Eating at Chives was the low point of our holiday. Second time at Kalamaki and first and last time we will go to Chives. Food rubbish - over priced for what you get, poorly cooked and the lobster tail saganaki has never seen a lobster tail!!! If you like wasting your money on poorly prepared, sub standard, packet quality food that will make you ill (as my wife was after eating here) go for it - Chives will not disappoint. The sign outside sums up the place - advertising Chives as having excellent views... not a mention of the food - I wonder why?... perhaps this is because this establishment is clearly down there at the bottom when it comes quality cuisine. Alternatively perhaps it is a case of why bother about the food when you have a good view (which wasn't actually that good) Best avoid - there are plenty of other places to eat (some of which offer good quality food and good value for money - not just cheap)
Second time at Kalamaki. Food was good - two adults and three children all found well cooked and tasty meals from a better than average menu. Food was well prepared and the fillet steak was excellent (opinion of both myself and my wife). I do a lot of cooking at home (hobby chef), have done so for 10 years + and set high standards. Didn't try all the menu, but what we did try was good. Although not particularly cheap, the quality was worth it. Staff curteous at all times, not only reserving 'our table' in advance, but also presented us with complementary puddings as a gesture from the staff. Ate there three times. Lobster saganaki excellent. But again... TRY THE FILLET STEAK! (very very good indeed). Last year we thought Michaelo's was quite good - however in comparison, go to Paris - you won't be disappointed.
Stayed in Kalamaki last year and stayed at the 'wrong hotel' - spotted crystal beach, ate there (food not so good) but found that it's beach side location and quietness to be what we were really looking for. Armed with this info came back this year to The Crystal Beach. Wife and three children, sea views (as requested - you can ask for sea view as a preference)and had a wonderful time. Location brilliant. air conditioning great - able to sleep at night with the door closed - therefore no mosquitos (superb - real problem last year) I understand that the dogs that wander around on the street side of the hotel can be annoying to those guests with rooms on that side, but never had any problems of this type ourselves. Excellent holiday, excellent hotel, staff brilliant, rooms clean and air conditioned. Breakfast abismal - eat elsewhere - restaurant food not too hot either. However, this really is the hotel to stay at - views and tranquility at night, overlooking the bay and silver moonlight , with just the noise of the waves to hear, has made this holiday one of the best I have ever had. Just remeber to eat elsewhere! 10 out of 10 for location and service. We will return next year!
Can anyone please tell me which travel agent deals with the Klelia Hotel in Kalamaki?
Please help!
