St Nickolas Beach Diving School

Diving in Zante

Colette O

Hi there I did my first ever dive on Friday 22-9-06  at St Nickolaos Beach Diving School and absolutely loved it.   I was a little nervous that something would happen and that I wouldn't be able to breath underwater but once you meet the team all worries fade away.  I only have one arm and wondered if that would hinder me taking me taking part but there was no problem, once you fill out the questionnaire.  It was an amazing experience and because there is a professional diver  for each  'learner'  there is nothing to fear.Tongue

Definitely worth trying

Thanks a million for the experience

Steven Eaton Re: your e-mail regarding the jumping of your DVD.  I am so sorry to hear this and apologise for any inconvenience this has caused, let alone the embaresement this must have caused you when you came to showing your family/pals your adventure!!  If you would like to post this to me I will be happy to amend the problem for you.  Please post to:  St. Nicholas Beach Dive Centre, Vassilokos Beach Hotel, Vassilikos, Zakynthos, 29100 Greece.

I visited the diving school this September and realised that I had visited it 8 years ago on my last trip to Zante! Completely by coinsidence, I had booked at the same place after various hotel staff had recommended it to me. Tuition was great. The dive was great. And the guys who run the place are also great! The dive seemed to be more involved than it was 8 years back. It was a great day and really made my holiday one to remember! Next time....doing my PADI!

Matthew C

Firstly I need to beg for anyone to take mercy on me and post a copy of the picture of my girlfriend and myself on the site or to my e-mail (cobb_matthew@hotmail.com) adress that we purchased as a hard copy of our dive on friday 22/09/06.  I think it was number 057 and was of the 2 of us swimming.  Being a bit clumsy I got our copy wet and am now well in the dog house!

We had a great day diving, we were picked up (not too early) from Laganas and after a scenic drive arrived at St Nicks.  After the formalities of medical questionnaire and safety briefing we were split into groups and had the chance to aclimatize to the warm(ish) water before our dive!

Instruction was given in a relaxed environment and we all quickly got used to the first rate equipment.

Sea life was plentiful and there was clear water and nice environment.

1st EVER DIVE & TOTALY ENJOYED EVERY SECOND. VERY REASONABLE PRICE & EXCELLENT GUIDANCE  TO TAKE YOU THROUGH THE DIVE-BRILLIANT EXPERIENCE-ALL MUST TRY AT LEAST ONCE IN THEIR LIVES.

Steven E

Hi,just wondering if anyone has the email address for the diving school,as we bought a dvd of our dive on the 25th aug but it keeps freezing in the middle, just wanted to know if they can replace it?

Richard D

My daughters Polly and Rosie loved the dive. It was the highlight of their holiday. I would like to know if there is a dive specifically for mother in laws involving great big fish with sharp teeth!!!! It was a pleasure to meet you all and thanks for being so kind and heldpful to my girls. A never to be forgotten experience. All the best, Richard.
PS any way of singing My Way underwater?

Richard D

I would like a contact email address for the scuba guys at St Nicholas. Thanks

Eli D

Just a note to say we thoroughly enjoyed our diving experience! It was fantastic and we found all the diving staff to be extremely patient and helpful! The only complaint i have is about one of the snack bar workers. I have never in my life met such a blatantly rude, obnoxious and arrogant greek girl! She had the manners of a fish and the looks to match! I'm afraid she did let the team down! But back to the real issue, we will definately be going diving again in the future! Thanks all!

Steve L

Hi John, thanks for the PADI course (which included 8 dives) We will be taking up diving here in sunny Whitely Bay. Reef was fantastic and the octupus brilliant. The number of fish on the reef was unbelievable. All the best Ieuan and David.

I thought that the experience was fantastic, and thanks to your confident team, I felt really at ease, seeing as though was my first dive. Now that I have had a taster I would definately consider doing it again.

St Nickolaos Beach is a wonderful location, and I will at some point be returing to the island again.

Many thanks!!

