Caretta Beach Holiday Village - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Tracey P

Just returned from a week at Caretta Beach Hotel. With my mother and my teenage daughter. It was the worst hotel that we have ever stayed at. The first three days there we had raw sewage pump up through the bathroom floor. The maids didn't clean the room once. They didn't evan bother to empty the bin in the bathroom. We moved room on the fourth day and had a very noisy generator making a racket every night. The patio doors which lead out on to the balconie continually got jammed shut. We had breakfast at the hotel snack bar but it was full of long black hairs. We saw cats wandering in and out of the kitchen. Although Kalamaki itself is a nice enough place to have a holiday I would definatly NOT recomend the Caretta Beach hotel. Don't beleive the holiday brochure either the self catering rooms are not really equiped for cooking and the hotel jaquzzi doesn't work, the swimming pool area is also very slippery and as for the beach being only fifteen minutes walk away it actually takes a good thirty minutes.

Mermaids - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Tracey P  (15 October 2003)

I ate here several times with my mum and daughter. The food was always wonderful. I can highly recomend the cooked breakfasts and the Prawn Sganaki is absolutly delicious. As for the staff they are all very friendly and always very welcoming and helpful, especially Miri otherwise known as "speedy". He always made us feel welcome and at home. I cant praise the Mermaid highly enough. We had great fun here. I can safely say that eating at the Mermaid was the absolute highlight of my holiday. Not only do they do great food at reasonable prices but they also have late night films and quize nights. In fact my thirteen year old daughter was thrilled to be the winner of the first prize.

Parthenon Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Tracey P

This has got to be the worst place in the entire world to have a meal. The bread was stale the waiters rude and the food was dreadful!!! My lamb chops were stone cold and burnt to a crisp the potatos that were served with them had great big black rotten patches on them. My mothers meal was just as bad she was served up with a large bowel of what can only be described as a pile of lamb bones and two inches of fat and no meat what so ever! My daughters meal was stone cold and her sauce that was served over her chicken had come straight out of a tin. When we complained the waiter just laughed and walked away. To top it all off we ended up on the loo all night with upset stomachs. What ever you do, don't eat here its terrible.

Hera Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Tracey P

We visited Hera's on several occasions we always had fantastic meals. I can particully recomend the mixed sloukaki,I would also like to recomend the starter of octopus in vineger it was surprisingly good. It was cooked to perfection. The house wines are also rather nice and the staff wonderfully welcoming and helpful. They also make a great fuss of the children. If you get the chance do have a meal here.
