My wife and I stayed here for the first 2 weeks in October 2004. We did not mind the walk to the "local attractions" but the trip to the beach / Cameo Island etc was a bit far. Did not appreciate being dropped off by the bus and expected to drag our cases from the shop on the corner! We found it fairly quiet and a great base if you liked to go off and explore. We felt the cleaner should have done our rooms every day (perhaps we expect too much) but be warned - if you run out of loo roll, you must buy your own.
Not a bad place to stay, but you can get cheaper beers down the "strip". Our friends accidentaly burnt a towel (don't ask!) and the boss charged 20 Euros...a bit expensive if you ask me!!! The BBQ was also an interesting affair where the entertainment consisted of the owner dancing around the junior pool with a few other guests...hhmmmm.
Oh, nearly forgot to mention the dawn corus as you have chickens / cockrels AND turkeys on three sides and they never fancy a lie in!
Go and enjoy...
As an Advanced diver I was just after a couple of pleasure dives. Went out with them on an overcast moday a few days before they shut up shop in October. Craig the Dive Master was excellent as were the two dive sites chosen. Could not dive the Keri Caves due to conditions but Marathonisi was a fantastic site with so much marine life to see.
There ware only 5 or 6 divers and "humping" the gear from boat to shop was a bit of a chore!
Prices are set but you will qualify for discount if you take your own gear (mask, fins, BCD, suit, regulator). Think it was 3 Euro's for each peice of kit mentioned above.
Really enjoyed the trip - just wish it had been sunny!!!
The best food in Laganas by far. My wife and I ate her on many occasions and can highly recommend the Kleftika and Pork Stir Fry! The fish dishes are also out of this world as is the house red wine...delicious.
MANY THANKS COSTAS, you and your wife really made our holidays - a truely authentic Greek experience.
Best 15 Euros spent each for this fantastic day out. We went with the big red fast boat, NOT the Delfini. 3 great swim stops but the wreck / smugglers cove was very rough. My wife got battered to bits trying to get back onto the boat here! Don't bother with a mask here as you cannot see in the milky water, and remenber that beach is pebbles, not sand!
A great way to see the island, so go do it! Get a seat on the top deck at the front if you can (there are 3 decks) but watch that air horn, it's lound!!!
