip. Poor paul had a sore throat :'( but that didnt stop him telling wierd tales. Totally true of course!!!! You wouldnt have been able to see the beautiful views in any other way. I definately recommend it and any "moody" teenagers will love this trip. And buyin ice creams last minute on the last stop BIG MISTAKE! The drivers were sponatiously funny and didnt seem like bored tour guides like most do, they look like they thoroughly enjoyed themselves, but i would if i had their jobs. There is sooo much more to say because it was sooo good but i dont want to spoil it for you. Three words, GO GO GO!!

Eddie R  (28 July 2003)

Hi....The code day was 'Loopy Lee'!....We have just arrived back in the UK and thought we should make everyone aware that that the Zakfari is well worth doing, you get to see all of the island, many places that coaches and cars wouldn't be able to make it to, the drivers are excellent, a big thanks to Lee, great driving and you are a definate born entertainer!...and also thanks to our guide!

When you come to visit the island make the Jeep Safari one of your first trips...

Aimee (28 July 2003)

thanks to all who said its great for kids, we will
certainly be going

Sharyn B  (27 July 2003)

Gavin and I were on the "Winos" day - Seria and Spyros were great. We both thoroughly enjoyed our trip and hope to return to Zante next year. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling too great during the morning (too much sun the day before) but felt better by the afternoon despite the off-road driving. Gavin's legs and feet really improved the next day after his paddling in the smelly water. Thanks to everyone involved with the trip, we would definately recommend it as a great way of getting round the island. Cheers!

Rimmer   (25 July 2003)

Aimee - Zakfari is great for kids of all ages, as there is plenty of variety throughout the day.
Hope to see you soon

Mark H  (24 July 2003)

We took our two boys last year (12 and 9 at the time) and they loved it. Specially the off road driving.

Sally G  (23 July 2003)

"POMPY PAINS DAY" - What a day out! Even though I wasn't well, I still really enjoyed it, the second time round! Lee your a fantastic driver and great entertainer - especially your own little stories about goats!!! Thanks again for a fanatastic day out! recommended it anyone and everyone - value for money. Hope to see you around when we return in October!

Aimee (23 July 2003)

staying in Arassi in about 3 weeks time, just wanted to know if anybody has taken their kids along with them? did they enjoy it? thanks

Aimee   (23 July 2003)

is this any good for teenage kids 13- 15? has anybody taken their children along? thanks

Donna M  (23 July 2003)

Whos Carol Day

Just got back from Zante on Monday went on jeep safari it was excellent had a really good day alot of fun and definaly worth the money all the drivers were really friendly and told you loads about the island.

Andy D  (22 July 2003)

BELGIUM DAY...THIS IS A WORTH WHILE AND FANTASTIC DAY OUT I WOULD RECOMEND IT TO ANYONE.MALCOLM WAS A BRILLIANT GUIDE AND DRIVER HE MADE IT A DAY TO REMEMBER.ALL THE BEST FOR THIS SEASON AND YEARS TO COME

Mark H  (22 July 2003)

Rimmer - Got back from Zante yesterday and while wew were there we went to see the wine man in Anafonitria and I thought I should write to ask you to say thanks to him and to say thanks to you for introducing us to him.

We mentioned we had been there before with you last year and when we bought a number of lace items and rugs he knocked 5 euros of each item and then when we bought some wine and honey he gave us a number of free bottles of both and threw in a few bags of herbs.

Thanks

Bec H  (21 July 2003)

Excellent day out,it was really good fun!You had a laugh with the drivers and Malcom told us absolutely everything about the isalnd. The best part about zakfari is seeing the shipwreck but you've got to see it to believe it!
Its definately worth the money so go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lesley D  (18 July 2003)

Well I probably can't say anything different to anyone else but it was a really great day out - Malcolm was very informative and funny, great stories and genuinely knew Zante - didn't just go on what he had been told. Lee (Pork Pie) and Spyros were great too. The shipwreck view is breathtaking and even better than postcards. (My pictures aren't unfortunately as I had the camera on the wrong setting - so I will just have to do the trip again when I go back in September). If you don't do any other trip in Zante make sure you do this one.

Paul H  (12 July 2003)

The jeep safafi is without doubt the best trip I have ever had on holiday. Malcolm, our driver, was good fun and kept us thouroughly entertained all day. If you do one trip on Zante, this is a must.
Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and take plenty of water with you .
(Madman)

Norman R  (11 July 2003)

"SILLY HAT DAY" This is a must! if you do one trip when you go to zante make it this one. we did a few and this was the best trip and the best day of the holiday. You'll see more of the island and learn more of the history in this trip than you ever will on your own. Saria the guide is great and the two drivers will keep you entertained all day. Everybody is in a great mood you will have fun all day. Buy a few bottles of the wine cos when you come home you'll want more. try to go in the cave at the sulphur beach, its freezing, its stinking but its well worth it. shout out to spiros and hope he didn't melt during the heatwave.

Sinbad   (10 July 2003)

all blokes should do this trip....tour guide saria - 2 words... u would!

Marie G  (09 July 2003)

If you only do one excursion when you visit the island of Zante - make it this one and do it early in your vacation. Its great for getting your bearings and seeing the beautiful island. The guides we had were all UK ExPats who love their new home - and they want to share their knowledge and love of the island with you.
The wine you can buy still tasts good when you get it home and I will always remember swimming in the stinky sulphur sea! Thanks Zakfari from a visitor on your SULPHURETTES day!

Aimee W  (07 July 2003)

!!pompey pains day!! gr8 day out, all da family agreed it was the best day of the holiday. my mum is c*min agen, an she is gonna go on da zakfari.da cave was freezin in da swim stop, but its cool inside! lee was a well gd driver, an really funny! paul, ure gr8 at tellin stories 2! wel, ne1 wonderin wether 2 go on dis or not, then do, coz it will really make ure holiday! :p

Keith A  (07 July 2003)

I was interested in what Amy Gilbert (july 01 2003) had to say about buying an ice cream at the last stop and getting in a mess with it. GOOD TIP FOLLOWS. If you buy your driver/guide one as well, he drives much more carefully. Trust me, I,ve witnessed it.

Ciara   (07 July 2003)

Thanks Rimmer!! We are actually travelling from Ireland with Budget Travel - I will book with Tsilivi travel as suggested - Thanks again!! Ciara

Trudy S  (05 July 2003)

We had a brilliant day on the jeep safari with Malcolm and Lee. Who were entertaining with lots of local information and stories on the places we visted even though we couldn't see the horses in the caves!!! If you decide on one trip on your holiday this is a must - good value at 50 euros. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes and take plently of water. We saw more on this trip than we did on the around the island boat trip - well recommended.

Rimmer   (03 July 2003)

Ciara - If you are on holiday with Thomas Cook, Cosmos, Olympic, Libra, Amathus, or Argo then you will be able to book through your rep. If not then contact Tsilivi Travel (info at top of this page) to book before you go, or when in resort.
Hope to see you very soon

Ciara (02 July 2003)

Hello!! We are travelling to Zante in 4 weeks time (Can't wait) Staying in Argassi - Really interested in going on the Zakfari - I would be grateful if anyone could let me know where I can book this trip in Argassi! Thanks

Amy G  (01 July 2003)

AMY'S BUM DAY! I had a fantastic time on the Zakfari jeep tour even if I did get stung on the bum by a rather large wasp that was nesting inside my shorts! It was brilliant value and I will be doing it all over again in September when I go back to Tsilivi- I am gate crashing friends honeymoon!!! Paul, Lee and Malcolm were brilliant tour guides and very amusing. Just one tip - DON'T buy an ice cream at the last stop off point and try and eat it on the return journey home, you'll end up covered in it!!! Paul I'm back in the UK now doing my wonderful job but my boss will be with you on July 27th. Thanks again Guys.

Keith A  (30 June 2003)

WE WOULD JUST LIKE TO THANK PAUL AND THE ZAKFARI TEAM ON HOBBLE FOOT DAY (WEDNESDAY)FOR A FANTASTIC TOUR OF THE ISLAND. WE VISITED A LOT OF PLACES THAT ARE NOT REALLY ACCESSABLE BY ORDINARY VEHICLES AND PAULS KNOWLEDGE OF THE ISLAND AFTER LIVING THERE FOR TWELVE YEARS WAS VERY EXTENSIVE. WE WERE TOLD SOME LOCAL STORIES ABOUT EACH AREA WE VISITED, SOME TRUE, SOME PROBABLY NOT SO TRUE, BUT ALL VERY ENTERTAINING. BY THE WAY PAUL, WE WENT TO THE SHIPWRECK & FOUND THE AXLE & BONNET. THE SAFARI LASTED ALL DAY, IT WAS EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE FOR A LAND ROVER. IN OUR OPINION IT WAS THE BEST VALUE FOR MONEY TRIP OF OUR HOLIDAY.
THANKS TEAM.

Kelly J  (30 June 2003)

AMY'S BUM DAY!!!! Kelly R (27 June 2003)

Me and a group of friends are going to Laganas in May04. Just wondered is the jeep safari good and is it expensive at all??

Tracey L  (26 June 2003)

"The hobbling guide day". If you visit Zante, Zakfari is a must. It is good value for money and it is a truly fun day out. Paul was an excellent guide and was full of interesting and funny (and sometimes true) stories. I would recommend this trip to anyone as you get to see parts of Zante that you would never have known existed. Thank you Paul (and the gang) for a fantastic day.

Sarah P  (26 June 2003)

Just to say thanks to all the Zakfari team for an excellent day! I've never had so much fun getting dusty, dirty and smelly! The best way to see such a beautiful Island, would recommend it to anyone.

Carole J  (19 June 2003)

Reba E  (17 June 2003)

Thank you Paul (and gang) for a fantastic trip and a Birthday to remember. Very informative, very funny (Paul you should either be on stage or The Fast Show - "Lets off road!")

Jane S  (01 May 2003)

Hi Rimmer, thanks for getting back. Is the trip an all-day one? What time is pick up/drop off and how much is it? Sorry for all the questions!

Rimmer   (25 April 2003)

John / Jane - tours are due to start on 15th May this season, however if you contact Frances at Tsilivi Travel, i may be able to get you on a pre season tour that week.
In any case, contact Frances to book at any time throughout the season.

Bob   (25 April 2003)

Try info@zakfari.com for direct e-mail or to book via an agent contact Frances on the link at the top of this page.

Jane S  (25 April 2003)

Hi, I like the sound of this jeep safari. We are coming out to Tsilivi from 8-15th May. I noticed you said you would be staring up again in mid-May - are we too early? If not, we are coming out with Cosmos - is it easier to book through rep or any way of booking direct. If you could post a reply that would be great!

John Q (23 April 2003)

Can i book direct with the company, if so, what is the no or the e-mail address? If not who is best to book through?

Bob   (22 April 2003)

Good luck for the new season Paul (Rimmer).
Hope the Land Rovers beat the rainstorms over the Alps on the way down this year.
Bob

Rimmer   (21 March 2003)

Mark - Contact Frances at the end of April to book. I will be on Zak first week in April to finalise days with tour companies etc snd also with Frances. See you in May

Mark H  (20 March 2003)

Thanks Rimmer,

we have booked a flight only this year and so won't be tied to a travel company. Does this affect anything, or do we just contact Frances nearer the time.

Rimmer   (20 March 2003)

Mark - Village you need is called 'Anafonitria' and shop is 50 yds past tree in middle of road.

Zakfari will be running from mid May this year and will go on every day. Which days are allocated to which tour companies i am not sure yet but will know this after first week in April. 'Discount' ?!?? Not sure what this word means!!!!!

Mark H  (19 March 2003)

Rimmer - On the Zakfari 'JMC Reps Day' trip last year we stopped off to sample some bottles of wine and ended up buying a few. When we are in Zante again this summer we would not mind picking up a few more when we have our hire car. What is the name of the village?.

Also, when do you start booking the Zakfari, what day of the week will the trips be and how much will it be?, Do those of us who went last year get a discount!!!!

Rimmer   (13 February 2003)

Lisa - Zakfari are operating again on Zakynthos this summer, and should be available as a bookable excursion through First Choice as per last year.
Thanks for your mail and i look forward to seeing you this summer.

ps. Am on Zak now and although there is snow on neighbouring Kefalonia, it is bright and sunny here....roll on the summer!!!!

Lisa C (10 February 2003)

Visiting Zante in May this year (last visited in Aug 2001 and loved Zakfari) will the Zakfari be up and running then? Going with First Choice will I be able to book with them again or is there another way of booking?

Rimmer   (12 January 2003)

Lozzzerrr - no plans for Corfu this summer, but in future plans still.

Simon - I will warn all islanders of your impending arrival, and await with baited breath!!!!!

Simon P  (10 January 2003)

Hi Paul.

The headlines will scream at you....
"Mad,Loud-Mouthed Canadian set to return to Zakynthos in september!"

See you on another Zakfari then!!

Loz H (09 January 2003)

Rimmer - we are going to Corfu this year - do you run safaris there?

Lozzzer

Marie C  (08 January 2003)

Before we came on our honeymoon I visited this website to see what excursions to take and this was no 1 then. It was the first trip we booked and it was excellent. I would definately recommend it to anyone who was visiting Zante. You get to see places on the island you would never know about and visit yourself. Our driver told us many stories about Zante as we passed through many of the villages and the guide gave an excellent tour. Absoulotely worth every penny.

Robert T  (29 December 2002)

Visited in August and just wanted to say that we both really enjoyed zakfari.Recommended the trip to friends of mine who were going a week later.Wishing you all a happy new year.

Rimmer   (06 December 2002)

Hello everybody. Thanks to everyone involved with Zakfari this summer, the staff, the tour companies and reps, the agents, and most of all, the guests who came on the tour this year.

Due to expansion next year we have opportunities for drivers to work from next summer on Zakynthos. If you have a clean PSV licence (D or D1), are sociable, good humoured, and can work in a team, then mail me at info@zakfari.com for further details. If you think you are perfect for the tour, but do not have the proper professional PSV licence, then tell me why you would be suitable in a brief mail, and we can sponsor your PSV test for you!
See you all next year

Paul Smith

Rimmer   (04 November 2002)

Olly - Hi. Mail me direct at info@zakfari.com for info about drivers next year. You must have a PSV licence to work for me though!

Alex C  (03 November 2002)

2nd lost bucket day and special bucket day all rolled into one! This excursion is probably the best thing to do on the island. I got to see everything that I wanted and Paul really knew his stuff. We made a few friends from the day and came back feeling like we'd just spent the best 50 ever. Thanks Paul & co!

Nia M  (03 November 2002)

2nd lost bucket day (or special bucket day if you were in paul's jeep after we bought him a new and rather snazzy bucket!)Brilliant - probably the best day of my holiday...

Olly H  (02 November 2002)

Hi Paul, sadly we didn't make the trip whilst over in Oct., much to my partners disappointment, but he did recomend it to everyone we came in to contact with, and very highly to. We are hoping to move to Zante next year and he wondered if you needed any drivers for the 2003 season? We'd love to hear from you

Debbi M  (22 October 2002)

2nd Lost Bucket Day!! I didn't know what to expect from the Zakfari, but I've got to admit that was the best 50 euros I have ever spent. Our driver was Antonis, he may not have spoken any english but he certainly understood our screaming at his NUTTY driving. Don't get me wrong, this wasn't F1 but in terms of speed I reckon our driver was Schumi in disguise!!! Paul was an excellent guide and a very funny story teller :-) If you visit Zante, Zakfari is a MUST.

Stacey M  (22 October 2002)

Bakery day trip. This trip was absolutely fantastic, although nearly rained off! The sites visited were great as was the history behind them (which i will leave to those with a great imagination, you need one!!) Cant fault the tour guide seria ( i think)who was great and knew what she was on about. I would recommend this trip to anyone as you get to see parts of Zante that you would never have known existed! My fave part of the trip was the cave (cant remember the name) with all the wax carvings in, i found this quite interesting. The driver we had was great but if you get the older driver ( Adonis) then look out as he is crazy! I think his moto is 'full speed ahead!' Going back to Zante next year hopefully and this is the first trip i will book. P.S Wonder if thre new ship wreck is there, be good to find out!!!

