John and Joys hotel was a result of much time spent by reading and comparing various reviews. And we really were not disappointed. The owner Michael and all his staff were nice, professional, reliable, hard working people who did their best for us. The charming young lady at the pool bar always gave us an extra cutlery for a lunch when we orderd just one portion for both - we never could eat it. Michael felt with us when we were rather tired after a rush night. Stay at John and Joys will be our only choice in Kalamaki if we were to return in the future. And we hope so.
We were lured in one night after a dinner, there was somebody singing and playing guitar..... maybe the Entertainment by the Jam. We came in for just a beer or two and stayed for more than three weeks and many, many beers. Good luck to Shamrock bar, wish we were there.
We spent in Kalamaki 3 weeks and visited Heavens several times. We were sorry to find it rather late because Heavens was the best for us. We tried various food - pastas, pizza, salads - everything very nice, but their lamb kleftiko was shortly an excellent dream. Portions - too large for us - never could eat everything. Staff nice and attractive, very hard working, not comparable to czech waiters, that are often very lazy.
Milos was one of the best restaurant we visited in Kalamaki. Friendly, nice staff, good prices. We appreciated that bread was not given automatically . T-bone steak and beef steak served just as we wished it- little less than medium rare. And there is another extra bonus that Milos provides to you. Super bathroom with a large mirror that makes you look better, much better than you do in reality ( or was it the wine??? - no, I am trying, having a glass of wine just now and no desired effect at home, sorry). Very refreshing. Hope to visit next year again.
