E-mailed and telephoned the owner - "I AM THE BOSS!" prior to the holiday. Efficient service at all times. We were met by his friendly face at the airport. He lent us a guide book for the duration of our hoiday and recommended restaurants to us on the island. We hired a new Huyndai Accent which suited a family of 5 down to the ground!
Cheap to run - clean and well-maintained. We highly recommend EuroAlfa cars on Zante!!!!
DON'T BE PUT OFF BY PEOPLE'S COMMENTS!!! - try it out for yourselves. We had read the write-ups about the water park before we visited Zante and were not impressed by the comments. However we decided to visit and the 71 EUROS to get in was to prove a hell of a lot cheaper than the water-sports we had priced up - (40 EUROS TO PARA-GLIDE AND 10 EUROS FOR A BANANA BOAT RIDE!!) Our children are aged 8,11 & 14 and we can honestly say that we had a brilliant day out! There were plenty of sunbeds and rubber rings. The souvenier photos were only 3 EUROS each - not a rip-off by any means. Lunch again was not over-priced - normally once you are in these types of parks they hammer you on prices - but this was not the case at all! The kids must have been on the choice of 6 slides at least 50 times each (I'm not joking!!!) Having been in a water-park in Funegirola, Spain last year where we queued for an average of 20 minutes for most big slides, this park was miles better. Think about it - what would the kids prefer?? - queuing not stop or hours of fun. Again, referring to some of the comments about the staff in the park - they seemed VERY friendly to us. We had passed the water park on several occasions and therefore had no trouble in finding it. You all know what the Greeks are like when it comes to sign-posting - we couldn't find the main airport on the day we were to leave!!
There are many good reports about this restaurant - but it was not for us. It was the first restaurant we visited in Tsilvi but looking back it was definately the worst. Poor service and YES we were pressured into going in! The pizza was crap - we asked for a doggy bag but it did not turn up! The portions of the meals we ordered were disappointing - very poor!
We travelled in our hired car from Tsilvi to Agios Nikolaos near the north easter tip of the island and caught a large boat carrying approx. 100 people - it was called the A...... Express?? (I forget now)It was 15 euros each - they did not charge for our 8 yr old daughter!- fantastic. Only the big boats were visiting the shipwreck that day as it was too windy for the smaller boats. The beach is a shingle beach - shoes are a must! The day we visited there had been an oil-slick some days previous and therefore our feet and shoes had nasty oil marks on them! However it was a brilliant trip - not too long on the boat - we left at 1.30pm and were back by about 5pm.
Plenty of choice of food and drink on the boat. The colour of the sea is just amazing. The wreck was interesting but not as quaint looking up close! On the way back we stopped off at the Blue Caves and the boat company had arranged for smaller boats to meet us there so that we could transfer and enter the small caves.
We had seen the signs - "BEST VIEW ON THE ISLAND" - and we were not disappointed when we got there. Tricky to find - we were given directions by a fellow greek staying at the same place. Well worth a visit - very pretty place and well-hidden!