Ian F  (22 October 2002)

Wasp bite day. Thoroughly enjoyed the day though a certain little girl wil remember it for two wasp bites. Keep up the good standard Paul and hope your drive home to the UK has gone well

Clare D  (21 October 2002)

our tour name was 'spiro's lost bucket',if the bucket is found pleaz pleaz pleaz dont let spiros get his hands on it cuz he will probably loose it 4 day before the end of the season (again) and when visiting the 12(11) wells "on the sly" drink the water in the 1st well and then YOU might be able to see the 3 horses, E.T,the elephant and the giant around the caves !!! pauls jokes light'n' the mood and break the ice. oh ye and watch out if your in spiro's jeep he will drive you over the edge literally!!! and when you stop off for lunch stay in the 'barbecue hut' and warm up (my mum's tip)!!!!

Clare D  (21 October 2002)

i LOVED the jeep safari paul was really funny and a great tour guied i would recommend this day trip to any tourist

Simon P  (20 October 2002)

So,today was "Tough Topless Totty" day! Yep us real men got our shirts off and displayed our manly bodies to the world (Tee Hee!) Had a great time,Paul was a great guide, very knowledgable and a fantastic sense of humour..and even came to my aid when I was stung by a manic, psychotic Bee! (It died soon after it clashed with my foot!) Was great travelling with you all today....Better luck next time Daniel and Alex hee hee! Would definitly go on a Zakfari next year.

Peter O  (16 October 2002)

We were on "Teetotal Scottish Person Day" although surely there's no such thing. Paul our guide was a great laugh and full of interesting and funny (and sometimes true) stories. Our driver Maurice Gibb was also great. It's a brilliant day out and you get to see the whole island. If you only do one thing in Zante, this trip is a MUST!

Daniel L  (15 October 2002)

Me and my girlfriend was on the tour called lost sunglasses. How tour guide was Paul. We had an excellent time and the sights was very beautiful. The stories at times was very iffy but made it allthe more enjoyable. Even the nuttiest drive in zante (donis I think his name was) didn't putus off. Would recommend the zakfari to all. Ping hat man.

Kirsty M  (14 October 2002)

Me and my friend Sue, were on "Bat cave day!" (prompted by Sue's unexpected close encounters with the fury little fella). It was by far the best day of our holiday and definantly deserves 11/10! Paul was a fantastic guide and made the whole day all the more interesting with his great little stories which Sue and I completely believed. Must have been all those drugs in the water ... Thumbs up!

Buell M  (14 October 2002)

We were on the "Bakery day" in Antonis's Jeep. A good tour, although nearly called off due to rain, it soon cleared up. Antonis's driving impression of Carlos Saintz made a couple of the women feel a bit fragile, (to the point they had to change jeeps!), but the fact the jeep had no major damage was proof that he was really OK.....I think!{br} Locations visited were great, and the history lesson from the guide, (sorry, don't remember her name but I'll never forget that ar5e!), was comprehensive and informative.{br} The lunch stop was a bit expensive, but I suppose those sort of trips are their main souce of income.{br} All in all, a great day out and if you only do one excurcion in Zakynthos, make sure it's this one.

Carol S  (14 October 2002)

Bat Cave Day - What an experience! A brilliant day out. Got to see all the best places, with loads of information about the island, all made more interesting by Paul's humourous delivery. Thanks for a great day.

Gill P  (13 October 2002)

Wax limb(don't ask!!)day. The guides,Sarea and James(we think) were BRILLIANT and really made sure that we had a great time FANTASTIC.Make sure you do this trip - if no other. Can't praise the guides enough, they made a brilliant trip even more fun.

Sue H  (13 October 2002)

We went on "The honeymooners have disappeared day" on Tuesday 1 October. It was a great day out, not sure if all Paul's stories are true but I believed them anyway! Got to see horses, elephants and a penguin and our driver was Maurice Gibb (or James).

Fiona M  (12 October 2002)

We went on the zakfari in October 2001 and it was absolutely amazing! They took us to places we didnt even dream about going to, or even imagine finding. the sights were stunning and each came with its very own humourous story like the 12 wells!! If you ever visit Zante this is a never to be missed experience as it is great value for money and it is a great way to to see the landmarks of the island - without having to drive!!

Simon W  (10 October 2002)

Absolute must do on your visit. You'll see bits that you would otherwise have missed or not understood their importance/value. Good way of keeping cool on a hot day! Paul is barking mad but a great entertainer (we were on loud Archie day) and manages to make you smile all the time, even if he is talking complete cobblers most of the time. Best day of the holiday. The other guys especially Spiros are equally good value.

Gemma   (07 October 2002)

Our day was - Gobby women day! I was one of the Gobby women, actually there were several. Zakfari was probably one of the best days of my holiday. Spiros, our driver was really cool as was the the other driver, who I cant remember his name but he looked like the guy from the beegee's. Best bits were the wine tasting and the sulpher springs. Especially watching Paul( our guide) doing a belly flop into the sea.I think paul had been smoking the wacky baccy judging by the amount of stuff he saw in the caves. Warning - if u get travel sick, dont go! Especially with spiros driving!

Rebecca C  (06 October 2002)

"Spiros Starter Motor Day" What a fab day out, certainly not for the faint hearted!! Paul's Stories are great and will keep you interested! The view's at Smugglers Cove are fantastic, but made my Knee's wobble! Make sure you try the Wine, guaranteed not to give you a hangover!! Thanks for a great end to our Holiday from Richard & Rebecca (Sheffield)

Simon M  (04 October 2002)

'Dawns 3rd wind' - Absolutley superb day! Really cannot praise the team enough, it's so hard to pick out the best part of the day. It was windy and over cast but that in no way dampened spirits or spoilt the veiws! I can see why dawn keeps coming back! The commentry was very funny and informative, and you also got to hear the 'truth' behind the local myths! I've just sent my application off to become an orthodox priest, so once I've finished my training can I bless your jeeps Paul!?!?! Even my wife who doesn't really like walking...or heights loved it! Keep up the hard work look forward to seeing you again soon.

Annette J  (04 October 2002)

Excellent trip, Paul was a fantastic guide. Very funny/knowledgeable as well as Interesting. Not what you expect usually and a really good surprise, Paul made the tour along with his stooge! Tour name was Windy something!!

Kerry S  (04 October 2002)

Paul was brill! Had a great day (I think it was called Wet day, or something!)Thanks for everything. Good luck, Paul!

Chloe,owen,jacquie A  (04 October 2002)

Just wanted to say that the Zakfari was excellent. Such a good laugh especially Paul who was our guide for the day. He told excellent stories some which were true! Do not know where the others came from. Got some brilliant photos of the cave u can see Et, the Horse and all the other stone look alikes. Hopefully we ll come back next year and if we do you can gurantee we will come on the Zakfari again. Lots of the love the Jones's!

Andy R  (03 October 2002)

eating in doors day what a great day out, you see everything that is worth seeing on the island in one day. Paul the guide was excellent, very funny and very informative, a must if you want a great day out with the best tour guide on the island

Jonni D  (03 October 2002)

MELANIE PIGGY BACK DAY: This was our first Jeep Safari & were so glad we picked Zakfari after seeing the enclosed "other brand" safari vehicles! On top of that, our host/driver Paul made it an excellent day out, it was like off road Jackanory! The comedy was flowing thick, fast & corny, but hilarious nonetheless. The best day of the holiday with a bit of eye candy thrown in for good measure! (No disrespect intended, Paul!) Highly recomended & Paul has great stamina if you need any groceries carrying up a steep cliff! :-). Thanks for a great day...with thanks, from number 53!

Henry S  (02 October 2002)

Snowy Mountain Day - good day out spoilt a bit by the rain during and just before lunchtime. Adonis was our driver - the guy is completely nuts! Beat Paul and Spiros to the lunch taverna by a good ten minutes, and in the rain too - my girlfriend (camera girl) was begging me to get us into another truck. Not a trip for the faint-hearted or those with joint-problems!

Dawn   (01 October 2002)

DAWN'S 3RD WIND.... It was a great day despite the severe winds. Paul - you were wonderful as always! This was my 3rd time on Zakfari - will next year be the 4th? Probably!! I can't recommend the outing highly enough, its a must for everyone!

Rimmer   (01 October 2002)

Charles - Daredevil stuntwomen Gladys was alive and well after her fall. She received some personal attention from Antonis a couple of evenings after the tour aswell!!!

Jeanette C  (01 October 2002)

DAWNS THIRD WIND. Fantastic day out, very funny and loved every minute. One of the very best trips I have done on ANY holiday. Paul is a star and had us all in stitches. I'll definitely be booking this next year before I do anything else.

Chantal B  (01 October 2002)

The best day out by far was the Zakfari-Jeep Safari ("Melanie's Piggyback Day"). Our guide and driver was Paul whose knowlege of the island was excellent, whose ability to tell tall tales will no doubt become legendary and whose sense of humour made it a very memorable and enjoyable day. Thanks for a great day out Paul and keep up the exfoliating!

Judy L  (01 October 2002)

(Gladys and ardonis day.)An excellent day out, Paul was great telling the stories made the whole trip exciting, advice to all wear comfy shoes as sandals would make it tedious, we were the couple who got engaged. Hope Gladdys is alright. Judy and Charlie

Charles O (30 September 2002)

Want to know if Gladys is alright after her fall Regards

David H  (28 September 2002)

WE HAVE JUST BEEN ON THE ZAKFARI AND HAVE ENJOYED IT SO MUCH.PAUL OUR TOUR GUIDE WAS EXCELLENT AND WE ALL HAD SO MUCH FUN. WE DEFINATLEY WILL BOOK IT AGAIN NEXT TIME WE ARE IN ZANTE.OUR PARTICULAR TOUR WAS MELANIES PIGGY BACK DAY.I'M THE ONE WITH THE DOG BITES.....DAVID,DEBORAH,DAVID,ANNE

Karen G  (28 September 2002)

Weak Bladders Day!! If ou only do one trip on your hols it MUST be this one! What an excellent day out made all the better by Paul our brilliant guide - his knowledge of the island and its many stories makes this day one to remeber. Visiting the whole island in one day was by far the best way to see everything, ruined house, cheese mountains, turtle island, kaki raki, local artists, ouzo wells, and of course the ship wreck. Word to the wise - take money for lunch, trainers (ship wreck is down hill on loose ground) water and swimming stuff(all stuff our brilliant rep forgot to mention!). Thank again guys for agreat day out - its all we could talk about for the rest of out hols and I can't wait to get the pictures developed. xxx

Tel .  (26 September 2002)

An excellent day out. Paul has some good stories to tell and there is something for everyone. Bring some decent footwear as getting to the shipwreck was awkward with sandals on.

Jack B  (25 September 2002)

Next to visiting Olympia, was the best excursion for me. Luis made the day, driving an orange Toyota jeep that could climb walls. Went on every dirt track on the island and visited loads of interesting places: monastery, village selling crafts and wines, top of shipwreck bay, cliff top restaurant, small cove, highest hill with the best view you could find, etc.

Laurence P  (25 September 2002)

This is a must for anyone who wants to see Zakynthos but make sure you use Zakfari. We were on the CELEBRITY LOOKALIKE DAY in August and it was brilliant.Paul the guide was first class with his knowledge and stories,(only half of them true) The oof road driving was great,James our driver was good but at times seemed a miserable, but apart from that I would recomend this trip anytime.A word of warning,be sure to take plenty of water, swimming gear and wear good walking shoes. Once again Paul thanks.

Pam B  (24 September 2002)

(Gladys and ardonis day.)The jeep safari day was the best on the holliday. My mum who was gladys and my 2 children anthony and danielle loved it! Paul the tour guide was great and really funny. Cant wait to get our photos back of some of the best views of the island.......thanks paul. XXXX

Phil M  (24 September 2002)

OFF YOUR NUTS DAY. Zakfari is a great day out, interesting, fun and a good laugh. If you are visiting Zant then Zakfari is a must!!!! You get to see the most breath taking views, and the off-road driving is better than any roller coaster. Paul's stories are very entertaining. Paul, if you read this, cheers for a superb day, just wanted to ask, "does Adonis fancy himself as a bit of a Stunt Driver?" Got the photos back of the caves where you can see the horses, ET, The Giants brother etc.........Nah, still can't see them. Good photo with Smugglers Cove in the background - thanks to your photographic skills. Thanks again, really enjoyed it!!!!! Moby,

Loz H  (24 September 2002)

Another from teetotal Scottish day, which was fantastic. We rode with James and had a really mad drive at times. Loved the stories - dirty den, giant, horse and shipwreck although we never saw the bald penguins !! The final swim was amazing - never swum in water which went from hot to cold !! Loved the view from the mountain top - loved the whole day. YOU MUST DO THIS TRIP !!!

Cindi P  (23 September 2002)

(ARGO REPS DAY ALSO ARDONIS AND BERYL'S DAY ) I have been on this safari twice, once July and again Sept and had a brilliant time on both occasions. It is fantastic fun, you get to see most of the island and learn a bit about it(NOT BORING) and have a great laugh.Well worth doing.

Jo L  (23 September 2002)

Teetotal Scottish day-This was by and far the best excursion we have ever been on. Paul's tales were fascinating and very entertaining. Spiros was totally hilarious. If you don't do anything else during your visit to Zakynthos you MUST take this excursion. Be warned though expect a bumpy ride!!! Oh and make sure you wear suitable footwear as not all reps will tell you this.

Charles O  (23 September 2002)

Antonis and Glady's day, I would recomend that you go on the Zakfari trip it was fab worth the money, and the Tour Guide (Paul) funniest rep made it more exciting it was just cool. We will definately do it again if we come back to the Island

Adam S  (23 September 2002)

(SANDRA'S MOONIE) HAD AN EXCELLENT DAY, WORTH EVERY PENNY, WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE, WOULD GO AGAIN DEFINATELY. WHAT MORE CAN YOU ADD TO PERFECTION?? I KNOW A FREE HOLIDAY!!

Ross T  (18 September 2002)

Hello, Ross from Carnoustie here from "James's fan-belt day". The trip was absolutely fantastic!! Paul was our driver and he is brilliant, he really gets to know everyone on the jeep!! All his stories and jokes teach you about the island's history but still make you laugh!! I still smell a bit though after the swimming stop and Gavin's ass is still a bit sore after cannonballing from the ledge Paul climbed to!! If you're going to Zante soon make sure you do the safari, you see the whole island in one day and get to know all the history!! Best part of the holiday!!!

Dawn M  (17 September 2002)

I was determined to go on this trip from the day we booked our holiday and I wasn't disappointed. We were on the Becks went home day and unfortunately I was the mother of Becks. Even though Becks and dad missed the afternoon Paul made a lasting impression with the giant story. If Jackanory ever comes back Paul I'm sure theres a job for you. Thanks for a great day out. Just one word of advice though Paul stick to Zakfari and leave the weather forecasting to the experts......I can't forget your parting words...have a great holiday the weather should be like this for the next week. Never mind loved Zante and will be back sometime

Christine W  (17 September 2002)

We loved it I took my 15year old son on this as his dad had decided to bike round the island(more fool him) and my son says the best bits are when you are bounced out of your seatonto the floor almost. a word of advice though wear good shoes fit for walking as the walk to get the best view of smugglers wreck is a bit of a treck over rough ground but the view is well worth that extra effort. password 'hatless' driver spiros v.good

Marie C  (16 September 2002)

had a great time with the white nuckle rides anna and i thought it one of the best of many great times this was the day of jim's fan belt needing a replacement. thank you for one of our best holidays.

Alan H  (16 September 2002)

Robs Birthday. A fantastic end to our holiday. As everyone else appears to say - the ride was bumpy - but what do you expect on a safari? When James, the driver, finally passes his driving test the trip won't be half as mush fun! Sadly I missed our guides name, but she was incredibly pretty and had the sexiest bum on the island!Apart from that her knowledge of Zante's history was outstanding, and she made everthing appear interesting. If anyone's interested, my wife got the stains out of my new t-shirt, when we got home..

