Mon Repos - (Accommodation in Laganas)

Samantha P

Well folks just returned from a fab 2 weeks at Mon Repo. Despite being a little shocked at how basic the apartments were(it's been a long time since I last went to Greece) we had a great time.
Mon Repo is in a great location near to Laganas Strip, only 5 min walk at the most. The apartments are spread out a little but this did not cause any probs.
Sakis and Anna the owners were very hospitable and nothing too much trouble. The cooked breakfasts and poolside bar food excellent. Along with the quiz and barbecue nights. Definately worth a try!
Nikos the pool man really made the days around the pool memorable, he was totally mad and always up for a laugh. As was Gaza behind the Bar!
The bar is open until 03.30 playing music and although not too loud request a block away from the pool if you feel it a prob.
All in all I'll definately go back, but 1 word of warning ; take ur own shower towels with you.

Blue Caves and Shipwreck Cruise - (Zante Excursions)

Samantha P

Went on 1st choice day trip to Blue Caves and Smugglers Cove to see the ship wreck. The boat trip was fantastic, glorious views and a lovely calm sea. I sat on top deck in the sun which was lovely.
We stopped at 2 places, the first being smugglers cove. It really does look like the pictures, however, it's white pebbles not sand and it absolutely kills your feet if you get off the boat. If you can stand the pain it is worth it as the sea is turquoise and rather surprisingly warm and everyone just had to swim.
Secondly we stopped at a little beach village for lunch which was very picturesque.
If you love topping up your tan on a boat trip this definately the one for you. A great day out!!

Day trip to Kefalonia - (Zante Excursions)

Samantha P

Well this was a really long day day but worth it. We were picked up at 7am and got back to apartments at 21.30.
Its an hours ferry ride to Kefalonia and i'm sure if it wasn't pouring with rain on the ferry there would have been beautiful views.
When we arrived in Kefalonia the sun came out ans=d we had a lovely day. You go to some breathtaking caves and an under water lake where if you're lucky a little greek man will serenade you on the boat.
We went to a little fishing village for lunch which was beautiful and to the Capital Argostoli in the afternoon. A lovely place to watch the world go by.
Whilst on the coach you also get indepth history of the island - actually very interesting.
Well worth the money for a nice but long day out!

Greek Night - (Zante Excursions)

Samantha P

We went on this trip on probably the worst day we could have picked. Kampi where the night was held was supposed to have the best sunset on the island, however on this particular day there was no sun to set!!
We first went wine tasting where you can try as much as you like and you get the chance to buy the wine at an excellent rate. It was actually nicer than you would imagine!
The Greek night itself was pretty good, well an excellent laugh anyway. There was a 5 course greek meal which was not too bad, the usual chicken, greek potatoes, greek salad, fresh fruit etc. Ther was also free white wine all night and there was never any hassle getting the wine refilled.
The Greek dancing was pretty good, you could join in if you wished but no one was made to take part. The best dance was the fire dance at the end!
A good night but would have been better if the sun was out so we could see the sunset which according to other people was beautiful.

Laganas Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Samantha P

Well this was probably the worst beach I have ever seen, probably on par with weston super mare. The very dark sand was flattened totally with no loose and soft sand. The locals said it was because of the heavy rain we experienced at the beginning of the holiday, but I'm not convinced.
Beach also quite crowded and rather narrow but with plenty of sunbeds avaliable to hire.

Akropolis Restaurant - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Samantha P

One of the best restaurants we went to. Just off the main street, about 250m opposite the mon repo apartments.
Food out of this world, excellent menu, brilliant prices and a lovely relaxing atmosphere with fountains etc.
Ate here 4 times and were never disappointed.

Mr Dallas - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Samantha P

Another brilliant restaurant. The only place I saw people waiting for tables.
The service was very good although sometimes a little slow just because they were so busy. However when the food arrived it was delicious every time( 4 visits in total).
Menu was huge and very varied and very reasonably priced and the atmosphere very friendly.
Not really any complaints and I am very fussy when it comes to food!

Bella Napoli - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Samantha P  (29 September 2003)

If you love Italian food you will love it here. Unlike a lot of restaurants that had most things on the menu, they did really only cater for Italian food.
Fabulous pizzas and pasta and lovely atmosphere.
Well worth a visit!!

Olympic Flame - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Samantha P

I'm really surprised by all the negative comments as all 4 of us had a superb meal!
Excellent menu, good prices and a thoroughly enjoyable meal. What more can I say?

Odessey - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Samantha P  (29 September 2003)

We only ate here once at the end of the holiday but were very impressed. Lots of people where we wre staying recommended it and we weren't disappointed.
The meals were huge and if you like a mixed grill you will love it here. It was colossal, 1 chicken fillet,1 huge pork chop, 2 lamb chops, 2 sausages and covered in bacon rashers all for 7 euros.
Really worth a visit, staff very friendly and excellent menu!

Chevys Bar - (Bars in Laganas)

Samantha P

This was definately my favorite bar by far. An american 50's themed cocktail bar.
Cocktails 2 euros all night and they were the strongest we tried.
Ice creams to die for with marshmallows, sauces etc
Milk shakes and smoothies out of this world, you must try a take me to the moon milkshake, you will not be disappointed.
Free vodka jelly with your 1st drink, different flavour everynight.
Good if you also like to watch sport on tv in the inside bar.
YOU REALLY MUST VISIT!!
