We are a family of nine (one family of 4 and one of 5) travelling to Kalamaki on August 14th 2005 for 2 weeks and staying at these studios. I have read all comments and presume that these studios are very good. We have been to Kalamaki once before in 2001 and were wondering if the building work has spoilt it a lot? We stayed at the Kiki's and spent a lot of time at the Daisy's . Also is Fawlty Towers still open and showing movies? Any feedback much appreciated!!
THANX
hey everyone,
in 2001 we came to kalamaki for the first time, after staying in argassi twice, and although we enjoyed argassi it was a different kind of enjoyment!! this year (2005) we are returning to the wonderful kalamaki for a second time. i have read lots of your comments, and my only worry is that they haven't spoilt it to much adding on more buildings etc!!
thirteen of us came on our last visit all different ages ranging from 40somethings down to 8, both sexes and all of us fell in love with the place. the beach, the restaurants (some of the best on the island) and the bars. we liked michaelo's, mermaids, fawlty towers and we also spent a lot of time at the daisy's pool bar!!! this year we are staying at the dias studios and we really can't wait!! we are all from yorkshire too, but we know when we are on to a good thing and kalamaki is a good thing!!!
this year there will be 9 of us going out on sunday the 14th of august for 2 weeks from east midlands so anyone else who is going then maybe we can meet up and say "hi" we love zakynthos and our dream would be to re-locate out there in years to come.....maybe i'll do the lottery this week!!!!
to everyone who is visiting zakynthos and kalamaki this summer have a great holiday, relax and enjoy atmosphere that is greece!!!! thanx

This is to Con...WELL SAID!!! Greece and her islands are one of my most fave places ever! Zakynthos is a beautiful island with some of THE nicest people!!! I am sooo jealous of all you lucky people who live and work there!! I know everyone is entitled to their opinions but every where has places that could be improved!! I have been to Kalamaki once and Argassi three times and am returning to Kalamaki this summer...and I cannot wait!! To everybody on Zakynthos be very proud of your island because it is a little gem, and to all of you visitors now and in the future, look after this island, and respect its people and culture and most of all...ENJOY!!!!

You willalmost certainly fall in love with the place as has everybody on ZanteMe!!! There is something for all age groups, lovely beach, the NICEST people ever, always find a quiet spot and great for plane spotting!!! Have always had kettles, fridges in rooms without paying...but normally these come as standard in all apartment and studio rooms!!! You will have a great holiday I can guarantee it!!!

