Are riding hats supplied?
Great experience, we went to Zante sep 2013, and went to yannis stables 3 times, my 6 yr old son rode for the first time no problem. The horses are very well behaved, very placid and loved and cared for. I would recommend to anyone who visits the island to go, yannis was very friendly as we're his family, we had a cold drink in his bar afterwards and I can honestly say it was a great part of our holiday,

Well Jones family, i suggest that you may have been riding with your eyes shut - which explains why your wifes horse had to be lead, and why you couldn't see the lovely countryside which is apparent wherever you are in Alykanas. Aside from horse riding, Yannis runs a lovely carriage service between Alykanas and Alykes, which i'm sure wouldn't be so successful with malicious horses. I suggest you (the Jones') put the safety of yourselves (and sanity of others) first and stay at home. Did you try the donkeys? - or did they swish their tails at you in apparent bad temper as well?
we took our 9 year old son here for his first riding experience. yannis and his family made us feel very welcome, and we felt that our safety was never in jeopardy. yannis provided safety helmets for us all. half way through our ride, yannis turned up on his scooter unexpectedly, to check we were all okay especially our son jordan who yannis knew was apprehensive. we would definately return on our next visit.
BEST HORSE RIDING ON THE ISLAND. THE HORSE'S WERE FRIENDLY CLEAN AND WELL LOOKED AFTER. NANAS IS A GREAT LADY WHO LOVES HER 72 HORSE'S AS IF THEY WERE HER CHILDREN
Hi, my son(3) and I are going to Kalamaki in late may, and would like to take him horseriding, can you advise where Nana's is and how we can arrange pick up. Thanks
WELL KATIE HERE GOES.......HIS 4 HORSE'S WE USED KICKED AND FOUGHT WITH EACH OTHER ALL THE WAY, MY WIFES HORSE HAD TO BE LEAD ALL THE WAY. THE ROUTE.....ACROSS THE ROAD TO THE BEACH ALONG THE BEACH AND BACK WHERE IS THE COUNTRYSIDE THERE. OUR ADVICE TO ANYONE GOING HORSE RIDING IS TO USE ELSE WHERE AND PUT THE SAFTY OF YOU AND YOUR FAMILY FIRST. THERE IS SOME GREAT VIEWS TO SEE BUT NOT ON THE BEACH. ENJOY WE BACK 1st MAY THIS YEAR
I am going out to Laganas in June, could anyone recomend a good stable to visit for a beach ride. With details of prices and locations ???? hope so many thanks toni
Had 3 riding sessions. One was free cos the horse was a bit slow. I did have experience but went out with novices the first time. Tassos looks after his horses well and has 2 English guides. Hard hats are available. The route went up the hillside through olive groves with spectacular views at the top. 2nd ride was for 2 hours through the villages. Cost was £10 per hour (5000 drx).
is there horse riding in or near laganas and how much does it cost
Nana was superb. Only ridden once before and my daughter (aged 3) really wanted to have a go so we booked a one hour session expecting my daughter to be on my horse. Nana sorted out a very good natured white horse for her and one of her daughters walked alongside all the time so she could have her own horse, she was really made up. All safety equipment was provided and the care that they took was brilliant. Made a little girls dream come true. EXCELLENT
Opposite the Red Lion Pub. 5 of us (2 adults 3 kids) all beginners did a trek up through the olive groves to the ridge above the village, which overlooks Laganas Bay and the Island's western mountains. 1 hour trek cost about £10 each.
Having been a regular visitor to Zakynthos since 1989 and also a frequent horse rider with Yannis for the same length of time, i feel i must put right the comments made by Mr Jones below. Though Yannis horses may appear leaner than British horses due to the lack of available grass for them to feed on, all of his 30 odd horses are in excellent condition. This is due to the fact that Yannis worships every single one of his horses, and ensures they get the very best of care. I've never known any of his horses to kick or bite maliciously, and the routes taken are through the beautiful Zakynthian countryside. If this isn't British enough for you Mr Jones, i suggest you forego foreign holidays in future and holiday in Blackpool instead; maybe a donkey ride on the beach would be more suited to your tastes.
Is this relatively new? How far from Argassi is it? Are the horses in good condition? How many are there? Do the owners speak Greek? I'm just full of questions, me!
HI! I and my sister was riding on Nanas on our holiday. There was a sweet guide whit us,his name was something like gianno or giorno,if somebody knows something about him please write me!!!!!!! smiley20@www.fi
Nana and family are first class. The tack leaves a bit to be desired but the horses are sound, hard hats are provided she even lent my partner socks and boots. The beach ride is excellent. Enjoy a gallop through the dunes and a walk into the sea. Highly recommended.
what footwear do you need to ride - are trainers ok ? corinne - scotland
Do you do more than walk?? coz me and my mate are wanting to do some serious riding and our dream is to ride on a beach!!!
Booked the 1 hr ride as never ridden before. Nana ia an extremely pleasant lady who puts you at ease immediately, however during the ride my daughter kept on lagging behind (also a complete beginner) and had to negotiate road junctions and traffic alone. Frightening for both of us. Bear in mind that greek drivers pay little respect for horses or their riders. for this reason I would not consider these rides safe at all for children experienced or otherwise.
THESE HORSE'S NEED TO BE TRAINED THEY KICK AND BITE MY FAMILY WERE FRIGHTEND AND SO WE WENT ELSE WHERE.
Yes, hard hats were provided! We were collected from Kalamaki (and dropped off again) by the very friendly Nana. E-mail me on Tracy@timneh.freeserve.co.uk if you want any more info.
Do the places that offer treking provide hard hats as well? Louise April 2001
I need to know where there are riding stables and how much it costs!!!!!!!!!
