Our family of six booked a round the island trip on the Mantelena at a cost of 18000 Dr (adults 4000, children 2000) - via Manfredas, an excellent local agent in Alykes. The same trip through our holiday rep would have cost well over twice the price! It was one of the highlights of the holiday. The scenery was exceptional and we all enjoyed the swim stops. Its a good idea to bring your own snacks and drinks though as prices are high.
We booked through local Alykes agent 'Manfredas' (adults £50, children £25) This included air-conditioned cach travel from the mainland to Athens and a stop at the Corinth Canal on route. We had B&B accommodation at the 3 star Oscar Hotel which had air-conditioning, a rooftop pool on the eighth floor with views of the Acropolis, en suite facilities, TV etc. The trip included optional evening entertainment, which we declined in favour of a chance to explore, and a guided tour of major sights including the Acropolis and Presidential palace. Our guide Helena was excellent. We all found it every absorbing and educational. Before leaving we had the chance to explore the flea market which was fun and cheap! This was without doubt an excellent trip and tremendous value.
Relax is an excellent restaraunt which offers a wide range of food to suit everyone. There are excellent tradition greek dishes, my personal favourites being the saganaki cheese and the relax special steak. For dessert there are a range of ice creams, crepes and tradition greek desserts. The one to go for is the relax special ice cream, which is made up of five diffent ice creams and comes with a sparkler on top. Expect to pay around 3500dr (£7) per person for a three course meal.
