Diving in Zante

Sophie R

I WENT DIVING FOR THE FIRST TIME LAST WEEK. WE HAD ABOUT 30 MINUTES THEORY TO LEARN THE BASIC THINGS AND WE WENT UNDER WATER 5 METERS DEEP. I ENJOYED IT ALTHOUGH THE VISIBILITY WASN'T GREAT. THE INSTRUCTORS WERE VERY NICE AND I WILL DO IT AGAIN!

Hi all, there are a lot of questions on Courses, and Qualified Diving. Check out www.eurodivers.nu based on Laganas Beach. They run Padi and NAUI courses with most of the diving around the Keri area on their new 35 capacity 850bhp Dive Boat.

Hope that helps some of you!!

I am staying at Laganas during May 2003 & would like to know if there is anwhere that does PADI or BSAC Scuba Diving lessons & also the cost?

Hi, we are going to Zante in June 2003, our son who is 14yrs old is just learning to dive so by the time we get to Zante in June he will have passed his PADI Course. Could anyone please send me any information on cost of going on a dive at St Nickolas Beach. (he will have his own snorkel and fins).
Many Thanks
Martin.

Kim & Kerri

We plan on going scuba diving in Zante this Summer, has anyone got any ideas of how much sessions cost with St. Nickolaos - it seems to have a good reputation. Thanks xXx

Jim G

Thanks for the 2 dives. After not diving for a long time it gave me the boost to get back into the water, would recommended it to anyone who goes to Zante. Thanks for the re dive and watch out for the seahorses Mike

My sister and I dived on our second last day of our holidays. A really nice way to end the holiday. Had a big problem with my ear pressures but was well looked after by the snorkel instructors. Never felt in trouble with them around. Fantastic to feed the fish and feel them swimming around you - even if they did nip your fingers!

Sue P

Neither of us had dived before, but both really wanted to try it out and were grateful to find the staff helpful, informative, funny(don't get too big headed!) and above all safety conscious. Enjoyed the first time so much, went on the re-dive, staff still warm and friendly, saw plenty of life for my needs, a lot better than the other beaches that we snorkelled on. We spoke with nice guy in the shop(long hair, healthy tan), bought a T-shirt and the whole experience was unforgettable, it's also inspired Phil to take up Diving with the RAF. Thanks for everything. FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!! This was my first ever scuba dive and my daughters too. She is only 12 and I was a little concerned about her safety. NO NEED!!! Those instructors were brilliant. They took things at our pace. You really felt safe in their hands. The only disappointment was the fact that we couldnt have a copy of the video as the poor guy burst his eardrum earlier in the day and couldnt film any more. We were gutted. Would have been a lovely keepsake. We did buy the photos though, but a film footage would have been nice. Beach bar bit pricey. We took our own picnic. I also feel that the free trial scuba dive in the apartment pool the week before was the deciding factor on us doing the dive. I have contemplated doing one before in Corfu, but was worried in case when I got there, I wouldnt be able to do it. By having a go in the pool first (and not losing any money if you decide its not for you) is a good idea. Keep up the good work guys (and gal!)

Anyone know prices for a day's diving in Zante? I'm a BSAC Dive Leader and am hopefully going on holiday with 3 mates from Durham uni on the 15th Spetember... How good's the weather in September? If anyone needs a good dive buddy for a day that week, e-mail me...

Natalie W

i really enjoyed this dive, the people were very helpful and friendly. they were also down to earth, which is nice, because when i went diving in rhodes the instructor was right up his own a**e.

Natalie W

How is the diving on Zante? Do you actually get to see anything decent? ... and how much does it cost? Can you do more than one dive in a session?

Geoff G

My first dive - excellent. Felt very comfortable and safe at all times. Enjoyed it that much that i did the second dive later that day. This gave me much more time in the water with more freedom to explore and get used to the equipment. Granted there wasn't that much to see in the water, but how much can u take in on your first dives? Surely getting used to the kit is far more important. Thanks for a wonderful day lads (and lady)

Hi Guys And Girl, Can I Just Say How Good You All Were At Looking After A Complete Beginer.Being A Non Swimmer And Very Nervous You Helped Me Relax Right From The Start,The Lecture Was Very Informative And The In Water Instruction Was Secound To Non.What More Can You Ask For From A Dive Center.