Just thought we'd make sure that you completely understood that it was a fantastic experience and that the tuition was outstanding, there was nothing else you could have done to make it better. I (Steph) am thinking about taking suba diving up as a hobby thanks to you guys.

Cheers for the email from the Diving School.  I have checked the CD with photo's again and still no photo's of my dive group (Goup 4 / Saturday 22nd July 2006).  Could someone from the Diving School please send me an email to sicrad81@yahoo.co.uk so we can rectify this problem.  Once again was a great day and probably one of the highlights of the holiday.

John M

hi to all you guys and girls who have posted your comments. Thankyou very much. We do read them and dirive great satisfaction from them, please keep them coming. For the people who have quiried there photos on the CD please note that we put all the photos on so all groups for that day will be there. Please recheck, if still a problem please resend. A big thankyou once again from all at St Nicholas.

Emma S

We dived on Friday 21st July in group five.  Unfortunately, because of catching the bus we did not have time to wait for the photos on CD.  It was a great experience and we would really like a record of it.  Please could you help?  Thank. Emma

Kate A

My boyfriend Mark and I had our first dive experience on Thursday 27 July with the wonderful instructors at St Nick's.  I was very nervous, so say the least(!) but John was an absolute star and stuck with me - he made me feel totally safe and even inspired me to do a second dive that afternoon, which really is worth doing as you go out further.  For both of us, it was great fun and a brilliant introduction to diving.  You couldn't ask for nicer instructors - thanks John, Mike and Ray.

p.s. Don't fall for the "can you hold this rock, it's got a shrimp inside it" line!

Kelly W

this is for the people who got the wrong dvds...don't know the email addy but i've got mike's telephone  number if that's any help? email me if you'd like it wicky_k_87@hotmail.com

Went diving on Saturday 22nd July 2006. Had great time. Really worth the money and would definitely recommend it to others. My girlfriend and I bought a CD (for 25 Euro's) with all photo's on from group 4 but have just got home and checked on laptop that have been given photo's of a different group!! Can someone please let me know of the St Nicholas Dive Centre email address so I can get this rectified.

Dan W

click to enlargeWe had two awesome dives, both where we got to see a vast array of fish and even a couple of octupus ( one of which we got to stroke too). I thought all the dive instructors were great and really nice, they all genuinely have a great love for diving. We will definitely be trying to get back for next year, hopefully as qualified divers!! Great pictures and video by the way well worth the money!!.

John W

Karen D

I've wanted to try scuba diving since I was about 10 years old- OK, so 20 years later is a rather pathetic effort, but better late than never, and it was worth the wait!

The try dive was excellent- the tuition was clear and thorough, but still entertaining, and all the staff have the patience of saints.  Felt perfectly safe throughout the entire dive, but then it would be difficult to imagine anything serious going wrong when there's a 1:1 ratio of novices to instructors!  The dive itself was a wonderful experience, even though the clarity of the water was quite poor that day- just to be gliding through the water among the multitude of fish was fantastic.  Hopefully I'll have some decent pictures on my wee crappy disposable underwater camera to help keep the memories, as well as the actual dive DVD, of course!  Loved every moment of it, and am seriously considering finding a PADI course in my area now.

I had planned to go back for a second dive, but a storm 2 nights before I was due to fly home scuppered my chances by kicking up a ridiculous amount of silt- I'd happily pay 40 euro for the second dive, but not if there's no chance of seeing anything.

I'd recommend the try dive to anyone- the instructors are very friendly and helpful, and quick to come to the aid of anyone even slightly uncomfortable during the dive- I felt we were in very good hands.  It takes you into a different world entirely, even if it is just for a short while- well worth the money.

Julie A

THIS WAS MY SECOND TRY DIVE AND THIS WAS SOOO MUCH BETTER THAN THE FIRST TIME.

