Poseidon

Restaurants in Alykanas

Neil &  (11 September 2004)

Food was the best we have had on the island and we have been several times !! Marinos, Meeri, Andreas and all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We ate here on night number four of our holiday and needless to say we didn't bother to try anywhere else as everything was perfect !! That was in June '04, we have been back since but stayed in Tsilivi (not as nice as Alykanas) and travelled to the Poseidon to eat, and meet everyone again. We were remembered by all the staff, and service and hospitality were even better than our previous visit !!

Gary C  (29 August 2004)

We enjoyed the food here and also had a free carafe of wine which was drinkable. We ate early (7ish) so service and wait for food was pretty quick.

Rachel M  (25 August 2004)

Yes, I can see why it only got 2/10!!!! It was okay, but there are much nicer restaurants in the main street, try Dionnis, or Greedy Greek!!! This was boring and bland, and had no atmosphere!

John T  (06 August 2004)

The worst meal we had in Alykanas.

Emma P  (01 August 2004)

Hi, it's Emma and Rebecca from England... found this website so thought we would say hi... Had a great holiday - thankyou adreas especially - you are gorgeous!! Had great food and wine and the waiters were just great and so friendly...
Emma and Rebecca x

P.S. 'Oh dear... It was lovely!!! But too full!'

Kayleigh M  (01 August 2004)

We went here on our arrival night, and because it was across the road from our apartments and we were all starving, we ended up eating there. We had to wait an hour and a half for our food and we were starving to death! The food was average and didn't make you think "Yum I love this!" Also, the guy on the door is really cheesy and every time you walk past he's showing you the special board.

Catherine C  (02 June 2004)

I thought this was a lovely place. I found the food excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful especially the chap on the door.I was dining on my own and was made to feel comfortable. I was recently there for a week and went there twice.

Sarah P  (10 January 2004)

The food was delicious!!

Colin D  (17 October 2003)

We ate here on our first night (11th September 2003). Found the staff polite and friendly. Food was good - chicken keftedes, a nice chunky chicken in a herby stew with veg. Coke was served in iced glasses. We only ate here once as we liked to explore the others in the village. We will eat here again next time, but again not every day.

Joanne G  (15 October 2003)

I have to agree with Claire. THIS IS THE WORST RESTAURANT IN ALYKANAS. I had spagetti bolognese which had the most strange taste. We spoke to a couple who also said they wouldn't go there again. There are never many people eating there and they were actually closed one night. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Claire   (04 August 2003)

WORST RESTAURANT IN ALIKANAS - DON'T GO.
Pushy staff, rubbish food and expensive. We hated it and didn't meet one person who had a good word to say about it ( so it wasn't just us being picky )

Francis B  (29 July 2003)

the best resturant did not notice any service charge on the bill
the food was so cheep
and always give a half caraff of wine after meal

Don   (19 July 2003)

The food was excellent and the service good but I have to agree with the previous comment about the service charge. It was exhorbitant and after I queried it, it was struck off the bill. This also happened to other people in our hotel although it was probably happening at other tavernas as well.

Peter W  (09 July 2003)

food was so so but as in many restaurants the bill came badly itemised in greek which we found in most places. we were overcharged by 9 euro but they tried to make amends by giving a free bottle of beer.was there on 2nd evening but didn't return over remainder of 2 weeks.

Dave R  (06 July 2003)

We ate here for most of our holiday food was always excellent for both English and Greek dishes.Staff were very good with kids very friendly remembering which of us drank what and even gave us a regular table.Bloke on the door is a nutter would leap into the road and stop traffic if he noticed you coming on the opposite side.

Michelle C  (19 June 2003)

this was one of our favourites everyone very friendly especially to the children who were made very welcome we went there for breakfast which was excellant for lunch their cheese and bacon omellettes are fab and we also ate there twice in the evening their greek potatoes were to die for the whole family loved it there and the waiters here were the friendliest out of the whole island whould highly recommend this the breakfast is`nt the cheapest around but by our reckoning it was certainly the best for value and you got a lot for your money

Sheila K  (30 October 2002)

our favourite restaurant in alykanas, visited there 4 times in the week 20th-28th october, which was the last week of their season, so all meals had 10% off, which was an added bonus. excellent food, lovely friendly waiters who all go the extra bit to amke you feel welcome.

Michelle A  (25 October 2002)

Well love POSEIDON. You really are the best. The best food the best service and as i have told all my guests all season. SPIROS HAS GOT THE BEST BUM YOU WILL EVER SEE IN YOUR LIFE. THANK GUYS FOR A GREAT SUMMER SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR. XX

Rachel S  (20 October 2002)

The best food we had! Went there 3 times in a week and everytime we had great service and food. The staff were friendly, came and talked to you about your day. Even if you were not attending to go into the restaurant they would talk to you. Definately the best 10/10.

Jodie S  (16 September 2002)

Karen F  (10 August 2002)

We had a excellent meal of swordfish the waiters were friendly. They coped well with the storm we were having that night ,the rain was coming in everywhere but fun .

Sue H  (06 August 2002)

FOOD WAS GOOD AND WAITERS WERE LOVELY. CHICKEN BEKRIMEZE WAS A FAVOURITE FOR US. QUITE HOT AND SPICEY.PRICES WERE REASONABLE.

Leah E  (27 June 2002)

The food was good and the waiters were very friendly

Fiona S  (18 June 2002)

Lovely place - ate there three times in one week. Good food and a brilliant head waiter. Very attentive and gave away lots of free wine! Highly recommended.

Trevor M  (29 August 2001)

Best food & service in town, closely followed by La Caretta. Lady on the door always smiling and will talk to you even if you have no intention of eating there, though if you walk by, you will be missing a treat. Five of us went there twice, all had different meals each time, and all were excellent. Try lamb kleftico - fantastic

David   (11 August 2001)

A very very friendly lady on the door who even remembered us on our subsequent visit. The food is tasty and well presented with a big choice on the menu. The service is fast efficient and friendly. Especially nice are the steaks in various sauces and the spaghetti stromboli, which is enough to feed an army. The prices are extremely reasonable and we ate there on 3 nights of the week in which we stayed.

Marko L  (09 August 2001)

good food, good service and a very friendly place to eat in.... the DOORMAN has changed you will now find that its a door woman as trev has moved on.

Steve B  (02 August 2001)

Absolutely marvellous! Service is quick and efficient, the food is great. Thoroughly recommend the spit roast lamb (as did another reviewer), the spaghetti carouza, and a special chicken dish from the grill which has cheese and ham grilled inside the chicken. Salads are good here, and the children will love the ice creams. I do not undrstand why the Poseidon is filed under Alykes, as it is between the Greedy Greek and Mantalenas, and directly opposite La Caretta in Alykanas. All of which have been filed under Alykanas. Guess that is the spirit of Greece, eh?

John H  (21 June 2001)

Spit-roasted lamb was excellent. Very friendly and helpful.

Brian H  (31 May 2001)

very good food friendly staff great doorman with fantastic dress sense

Sonia K  (05 May 2001)

We like the Poseidon, it has had many facelifts over the years- generally the food is good and portions ample- try the big beans. Usually has a "character" on the door welcoming you in. Tables a bit close together sometimes.