Hi, I'm off to Zante on July 5th 2002 and would like info on St Nickolaos Beach Diving School ; Do I need to book in advance? OK for beginners? Idea of cost? I dived for the first time in Corfu last year and cannot wait to do it again. Thanks.

Norm

Dived with this outfit a couple of times. Must say that each time I've been told to turn up at a certain time I've ended up sitting around for over an hour which is a pain especially if you've been told to get there early. Last year they had lost the skipper! The year before I was told to turn up and they had cancelled the dive. They paid for my cab back though which was fair enough. Not much to see dive wise but pleasant enough and I've always found the guys fairly friendly.

My fella and I dived at St. Nics last summer and had a great time with all the staff working at the centre. No-one was worse for wear in the morning when we joined them for a boat dive, so I wouldn't take too much notice of the comment from Nick. As for Eurodivers, we've dived with them and to be honest we thought they were pretty useless. Sorry guys. St. Nicholas Diving Centre is also situated at a great beach, which was great for our 2 year old as the sand very gradually sloped down into the sea. Great place and excellent staff. Thank you all for a great day, we hope to see you all again.

Nick

Having dived with this school for the previous couple of years I was not at all impressed with one of their instructors last year. On our 1st night in Zante he was paraletic in the target bar, boasting how he was taking out novice divers in the morning. When I asked him about booking a dive he was condesending in the extreme and was also extrwemely rude to my wife before he crawled off and drove (don't know how), back into town. Needless to say I'll be diving with Euro Divers this year!

Amanda T

WOW, what a fantastic experience. Never felt anything like it! Hi boys thanks for all of the attention that you paid to me I know I was scared but your fist time is always a learning experience and I loved it. Coming again next year I hope. Dave will you be there?! Thanks again... Mandy xxx

Mel B

give it a try ,you won't be dissappointed. the instructers were really helpfull. after the diving one of them spent about 25mins with me and the wife talking about diving. safety was very important to them i should know because i am a very weak swimmer but some one was close at hand at all times. so even if you can't swim (i can,t manage a length of my local pool ) give it a try

Dave

I was a little dissapointed that it was just Follow my leader for 15 mins So didnt get to see that much. Would I do it again. Damn right I would.

in reply to anita groombridge (17 April 2001) Hey Anita, i know of quite a few places on the island becasue of been there 20 time and i will also be going in july on the 21st - i know that you can for sure rent out equipment there and they do privert dives for qualifed divers , but if hey friend went on a try dive im sure they would let your daughter tag along casue there very friendly over there and i woulnt see any reason why not ...but if you want some more info i'd be happy to help you out ;o) My email is Adam45@DeepSeaDiver.co.uk

Anita G

Rimmer, thanks for the info. Can you suggest a PADI dive center? would be most grateful

Rimmer

Anita - Sorry, forgot this bit. She will be able to hire all necessary equipment from any school, and should expect to pay about £20 - £25 per dive or less if she books a series of dives.

Rimmer

Anita - St Nickolas beach mainly do try dives for beginner divers, so your daughter will find this very basic. Some of the dive schools will take qualified divers out on private trips, but your daughters friend will not be able to dive with her.

Anita G

My daughter who is 16yrs this year has just quailified as a PADI open water diver in england. She would love to dive in july this year when we are stay in alikanas. She only has snokle, fins and mask of her own. How much would it cost for her to dive and can she hire the equiment she needs. Her friend is also coming but has never dived before, can she also take part? anita, chessington surrey

Nick D

There is a free bus that runs from Argassi town centre to St Nicks beach and back again. The dive school have a nice sized hard boat and go out roughly every other day. The dive sites include'the archway' and 'the chimney'. With viz of 25m + and water temp of about 20-25, they make very good dives with depths around 25m. There is also try dive facilities for beginners and 2 beach dives a day for less experienced divers. Go to the Wreck bar in Argassi centre to find out when the boat will be going out as this is run by the divers.
