Are some people talking about the same hotel? I have just returned from spending two weeks at the ionian hill and read this site before I visited. It got me into a right tiz as I was expecting to stay in some dump in the middle of nowhere! The place was spotless - no a cat in sight and there isn't even a room 203! There was a small night club nearby but you couldn't hear any noise from it unless you were sitting on your balcony and straining. Its about a 15 min walk into the town along a very windy road with blind bends which the cars speed down. OK to walk down whilst its still light but don't even think about doing it when it's dark - get a taxi - it only costs 5 Euros. Unless you're single (i was there with my boyfriend) the staff are not friendly at all behind the bar - infact they could be described as moody gits, but not to worry. Had a great holiday - lovely place, lovley people and BRILLANT cocktails at the Oasis Bar!
cheap food, crap cocktails - try the Oasis Bar instead.
I agree with Tim - it was the first place we ate in on our first night in the middle of June and it was AWFUL. Never went back. We only ordered a pizza each and they managed to make even that taste foul. Most expensive place we ate in too and the service was crap. Piccadly, Eratus, Zorbas and the Green Frog are all excellent to eat in instead - great food, good service, and fantastic value. Give Afrodite a wide berth.
two words - yum, yum!
Greedy Frog burger is a must! Though make sure you are very hungry beforehand! Food is always good and is great value, though the service is very slow and I didn't think the staff were that friendly, though maybe that's because the place was always packed and they were rushed off their feet. Get there early if you want a good table.
Best bar in Argassi and best cocktails in the world! Though if you're a bit of a lightweight like Jase don't have more than two or you'll be on your back! Ken and Jude are great and a big 'Hi' to Olly and Andy. Jase is still wearing his T-shirt - will end up having to scrape it off his back. Can't wait to return.
Bronwen and Jase xx
Elvis singing 'In the Ghetto' sprang to mind. Ok, we visited on a saturday afternoon which probably wasn't the best time as there were only two shops open and not a soul to be seen. Lasted 20 mins before we hailed the nearest taxi and got the hell out of there. Think if you got at the right time it's meant to be OK but don't strain yourself to get there.