THE INSTRUCTORS WERE SO NICE AND HELPFULL AND FRIENDLY. THEY ALL MADE THE DAY TONS BETTER.  I REALLY WANTED TO COME BACK AND DO A SECOND DIVE BUT UNFORTUNATILY GOT ILL DURING MY HOLIDAY.
NOW THAT I AM BACK IN THE SUNNT UK  I AM LOOKING TO TAKE IT UP AS MY NEW HOBBY.
THANK FOR A FAB DAY. MAYBE SEE YOU AGAIN FOR ANOTHER DIVE SOON.

CHEERS...JULES X

Ewan W

After being on two thomson excursions allready in the week, and being let down by both, i wasnt to optimistic about the scuba diving. But to my suprise this was the highlight of my holiday! Never scuba dived before i was up for the challenge...and for my fiance, Jodie, she was terrified about it all! But thanks to the instructors they made it professional and fun at the same time. I was very pleased about the way they looked after Jodie and she managed to do the whole dive. Plus for a bonus they even managed to find an octapus for us to hold. Even tho the experience emptied my wallet it was worth every penny...only wish we was there longer so we could do the second dive!

Big Thanks Again Guys!!

Ewan + Jodie

Serena B

Had a great time. Would recommend this excursion to everyone who is old enough. Unforgettable experience, well worth bringing the extra money to buy the DVD of the dive as it's great - think it was about €35. Unfortunately we weren't told about the DVD and didn't bring enough money for it. Can't possibly say anything bad about the place as it was simply great!!!! If you think you're going to enjoy it maybe bring enough for a redive (think it was €40). Can't wait to try it again. Thanks to all the people in the dive centre who made it such a great experience!

Ian F

Early Sept 2005. Had a 'try dive' then a second it was a fantasic day with very friendly and informed instructors. I would recomend this to anyone who has never been diving or even if you are experienced. Playing with the Octopus was the highlight. Hope to have another go next year.

Alan C

I had a fantastic time with the St. Nicholas beach diving school whilst on holiday in early September and I’d really recommend them. I’d done a ‘try a dive’ session before a couple of years ago in Cyprus. I’d say this one was better though. The instruction was very thorough, but they also put a lot of emphasis on just enjoying the dive. I found the instructors and staff all really helpful and friendly. The sea was literally teeming with fish, particularly while we were feeding them and the underwater environment was quite spectacular and clear.

The first dive was 49 Euros, but I also did a second, which they let you do for 35. They said you can come back at any time in your holiday to do a second dive, but I decided to do it that day, because I probably wouldn’t be back at St. Nicholas beach (one thing to be aware of is that there is a free bus service to St. Nicholas beach, but it doesn’t return until after 5. I didn’t really spot any taxis or anything nearby, so once you go, you are there for the day. Having said that, there’s plenty to do as well as Scuba –other Watersports, bars etc and it’s a really scenic beach). Because I was the only person who did the second dive at that time, I got to go one-to-one with the instructor. Managed to see loads more fish (some of them pretty colourful) and he also showed me an Octopus.

Overall, I’d really recommend this.

Does anybody have the address to St Nickolaos Beach Diving Center and/or an internetaddress. I'm going to Zante in september and would like to go diving. I already have my OWD so if anyone know of another diving center I would also like to know that. Thx

I did a try dive at St Nicks last week and it was fantastic. All the staff where very good and helpful

They not only teach you all you need to know to enjoy the dive safely but make it so much fun.

I also did a second dive that only cost 35 Euro and tall Mike took me out for a half an hour dive and found me an octopus to see, and touch which was out of this world. ( Thanks Mike)

Would recommend the try dives to all who visit St Nicks Beach.

I am just back from Zante. Was there for two weeks. Myself and my girlfriend did a try dive and it was great. The staff were very helpful andvery professional. The try dive was €50 each and it was a 20 min lecture, about ten mins in shallow water then a 20 min dive. You get to feed the fish and they took photos and a dvd which are extra. I would recommend anyone to do it. think the min age is 12 years old.