Jude E  (14 September 2002)

We booked the jeep safari through direct holidays and it was the best day of our holiday by far!!!!!! Our rep warned us about wearng supported bras and boy was she right. Our driver gave us the choice of going slow medium fast super fast or I wanna die and we all voted for I wanna die!!! Our driver Alan went so fast we all changed seats about 6 times on the trip luckily the ceiing to the jeep was cushioned as we hit our heads a number of time!!!!We spent the entire day laughing and got an excellent view of the whole island. It was the greatest and we would recommend that anyone going to Zante goes on this trip!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andy W  (14 September 2002)

Zakfari Jeep Safari was hyped to be the best trip to go on by our rep and he was right. My mate and I decided to do it at the end of our trip to the Island and thought the day was great. Only two minor flaws (I think these are more personal one's but I'll let ye know anyway?). 1, Ben and I had hired a car earlier on in the holiday and done all but two of the stop offs. This made it a little less enjoyable. That said Paul's stories and general info brought a new edge to the stop offs (I still want to know what you were smoking when you found E.T and the elephant Paul!). 2, the other people on the tour, probably just the day we went on but come on people inject a bit of life into yourselves! Ben and I were totally exhusted and hungover from the night before and were raring to go! All in all a blinding day that I would recommend to anyone going to the island! Yours Sincerely, John Hannah

Em N  (11 September 2002)

(JELLY FISH SUNDAY) ey up paul! we were the 5 stayin at admirals from stoke!just wanted to say we loved the trip especially the thunder and lightening at the highest point of the island!!That devils throat cave was mingin!but the sulphur spring definately did wonders for our hair!!exfoliation also went down a treat aswell!James was a crazy driver and we were bouncing out of our seats at the back of the jeep!wicked!off road driving definately the best!smugglers cove was amazing it was like paradise, the water was that clear and blue!hopefully be visiting again in the future to taste the wonders of the ouzo well!Thanx 4 an unforgetable day (we have most of it on video camera)p.s our older sister alissa wants ure number!thanx 4 entertaining us all day!ure such a funny guy!xxx

Stu M  (11 September 2002)

Now thats what what I call a great day out! We went on " The Honeymooners from a Laganas Hotel I can't recall day ".

Ryan M  (10 September 2002)

Fu**in Brilliant!

Rimmer   (10 September 2002)

Colin- Again sorry for the delay. You will be able to book through either JMC, Cosmos,or First Choice at the Captains Hotel, if not then contact Tsilivi Travel on the number below. Bye!

Rimmer   (10 September 2002)

Lisa - hi, sorry about delay in relying, but i'm having trouble accessing this site from Greece! You should be able to book with JMC as we arent booked up in advance as much now. Any problems then give a call to Tsilivi Travel on 0695044194 who will be able to sort you out. See you soon

Katie O  (09 September 2002)

After reading about Zakfari on this site, I couldn't wait to go myself. Me and my family went on 2 September (the day when Paul had 2 kids sat next to him in his jeep) and although the rain was chasing us all day and it wasn't very hot, we all had a fantastic day. Paul's stories are great and Spiros was an excellent driver. I loved the ouzo well!! Don't be surprised if you see us again sometime! Love Katie and Rim.

Ian & Cristina  (09 September 2002)

"Shut Up Sam Day". We had the pleasure of Paul driving us that day and we had a ball. We also had "Sam" in our jeep and he didn't talk that much - mind you he did have the front seat. It was nice to get to know everyone on the jeep - Paul did well in remembering everyones' names. Well recommended way to see the island and get some nice photos - the 'sulpher springs' swim was very welcome after the dusty ride.

Vicky P  (09 September 2002)

Folowing on from the general gist of the rest of the messages! This was by far the best day of our holiday - 'Choppy sea day at the sulphur caves' (or something like that!) Paul - you were born to be an entertainer, your stories (true or not) were hilarious and very interesting! We loved the off-road ride and James, our driver, kept us on track with facts about the island. An absolute must if you go to Zante for a holiday!

Tracey L  (08 September 2002)

hi paul Re: Shut up Sam! It was the best day out that we had on the holiday your knowledge of the island was amazing and you made everything FUNNY, it made the day fly by. We recommended to any one within ear shot to take this trip. We are Tracey Peter and Jessica in Adonis'jeep

Fran H  (08 September 2002)

Wow what fun this was....... Our driver saw no fear, so be prepared for a fast and bumpy run, and hold on tight :-) My kids loved it (aged 16 & 10) and all you could hear was them laughing as the jeep threw its passengers around. The trip was slight spoil by the weather, it came to rain in the afternoon, and boy did it rain. This meant the trip had to be finished a tad early as it became impossible to drive. However the organisers treated us all to a drink or two in a road side cafe whilst we waited for the rain to stop. Well worth doing this trip if you like a hair raising experience.

Sue P  (08 September 2002)

"Last day of August Day", Top day out, really enjoyed smelling like swamp rats for the rest of the holiday!!! Got some good video footage(family and non family, hur hur hur nudge nudge wink wink!!!) and excellent photo's, really enjoyed the trip, it made the thunderstorms either side of it bearable!!! Enchanting storytelling from Paul,oh and we saw a f**king big wasp as well. Cheers for one of the best days of our holiday. Love Sue(thin accountant bird) and Phil(matey with the camera)!!!

Colin C (05 September 2002)

im staying in the captains in argassi for two weeks from 12/9/02. how can i book this trip? it sounds great and i dont want to miss it do i have to go somewhere else out of argassi to book?

Elise   (05 September 2002)

Thanks a lot for an excellent trip Paul,it was the best day by far. We went on 'St.Dennis's day' I'm the girl who got stung on my ear by a wasp on the way back in the jeep and my friend fell over on the walk to smugglers cove and was limping for the rest of the holiday!! Thanks for not embarrasing us too much about Jon and Darren! I can't spot the horses on my photo of the cave! Hope to see you again xxx

Kevin T  (05 September 2002)

Hi Paul Jeep Safari on last day of August was brilliant. All six of us enjoyed ourselves immensely. The places visited and your stories(real and made up)were extremely interesting. Many thnks for the best day of our holiday. Keep up the good work. Kevin(David Seamen), Denise, Suzy, Jacqui, Marcus, Karla

Amanda C  (05 September 2002)

Hi Paul - We were on Zakfari on "Becks Went Home Day" - Had one of the best days of our holiday, your stories were fab! All of the trip was mega! mega! mega! Your team work really hard and are a credit to you. Recommend this trip as a MUST! The horses, elephant and ET were fascinating!!!!! It's a shame our son missed the "lions and tigers and bears"!!!!!!!!! (He must have blinked.)

Matt N  (04 September 2002)

It really is as good as everyone says! Five of us went on 19th Aug and were thoroughly impressed in all respects. The Landrovers are surprisingly comfortable, although do expect to get thrown around a bit on the off-road sections. Sit at the back of the landrover if you want to get dusty! All of the drivers are a good laugh, especially Andreas. A brilliant day out - the highlight of the holiday!

Laura S  (04 September 2002)

Mine was the comment below, got a bit over excited and missed this part out!

Laura S  (04 September 2002)

This was the best trip we had by far! The jeeps fit 8 people in, our driver was called Jason who turned up late but he made up for it as he and the driver of the other jeep Andreas took us round the whole of the island showing us some excellent views mixed with the best off road experience,we had lots of fun and would definitely do this again. A tip is to wear very old clothes and trainers u will get very dirty. not the best trip for young children. We didn't book thru the rep but through Flocas travel nxt to the Astoria hotel, the staff were excellent, can't praise this trip enough!

Stephen S  (04 September 2002)

Went on the trip 20 August and it was the best day of the holiday. Paul is very knowledgeable and a very good story teller. He is also a charmer, my 6 year old daughter Jennifer handed over all her sweets to him! Just ensure you wear comfy shoes as there is a fair bit of walking involved. Don't miss this great day out.

Geoff M  (03 September 2002)

We have just got home from our holiday in zante. We went on the zakfari on a wednessday and it was one of the best days we had there. Paul was our driver and he was very good and got us all talking about our selfs. the day was called ( followed buy a mad man). Natalie is the one who paul is taking sking with him next year. we think that if you want a good day out you should go on the zakfari its an exellent day out.

Malcolm A  (03 September 2002)

A most enjoyable day out. Paul entertained all day with his knowledge and wit. Shut up Sam day

Andy W  (02 September 2002)

Went on st-denis-day, Paul certainly knows his stuff. Would highly recommend this trip! James our driver also was very knowledgeable about the isle giving us info as we drove about. Also wear trainers NOT sandals as my girlfriend did and she had sore feet at the end of the day. All in all a very entataining day. This is the best trip I have ever been on

Lisa (02 September 2002)

I'm a bit worried about not being able to get a seat on this trip as some comments have suggested that Zakfari is fully booked for ages! Can anyone shed any light on this, coz I'm really looking forward to going on it but I'll be well disappointed if I go on holiday to Argassi in a weeks time and then find out that I can't go on it! Am I worrying over nothing? Also if I can book it when I'm away am I gonna get knocked by JMC with the price? Thanks for any advice in advnace!

Robert P  (02 September 2002)

Great day out We went on "petrol switch day". This is definately the best way to look around the island. The LandRovers are more comfortable than you might imagine. You do have to hold on when the route goes off road but thats only to be expected. Paul kept us entertained for the whole trip with his stories. Try to do Zakfari before you hire a car as you may want to return to some of the more accesable places later. Agreat day out for all ages. Mr and Mrs 007

Julie H  (01 September 2002)

What a day 26.8.2002 a Bank Holiday with a difference! Half of the people in our Jeep had returned for a second year so we knew we were in for a great day. Cannot quite remember our day's name 'Something to do with a footballer and Man United'?? We had the pleasure of travelling with a lovely family, Joe was the son who finally woke up when we went off road! His mum was a real talent with her first aid kit in tow for when my son got eaten by a cat at lunch! She was also a keen wine expert and came away with many a free bottle after kissing the young man at the wine tasting. Thanks to the Zakfari team. Keep up the good work.

Jean C  (31 August 2002)

We went on Zakfari on Tues Aug 13th SIX BUSES AT THE SHIPWRECK DAY. Had a great time. The whole trip was very interesting from beginning to end. Paul is a great guide. He was very entertaining and had a great sense of humour. Forget the boat trips just book the Zakfari. Great value for money and you get to see parts of the island not accessible by coach. Paul, James and Adonis were the guides. We were on Paul's Landrover. Jean, the hospital telephonist and Brian the (Bog) Bathroom suite maker, with the teenage sons (Ryan and Chris)who had been out clubbing the night before and couldn't keep awake. Nothing to do with the trip, just too much partying and not enough sleep. Thanks Paul, James and Adonis for a great day out, would recommend it to all.

Claire   (31 August 2002)

I went in 28/08 and I loved it! The ride was very bumpy off path but that's expected. I enjoyed the whole tour and I particularly enjoyed the swim stop. The Jeep Safari was definitely the highlight of my holiday.

Geoff S  (31 August 2002)

A brillant day. Made interesting by Pauls stories re the island. Also loved the offroad driving even though it at times took courage to look out of the front! A unique and fun way to see Zante, well worth the money,our six year old loved it. {Slipknot day, parents of female Michael Owen}

Helen S  (30 August 2002)

Hi paul, We visited on slipknot day, in fact we are the parents of slipknot!! just wanted to say the day was brill, had a wonderful time, Andrea's driving was some what amazing, especially off-road. We saw so much of the island, more than any coach trip could offer.

Rimmer   (30 August 2002)

Joanne - the 'jeeps' seat 13 people each, and the price is 50 euros for adults with kids under 12 half price. The tour goes every day and leaves Tsilivi at 8.45am and returns between 5 and 5.30 pm. You can prebook with Tsilivi Travel, or book in resort through your rep if you are coming here with JMC, First Choice, Cosmos, Olympic, Golden Sun, or Argo. See you soon

Joanne (29 August 2002)

after reading the cooments on this site we are thinking of booking this trip,we are going to tsilivi in 2 weeks.first a few questions please.will a jeep cater for 4 adults and 4 kids or will we need seperate vehicles?how much is it? whens the best day to go?what time does it start and finish?and can i book it in the resort?also any more info thanks love joanne

Diane B  (25 August 2002)

A day we wont forget in a hurry. Read into that what you will!!! Just joking, we had a fantastic day out, we visited some really interesting places and were fed some even more interesting stories by Paul the tour guide (You wee brilliant Paul). Thanks to our driver Andreas we all came back feeling really lucky to be alive and therefore appreciated the remainder of our holiday even more!! My advice to anyone thinking of booking this trip would be 'just do it, but take a travel tablet first, and if Andreas is driving your jeep, write your will just in case!!'.

Caroline F  (24 August 2002)

BUSES AT THE WRECK DAY. Hi Everyone. This trip is a must. The only way to visit the sites on the island. Better than stuffy old coaches. Paul the guide is great. His local knowledge and humourous stories really make the trip. The drivers are excellent. Our kids loved the off-road bits the best. All I can say is "Watch out for that tree!" Also, by the way Paul, thank you very much. Thanks to your information, I am now a single parent of 2 daughters since my husband has now left me to return to Zakynthos and become a priest!!!! You have to have been on the trips to know about this!!! Wished I had taken a photo of the cave with the horse in it now. Would like to have searched for some of the other characters!!! It was a shame we couldnt visit the Sulphur Springs but visited the Cave Monastry instead. It was fascinating!!! Thank you once again to Paul, James and Adonis for a fabulous day out of our holiday. The photos are fantastic and especially the one viewing at the Shipwreck which you took of the 4 of us Paul. It is now in a frame on our lounge wall!!!!

Roderick J  (23 August 2002)

We were on the Buses at the Wreck day, (the Luton Town FC fans). I knew when I booked that this would be the highlight of our holiday, and we weren't disappointed. Paul's a skilled and charismatic guide, and the locations visited were well chosen, so that we were tempted to re-visit some of them later in the holiday in our hire-car. The only down-side was that it was a squeeze to get 12 in the back, even with some of them being children, but that didn't spoil our enjoyment. Thanks to all at Zakfari, hope to be back sometime.

Kirsty & Len  (23 August 2002)

The best trip we have been on!!!! Saria was great even though it was her first day - Taxi Day - for those who were there. The locations were breathtaking and the off roading was brilliant. Len still has his cap he won and wears it with pride. Thanks for the excellent photo-taking skills of Saria they have come out brilliantly!!!!

Hashim J  (22 August 2002)

Superb way to see Zante, Paul was absolutely brilliant and made the trip really enjoyable for us with his ropey stories of Zante History. Highly recommend the trip, you will have a great time out. For those at Zakfari it was Tiffanys day!!.. well almost!

Lucy&mitch   (22 August 2002)

Hi we had a brilliant time it was the highlight of our holiday. Paul was absolutly brilliant and made the trip really enjoyable for us. we were on olympic saturday(i think)and paul when you go visit ally in downly next can you bring us back some olive oil. Thanks Paul for such a brilliant time we will be back next year for sure.

Katie B  (22 August 2002)

Me and my boyfriend, John, were on the Kilmarnock FC day on what was the the hottest day of the year so far, at the beginning of July. It was a really good day and well worth thr price. The guide was excellent, the driver was mad - especially off road - but that was all part of the experience! Would recommend this to everyone going to Zante, and hello to everyone who was on the trip with us!

Louisa C  (21 August 2002)

A brilliant day enjoyed by all three of us, even more enjoyable was when the jeep broke down and we were stranded in the baking heat for a good five mins! Paul was excellent as our guide around the island and a good laugh in our jeep too. Excellent value for money and a day not to be missed!

Phil W  (21 August 2002)

I was on Lewis Trumpet Day, with my wife and 8yr old daughter. The day was fab, and well worth the time and money. Paul our driver made the day fun and informative and I would recommend it to everyone, young or old as there is something for all to enjoy. It Might be worth doing the trip near the beginning of the holiday as you learn a lot about the island and Greek life.

