Sunrise Hotel(Hotels in Tsilivi) |
| 2/10 | |
Things I feel need addressing with regard to the 'Sunrise Hotel' and our experience of it last week. Firstly, there is no 24hr reception as described. We visited the reception area several times, both in the afternoon and evening with no one to be seen. We also talked to a guest that had arrived at the hotel early morning after a night flight, having to bang on the reception door to gain someone's attention to be let in. Eventually a member of staff let them in. Hardly a good advertisement for the start of your holiday. We also found the young man who manages reception (when he was there) to be completely useless and unhelpful. Whenever we had a minor problem or wanted some info from him, all we got was "you need to see the owner". I honestly wondered what his role was. I have done reception work, and he wouldn't last five minutes in the real world.
The owner was not much help either. We had a leaking basin tap in the bathroom that wouldn't shut off no matter how hard you tried. I'm not talking about a drip or two but running water. This was annoying, so we decided to avoid boy wonder on reception and approach the lady owner about it. Well, you would think I had just asked her to kill all her family with a rusty blunt axe going by the look she gave me. Needless to say it didn't get fixed. Room 308 by the way.
The maid service was also very hit and miss. We arrived on Sunday 2nd Sept. We had maid service on the Monday but none again until Thursday, even though we informed them about it. All in all very poor service. I appreciate it is only a 2* hotel, although I would call it more a glorified self catering establishment, but this is no excuse for poor customer service.
As the previose message says, I think the best room are being kept back for the Greek visitors. What we had certainly didn't look like the images that the web site shows. They also fail to mention that the hotel is in direct line of the airport flight path, and that you will be woken at the crack of dawn every day by the cockrel, turky's and local dogs behind the hotel.
My advise is look somewhere else. You can do better for you money than here.
I think we can safely say we will not be returning or recommending the Sunrise Hotel (term used loosely) to anyone.

my daughter and I have just come back from 2 weeks at this hotel. the hotel itself is nice, clean and in a quiet location. however there are major issues with the staff that supposedly run the hotel. there is a high turnover of staff, in particular cleaners. a lot of the staff are casually employed, come from Albania and are in Greece without having legal papers. they are being paid very little and treated even worse.during my stay i witnessed many harrowing incidents of managers shouting at and abusing staff verbally. also on several occasions roooms were either double-booked or were simply not ready. this in particular affects british tourists as the management at this hotel will give preferential treatment to greek visitors by moving british tourists out of their rooms and into less comfortable accommodation. some of the events promised by this hotel on their website either don't take place (such as the greek night etc.) or they are haphazardly organised. we had one barbecue, which didn't start until late at night and paid 12 euros for undercooked food. I'm afraid the list goes on, as there is much under the surface that in my opinion would warrant investigating by a holiday rep or even the greek authorities. I can only advise everyone who thinks of staying there to take extreme caution and heed my warnings. Oh, and don't forget to hang on to your passport, whatever you do. I didn't get mine back for days and had to kick up a right fuss in reception, where I was subjected to snide remarks myself. alltogether a shame is all I can say. ![]()

My wife and I are thinking of staying at the Sunrise Hotel in September 07. We have stayed in Tsilivi many times, but not at the Sunrise Hotel. Does the hotel suffer from any night time noise? What sort of age range stay there? We are in our mid to late forties. And although we like to join in and enjoy ourselves, we don't want to end up at a club 18-30 sort of establishment.
![]() Are all the rooms pool facing or are some balconies overlooking a road?
Thanks for any info

We've just come back from a week staying at the sunrise, it was fantastic, the hotel was spotless and the staff were so friendly. The town is about a 10 minute walk and the beach is about 15- 20 mins, would recommend it to anyone.

Hotel in general was plesent to stay although the rooms, especially the bathroom, could do with some attention. Walls are very thin and we happened to have noisy neighbours.

![]() We had a great holiday at The Sunrise. The family made us feel very welcome and we can't fault the accomodation. It's located in a quiet part of town, it's very laid back and child friendly. We have already decided like many others to go back next year.

| We stayed at the Sunrise for 2 weeks and found it very good. The problems they have had did not stop them from making us very welcome. The best comment I have is the cleanliness of the whole place, this is due to one person on the whole site. I have never come across any accomodation so clean. The hotel may have been quiet, but this was not a problem for us. Every request we made was dealt with straight away. I would have no hesitation in giving my recommendation to anyone. Good luck for next year. | ||||||||||
