Got back 2nd July , after a major heatwave . Was in the 40's every day!!
Apartments are small, but we managed fine. Ours was facing the pool on the ground floor which was great. Bar was cheap, plenty of choice of drinks and meals. Pool was never too cold, the sun saw to that! It is deep though at both ends, up to my neck at the shallow end (i'm 5'7) but as long as you can swim you'll be fine!
Alykes is great for a quiet relaxing holiday, but also plenty of drinking and eating holes if you want them and we'll be definately going back. Go to the Palm Bar, the staff are really friendly. Make sure you hire a car and get out and about to the other resorts!
Just follow the signs from Zakynthos Town saying 'Best view of the island'
Quite a trek, and obviously theres a taverna cashing in.
Make sure you've robbed a bank before you go (ok, slight exaggeration) because they know how to charge for drinks. We had two cokes and it came to 7.80 euros!!
Beautiful view of the capital though as you can see.
Absolutely beautiful. Nothing but clean sand and clear shallow water. All protected too as it is a nesting site for the 'carretta carreta'
Take your own supplies to the beach, but there are a couple of pretty tavernas at the top before you get to the beach. It's an ideal 'swim stop' for those (like us) who were in a hire car and fancied a break.
Did we go to the same place??? Ours was awful, we had special chow mein - more like supernoodles with three unidentified pieces of meat, and spare ribs for starter - we got three of the smallest ribs with chewy meat on them. Yuck. And it was the most expensive meal we had there (though still not extortionate) Stick to the Greek restaurants!!
Only had a gyros a couple of times, but they were the nicest ones we had in the resort and the beach view is lovely.