Amy B  (21 August 2002)

Brilliant. Guides give you local knowledge about places and you have a much better day than sitting in a coach. Don't worry of your holiday rep says it booked up for two weeks already - try a local travel agent as we did and we got on a trip. (For those at Zakfari it was Mowf day!! around the 11th Aug)

Lewis S  (21 August 2002)

hiya everyone i was on LEWIS'S TRUMPET DAY it was fantastic the places we saw were excellent and our driver Paul was so funny and very well informed about all the places we visited i would recomend this trip to anyone its was by far one of the most enjoyable days of my holiday

Richard C  (20 August 2002)

SIX COACHES AT SMUGGLERS WRECK DAY - Having experienced coach and boat excursions before, I was dubious about this one. But, a brilliant full day , entertaining, informative and fun. The land rovers are safe (my youngest is 4 and managed to sleep off road) and well driven. I'd highly recommend this trip. Don't go on a coach when you can get where they can't and with the wind in your hair. Be warned , we heard of a lot of people on a waiting list for this one. Pre book if you can. Ex BT on Paul's wagon

Mick R  (20 August 2002)

Just back form Tsilivi ...took the Zakfari on 'The day of the six buses @ the wreck'. Paul our driver\guide was quite funny and informative. We offroaded a bit also for some scenic island views and a visit to the 12 wells(even though there's only 11). It's a good way to see the most of the island in 1 day. We were disappointed that we didn't get to take a swim that day even tough the sea was quite calm, and especially after 5 hours in the jeep you'll need it

Adam H  (20 August 2002)

Martin! Glad to hear Kay is ok! Sat next to you on the Jeep.. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your hol.

Adam H  (20 August 2002)

Sorry!! Excellent all round

Adam H  (20 August 2002)

I was on the two blind mice tour with my son.. Was a great day and enough respect to the two blind people for making it around the whole tour! Off road bit of the tour was great and the Sulphur spring made me look 10 years younger..Paul I will tell Paul Whiteing "Suits You!"

Amanda R  (17 August 2002)

Jessies Day! What can i say ...Fantastic day out - thanks!

Martin U  (16 August 2002)

We were on the 2 Blind Mice tour and had a blast. Jim our driver was brill and told us all sorts of things about the island as we carreered around it, some times with all 4 wheels on the road too. Paul told us more stuff when we made all the little stops, and showed us a hidden Zante. This is a not to be missed trip. Paul, drop me an email if you need a fully qualified (licenced) driver for next season eh? No, Not me, a mate of mine. Best thing about the trip is everything, the worst bit was the sulfur springs, which we thought were over rated and I have to credit our blind tourists, mate you both have balls. Good on yer. Kay says thanks for being so kind and she's now 100%

Fanos K  (16 August 2002)

me and my girlfriend janella had the best day of our holiday on the zakfari trip, driver was excellent (if not a little scary at times going right to the edge of the clifs) the guide was superb, learnt loads about the island and i even got the p**s taken out of me for being greek cypriot...all good fun. definitely the best trip you will do in zakynthos!!!!

Monette C  (15 August 2002)

Hi Paul, 'HATTERS TOUR' Just wanted to thank you for a fantastic day -despite the fact that you deprived me of my lunch! To anyone who hasn't been and is thinking about it - go! This really is an action-packed experience not to be missed, the off-road jeep ride is really good, the drivers are nice with good local knowledge and you get a little stop off in lots of interesting places. We particularly liked the sulphur caves - although be prepared - they are a tad chilly!! And the view over smugglers cove is breathtaking - so don't forget your cameras and swimwear, also wear sensible shoes for the walk. The wine, honey and olive oil is very tasty, so stock up! Paul is a brilliant guide - full of life and very entertaining, although beware, he may steal your sandwhich! Thanks again, from the girl with the massive sandwich!

Angela N  (14 August 2002)

"Choppy Sea Day" went on Zakfari on 7.8.02 and had an absolutely excellent time. I was in the front seat of the Barry Gibb's lookalike jeep and we gave the dogs water at the smugglers cove stop! I have been on Jeep Safari in other countries and this was by far the best. Did'nt see any horses around the cave though!Paul did an excellent job with his stories and i even believed some of them (especially the one about the ouzo well!) Definately worth the 50 euros or whatever i paid. Thankyou for the excellent day and i will be back!!!!!!!!!!

Viv K  (14 August 2002)

We had a really great day. Paul was a great driver. The views of the island makes this a must do day out. The trip in the open topped landrover makes it all the more exciting. Viv & John.

Jamie P  (14 August 2002)

(The Windy Morning) me and my girlfriend had a great time on this trip despite nearly being blown off the cliff! we were in the greek blokes jeep. Really worth doing, great site seeing and excellent stories. hope gilbert the turtle is doing well!

Chris&gael   (14 August 2002)

Went on this on the 1st august2002.Had a top day out really enjoyed it,a must if you go to Zante.

Lo S  (13 August 2002)

"Choppy Day!!!!" We went on Zakfari on the last day of our holiday, and it was a great way to end our time in Zante. Thankyou Paul for all the interesting stories, especially the one about the well!! I am waiting for the holiday photos to come back so I can check out the horses. E.T. was good though. We had a brilliant time on the Jeep even though I couldnt look when you turned round on top of the high point!! I will have two lasting memories from our holiday to Zante... the earthquakes and the Jeep Safari. Thanks again :o) Lorraine, Emma and Kayleigh

Fiona W  (13 August 2002)

Zakfari was the highlight of our holiday. It was the guide's first day on the job but she was brilliant and very knowledgeable about the island and the places that we visited (remember the taxi ride, private joke!). Spiros our driver was amazing, he was very friendly and had a lovely sense of humour. The best bit was the off road ride up to the view point, Spiros's driving made the day and he was given a suitable round of applause at the top of the mountain. The tour was action packed visiting the best view points on the island and many other interesting sites and the jeep was wicked (my son's words!) We even had time for a swim in the afternoon and stopped for lunch at a lovely taverna. The mousakka, chicken and slouvaki were all beautiful. Thanks to everyone for an absolutely fabulous day and especially to Spiros and the guide (unfortunately I can't remember her name!!)

Mark P  (10 August 2002)

"Three Flats Day" Started the day disillusioned thanks to our JMC reps misleading the family from the initial brief. (Do not book with JMC) Enough of the negativity ! Once on board we was treated to a magical mystery tour all round the Island. The stories / local knowledge that Paul (organiser) knew was quite astonishing and to coin his phrase while being at some of the highest points of Zante was " like looking down on a model of Zante" The views included mainland Greece, Kefalonia, St Dennis's monastery and the ship wreck known as smugglers cove along with the beautiful sea views all around the Island while driving. While in the village wine tasting do buy some goodies as the wine / olive is excellent value for money at a mere 2 Euros This was definitely the highlight of our holiday. Thank You Paul Mark & family (LR)

Alex L  (08 August 2002)

"Michelle's book day". Great day. Drivers are knowledgable - Paul is very funny. It is one of those days that you will not forget soon. Do this trip instead of the boat trips. AND STAY AWAY FROM THE EDGE...! AHHHHHhhhhhhhhh.......

Laura K  (07 August 2002)

Have to say it was the highlight of our holiday!! If we come back to Zakynthos we'll definitly do Zakfari again!! Laura (Barca shirt girl) & Matt

Peter K  (07 August 2002)

hatters day Paul we forgot to ask if you got your trousers back from the beach . Again we'd like to thank you for a great day out.the lot from Luton

Rimmer   (06 August 2002)

Derek - Unfortunately this is high season, and we are full a long way in advance. Try calling Frances at Tsilivi Travel on 0695044194 for late availability seats. If you get this today, then there may be seats available on thursday 8th, or 15th, but only confirmed the evening before the trip. Sorry you can't get a confirmed seat with Jmc, but we are very popular at this time of year!!!

Jenny B  (06 August 2002)

Forgot to say, Paul (aka Rimmer), all day I couldnt think who you reminded me of, of course it was Arnold Rimmer from Red Dwarf, keep it up.

Jenny B  (06 August 2002)

Windy Day Tour, Thurs 25 July 2002. What a great day out, Spiros our driver was great babysat for me when my child didnt want to walk to the viewpoint for Smugglers cove, Paul well what can I say about him, stories, imagination, kept eveyone well entertained, great trip, well worth the money,Hwy Paul, certainly felt the tremor on Sunday 28th, !!!!! Landrover hat lady.

Derek D  (05 August 2002)

Arrived in Zante yesterday ( Sunday) for 14 days with JMC. I was told by the rep today there are no places on the tour until the 19th August, by which time we will be home. Very Dissapointed. Peter McCallum

Mark R  (05 August 2002)

"WINDY MORNING" Or "Vomiting at the 12 Wells" Excellent trip- definately the most fun day out on Zante, but the boat trips are worth doing for the swim stop at Smuggler's Cove. Great day out, even with a hangover. Good luck at the TT Spiros! (please flush your bog roll down the toilet in the Isle of Man) Tattooed Mark, and Looks-like-someone Ella

Rimmer   (02 August 2002)

Hello everyoe. Thanks for your comments on the tour so far, they are much appreciated. A special mention to anyone on the 3 flats day. You had to put up with a lot of irregularities that day, with flat tyres galore, and no shows in the morning. You were a great bunch of people, and came through it all smiling, which helped me immensely. Thanks for your good humour, and i hope you all enjoyed thr day.

Lisa P  (02 August 2002)

Its Kathy not Kelly day!!! The day the JMC rep proved that the rep's never drink!!! A really fantastic day on safari...would be worth doing at the start of the holiday but thankfully due to the adverse weather conditions we did it at the end....when Paul's legends become believable.

Michelle T  (02 August 2002)

FLAT BATTERY DAY This excursion is highly recommended we really enjoyed it and Paul and Spiros were really good too! If the weather is good which it will be the day will be fantastic

Jo P  (01 August 2002)

Mechelle's book day - What a fabulous day, great fun, very informative and the best way to see the Island. Just want to warn you about Paul's dodgy stories though, you have been warned!!

Sam S  (31 July 2002)

SNIFFING SAGE FLAVOURED MARAJUANA/SPIROS PULLS- absolutely fantstic trip. Do it and do it early.

Kay S  (31 July 2002)

We had a great day! Definately the best trip we went on - dont miss it !! we were on the 'Rainy morning' trip - but the torrential rain just made it more fun!!! Paul, thanks for a fantastic, very amusing tour of the island, it was good to see places that the bog standard boat trip doesnt show you (and hear all the myths and legends!!) still wanting to see those penguins!

Danny S  (29 July 2002)

Well, what can I say that everyone else has'nt, We were on the 'rainy day' (in Spiros's jeep, best driver, full of short cuts, sorry paul)!! And we still thought it was the best tour we have & are likely to go on! ah... Exaggerated you might say, well... Put together an ex rep with 10 years + local knowledge of the island, a great sense of humour, great story telling(you'll find out when you take the tour),BIG Landies, good food, wine tasteing, a flat tyre, bald penguins!! and more, all add up to one great day.Five Star. If you only do one thing in Zakynthos make sure its the Zakfari

Jon & Kay  (29 July 2002)

Paul - what an amusing guy! Do this trip ASAP - they cover most of the island and give a great idea where to re-visit! They have a wealth of local knowlege and what they don't know - Paul will usually make up on the spot! We had a great day.

Deby B  (26 July 2002)

Paul, what a fabulous day - FIRST DUTCH. Certainly the best trip we did in the two weeks on the island and I have definately enjoyed drinking the wine purchased that day. Paul knows his stuff although his imagination has definately got the best of him - especially when describing legends and shaes of rocks near caves mmmmmmmmmmm me thinks the ouzo well still flows freely! Or maybe it is just those didgy Luton genes comming out. Definately recommend this trip to everyone.

Gemma A  (26 July 2002)

This trip enables you to see most of the island that you wouldn't normally be able to get to. Paul our guide was excellent (telling us tales about the ouzo well!) and kept us entertained all day despite getting two flat tires! I would recommend this trip to anyone coming to zante. Be prepared to get dusty and dirty but its worth it for the swimming stop with the sulphur springs. A good day out.

Peter K  (24 July 2002)

paul what a great day out HATTERS TOUR bet you didn't expect to be reminded of Luton . seriously we all enjoyed ourselves ,not too sure about the stories though.Lisa was dissapointed she didn't see the bald penguins.Anyone reading this dont miss out on a great day out there is only one ZAKFARI .

Glenn K  (22 July 2002)

dont miss this, absolutely brilliant, thanks paul, james and spiros.can't remember the special name for the day except it was the day the first choice reps came (06/07/02). paul dont lose your imagination ! et my a**e.

Rhonda W  (22 July 2002)

Hi ! Our new rep John told us this was GREAT my Mum and I weren't so sure but I tell u know it was absoloutly fantastic! It was the best trip I have ever been on in the eleven years of my life. To any of you who haven't been I reeally think u should. we vist nearlly the whole ISLAND ! It is fantastic. The drivers are fab and make it even funner by going up really dusty dirt tracks !! the guide comes out with many interesting fact and very silly voices. TRUST ME HE IS MAD !! but anyway I would put a complaint but I have been searching high and low for one but I cant find ANY !! It was a great day out !! Thanks Paul (our day was the Hatters day ) We were on the Jeep with the girl that cut her Foot clumsy ay !! TA TA BYE

Claire P  (22 July 2002)

We found this really fun. The drivers were a bit mad but that's good isn't it? The guide was really funny and very informative. He sounded like he really knew what he was talking about. The places we saw were really pretty and interesting I think the free wine pleased most people!!!! See, you have do it FREE BOOZE!!! So do it it's well worth it! From Claire Palmer, Pauline Palmer, Lauren Palmer and Stewart Challis. remember us Kilmarnurk FC (i think thats how you spell it!)16/7/02 with the women from Motherwell!

Shaun S  (21 July 2002)

RAMBOS RETURN - One of the most fun trips we've been on. Guide (Paul) really makes the day, Don't go on the boats, you will see far more on this trip, however you will probably feel just as sick!

Sharon C  (20 July 2002)

brill day out.we went on marialisa day.saw plenty of the island, went to good restaurant for lunch.paul apparantely you know my friend helen davies, you used to rep together.booked this through tsilivi travel, much better and cheaper than the opposition.

Amy P  (19 July 2002)

'First Dutch day' Just return from Zante last nite. Zakfari is a great day out and a great way 2 visit the island + u given lots of interesting info and storys given by r guide Paul. oh and Paul if your if offer still stands (tee-hee) i would love 2 return 2 zante. lilmissastar@aol.com

Chris B  (18 July 2002)

We have recently returned from our holiday in Zante and I can honestly say the Zakfari was definitely one of the highlights. We booked the Zakfari through Ken at Tsilivi travel and as there were 10 in our group even managed to get a discount. For a small island Zante has a lot of history and Paul the tour guide presented it in such a funny and entertaining way you almost forgot you were learning something!

Sarah W  (18 July 2002)

We went on Zakfari on Argo rep day too and absolutely loved it. Paul was a thoroughly entertaining and not unattractive (!) guide, the trip takes you to some of the loveliest parts of the island (even if like us you had been mobile already) and the story telling sets the island in context which if you stay anchored in Tsilivi (or any other resort on the island for that matter) you miss. I can't recommend this trip highly enough, if you are thinking about going, stop hesitating and book now! For the record Paul, Chris still hasn't proposed - thanks for the assistance though!

Rimmer   (17 July 2002)

Loz - If you are coming here with either JMC, Cosmos, First Choice, Olympic, Argo, Solos, Golden Sun or Durect Greece, then you book when you get here. Otherwise you can prebook with Frances at Tsilivi Travel who has some allocated seats every week. Address at top of page. See you soon

Mark L  (17 July 2002)

This was the day we named the Argo rep day!!! I presume cos all Argo reps were there!! Was a great day out Paul (the guide) was funny and even made some of the wild myth's almost believable, I mean giants on giant horse's, I had the pleasure of taking my 12 nephew on the day with our driver Maurice from the bee gee's we saw almost the whole island and would do it all again tomorrow if it wasnt the fact that I am now back in England!! I also for the record Paul look nothing like Alec Stewart although I do play cricket!! lol

Ralph H  (17 July 2002)

Absolutely superb day out. Learnt a lot about zante and had a good laugh. It was worth it just for the ouzo well story! Paul was a top guide and a special mention to our driver Spiros who always got us to the meet points first! Took the trip on the 12th July so just wanted to add a hi to all those there with me.

Mark H  (17 July 2002)

We booked up in advance to ensure a seat. When we got there, our travel company, Kosmar did not have the trip listed and I did not see if advertised in Alykanas so we would have been stuck otherwise. Suggest you book in advance by emailing Frances at Tsilivi travel and then ring her withyour card details when she replies. Must say, it was a great day out. My youngest (age 9) enjoyed the wine tasting, he had had seven small glasses before we noticed him helping himself. The off road driving is the best part!.

