Can someone let me know about Tsilivi. I am going there in July 2003 to stay at Planos Beach Apartments with my son (7) and mother. Is there plenty for children to do? Is Planos Beach far enough away from night life? Are there are any takeaway food shops? Any comments would be much appreciated.
Just arrived back today (Monday) from Planos Beach Apartments. Apartments were well located a few minutes walk away from beach and also main street. Apartments are nice but basic. There is a poolside bar which has entertainment most nights like karaoke and quiz nights which can be very loud and you also hear alot of noise from hotel across the road but music does not continue after approx 12 midnight as the Police are quite strict about noise levels. The cleanliness of our first apartment was OK. Rooms cleaned daily and bed lined changed regularly. Only problem I would mention regarding the cleanliness would be that as we travelled on night flights to Zante we had to vacate our room on Sunday morning at 10am (our flight was the following Monday morning) so we managed to rent a room (at a nightly cost of 30 euros) until the bus was to collect us. This room was absolutely awful that we moved to and I really wouldn't wish that on anyone aswell for the end of their holiday. We complained to the owner of the apartments about this which got us absolutely nowhere. The room was like a cabin box which when there were 3 of us in the room was not much fun. There was only one bed and a shower and toilet in the same room. The room smelt absolutely awful to the extent that my mother was sick all the way home. It was so bad that we had to sit by the poolside most of that evening. Be careful to check the room if you are in this situation because this room should never have been allowed to be rented out.
Went on Glass Bottomed Boat Trip to Keri Caves and Turtle Island. We booked this through Peralagos Tours in Tsilivi. Total cost for 2 adults and 1 child was 32 euros. Boat trip was not all day and we were collected from Tsilivi and travelled to Laganas for the boat which was only about 30 mins drive. Boat sailed at about 11am and returned to the shore at about 2.30. Trip was fantastic. Boat stopped at Keri Caves to allow people to get off and swim. Captain mentioned that there are jellyfish in the caves but be careful if you do go out and swim around the boat as my son saw a jellyfish swimming at the boat. Stopped at Turtle Island for a swim aswell. You can get a boat to the beach area or swim around the boat. It was a great trip but best not to book through your rep as costs are much higher.