Peter J

Hi, I am looking to make contact with Mike Moss who did and still may run the dive school on St Nicks beach Zante. If you have a contact for Mike maybe you would be kind enough to ask him to contact me by e-mail. Pj_travels@hotmail.com

Paula T

Wendy, I went to the diving school, towards the end of May and it was amazing.  It helps to be able to swim and maintain your balance but the staff are extremely professional and conscientious.  The first dive can feel a bit overwhelming but the instructors never leave you and they are always checking your equipment and that you're ok.  They also take a photo of you but you have to pay extra. I also did the 2nd dive and it was totally worth the extra cost.  I felt more relaxed and confident and the instructor took me out a bit deeper and it was just fantastic.  I don't know of a website for them I'm afraid.

Wendy M

Can anyone give me some contact details for this diving school?? or at least a website? how much is it? and how long does the session last? do u have to be a good swimmer? and are there any age restrictions? How much? Where? so many questions! please reply asap, im going in June/July! ta! wendy

By far the best and safest dive school i've been to. Your virtually one on one when you dive. The chance to get photo's 10 E's and video's 35 E's is a great bonus. The whole beach is fantastic. All watersports were good if a little pricey, But worth a day out.

Niki &

I really didnt think that I would like Scuba Diving, how wrong was I?? It was fantastic!!! Paul is a pro at it but had to do all the talks as he didnt have his PADI number with him. It took me a while to get used to the whole breathing thing, but I had a great time. The couple we went with really enjoyed it aswell, and one of them could not swim! I would recommend it to anyone, someone said to us, 'You only get 20 minutes down there, its not very good' to which I asked them if they had actually done a dive, their answer was no, so they had no need to comment, it was brilliant, 20 minutes is plenty of time to see the fish and get used to it if it is your first time, I really enjoyed myself - so dont let anybody put you off, it is well worth it and there are about 5 experienced divers checking all the important things - like how much air you have - i forgot to look at the guage, so dont think I would trust myself to do it on my own!!!!! The divers are lovely, although John, who was our leader, was a bit of a joker - he told us the scuba diving took place on the other side of the island and 'almost' had us going - the fact that Paul had done it there the day before meant that me and Paul knew we were at the right place.

I think the only thing that I didnt like were 2 girls were down with our group and i had to keep stopping cos they constantly were getting in everyones way - they werent looking where they were going and kepy cutting me up! It would have been nicer with just the 4 of us, but there is always next year ;-)

Graham J

I was wondering if anyone knows the website/e-mail address for St Nickolaos Beach Diving School. It sounds great and I would like to book a slot whilst I am over there. Can anyone help?

Lisa R

Hi,
I'll be in Alikes in Aug 1-15th and would like to know where we can scuba dive. I have a PADI OW certificate and have completed half an advanced course; multi level and deep dive; can I complete the course with you, if so how much? How far is Alikes from Ag Nik and Laganas? Hope you can help, thanks!

Donna W

does anyone know if they do the free bus service to pick up from alykanas to go diving thanks

Elizabeth W

I was on holiday last May, and at the age of 52, I thought why not and I went on my own for my first ever dive. It was great and the instrutors were very helpful and could not have been better, even when I had a little panic. Only one problem I never received my photo to prove to my family that I had actually done it. Oh well perhaps next time. Watch out guys I am back in Zante May 2nd.

Leanne W

I have only been diving once before, how long would it take to become qualified and where can I find out more about it?

Would I be best to pre-register with the diving school before I go there?

John M

Hi Dave the cost of the PADI Open Water course is 398 Euros, the course will take 4 days, if you are already a qualified diver they can teach you to Instructor Level. All Instructors are English and very professional. Good luck with your diving wherever you take you courses.

Dave C

can any body tell me the prices to do a course at the diving school

Denise

Really wanted to try diving again this holiday and was lucky enough to get the chance with these guys.

All English speaking, very professional and very helpful.

Had a fantastic day and managed to get two dives in. As a consequence have now signed up to do my PADI Open Water course at home.