Loz H (16 July 2002)

I am coming to Zante (Argassi) with 3 more adults for one week starting on September 6th. Do we need to book Zakfari in advance? or can we book up once we have arrived.

Mark M  (16 July 2002)

This is a great day out if your looking for a little exitement, other than that enjoyed in the bars and clubs of Laganas. The off road parts of the day are great fun with stops at some of the best viewing points on the island. The sulphur spring was very inetersting; wine ,honey and raisen tasting refreshing (bought some back with us), and the shipwrech viewing point breathtaking. Paul (Rimmer) is a good laugh, very knowledgable about the island and obviously happy in his work.(Even though he comes fom luton and shops in Milton Keynes!). What can I say, this trip is suitable for all ages, there is a little walking involved but not more than 100 meters at a time. This is a must do trip, if you go to Zante; miss this one and you really have missed out. Special thanks to Spiros, our driver of the British made landrover 4 x 4. Be careful of those German girls Spiros, they don't shave their arm pits!

Rimmer   (12 July 2002)

Shab - Sorry forgot this! Price is 50 euros per person, and half price for kids 12 and under, till the end of the season.

Rimmer   (12 July 2002)

For Shab and everyone else - We are available through JMC, First Choice, Cosmos, Olympic, Golden Sun, Argo, Solos, Direct Greece, Island World, and Apollo. If you are not with these companies, then you can book through Tsilivi Travel (info at top of this page) who have a limited number of allocated seats on Saturdays. Tsilivi Travel are on 06950 44194 and are English speaking. All tickets should write 'Zakfari' on them and you will be picked up only by 'Zakfari' vehicles. Hope to see you all soon

Shab   (11 July 2002)

I am staying in the plaza 1+2 (Laganas)in September where can we book this trip and how much is it?

Elizabeth R  (10 July 2002)

JUST GOT BACK FROM 2 GREAT WEEKS IN ZANTE, THE HIGHLIGHT OF WHICH WAS THE JEEP SAFARI. IT IS EXCELLENT AND YOU SEE THE ISLAND IN ALL IT'S GLORY SOME OF THE VIEWS ARE TOTALLY STUNNING AND WE COULD NEVER HAVE SEEN PARTS OF THE ISLAND IT IF WE HADN'T GONE ON THE SAFARI. WE WILL DEFINATELY DO THIS EXCURSION AGAIN.

Andy S  (08 July 2002)

Just had 2 weeks in Kalamaki, went on the Zakrari on our first Sunday there, wish we had gone again before we came home, absolutely brilliant day, full of information & fun, Paul (can see why they call you Rimmer!! cos we did) James & Spiros very friendly to everyone, would recommend this trip, but don't drink from the Oozo well!! Hope to see you all again, Keep up the good work. Rea & Andy (Grimsby)

Wendy G  (07 July 2002)

Paul,James and Spiros made sure everyone had a fab day out, would definitely reccomend this trip and would do it again if we return to Zakynthos

Rimmer   (04 July 2002)

Annie - Either way is fine. 5 year olds do enjoy the day as we are off the jeep every 20-30 mins, or you can stay at behind and the two girls can come on there own. Look forward to seeing you soon

Annie G (04 July 2002)

We are a family of 5 coming to zante 19 July. Is this trip the thing to do with a five year old? Or could his two sisters 15 & 18 do this without us? Thanks

Rimmer   (30 June 2002)

Kat - Glad you had a good day out in the end, and i'm sorry you couldn't come on the Zakfari as planned. It does however concern me that you were told we are 'uninsured or something'. Bobs comment below sums up the situation quite well. But i would add that all vehicles insured in Greece must display their valid insurance in the window (square piece of paper) and have a road tax disc aswell. In addition to this all safari vehicles must display their operators licence disc in the window. All ours are clearly on display, and i would hope the other companies are aswell! It is worth checking as you say. Could you please tell me who told you we had no insurance, so i can make sure the mistake does not happen again. Thanks. Paul Smith - Zakfari

Bob   (29 June 2002)

Kat, I'm afraid you were conned. Zakfari is fully insured, its drivers hold professional minibus operator licences, its vehicles fully comply with British and European safety regulations (hence the expensive and purpose designed roll cages on their annually MoT'd Land Rovers) and the company is fully registered for tax purposes in Greece. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of some of the competition. Regretably, one of the British tour operators seems to be more interested in making a quick buck than on checking the credentials of companies that it uses. Bob : Land Rover Monthly Magazine.

Kat   (29 June 2002)

We went to Zakynthos with every intention of going on the 'Zakfari', but they weren't insured or something, so we went on the the jeep safari organised by our reps, which cost 33Euros. We had an absolutely fabulous time with Alan and Lewis (babe!) our guides. Girls, the taverna in Limnionas bay - check out the lads who run the place (brothers?). I didn't know if my palpitations were from the heat or the view! Jeep safaris are definitely recommended, but check their insurance.

Rimmer   (28 June 2002)

Mark - We go almost everywhere! Laganas, Keri, Agalas, Kiliomenos, Louha, Gyri, Anafonitria, Navagio, Xygia, and then back home! hope this helps you plan your route a little better!

Mark H (28 June 2002)

We fly to Zante on Sun 30th - have hired a car from the Friday 5th to Monday 8th and have booked Zakfari via Frances for the following Wednesday (10th July). If you read this before Sunday, could you let me know roughly the route you go during the trip and places you visit as we will then be able to plan to go and see different places while we have the car. Thanks.

Rimmer   (26 June 2002)

Dionysia - I ailed you a few weeks ago about this. I have been a few times in the past to your shop, and it is a nice place to visit, but unfortuneately therer is no room on the tour for it at the moment. However, if i change the route and stops in the future, then i will definately think about including you in the tour. thanks for your interest, and hope to see you soon.

Dionysia A  (25 June 2002)

Just a question to Rimmer. I am the owner of ADAMIEION Ceramic Workshop & Showroom in Marineika near Tsilivi. I think it would be a nice idea to pass from my studio and see my creations. Also, my website address is www.adamieion.com Send me an e-mail if you would like to include my workshop (where people can see the whole procces of making ceramics) in your trip. I think it is something interesting. My e-mail address is adamieion@yahoo.com

Bob   (15 June 2002)

Glad to here that you are back in business - it's amazing how although we are all supposed to be able to travel and work freely now across Europe, it still takes an ages for those like Zakfari who abide by the rules and run a legal business to cut through the red tape in Greece. My article on the overland journey from Britain down to Zak with the Zakfari vehicles at the start of the season is now in the UK shops (July issue of Land Rover Monthly). Hope to see you and the guys a little later in the season, to once again visit the parts of the island that others miss. Regards Bob : LRM

Rimmer   (14 June 2002)

Hello again everybody! At last i have got the tax numbers and books sorted out, so tours will begin on the 18th June 2002!!! All booking information can be found in the entry here dated the 3rd May 2002, below. If you have any further questions, then please mail me directly at info@zakfari.com. I'm sorry for those of you who missed out on the tour because of the late start this summer, but it was unfortunately out of my control. Hopefully i will see you soon in the future. Thanks, and have a great holiday on Zakynthos!

Ken W  (10 June 2002)

We've done the Zakfari tour on a previous visit and it was excellent. This year we went on a different one and dare I say it was even better. It was the Zakynthos Jeep Discovery which we booked through our AirTours Rep. It was a bit pricey at 56 Euros, but our driver Louis said you can book with them direct and save a packet! Although the drivers Louis and Alan are Brits, they've lived on the island for quite a while and their local knowledge is 1st class. A tip to save a bit of cash is to do either of the Jeep Safaris and save a bit by missing out on an Island coach tour. The Jeep is a zillion times better and probably more true to life stories too. PS How can you give a comfort score for a trip like this?

Rimmer   (04 June 2002)

Hello, a quick update, i should have the necessary paperwork sorted out by weds 6th June, and then it is all systems go for the summer. The tour is stil caled 'Zakfari' but the company name has now changed to 'Zafari', although the vehicles will still have Zakfari in big letters on the side of the vehicle. Hope to see you al very soon

Paul S  (23 May 2002)

Hello again! I have had to postpone the start date of the tours this year to the start of June as i'm experiencing problems setting up the business this year! It should all be sorted very soon (days rather than weeks), and i will keep you posted on here. Sorry if this means you miss out on the tour, but it is beyond my control at the moment.

Paul S  (23 May 2002)

Katie-Sam - Hello! As Bob has said you will have no problem getting on at this time of year, the price is 44 euros per person, and the trips run every day. I hope to see you soon.

Bob   (20 May 2002)

The trips start later this week (spoke to Paul earler today to confirm). It is only really in July and August that all the seats go, so you should be able to book when you get there. However, if worried about availability why don't you pre-book by e-mail from Frances at Tsilivi Travel ( akis-125@otenet.gr ) or ring her on +30 6950 44194. Bob

Katie_sam (19 May 2002)

We are staying at the Mavrias studios in Tsilivi for a week from 30 May 2002. How much does the safari cost and how often does the trip run? Will we be able to book once we arrive or will it be pretty fullup already?

Bob   (16 May 2002)

The Zakfari Land Rovers are now back on the island after their winter journey back home for servicing and MoT checks to comply with their Public Service Vehicle licence requirements. I had the pleasure of driving one of them out from the UK to Zakynthos in convoy with Paul, Spyros and Keith. The journey, particularly the leg from Luxembourg over the Alps to Rovereto, was memorable. Unfortunately, I had to fly back home today, but I'll definitely be going back later in the season. Bob : LAND ROVER MONTHLY Magazine

Paul S  (13 May 2002)

Sharon - Weather will be very warm in June, probably up to 35 c in the day, but still cool in the evenings. This Jeep Safari will be ideal for your kids.

Sharon H (08 May 2002)

We are going to Kalamaki in June with two kids 5 and 11 can any one reccommend some things to do with them? Is this Jeep Safari suitable? How hot will it be?

Rimmer   (03 May 2002)

Forgot, tours start 20th May, and will run till 20th October or thereabouts.

Rimmer   (03 May 2002)

Hello all - Here is the bookimg info for this summer. Zakfari will be available directly through JMC, First Choice, Cosmos, Argo, Direct Holidays, Golden Sun, Apollo and Solos. You can also book through our agents Tsilivi Travel (Tsilivi), Kappa Corfu (Laganas), and Flocas Travel (Alikes/Alykanas, Ammhoudi, Tsilivi, Laganas). Those of you staying in Argasi and Kalamaki can call either Kappa Corfu (0695053461) or Tsilivi Travel (0695044194) who can arrange a booking or you. If you are not with any of the above mentioned tour operators (eg, Thomson or Airtours) you can still book through a representative of one of the other companies. Once again, i have to stress, do not accept any imitations in sardine tins!!! Your ticket must say 'Zakfari' on it, and you will be picked up only by a 'Zakfari' Vehicle. Any other info can be asked for at info@zakfari.com. See you all in the summer!!!

Paul S  (29 April 2002)

Sharon - There will still be plenty to do in early October, although you are dependent on the weather at that time of year. It should still be warm during the day, but getting cooler in the evenings. The resorts will not be too busy as this is low season, but all amenities should still be open.

Sharon S (28 April 2002)

Me and him indoors are staying at the commodore appts in the beginning of Oct.This will be his 1st time abroad and I want it to be special. Is there much going on in Oct and where's the best places to check out?

Paul S  (16 April 2002)

Ray - Glad you enjoyed the tour last year! Zakfari is back on Zakynthos this summer, why give up a good thing?!!! Corfu therefore will not be happening just yet, but is still in the future somewhere.

Ray G  (14 April 2002)

We went in Sept last year, out of all the trips we took this was the most entertaining, most enjoyable and best value for money - it just HAS to be done!! I'm off to Corfu this year, Paul mentioned the possibility of doing the same thing over there ??? - any update on this

Rimmer   (28 March 2002)

Details of this years booking information have not been finalised yet, but as soon as they do, it will be posted here. Should be all confirmed by the end of April! See you all in the summer!

Fiona S  (15 March 2002)

Emma and I are going to Tsivili beginning of May 2002, where is the best place to book the Zakfari with them direct (not through Tour Company) sounds great fun would appreciate some inside advice

Andy A  (11 February 2002)

hi Rimmer can you confirm whether paul &co will be returning to zante this summer? Spent a wonderful day in oct last,Paul driving, told us of probable relocation to Corfu? thank you Andy and Molly Ashcroft

Rimmer   (09 February 2002)

Hi - Sandy Maria Apts are on the outskirts of Tsilivi, but are just a 10 min walk to the centre and 5 mins to the beach. Tsilivi has bars to suit all tastes, but try Paradise, Escape, Joker, Traffic, and Reportage, all within 10 mins of your apt.

Phil B  (09 February 2002)

Stayed in Argassi last august 2001. Had a good time, but never went on Zakfari. Where do you book to go on this , and how much does it cost please.

Louise F (27 January 2002)

Hi We're visiting Zante for the Ist time on 27th July..can't wait...we're staying at the Sandy Maria Studios...are these centrally located? Can you recommend some good bars to go to? Planning on going on the Jeep Safari..it sounds great, did plan on doing the Smugglers Cove trip too but the comments on this site aren't too promising. See u in July, Lou & Rach from Hereford

Jo   (24 October 2001)

we went on the jeep safari during our stay in september. we had one of the best times. our driver paul was very funny although he did spout off a load of crap at times ( penguins and horses mmmm???) it is well worth the money and you will see sights that you wont get to see by coach...and you will be entertained all day long.

Fiona   (20 October 2001)

Fantastic day out. The best day of our holiday. We brought back loads of fantistic memories, stories and photos. We had a great crowd in our jeep, ably driven by Colin McCray (alais Spiros). I'm so jealous of Paul - being able to have that much fun every day - what a cool job!

Hugh B  (20 October 2001)

Great fun but don't take young children ,ware good shooes as there is a lot of walking. Take lots of water,Employ at least 2 sherpers, And when the guide says "it's just a short walk!" DO NOT belive a word that he says. After you have tryed to see the Giant and his horses and when you have had your lunch ask the guide to show you the Giant having a dump !!. We had a fantastic time and the guys were great. Recomendation.......... 12/10 Have FUN.

Gemma R  (19 October 2001)

All I can say apart from the fact that this trip is a definate MUST! is look out for the horses!!!!!!! The trip was AMAZING!!!!!!

Rod   (18 October 2001)

I hear that Zakfari are always slaging of the Jeep Safari. AirTours would not be selling the tour if they were running anything illegal. Suffice to say that Glen and Louis do an excellent job. They gave us an excellent tour and treated my Bee Sting suberbly.

Kim B  (14 October 2001)

An experience not to be missed if you don't mind the dust in your hair. My boyfriend and I went on 8th October and had a truly fantastic day. Paul and co. really know how to see the sights and enjoy it at the same time. Thanks lads!!!!

Dek H  (12 October 2001)

If you want to see and hear tales of the island get yourself on this trip as it will be the highlight of your holiday. Thanks Paul & co for a great day out. My partner is still wearing the Zakfari cap she won at lunchtime on the trip.

Rimmer   (12 October 2001)

Robert - Unfortuneately, this trip is NOT Zakfari, but the 'sardine tin' imitation mentioned below. You may well have had a good day, but it may interest you to know that the owner of the 'Exotica Bar' has been fined twice by the police for running an illegal tour, and has two cases pending with the district attorney for the same offence. It is also illegal to sell tours from a bar, you can only book through a travel agent, or one of their representatives. Airtours will be quite interested to know he is undercutting them!!! As i said below, beware of imitations, check for an EU licence (Cyprus is non-EU), and vehicles registered in an EU country. Also ask why they do not display Operators Licence discs, and/or Road Fund / Circulation Tax discs or equivalent!!!

Robert H  (12 October 2001)

We booked the trip through Airtours, but the same trip can be done cheaper by going to the Exotica bar. The chap who owns this also owns the jeeps that do the trips. It was an excellent day out and they take you to places that you will not find by yourself. A swim in the blue logoon is quite something - totally exhilarating! Quite an expensive trip, but well worthwhile.

