We discovered this beach on a wander around the island. We had already been to Banana Beach and St Nicholas, which were also excellent beaches. Although this beach doesn't have watersports, it is ideal for a relaxing day. There were also alot of Greek tourists there as well.
We enjoyed this beach as it had the added extra of watersports, which were well organised and reasonably priced. The beach restaurant served good snacks and was just what a family would require on a day to the beach. There is also a bus service that runs from Laganas to this beach once in the morning and returning late afternoon.
We stayed here in August 1999 and August 2000. We would come back again, but there are other parts of Greece which we haven't seen yet. The apartments are very clean and well equipped (including electric kettle and toaster). The owners are very friendly (like all Greeks we've met), and would go out of the way to help (including supplying a birthday cake, and running family down to the pharmicist in an emergency). The pool and gardens were very clean and well maintained. The bar and evening entertainment is excellent, including barbecue, bingo, "Play Your Cards Right", karaoke and quiz nights, and there is also Sky sports on the television for anybody who can't be without their football. We would recommend this complex to anybody with children as there is plenty for them to do too, including playground, table tennis, pool and inexpensive video games. If anybody wants further info, just ask and we'll be happy to help.
Hi Alan and family Everything about this hotel is as we say. Beer is reasonable, and they have a happy hour every evening from 6.30 - 8.00 or 8.30pm. Unfortunately it is quite a distance from the beach, but the minibus does the run four times daily as it says in the brochure. Taxis are are fairly cheap alternative. We would recommend you try and visit the beaches in the Vasilikos area if you hire a car. Our favourite was Gerakas beach and there is also St Nicholas or Banana beach which are excellent. (St Nicholas has watersports available). There is also a daily bus service from Laganas (but we're not sure where from), that takes people to St Nicholas beach. If you need to know anything more, please ask.
Michael, see our families earlier note dated 23rd May for our opinion of this hotel and the facilities. We were a family of 5 last year and 6 the previous year, including kids of 8 and 12 and their grandma. Laganas itself is very suitable for young singles, though it does accomodate families and couples too. For the kids there is a go kart track and trampolines near the Kalamaki road, about 10/15 minutes walk away. If you need to know anything else, please ask and we'll try to help. Tim, Cathy and family