Linda H

Had read about this on the forum before we went and was really looking forward to it. It did not disappoint. Fabulous location, fabulous instruction and great dive. Inspired us to perhaps take it up as hobby

Julie B

Fantasic dive and fantastic tuition. I am a very experienced diver who in the last year suffered a nasty diving accident. My husband has never dived before and was keen to attempt a try-dive, I spoke with the instructors about my accident and they were very keen for me to get back in the water (I had given up on the whole dive scene). Both with me and my husband the instructors were fantastic, very professional and they certainly gave me my confidence back to go back in the water!...just to let you know, my husband is now embarking on his Open Water Course, and Im back in to my diving. Fantastic dive school....very recommended!!...and it wouldnt have happened if the instructors wern't so good.

Michaela S

u would throughly enjoy the dive no matter how experienced it was my first time diving and i loved the location is great you have a school of fish following you and you feed them half way through the dive you also get your photot taken.
this is an experience you shouldn't miss

Andy H

This did not appear to be set up for experienced divers...
My partner had a good try dive and enjoyed it thoroughly, the problem is that I may now have to get her trained up in the UK.
I didn't get a good dive though... (BSAC OWI) Thomas Cook failed to let the dive compay know that I was qualified and when we got there, there were so many try dives that they cancelled the qualified dives for the day.
This was my only chance to dive on the holiday, so I dived to 3.8m with a dive time of 13minutes...
If you are qualified, try to contact the dive centre yourself, before you arrive or you may not get wet at all!

Sean

when does St Nikolas Dive centre closer for end of season. My wife and I are both divers and will be at Vasilikos from 19/09/03 and would like to dive whilst over there.

Neil K

Absolutely Fabulous. Have never dived before and was perhaps slightly unsure of what to expect beforehand. After being fully refunded at the last minute when we we're both ill on the day of this excursion organised by our reps, we kept their number and went another day. Before the try dive, they take you through the equipment, tell you what you will and won't do, (on the try dive theres a guy who swims above you and does all the neutral boyancy stuff with your jacket so you don't have to worry)you sign a medical form which is Rigiorous but necessary. A couple who were flying that night were turned down from going out (Something to do with the pressures less than 12 hours before departure) which was a shame for them, but made us feel doubley confident in the school's safety standards. They really were very good. Then we were off, clear waters, shoals of silver saddleback fish and a massive squid (Well 18 inches) which squirted ink at us - Cool. 20 - 30 minutes later we emerged with tired legs and very much elated. Excellent value for giving a proper diving taster of the big blue yonder.

Dean A

hi Kim, just got back from a fortnight in Zante, i did the "TRY A DIVE" at St Nicholas beach, it cost 50 euros for the basic tuition and a 20 minute dive, further dives are at a reduced rate (didnt do any, but i think it was 35 euros)a photo will set u back a further 10 euros, and a video of the whole dive another 35 euros! Quite expensive if you want the whole caboodle, but the dive itself was well worth the experience, try to visit early in the day and during the week as it apparently gets very busy at weekends

Kim H

No-one seems to have mentioned prices for the diving sessions. Does anyone have a rough estimate for the cost - limited spends but would love to go scuba diving at some point while we're in Laganas in the 1st two weeks of July. Thanks... Kim xXx

A B

We have just come back from Zante 12 Jun 03. My wife and me attended an intro dive and really enjoyed it. The tuition was great as my wife was worried, but they kept with her all the way. Thanks guys! We now look forward to our next dive. I would recommend this to all and when finished the beach is excellent.

J P

After almost cancelling this trip due to the fact I thought I 'couldn't do it' following a test dive in the pool at the apartments, I am so glad I didn't! This made my holiday. You are very well monitored, although you will not realise this until you see the video afterwards. I thought the photos could have at least been put into a card frame or something to keep them flat. My 9 year old daughter had a 'junior dive' which I booked direct and had a 1-on-1 with an instructor. Top marks.

Debbie A

thinking of visiting zante with family in august, does anyone know if st nicholas diving school is run by padi instructors if so do they have a web site