Richard G  (09 October 2001)

We went on 30 Sept and it was a laugh. With Spiros going as fast off road than on,and the second jeep covered in dust we had a great time. Went to some amazing views and sites, while Paul told some very interesting and amusing stories along the way. Would recommend this as a cheaper way to see the island than car hire. must be done,so go on do it!!!!!!!

Tasha P  (09 October 2001)

My boyfriend and I went on the Zakfari last Saturday (06/10/2001) and it was the highlight of our holiday, its just a shame that my camera decided to pack up on the first stop. The views were breathtaking, the guides were hilarious and the weather was gorgeous. Uncle Paul you are an amazing guide and made our holiday truly worthwhile. DON'T um and arh about booking this trip just go for it and I promise you will have the time of your life. p.s You may even meet Robert De Niro!!

Michael   (08 October 2001)

Thanks paul for a great day, really enjoyed the drive and the sights. Didn't think we got very smelly (thought it would be worse!). Had a small bit of trouble booking as I tried to book via my rep (first choice, Lagana) and was told that they weren't running any more, so I booked via Kappa corfu, Kalimaki Road. The Zakfari was the highlight of our holiday. BEWARE OF POOR IMMITATIONS, ZAKFARI - ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH!!!

Sandra M  (08 October 2001)

my husband and daughter went on the zakfari and raved about it telling me all the interesying things that they had seen my daughter said the guide had a brilliant knowledge of zante and its history and that he was extremely funny and that they spent most of the time laughing she also said that she wished the ouzo well had of been working i dont actually know what that was as she is still yet to tell me she did say that she would definately reccomend this trip to people who are going as you see some beautiful places that you would never see otherwise. do wear sunglasses as the dirt does fly everywhere as the greek drivers drive like there on acid but its all part of the fun ain general a good day out a great guide food and sites what more could you ask for

Phil L  (08 October 2001)

We went last Saturday (06/10/01)and had a fab time. Be sure to take sensible shoes, cossy and camera. This trip was the best part of the holiday for me, the complete highlight. The guide is so funny and knowledgable and the drivers are really professional. There were just the two Landrovers as this is the end of the season. They told me they have two more weeks then back to LUTON over a 4 day drive home. Next year, just spend your £35-40 and enjoy. You will not be dissapointed.

Rimmer   (07 October 2001)

Helen - Which tour company are you with and where are you staying? You may be able to book through your tour company rep in resort. If not, then via Flocas Travel in Tsilivi, they are in the centre of resort next to the 'Reportage' bar. The tour is great for a 5 year old! See you soon!!

Julie R  (06 October 2001)

Pauline - Have e-mailed you direct with reply, but we will probably not be swimming at that time of year, as you said. At the moment the weather is great so we are still swimming!!

Helen L (06 October 2001)

We are staying in Tsilivi from the 11.10.01. Can anyone tell me how we can book this trip from there or near by, and is it a suitable trip for a 5 year old??

Dave F  (05 October 2001)

Hi Paul and Debbie The Zakfari trip was fantastic and worth every penny. Thanks Paul and Debbie (our driver) for the day, I’ll never say a bad word against women drivers ever again, what a gal, boy can she handle a Landover. The trip was fast paced speed wise and very exhilarating with the very bumpy, dusty small roads and tracks we were sat right at the back of the Landover and felt every bump and slide great stuff, better than any white knuckle ride, Paul is a really funny guy we never stopped laughing all day he had some great stories to tell and is very knowledgeable about Zante and it’s past history. Well where did we go, Debbie picked Julie and myself up from our hotel in Alykanas, firstly we had a muster point at the oldest mansion house left standing on the island, (started growing my beard Paul) there we met up with the other two landrovers and the rest of the party, we went all over the island to places you wouldn’t know existed including the highest point of the island with brilliant views of all Zante north, south east and west, we called at another headland were we heard a story of daring Dennis, famous Zante robber and outlaw, we also visited an artists studio were we bought an original painting, unfortunately we didn’t meet the artist himself as he had a bad back and was seeing the doctor miles and miles away, he’s also a builder renovating lots of houses in the village, as he did his own studio which I believe was the old school house (hence the bad back) although we did meet his parents who were very nice. We went to shipwreck cove and to see the Zante bald penguins he-he! We didn’t stand on the viewing platform as it recommended that only two or three people are on it at the same time and crazily there was about six or seven Paul took us on a short five or six mins walk fairly easy going from where you can view the shipwreck it’s the same view you see on many of the coves pictures. We visited a taberna for dinner where we had a good hearty meal ready for the afternoon, At this point two of the lads in our jeep had to leave it was a bit to much for them as they had been drinking heavily the night before, (not recommended) all that bumping around. We went for a swim; also we went to the sulphur water with a chance to swim in the sulphur sea, and swim out to the throat cave, its great for your skin it makes it really soft. Were Paul told us yet another hilarious story. We went to the twelve wells, all I’ll say is Ha- Ha, ouzo well wish it was still full, tall guys and pasties, we went to a wine, honey, raisin, tasting roadside shop where they had lots of beautiful lace and rugs too, we bought a bottle of white wine with no additives which was very smooth and fruity (We had a Greek night of our own when we came home) not to say strong alcohol as well, not like those horrid acid locally produced wines you see, we bought some extra virgin olive oil (expensive in U.K) cheap just 2000drgm £3- 50 ish for a wine bottle size, the wine was 800drgm red or white, the honey and raisins where nice too. We visited a monastery in a cave, which was interesting with icons, an alter and other religious items and a very small sleeping area. That concluded our brilliant day out with great company; back at the hotel we had a much-needed drink, if nothing else don’t MISS this trip! It’s a must do. Visit my web site http://www.davenjulie.supanet.com/

Hezzie   (04 October 2001)

Thanks to Paul and John our driver! We had a brillient time! I wished the oozo wells were working when we visted! Thanks to Paul, I learnt some of the Greek language, which I still remember so; "f-harris-toe!" "Thank you"!! I can't wait to get my photos developed of the amazing views that we saw including smugglers cove and the caves with the hidden horse and ET as well! cool! But this was the best excursion we went on definately! We booked our excursion through our tour rep who gave us the welcome meeting at our apartments. Tip; if you sit at the back of the jeep, wear sunglasses to stop the dust and dirt getting in your eyes!

Brian R  (03 October 2001)

We've just returned from Zante and would highly recommend Zakfari to vistors. Paul has a definite knowledge of the history of the sites visited, Bull or not you will have to make your own mind up, but that what majes the day so enjoyable. Ask him about the turtle which is sitting next to the horse in the caves of whatsisname. Thanks for a greta day. Comfort!!! What do you expect from a safari, carpet slippers and pipes?

Alyson W  (03 October 2001)

This was without a doubt the best tour we did. Paul the guide was very informative and kept it interesting wiht his wit and sarcasam!! A really great day but would be better if he could get the ouzo well working again!!

Caroline H  (02 October 2001)

Thanks to all at Zakfari for a fantastic day, I would recommend it to anyone. We got great photos from the trip and even better memories. (I liked the E.T bit, and the amasing views). Thanks especially to John (our driver) and of course Paul for his amusing and informative stories.

Emma W  (30 September 2001)

This was an excellent trip. Travelling by jeep was a fun way to see the island, and we could go to different parts of the island that we could not reach by coach. Paul was an excellent guide, as he made everything enjoyable and he has a fantastic sense of humour! I would definitely recommend this outing-10/10!! Many thanks to our driver, John, and to Paul. Emma Wood, 14yrs

Angie J  (29 September 2001)

Ian C  (28 September 2001)

Hi Paul, it's Jessica. Remember me? I was the little four year old on your jeep on the 31st August with mummy and Cookie (who you recognised from somewhere!). My favourite bit of my holiday was going up that rough road to the top of the mountain where I was bouncing up and down. It was great, so was the greek wine. I have started school and told everyone about it. Mummy and Cookie say thanks for a very memorable day. Take care Love Jessica xxx

Pauline H (28 September 2001)

We are staying in the Garden of Eden Apartments in Kalamaki from October 8th for one week through Thomsons. How would we book Zakfari, after reading the other comments am I right to assume that at this time of the year there are no swimming stops?

Matt S  (27 September 2001)

We went on the safari in August and it was my second visit to the island and my second Zakfari. This time there were 4 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our trip with Paul (our driver for the day), the route and stops were nearly all different to the last time I went on the safari, and we got to see even more of the island than we did before, all in all an outstanding day out that I whole hartedly recomend to anyone visiting Zante, Hoever I would E-Mail ahead so you are guaranteed a seat as they are very busy.

Rimmer   (27 September 2001)

Will let you all know about next year when the decision is made!!! See you soon!!!

Shab (26 September 2001)

We have just come back from Zante and really wanted to go on the Zakfari but could not find where to book it in Laganas, we are going back again next year will we find you then!!

Dave J  (26 September 2001)

Hi Paul, thank you for a great day out Tuesday the 18th September, we were in the jeep with Lara Croft driving - My wife still complains that I drive too fast. I have just applied to become a Greek Minister, they said you have to have beliefs,I said I do, I believe its a good deal and I believe every word Paul said. God bless you and those expenses-they threw me out. Hope to see you when we win the free holiday or next year.

Olly H  (24 September 2001)

Hi Rimmer, thanks for prompt reply, looking forward to meeting soon.

Adrian B  (24 September 2001)

Second time on the island first time on Zakfari, what can you say about this trip,it has everything and more. The best way to see all the major sights and even better for seeing one`s you haven`t even heard of.If you gonig to do any trips do this one believe me you won`t regret it,worth every penny the swimming stop is fantastic.Don`t forget your camrea and be ready for a great off road adventure!!

Rimmer   (23 September 2001)

Olly - You will be able to book through your Unijet/first Choice rep in resort. If you have any problems, then contact us on 29680 in Zakynthos.

Sue   (22 September 2001)

Paul - thanks for a great day out, we got to see parts of the island that we couldn't have otherwise got to. I am still trying to convince the rest of the family that there are 4 horses in the cave, I think I must have been drinking out of the Ouzo well that day as I can still see them all on the photos! If you are still running next year, we will definitely be back and hopefully next year we can do the smelly swim as we went to the cave monastery this time instead. Thanks again to Paul and also to John our driver for some fantastic memories.

Olly H (22 September 2001)

hi rimmer, we're staying at the Marie Mare, for two weeks from the 2nd Oct, and we're with Unijet.

Gill R  (22 September 2001)

A great day out and super way to see the island! A good excuse for getting mucky up the dusty tracks - all added to the charm! Certainly needed the swim at the end. Comfort? As comfortable as it could be bumping up unmade roads! An experience not to be missed and congrats to all involved.

Rimmer   (22 September 2001)

Olly - Where are you staying, which tour operator, and how long are you here? Paul - No plans for this year, but possibly for next year! Guests can always contact us, or one of our agents listed below!!

David A  (20 September 2001)

Who is rimmer is it Paul? Some of the best views we've ever seen, which we would never have found without Paul! Would do it again but remember a camera next time. Paul was very friendly and entertaining. Good luck with your plans for future expansion Paul.

Olly H (19 September 2001)

Hi coming to Zante on the 2nd of Oct.This will be our fourth time, but only just heard of the Zakfari Jeep Safari, sounds great, but is there a contact number in Zante to book. Thanks, can't wait to come back to the island.

Rob F  (19 September 2001)

We loved it - if you're on a budget holiday then do try to fit this trip in - it is the best. Paul and his staff are great and show you parts of the island you will never see elsewhere. There is no hard sell anywhere on the trip you are asked where you want to stop - gallery - food - craft shops whatever. Do it you won't regret it.

Paul (19 September 2001)

Hi Rimmer can you please tell us if it will soon be possible to book on line? This would help the people who find it difficult to book once they are in Zante!! Keep up the good work.

Mich M  (19 September 2001)

We booked this through our Virgin Rep and paid approx £35.00 each for the trip with Compass not Zakfari. We were really looking forward to it as we had heard such good reports but it turned out we had a dreadful day! We were stuck on an excursion with 14 other people none of whom spoke to us the whole day. They were all German, Italian or Dutch and only the Dutch couple had English but they did not make any attempt to mix with us what so ever. We felt like pratts for the whole day. Where you visited was lovely though and the guides were very knowledgable but make sure there is a group of you booked on togehter.

Rimmer   (18 September 2001)

Higz - We will be operating until around about the 20th of October and will still cost about 17000 drx per person, half price for kids! see you then!!

Higz W (18 September 2001)

Have read so much about the Zakfari, I feel it would be a sin to miss it. Im going to Zante on October 14th, can anyone let me know if this excursion will still be available then and if so how much does it cost. Thanx in advance for any help!

Lindsay P  (17 September 2001)

this was one of the best days of the holiday! had such a laugh, even though paul took the p**s out of us all the time! you go places you'd never go if you'd just hired a car. you see the ship wreck from the best view and can even buy local produce from a bloke in a tiny wee village. we went on the boat trip the following day - it was so crap. avoid the boat trip and go on the safari and you'll have a ball.

Sandra S  (16 September 2001)

Zakfari jeep safari was one of the highlights of my trip to Zakynthos. It's a great way to see and appreciate the beauty and history of this extraordinary island. Paul and his team provided us with a wealth of information and history. We also saw parts of the islands that would have been difficult to access by ourselves. On comparison with the cruise of the island that we did the day before, this tour kicked BUTT. Thxs again for a great day out in Zankythos - from the two gals from down under.

Rimmer   (15 September 2001)

Andrew - Sent you info direct ot your e-mail address. No booking online as yet, and price in October will be about 17000 drx per adult and 1/2 price for kids. Theocharis Stds in Tsilivi are in the centre behind the 'Joker' bar, and have good access to the resort and is about 5-10 mins walk to the beach. Nearest pool is 100 yds away, and studios are old, basic, but comfortable!

Andrew A  (14 September 2001)

anyone any info on theoharis appmts? Rimmer, even more keen to book after reading posts. Is it poss to book on line? what is the cost in oct?Why the hell do i have to reregister every time i want to access this excellent informative site?

Wayne M  (14 September 2001)

Zakfari Jeep Safari is a MUST to all visiting Zakynthos. You are taken to locations you would never see on any bus tour or if you rented a scooter. You see the REAL Zakynthos, passing through unspoilt villages, experiencing the local culture from your open air seat in the jeep. The drivers are more than competent and you can rest assured you are in safe hands. The guide makes it a fun day out and includes everyone whilst giving you information on the site and locations. Your holiday will be incomplete if you don't join Zakfari for the best day out...EVER!!!

Andrew A  (13 September 2001)

Bugsy T  (12 September 2001)

forget the island by boat or coach this the only trip worth doing. brilliant day out stops and stories were fun and interesting even if we could only see one horse! Our driver Adonis may not have spoken much english but he could certainly handle his jeep especially off road, and by the way Paul my friend did see us waving to her in Aliknes - is she a giant or been at the ouzo well - you'll never know.

Sean H  (09 September 2001)

Loved it, all of it. Best day out on the Island, even on a day of poor weather. Paul was in great form. From the towers on the mountain top to the Zakfari well, everything was beautiful and entertaining. Bring a smile and an open mind (horses?) and you'll have a great holiday out.

Andy C  (08 September 2001)

Whether you are a poor student or not zakfari is undisputably the best thing on the island. Far better than any cruise you see all the best sites and things that you would never find if you hired a car! Along with the "entertaining" stories from the magnificent Paul you also have a nice beauty treatment at the glorious swim stop. Whatever you do when you go to Zaknthos make sue you do not miss out on this gem. Thanks for a great time Paul from both me and Amy

Mark   (08 September 2001)

After being recommended by others, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was a different way to see the Island and appealed to our exploring nature. John our driver gave full consideration to his passengers over some very rough terraine. Paul made it into an entertaining adverture with stories of giant's and the ouzo well. Thanks to all. Hopefully you will continue doing it.

Jane   (07 September 2001)

We loved it. The kids are 5 and 7, one of their highlights was the loud BANG from the exhaust every time the Land Rover stopped! We've hired a car and explored off the beaten track before, but this trip took us to the places we found too hard to find. Thanks for a wonderful day.

