Zante Royal Resort

Accommodation in Vassilikos

Karen N          6/10

My partner and I have just spent a week all-inclusive at this 4 star hotel.Would rate it as a 3 star, rooms were very clean towels changed every day.A fridge in the room but was empty, even water would have been a bonus.Negatives were just one restaurant open, very poor toaster one of,unlabelled food, only half a hotplate open.Shoudn't be called a waterpark only 2 slides and they were pretty slow and scraped your back. The waterpark pool needs a new lining also. The drinks were very good, good choice and decent measures, ice cream was lovely. The pool by the bar was very nice, and the animation team were really friendly and did a fantastic job with the children.Lovely beach but 7 euros for 2 sunbeds and umbrella and a bar were you had to pay.A nice walk to the bus stop into Argassi 14 Kms away and 17 Euros by taxi each way.I would say a very friendly place alot of english visitors, and with a few changes this could be a very good place to stay.

The Hotel although clean and spacious was in the top of a mountain. Or it might as well have been. My wife is disabled and when we booked our Holiday we were told that we would be at ground level. Which we were not. We went for a week All Inclusive which was fine but they do not cater for vegitarians at all. Also we found that all the meals and entertainment was geared around the Germans. I personally do not have a problem with Germans but I thought that it was supposed to be an International Hotel. Night life was zero unless you only want to sit in a bar all night. The entertainment team wdid do English entertainment did leave you wanting. We were not impressed.

Hi travelling to th hotel end of september, does anybody know if there us a taverna nearby or another bar  in walking distance just in case we need a change of scenary.

Someone mentioned earlier it wasn't a good place to take kids. We took our 2 aged 13 and 9 and we didn't see them for the 2 weeks we were there!!  Brilliant stuff, entertainers just took them off our hands..Best holiday I've ever had and will definately be going back.

I just went for a week and thought it was a really nice hotel. Although i probably wouldnt recommend it for children. It had lovely food and the bar staff were generous with their measures of alcohol in drinks!!It was a very clean hotel, with excellent and helpful people all working there. The animation team were chatty and friendly and there was lots to do in the day. Although the nights entertainment was not particulary good, but at times funny. Altogether the hotel was excellent and looks very pretty at night time, but it is located in the middle of no where!

We have just returned from a week's holiday here. It was excellent although the drinks are expensive. You can however upgrade when you are there to all inclusive which we found useful. There are two good pools and a third one at the next hotel. The animation (entertainments) team were very good at getting people involved. Their Saturday night show was excellent although the rest were mediocre. There is a short cut to nearby Porto Roma where there is a boat trip to turtle island. There is an easy free bus service into Zante town, which also calls at Argassi where there is more nightlife. You definitely need transport if pool, sun, good food and a great beach (with good watersports) is not enough for you.

i have just spent a week in the louis royal palace, and i think it was wicked, the entertainment people were so good and made it really fun for me, because i am a 15. one of the bar staff offered to take me and my friend out into the town with alot of them, because they knew we got a bit bored, the hotel is really nice except you have to walk down alot of steps to get to the beach.the entertainment people made an effort to learn your name and always tlk 2 me. they were brilliant. the food was nice altho i was ill for 1 day but we think that was from sun stroke. the hotel is not ideal for teenagers but i still had a good time. rooms were nice but there were alot of ants but that is not the hotels fault. they were not very generous with the drinks, but we were all inclusive so it was not a problem really. omer (entertainment person) made us play water polo and all different stuff, but it was good. im glad i went and i was sad to go. if you are going have a great time and im sure you will. p.s its good to have a visit to aragassi.

just spent a week fully inclusive found adult food good, childrens food choice poor. service at bars was terrible until numerous complaints from clients to management eventually corrected the situation. toilets around the pools & bars left a lot to be desired.
it is way out & transportation of some sort is needed if you wish to have a change in your surrounding. there is a lift that will take you half way down to the beach or you can walk all the way down the 157 steps but going up might cause a problem.pool slide is now sup**vised.
room & especially bathroom decoration shabby for a greek 'a' class hotel.

Josh R

The drink service was rubish they charched us E 2.30. kids were being idiots on the slide. the slide was brilliant when there was no big kids. There was not much choice of food for kids. there were some good souvenirs and postcards in Argassi. I got one with a ladies bum on for my dad.I was happy with the weather. Josh age 7.

a lovely hotel but beware unless you are all inclusive the price of the drinks is extortionate. e460 for 2x wine glss of coke. kids running riot until early hours. management couldn't have cared less about any complaints.also no sup**vision on slide into pool which meant older kids running up the wrong way endagering our properly sup**vised 5 & 7 year olds. although this hotel is very clean ,in a gorgeous part of the island we won't return to the louis group of hotels. the atmosphere at this one was definetly spoiled by lack of management intervention. local supermarket cafe offered good quality food at low prices for those who can't afford hotels prices for lunch! lovely old lady taught the boys a little greek while we enjoyed our huge measures of brandy. turtle beach magnificent worth the walk. freebusinto town from hotel thrice daily is a bonus.

The Royal Palace Hotel is part of a three hotel complex. Although we didn't hire a car (considered essential for touring the island) we didn't feel isolated. The location is perfect if you're after a quiet, relaxing holiday but it's just as easy to visit the nearby towns, beaches and entertainment (as long as you don't mind the sporadic taxi drivers). The hotel is served by the lovely Mavratzi beach (see review) and is well within walking distance of St Nicholas Beach and Gerakas Bay. The food is great with lots of variety and I strongly recommend a visit (or two) to the local taverna.

Zante Royal Palace Hotel is part of a large three hotel complex located at the top of a steep hill in an isolated position. Because of an infrequent bus service and reluctance of taxis to return you to the hotel, a hire car is essential if you want to see the island. Although the hotel was kept clean and tidy, the accommodation and facilities are average rather than good for a four star hotel. We were disappointed with the standard of entertainment and high bar prices. Escape to the nearby Toy bar (run by George and his wife), or Calypso bar for a welcome change from the high hotel bar prices. Both ten minutes walk from the hotel. Turtle trip and jeep safari (with Zakfari) are a must. Brian & Julie Crone 21 August 2001.

hotel and location was superb.Rooms were cleaned daily to a very high standard.we stayed for 2 weeks and during our stay we ate from a different menu everyday. The entertainment team were excellent both for adults and children. The staff and local people were extremely friendly and helpful. This was authentic greece at its best.Across the olive groves, pass the goats to the nearest shop and taverna was a pleasure in its self to add to this idillic holiday. As a 37 year old experienced traveller, both myself ,my husband and my 8 year old felt completley relaxed and content at the end of our stay in zante.

Debbie M

Although my first ever holiday abroad, this hotel was excellent. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. An example (my 7 year old son cut his chin open and the lady who ran the jewellery shop was also a nurse) she checked him over for me and recommended he see a doctor. The hotel staff dealt with all the phone calls and getting the doctor out. The food was outstanding, the hotel room was light, airy, clean and comfortable. All in all a very nice, relaxing holiday where you were made to feel welcome by the staff. Only one small thing if you are taking small children, the swimming pools (there are two at the hotel) are not manned by life guards and are in places very deep (about 12 feet). So be careful if you have small children who cannot swim.
