Neil G

we had a auperb holiday here last august. Very clean and modern hotel. Staff were very friendly. Food served at lunchtime was excellent and cheap.Pool was cleaned every day. Hotel rooms had t.v (English movies late at night) Fridge, deposit box, hair dryer in bathroom. Air conditioning was most welcome.(You have to have all doors closed, outer door, mosquito door, louvre door and glass door! for air conditioner to operate. If you need any more info, email my daughter at hippychick200@hotmail.com.

Worth the walk in the heat for the view, Very pretty, climbing plants, including jasmine. Had to wait for a seat, but worth the wait. You must arrive in the daylight to appreciate the scenery.

Mermaids - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Neil G  (16 April 2001)

Had to queue in August, but worth the wait. Ask for table outside, not under awning as it is too hot. Food wonderfull, nothing was too much trouble. Waiters very obliging and hardworking. Latest films shown after 10.p.m.

Blue Caves and Shipwreck Cruise - (Zante Excursions)

Neil G

Booked trip with local rep at T junction top of Kalamki. Half the price of Tour Operators, 12 Year old travelled half price. Lovely day out. We took a cooler bag with drinks and picnic, but food and drink on boat wasn't expensive. Plenty of stops for swimming off the back of the boat, and 2 stops for the beach. Not recommended for disabled because of beach stops, but o.k.if you are going for the scenery. Wear swimwear and shorts and t-shirts. Beware, you need plenty of sun lotion. The whole trip takes about 6 hours. We went in the week as it is very busy at the weekends. Some boats get very crowded (especially the wooden boat!) Recommend you travel the 2nd week of your holiday as you should have developed a protective tan!

August - (Best Time to Visit)

Neil G

We went to Zante in August last year for the first time and loved it. Very hot, recommend you have a hotel with air conditioning as you will find it very hard to sleep. Mosquito repellent needed, but you can buy it in Zante. Restaurants in Kalamaki are great, English, Indian, chineese, Fish restaurants, Pizza you name it. Locals are friendly! The sea is like getting into the bath. Laganas is the place to be for 18 -30's, too hectic for us! Kalamaki was more classy. You cannot go on the beach after 9.00p.m. because of the turtles nesting on the beach, so if you take the beach for a walk to Laganas from Kalamaki in the evening (takes about 3/4 hour) you need to take a taxi back as the beach will be closed.