Avtar S  (05 September 2001)

An excellent day out .Even my 9 year old son enjoyed it.Enjoyed the Water from the wells (much better than bottled stuff).Paul was an excellent tour guide, and i raise my Zakfari 'hat' (which my wife won in the raffle),to all the Zakfari crew. Avtar

Chris H  (05 September 2001)

I feel privileged to have been part of the Zakfari experience this summer. If you only go on one trip, make it this one. I took my 13 year old son as part of his birthday present (we booked from England, via Frances at Tsilivi Travel) and he reckons this was his best present. From giant horses to ouzo wells, from smelly beauty treatment to Paul's fantastic knowledge of Zakynthos and his sense of humour, this is not one to miss. Thanks, Paul and your team for a truly unforgettable day.

Steff S  (03 September 2001)

A Brilliant day out! Although we had the oldest jeep with the old type springs, so we weren't as comfortable as those with power steering and coil type springs! But it was good for the cellulite! We had a new driver who apparently couldn't speak a word of english. Well he still kept laughing in the right places (when we were screaming) so I reckon he knew very well what we were saying! But the discomfort was all part and parcel of it. You don't go on a safari expecting to be comfortable! If you read this Dave hope you have recovered! If anyone is thinking of going make sure you wear sturdy shoes (not flip flops) or you will miss out on some of the views. The guide was excellent with his stories of Giants and Penguins and we believed everything of course!!! Thanks to Paul and Adonis for a fantastic day.

Brian W (31 August 2001)

Excellent day out for all the family. Paul was very funny & new his stuff about the places we visited.

Ron G  (31 August 2001)

what can we say but thanks to Paul and team for the best day of our holiday. This is a must, my 13yr old lad and i had a superb day. Paul has you laughing from the start ..the stories are great (I believe in giants ...)some great off roading, stunning locations, a good food stop, the swim at the end of the trip was enjoyable and interesting. the wreck is also visited but from a fantastic viwe point, paul knows his way around this island so you visit places you wouldnt normally (devils throat..12 wells )Paul and crew are courteous and great fun. For an exhillerating and fun filled day you just have to do this. Value for money (the food stop is cheap with good food)Thanks again Paul for a great day

Lyndsey C  (30 August 2001)

Brilliant day! I have done all the trips on the island over the several years that I have been visiting Zante, this one is by far the best. Paul, the tour guide was on brilliant form all day, very knowledgeable and generally a really nice bloke, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this trip to anyone.

Ken B  (30 August 2001)

Thanks for your prompt reply and kind offer. I hope my comments and your reply will be helpful to others. As I suspected, it was not Zakfari's fault. Good luck, may you continue to be fully booked! Ken

Rimmer   (29 August 2001)

Ken - We can only apologise for what happened to you on this day. We were full on this day and had refused the booking as we had no seats available on any of the days requested. The agent had issued you a ticket, despite knowing there were no seats available, hoping that places would become available on the day! We are sorry you had to wait so long to find out that you couldn't go, and you can be assured that strong words have been had with this agent, who is now faxing all enquiries / reservations to us so there will be no future mix ups!!! The major tour companies (JMC, First Choice, Cosmos, Apollo etc.) have contracted most of the seats on each day and there are only limited seats available on certain days. We will never have enough seats in high season to fulfill the demand, and are therefore in the hands of local agents / reps to inform guests of the situation. Each extra booking is put on a 'waiting list', and should spaces become available, they are then contacted. Once again, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this agent, and if you ever come again to Zakynthos, or Corfu, please contact us directly on info@zakfari.com and we will make special arrangements for you, should you want to go on the tour.

Gareth B  (29 August 2001)

I have just come back from Zante and the highlight of my holiday was the Zakfari, Jeep Safari. It was amazing with helpful and polite guides. I would recomend it to anybody going to Zante, a trip of a lifetime

Sharon G  (28 August 2001)

This was a brilliant day out and Paul is possibly one of the funniest people I have ever met. He knows everything there is to know about the island and what he doesn't know he makes up (his stories are also very believable!) Thanks for a brilliant day Paul, will deffinately be back.

Ken B  (28 August 2001)

From visiting this site before our holiday this was to be one of the highlights. It seems very popular as there was only one available date in the three dates we offered (at a minimum of 5 days notice. We booked via Flocas Travel Agency (Holiday Autos, by the Reportage Bar, Tsivili. Turning up at the appointed time, we waited an hour, one jeep passed fully laden, a second appeared with space only for the family of four waiting with us. Telephone calls produced the news that we were double-booked, and the day was ruined. Whilst our money was returned, no alternative dates were available, and we seem to have missed out on an excellent experience. Perhaps Zakfari would like to comment on how others might avoid this disappointment.

Chris P  (27 August 2001)

Excellent trip - much better than seeing Zante stuck on a coach all day. Paul - Thanks for the stories - we're still talking about which ones were actually true!!

Bill B  (27 August 2001)

Just got back from Zakynthos and this was by far the best trip available a great day out for all the family. The ex-army landrovers were ideal for getting to those hard to reach places and being convertables were much better than other jeep tours where shoguns were used and everybody on these looked, hot, bothered, and just downright miserable? Paul's stories were amusing and informative but don't believe everything he tells you! Make sure that he tells the one about the ouzo well. If you get John as your driver make sure that you ask lots of questions about local history as apparently he is a bit of an expert. Thanks Paul and team for a great day out. (The smell has just about gone after nearly a week)

Rimmer   (25 August 2001)

Jo - We are still running in October, usually until about the 22nd depending upon the weather. To be sure of getting on, book for your first week here. Please note that we will probably not be swimming at this time, as it will be too cold!

Jac L  (23 August 2001)

I really enjoyed this, as did my friends that I was with. You got to go to places that you didn't in a big nasty air conditioned coach, the tour guide was fab, (if not a tad patronising). But it was a really good day. A word of advice though, if you get travel sick (like my friend did), take some medication before you go, you'll really be glad you did.

Jo R (23 August 2001)

I am visiting Zante from 11 October for 2 weeks - staying at the Windmill Studios. Is the Jeep Safari still running then?

Andy C  (23 August 2001)

If you only get off your sunbed for one day, make sure it is for this one. We discovered more of the island and its legends on this trip than in the whole of the rest of our two week stay. Great fun - keep up the good work, Paul!

Karen   (22 August 2001)

We read about this trip on here and didn't think it would live up to the hype but it really is fantastic, a top day out and the only way to see all of the island (in one go)! Our driver George, although the strong silent type, proved to be the best driver as well as very handy at fixing wheel nuts and flat tyres - all part of the adventure! For anyone visiting Zante this year it's a must as we heard a rumour that Paul won't be doing it next year, is this true, where is he going instead so that we can book our next holiday there? Thank you all for the best day of the holiday.

Paul   (22 August 2001)

Coming over NEXT AUGUST!!!it can`t come quick enough. This trip seems to be a must. ROLL ON NEXT YEAR!!!!!

Nicola B  (22 August 2001)

like it is not the word i loved it and so did all my family. eight of us went ranging from an age of 9 to 45 and we all had a wicked time. paul was fab and took us to all th best places. it is the best way to c the island and the stories that go with the island are gr8 but dont believe all of them luv niki xxx

Gina F (21 August 2001)

just wanted to thank paul & the zakfari team for a wonderful day out. we booked not really knowing what to expect apart from our rep. telling us it was last summer's best tour - and was she right! the scenery was amazing - we saw the island from a completely different view, having already been around it by boat on another trip. paul's knowledge of the island was excellent, as was our driver constantinos, and paul's humour and storytelling were brilliant. i'm convinced that the last 'smelly' swim stop got rid of the awful p***kly heat rash i had. top marks to zakfari - everyone should go on the safari.

Lisa C  (20 August 2001)

Thanks Paul for a fantastic day out on the jeep zakfari. You made the day with your stories, history telling, combined with some great driving, amazing swim stops (Wear sensible shoes)perfect scenery and also free beauty treatments made for the best day of the holiday. i am not sure if the Danish girls felt the same but there you go. I would seriously reccommend this trip to anyone and those people in our apartments who did not go were really upset that we had such an amazing day. 10 August 2001

Rimmer   (20 August 2001)

Sue - As you are staying at the Golden Bay, i assume you are travelling with First Choice or Unijet. Either way, contact the First Choice rep at the hotel and they can arrange the booking for you. Price is 17000 drx per adult and half price for children under 12.. Golden Bay is a nice hotel, in a quiet area, and has plenty of entertainment for the kids in the hotel. There are plenty of good beaches in the area, including the best watersports beach on the island (St. Nikolas). The only drawback is that there is not a lot to do outside the hotel, as it is a very quiet area, and you need transport to get to the nearest proper resort. See you soon

Colin A  (19 August 2001)

A brilliant day out and a great way to see the island. The swim stops were at beautiful locations and timed just right during the day. A must for everyone (families included). We had a young family in our jeep and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves! Many thanks to Paul, Spiros and Konstantinos for a fantastic day (despite my wife not being able to count!!). I recommend this trip highly!

Sue (18 August 2001)

Me, my hubby and two kids will be staying in Golden Bay Village, Vassilikos in sept and would love to do one of these jeep safaris - can anyone give us any info on the best way to book this? Also if anyone has any info or tips to help us enjoy our first hol abroad we would greatly appreciate it - thanx

Kathy H  (18 August 2001)

Hi all, We went on this trip with our kids (7 and 9) and we all enjoyed it enormously. It was deffinitely one of the highlights of our holiday. Paul is an excellent guide and his stories were well worth the trip alone. Our driver John was brilliant! We recommend this trip to everyone and hope they have as much fun as we had.

Rimmer   (17 August 2001)

Kevin - What can i say? We are an open top 4x4 'safari style' tour off the island. We cover the whole island in a day, with 8 or 9 stops off the vehicles. I dont want to give the game away, but you can see from the comments below where we go during the day! We look forward to seeing you when you get out here!

Lindsay B  (16 August 2001)

We had a brilliant time, Paul was hilarious and kept us all amused not to mention the Danish girls!! You see loads of the island all in a day and it really is beautiful. 2 swim stops, food in a great restaurant plus you get smelly so make sure you have a shower at the end of the day. Very memorable!

Sally R  (16 August 2001)

We came to visit Zante last year and did the Zakfari trip on our last day before we flew home. It was fantastic - we luvved it so much that had we got another week in resort then we'd have booked to go on it again. Our guides last year were Ben and Ros - they were an excellent pair and I'd recommend this trip to anyone...! We shall definitely be there again soon.

Kevin E (16 August 2001)

What the hell is Zakfari - everyone I speak to says that it is excellent and a must. From the sounds of it, it is just a tour of the island which I agree do make for a good day out and are enjoyable but everyone seems to think that this is the ultimate, the bees knees, the guv'nor of tours. I am going to Zante on sunday (19th) and intend to do this but really want to know what makes it so special yet no-one seems to want to give away what it entails. Please help - it is driving me crazy

Rimmer   (15 August 2001)

Dawn - It depends on which tour company you are here with. If you are at the Ilios, then i guess you will be with First Choice which means you can book direct through your rep! Price this year is 17000 drx per adult and half price for children 12 and under, but for next year we do not know yet! We also have a local agent close by, so if there are any problems you can book with them at the same price. Children are more than welcome, only babies aged 2 and under can not be taken. See you next year!!!

Kate H  (15 August 2001)

thanx paul 4 a trip-in-a-life-time xperience!!!!! it was wicked n we lurved ur stories!!!!!!!!!!!! i just wanna say thanx also 2 the drivers especially kostantinos for bein a excellent driver!!!!!!!!!! i didnt wanna go home n nxt time i c*m bac count me in for another zakfari!!!!!!1 oh yeah n b4 i go, cud u xplain the peguin story 2 me again???

Dawn M (15 August 2001)

We're coming to Zante August 2002 staying at the Ilios aparthotel-Laganas. Really interested in the Zakfari. Is it suitable for children our youngest will be 4? Also how much does it cost? Thanks

Moffit D  (14 August 2001)

AMAZING! FAB! BRILL! NOT TO BE MISSED THATS FOR SURE!!! YOU COULD GO ON ALL THE CRIUSES AND COACH TOURS, AND STILL NOT SEE AS MUCH AS WE DID IN A JEEP, IT WAS REALLY COMFY DESPITE WHAT YOU MAY THINK, THANKS PAUL FOR A BREATHTAKING EXPERIENCE, OUR CHEEKS WERE HURTING FROM SMILING ALL DAY!!! ZAKFARIS A MUST IF YOU GO, THEYVE NOW GOT THERE OWN REPS ON THE STREETS OF LAGANAS, SO YOU CAN BOOK DIRECTLY!!!!! GO!!!

Leanne S  (13 August 2001)

we didn't just like it, we loved it - have the wind in your hair, get smelly (NOT GIVING ANYTHING AWAY THOUGH) and see the true Zakynthos, away from the tourist centers, to beautiful beaches, and have a great time. paul is such an entertainer (with a good imagination to boot). I went on this trip not sure what we were to expect and now I have had this must have experience I don't want to spoil part of the mystery by telling - you'll just have to see for yourself and I highly recommend you do. you won't regret it

Captain   (11 August 2001)

Cheers Rimmer loking forward to taking the safari with you.hope the Bona VisTA apartments are not some hell hole in the middle of no where!!!!!lol

Rimmer   (11 August 2001)

Captain - You can not book directly with Kosmar, but will be able to book us through the Lagana agent (Kappa Corfu). I'm not sure where your apartments are, but you can contact Carolyn at Kappa Corfu on 53461 for details and booking. Beware though, as Kosmar may offer you the 'sardine tin' safari mentioned below, this is not air conditioned and the temperature here this week has been in the 40's in the shade!!!

Captain (11 August 2001)

this seems to be an excellent trip!! i`m travelling with kosmar, can i book through them or can i find somewhere in lagana?i`m staying at the bona vista apartments.thanks....

Di M  (09 August 2001)

Brilliant day out and a really good way to see the Island. Paul is a very good story teller and I would really recommend this trip.

Nicola M  (06 August 2001)

An Excellent day out! Don't miss it!

N S  (05 August 2001)

Just a quick note to say hello to Jon and the team. We really enjoyed ourselves and it was the highlight of our holiday! Perhaps see you again next year?!?! (Neil from Biggleswade)

V H  (05 August 2001)

We were in Zante for one week, and this was a great way to see the parts of the island that you wouldn't get to see otherwise. We went off the beaten track, and had some great swim stops at some gorgeous beaches, not to mention seeing the famous Smugglers Cove from the cliffs above! The guide also makes it a laugh rather than bombarding you with facts and figures about the island. Well worth the money!

Charlotte T  (04 August 2001)

WOW! Just got back from 2 weeks in hot, sunny and divine Zante and if there is 1 recommendation 2 N E 1 planning on going 2 Zakynthos it is 2 4get the cruises, the visits and the booze-up meets rep-wreck evenings and DO ZAKFARI coz it is an ultim8 MUST!! (no-I am not under commision 2 say this!) If you want to travel along the bumpy dirt tracks of Zante, with the wind in your hair, be aquainted with old, traditional villages which you never thought even existed, experience breathtaking views 200m above sea level which you can never 4get, swim in a paradise laguna, recieve EXCLUSIVE top-of-the-range beauty treatment (especially for us girlies!!) and be told something about a cave, a giant, some wells and a horse whilst being entertained by Paul and never-ending humour, charm and stories...oh, and perhaps get a little, tiny bit smelly then this is certainly the trip 4 U! It was gr8!! Paul, if that offer of 6 months in the sun, a luxury boat and a million £'s is still on offer I may have to take you up on it! By the way, we think "COR-BY-4" is a deffin8! (PLEASE KEEP US IN AND DATED) Paul just want 2 say thanx 4 a gr8 time-AMAZING!!!

James G  (04 August 2001)

HELLO!! Just thought i'd pop by and say im home again, sadly!! Had a great time once again, if only i'd been in a hotel which was more "my thing". Thanks again Rimmer for a great time, we both enjoyed it. Once again the highlight of my holiday to Zante. It is truly THE best way of seeing the island. Also i've saved the 2 bottles of wine i bought to get nicely drunk tomorrow, will be thinking of you. See you next year!!