Hey Julie,
Hey Danielle, Have been to Argassi 3 times with my family! We have stayed at the Krinas once! There was 13 of us altogether and this included kids from 16 down to 8! Inever saw much of my 16 year old son....who made friends the same day with some more kids who were stating there and also the greek relatives of the family that own the Krinas! Yes it is true that the sun does leave half the pool area in the shade from mid afternoon, but that can be a blessing coz it gets really hot in the summer months! The accomodation that we were given was quite good it was a two bedroomed apartment that was kind of in the middle of the complex! Looked a bit like a row of little bungalows and there were only 4 apartments in this block! My brother-in-law and his family stayed behind us in the two storey chalet type accomodation and they were really spacious! The staff at the Krinas were really great when we stayed there in 2003 but I guess things can change! Miriram and Katerina are the mainstay at the poolbar and are really nice and friendly. Can't remeber kidz ever paying for an ice cream once!
Hey June, you will definitely like Kalamaki! Haven't stayed in either of the accomodations you have mentioned but you can check out customer comments on this site under Hotels and Apartments in Kalamaki! But Kalamaki itself is a nice laid back spread out resort! It is very flat unlike Argassi which is very hilly! Lots of great tavernas, bars and restaurants, some of the best on the island in fact! You can always find a quiet spot to enjoy the wonderful greek atmosphere! It is very near the end of the runway, so can be quite busy with aircraft on certain days! But it is quite fun plane spotting!!! The beach is one of Kalamakis best features! It is very pale fine sand and it stretches right round the bay to Laganas! You can always find a spot there!! Walk out for quite a way into the sea before it gets deep! Lots of quiet country lanes if you like a leisurley stroll of an evening, but very hot in the summer months so best to find a nice cool spot with a nice drink and a good book methinks!
Hey Ray....check out White House Studios on this site under apartments ..Kalamaki!
Just to say....we went with Sunset to Argassi in 2003!! They were brill....and not just for so called "Poor people who cant afford a proper holiday"! Never had any need to bother the rep...and why oh why do people insist on blaming the rep for everything like the weather....the airport, not any tour ops fault..although think they could put the heat on a bit to get the blooming thing finished, the fact that this ot that restaurant was rubbish etc etc!! In my opinion the reps are there to make sure that you get from Airport to Resort safely....are there in case of emergencies...illness, crimes against their clients, accidents and trouble with the law!! Of course they should try and sort out any greivances which arise at accomodations...but generally I have found that by approaching the management and asking nicely things do get done...eventually!! Remeber this is Greece and things get done on Greek time!!! These are just my opinions and in no way am I saying that anyone else'e are wrong!! We have travelled to Zante on 4 occasions...using First Choice twice, Unijet(part of First Choice), SUNSET, part of Thos Cook as is JMC...and this year we are using Kosmar!!
Here I am again!!! Ate here 9 times out of 14!!! Stayed at the Apartments so was handy!!!! Food excellent....atmosphere....excellent....service excellent!!!! 10 out of 10!!!!! Well done to eveybody for making it such an enjoyable experience!!!!
We went here a couple of days before we went home on the 28th August!!! We went with Smile tours in Kalamaki and it coast 20 euros each including transport!!! We had kids ranging from 16 down to 10 and they absolutley loved it!!! Also 2 40 something Dads who absolutley loved it as well!!!! There were lots of people there but didn't have to queue for long at all!!! Never saw the kids for the entire time we were there!!! Sat under an olive tree and chilled....it was brill!!! Food and drink very expensive I thought!!! Smuggled our own food in....which is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN!!! (Their notice...not mine!!) 1 Litre of water was 1 euro 80.....6 bottles in the supermarket...1 euro 50!! Nuff said!!! All in all a brill day, great way to end our holidays!!!!
Needed to go to pharmacy whilst out in August after hubby developed a abcess on his tooth!!! The lady was very helpful and promptly dispensed me with a course of Amoxcil...an antibiotic!! They cost 6 euros....which is less than the prescription charge at home!!!! Told me tell hubby to dissolve them in water...as this was easier on his stomach!?! Yuk....but he did do it! Took one tablet and the abcess promptly burst!!! Dont think it was the medication....but he continued to take them and suffered no more ill effects!!! All in all thought they were very helpful!!!
To Jackie, as far as I am aware all rooms have air con..you can hire air con and safety deposit boxes together for I think it was 40 euros...and safety deposit boxes which are in wardrobes screwed down for 14 euros!!! All rooms have pool views....and we stayed on the ground floor which was very convenient for getting sunbeds when we got up....but there were never any probs with getting the beds anyway!!!! Rooms on the the 3rd and 4th floors have brill views from the back and the front!!! You can go onto the very top floor and see the airport and everything.....brill!!! The Dias is probobally one of the nicest accomodations we have stayed in....the rooms are very spacious ans always immaculate!!! Also the ground floor rooms were cool so we never needed the air con....and we took our own fans!! The windows are double glazed with upvc shutters so it was always cool on an evening....a god send in the heat!!! Am sure you will have a brill time here.....and Labros Takis, Nicos and all the family will make your stay an enjoyable one...and you will feel like part of the family when you go....which made us all very sad! !!! ALso the restaurant is fab....you can see comments for this on the restaurant section of this site.....Kalamaki...Restaurants!