Sarah n  (02 August 2001)

Just back from a week in Zakynthos, and wanted to send many thanks to Paul and all the team at Zakfari for a great day out. Please can you tell the holiday reps selling the tour, that you need to take swimming gear with you, as we missed out on getting smelly at the end!!

Mrs M  (02 August 2001)

We had a fantastic time and it was mostly thanks to Paul the guide. He has the flair and enthusiasm that could make anything interesting. It was one of the highlights of our holiday - a truely unique way of exploring the island. The drivers were very good too, much better than the other loons on the roads. Do not settle for an imitation of Zakfari because you will loose out!

Suzie   (31 July 2001)

Just back from a holiday to Tsilivi, went on Zakfari trip. It was the highlight of our holiday!! Don't miss this!! Wish we'd been there at the time of the 'Ouzo Well'. Make sure Paul tells you all about it. Give the cruise around the island a miss, it just makes you ill! from the Scottish taxi driver and his girlfriend.

Rimmer   (23 July 2001)

Dear all again - the local agents are a little difficult to read, so here they are again, Alikes/Alykanas - Flocas Travel (83136 - Teta) Tsilivi - Flocas Travel (22528 - Andreas) or Tsilivi Travel (44194 - Frances) Argasi / Kalamaki / Laganas - Kappa Corfu Travel (53461 - Carolyn) Thanks, and see you soon

Rimmer   (21 July 2001)

Dear All - I just want to update you on the latest developements in the booking of Zakfari. We are now available through First Choice, Unijet, Cosmos, Direct Holidays, Argo, Solos, Apollo, Golden Sun, various dutch companies, and now JMC!! We are also available on request through Priceright and Olympic. There shold be no further problems booking through these last two companies, as the proverbial really hit the fan after the situation mentioned a few entries below! If you are not on holiday with any of the above companies, then you can book through our local agents as follows: Alikes/Alykanas - Flocas Travel (83136)- Teta Tsilivi - Flocas Travel (22528)-Andreas or Tsilivi Travel (44194)- Frances Argasi/Kalamaki/Laganas - Kappa Corfu (53461)- Carolyn If you have any trouble finding us when you are here then call us on 29680 anytime! Also, as mentioned below, if you are offered any other 'jeep safari' tour, then request to see their licence, MOT, insurance etc., they should all be carried on the vehicles used!!! Thanks for all the comments so far

James G  (17 July 2001)

Thanks Rimmer, see you next week!!

Rimmer   (17 July 2001)

James G. - Still no good news from Thomson. If you are staying at the Laganas Hotel, then there is an office just 50 metres away down that road called 'Kappa Corfu' run by an English girl called Carolyn. Good luck, and see you soon!!!

James G  (16 July 2001)

Hiya everyone. Rimmer, any news on the thomson (freestyle) front?? If no good news, wheres the best place to book in laganas? I assume its on the high street, if i remember rightly its just a bit down from the mini golf and go karts, is it?? And whats its name? Really looking forward to the day out, one of the high points of my last visit. Flying on Friday morning, so you should have my booking on or around that day. See you all soon!!!!

Rimmer   (13 July 2001)

Jackie - I'm very sorry to hear about this problem with booking through Olympic Holidays, and wish there was something i could do to rectify the situation! However, maybe because of this situation, and the number of complaints they have been getting, Olympic, Priceright, and Golden Sun have all dropped this other safari company and are now booking only 'Zakfari'. Great news for us, and also for everyone else who wishes to book us! Those of you travelling with Airtours and Kosmar who book a safari, beware, as you will be in these same 'sardine tins'. You may like to ask for proof of licence and insurance from that company before you travel, it should cause a few raised eyebrows!!! Jackie, could you please mail me at info@zakfari.com as i want to talk to you about what happened, and what to do next year? Thanks

Jackie H  (11 July 2001)

Word of warning here...we have just got back and I thought I would do you all a favour and tell you to make sure you have booked this Safari, not a poor imitation. We (seven of us) booked a Jeep Safari though our Olympic rep and told her we wanted Zakfari, after reading about this site. We paid her loads of dosh (122,00 Drachma or about £250.00) and even checked with her three days later to make sure this was the safari we were on. She guaranteed us it was. How wrong she was.... an orange minibus thing picked us up, and we had to wait for another one to meet us for about 30 mins. Four stops, including one at the driver's bosses pub, in something likened to a sardine tin with NO air conditioning was not pleasant. We acually saw the Zakfari jeeps, and everyone looked like they were having a ball. We wanted to hijjack the jeeps. Basically, we set off at 10.30 and were back in our apartments by 5.30. Our rep did'nt bat an eyelid when we told her, but I just thought I'd mention it as Olympic are supposed to be one of the companies that you can book through. We will be going back next year and will book direct though this site before going.

James G  (06 July 2001)

Saved youselves a lot of money, but missed out on the wealth of info and the excellent stops they provide. Bet you never saw a very, very large horse ( :O) )or stopped at a top of a tall cliff to see the "boats". Or even a very smelly area of the island. Its not as bad as it sounds. Thats what i pay for on excursions, and thats what i shall pay for again. In just two weeks i fly, see you soon Rimmer.

Garry S  (05 July 2001)

for a group of four the zakfari would hsve cost 128 pounds (thats 32 pounds each) so we decided to hire a jeep ourselves and go on our on zakfari which was great fun for only 40 quid!!!!

Amy N  (04 July 2001)

It was a wild and windy day last September when we embarked on this adventure. 3 jeeps of intrepid travellers all set out with their usual British reserve. It wasn't long before the reserve was gone and we were group of mad adventurers chasing each other from one end of the island to the other. If you've never done a jeep safari before then this is the one to do. We can't come up with words to fully describe the fun we had that day. If anything made us go back to the island the safari with Zakfari would. Brilliant, outstanding, mega, splendiferous............ Good luck with this season guys we hope you meet and make lots of new friends

Sharon H  (04 July 2001)

James G Thanks - we'll see you soon (about 10+ days) - really looking forward to it...

Rimmer   (03 July 2001)

James G and Girlfriend - We do 9 or 10 stops all together, and only 1 of them at the moment is a swim stop (maybe 2 in very hot weather)! So there is plenty to do otherwise. Sharon - Zakfari is great for kids of their ages. You can book through First Choice at the hotel, and we will pick you up from there. Price in July is 17500 drx per adult, and half price for kids 12 and under.

Sharon H (02 July 2001)

Jeep Safari sounds really good! How much does it cost? Is it suitable for kids (12,11,9)? Can it be booked through First Choice reps at Golden Bay, Vasilikos?

James G  (01 July 2001)

Whoops, girlfriend didnt know my name would appear. She'd like to know what activities are availble being as she can't swim.

James G (01 July 2001)

Hi everyone I am coming to Zante on the 20th July can not wait definatly be donig the Zakfari but I can't swim is there still pently for me to do.

Bob M  (01 July 2001)

Just returned from trip to Zakynthos to cover the Zakfari operation for LAND ROVER MONTHLY Magazine - the use three specially converted open-topped Land Rovers (not jeeps) with British-made safety cages. Although I have visited the island a few times before, both on holiday and as a motoring journalist, I found Paul and the team to be a mine of information on places and events I new little about. I spent two full days with the team, and joined them at the lunch stop on two others. Every customer on the trips was aware that I was a journalist, and not one registered a complaint. Drivers - two Brits and two Greeks - all have professional minibus driving licences. Highly Recommended

Nicky H  (29 June 2001)

Zakfari is definately the best way to see the island. We went on one of those cruises and it just doesn't compare. Zakfari does cost a little more but it is well worth it. Paul is very good and provides you with lots of interesting info and stories on route. The stops are good and you see things that you would otherwise miss out on.

Rimmer   (27 June 2001)

Janet - There are no other legal safaris on the island, and your rep will only sell you 'Zakfari'. If you have any problems, then one of our agents is about 100 metres down the road from the hotel. If you are offered anything else, then it is not 'Zakfari' and will be in a closed vehicle withour air conditioning!

Yoko   (26 June 2001)

Hi, don't forget to remind LRMBob to photograph Louisa at the Red Lion Tsilivi and her black V8 90. Drop in for a free drink any time Bob. You are also welcome to drop in any time for a drink Smudge. Cheers YOKO

Janet W (26 June 2001)

Me again Rimmer,How long is the Zakfari. Is there different safari's that we don't want to get mixed up with.

Les   (26 June 2001)

We visited Alikes in July of 1999 and went on the Zakfari trip and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was great to get the wind and dust in your face and hair, only to wash it out in the sea later. We are coming back on the 29th June and a trip with Zakfari is at the top of our 'must do' list! See you all soon.

Rimmer   (26 June 2001)

Janet - I have sent a reply to your e-mail address. Hope it is what you were looking for!

Janet W (25 June 2001)

We will be staying in the Ikaros Hotel in Laganas at the beginning of October. Our tour opperator is Direct Holidays. We want to know what the best Safari will be and the cost and do we get the chance to drive. Janet

Rimmer   (22 June 2001)

Lisa - Which tour company are you coming here with? You may be able to book through them.

Lisa N (22 June 2001)

Where to book Zakfari whilst staying at Antonis Appts, Kalamaki. Will be there from 29 June.

Rimmer   (19 June 2001)

James - Thanks for the offer! It is on list of things to do, but keeps getting put back behind vehicle servicing, tour company meeting etc. Will make a concerted effort to sort it out this week. Will let you know if i need any help!!

James G  (19 June 2001)

Hello all Zakfarians! Rimmer, just thought i'd pop by and mention that your wbpage needs some work. If you need some help id be glad to chip in. Im no qualified professional by any means but i have written a couple of pages before and am happy to give assistance.

Rimmer   (18 June 2001)

Debbie - You may be able to book trough JMC by then, but just in case, e-mail me at the address a few posts below and let me know where you are staying (hotel / resort), and i will let you know the easiest way to book!

Debbie   (18 June 2001)

S S  (16 June 2001)

Hello Rimmer. Thank you for your posting. Mail on it's way to you.

Rimmer   (15 June 2001)

S Sillaw - Hello, we set a minimum age limit of 4 yrs old for safety reasons. Thomson may well have made up their minds by then, but who knows! Let me know where you are staying (hotel / resort) and i will let you know the best way to book. Mail me on info@zakfari.com

S S  (15 June 2001)

Hi Rimmer. We're travelling with Thompson on 17 August (8 weeks, six days & 17 hours but I'm not counting) - is Zakfari suitable for children? We have an 8 & a 4 year old? We're also meeting friends who have a 7 & a 4 year old at the same hotel. If suitable, could you please confirm your contacts so that we can contact you? Many thanks.

Bob   (14 June 2001)

Hi Guys, Will be with you from Friday 22nd with cameras full of film. Bob LAND ROVER MONTHLY Magazine

Rimmer   (13 June 2001)

James - Yep, you can still call the phone numbers for advice, but we cant yet take direct bookings!

James G  (12 June 2001)

Thanx Rimmer, still alright to ring your mobile or local number? Since i'm travelling through thompson (freestyle).

Rimmer   (12 June 2001)

Yeah, thanks James! Smell is as good as ever! Update on prvious info. Tour now available through First Choice, Unijet, Cosmos, Argo, Direct Holidays, Apollo, and hopefully very soon JMC! Thomson still haven't come to a decision, so we have offered there days to JMC. If you are here with Priceright (Libra), Olympic, or Golden Sun then you can book us by request (ie ask rep for 'Zakfari', not other Jeep Safari). Anyone else can book through Tsilivi Travel (Tsilivi), Flocas Travel (Alikes,Tsilivi) and Kappa Corfu (Lagana). Mail me at info@zakfari.com for anything else. Thanks

James G  (12 June 2001)

Hello again!! Thought i'd pop in a message saying i never found the "location" smelly. Not exactly warm maybe. Maybe we could skip the sewage treatment plant next time, eh?? (Just kiddin' everyone)

Dave   (07 June 2001)

Nicky - You'll never forget a Zakfari Safari. Like Rimmer says - could be a smell, then again it might be the colour too. Rimmer - I think we'll have to do it again. I sold my LR IIA and got a Landcruiser but don't half miss my old toy. At least the lid on your comes off ( more than can be said for the "competition's" vehicle that I noticed last year). CU early July. Ãéá óïì, ×ñïíéá Ðïëëá Dave & Lucy

Rimmer   (07 June 2001)

Nicky - Thanks, i'll see you soon. Vicky - I couldn't give away a good ending! The whole day is a full island tour in open top Land Rovers. Spectacular views, swim stops, etc., by far the best way to see the island in a day!!!!

Nicky H (06 June 2001)

Rimmer - I am coming over next Thursday so I guess I will just have to find out for myself. I'll be seeing you!

Vicky M (06 June 2001)

What exactly happens? What do you see?

Rimmer   (04 June 2001)

Nicky - As i run Zakfari, i won't give it away. We have different endings depending on the weather! But if it was at a swim stop then it could be the smell!!!! That's all i'll say!!

Nicky H (04 June 2001)

Someone I know has just returned from Zante and recommended this trip. He said that there is a suprise at the end that is brilliant. He won't tell me what it is. Does anyone know?

Rimmer   (03 June 2001)

Jason - Zakfari is selling for 16000 drx, and we do stop for lunch and water on the way. Look out for us when you get here, or call us on 29680.

Jason W  (03 June 2001)

GOING TO ZANTE IN 4 DAYS TIME. ANYONE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH ZAFARI TRIP WILL COST & WHETHER YOU NEED TO TAKE FOOD/WATER ETC OR WILL THEY STOP SOMEHERE?

James G  (24 May 2001)

Just eight more weeks to go before i go to Zante. Woohoo!!!! Look out everyone here i come :)

Heloise T  (17 May 2001)

Sorry, meant to be all excellent!

Heloise T  (17 May 2001)

Absolutely brilliant! It was so funny, I'm still laughing about it a year later! We stayed at Hotel Zante and the jeep picked us up from the hotel next door. The drivers were really really sweet and very chatty and friendly. We stopped at an amazing lagoon for a swim and stopped once for snacks, once for a drink at a bar, and once for a meal. Then we finished up with the other jeep driver and I throwing water at each other running round the mountains. It was an absolutely brilliant day, and one of the funniest times I've ever had.xx

James G  (16 May 2001)

Cheers for that! Be in touch.

Rimmer   (14 May 2001)

Jamws G. - Good to hear from you, thanks for the compliments. Thomson situation is difficult at moment, but i will post the result here asap. Basically they had a big jeep safari accident on Lanzarote last year and still haven't decided if they will use any jeep safari type tour worldwide ever again!!! If not, Flocas Travel on Lagana high street can book you on us. Or call me on 0977 967731 when you get to resort.

James G  (14 May 2001)

One other thing Rimmer, any news on bookings through Thompson, more specifically, Freestyle?? If not, you shall be receiving a couple of days before I leave.

James G  (14 May 2001)

Hello everyone!! I went on the Zakfari tour in august '99 and i shall be going on it again. Rimmer my main man, see you after 20th July!!! Hope you pick up from the lagana hotel!!

Rimmer   (09 May 2001)

Sarah - Thanks, i'm glad you enjoyed it! Tim - Zakfari is available through First Choice, Unijet, Cosmos, Direct Holidays, Argo, Olympic, And hopefully Thomson, Manos, Priceright and Golden Sun aswell. We also sell through some small trravel agents, but not in Kalamaki as yet. If you have any problems finding us in resort you can e-mail us at info@zakfari.com. Also, beware of illegal imitations!!

Sarah W  (06 May 2001)

A must if you visit. The Zakfari Company is owned by British people and the vehicles are registered in the UK so you know the standards are pretty high. I can honestly say my hubby who is totally blind also had as much fun as the rest of us. THANKS ZAKFARI FOR A TRULY EXCELLENT DAY!

Tim A (04 May 2001)

Where can I get info on the Jeep Safari cus I am off to Kalamaki on the 28th June and would like to do it. Is anyone else going at the same time as me.

Rimmer   (10 April 2001)

Zakfari will pick up from any resort on the island and does a full day tour from 9.00am to 5.30pm. It costs about £30 for the day and can be booked via your tour operator (Thomson, First Choice, Unijet, Cosmos, Direct Holidays, Olympic, Argo) or via one or two small travel agents.

Andy G (09 April 2001)
