What it is like!
We booked ours through the TV travel Shop. It was with First Choice.
Do the rooms in Ilios hotel have any sort of air conditioning or fans? What is there to do in the area during the day?
I have just returned from Zante. Ilios was lovely, very friendly. It is run by a family of four they have two sons, one is called Marco, he is very helpful as he speaks good English. There was one bad thing about our holiday we had a very awful stomach bug which lasted for most of it. Apparently it was going all over Laganas, and most familes caught it. If you are young and attractive please be careful of the maintenence/security bloke called Eric. He will offer you a ride on his moped and take you to a secluded beach and try it on if you say no he will take you back to the hotel but the way he drives (as he is cross that you said no) you will be lucky if you get back safely (I think he wants a passport to the UK as he is Albainian) He already has a child in England as he managed to bed a 16 yr old girl but because she wouldn't help him into the country he didn't want to know. Be warned. Other than him thay were fantastic.
We went on the Mantelena boat trip around the island. It cost us 4000 drachmas each. It was the most boring thing I have ever been on. The boat was so full that there was hardly anywhere to sit. We stopped of for a swim twice and also stopped at the ship wreak which wasn't all that, it stank of wee and was very dangerous as there were alot of sharpe metel hanging out. This trip is not recommended for young children or if you can't swim as the places they stop to swim are very deep. We didn't even see a turtle.
Me and my boyfriend went to the Bee Garden twice. We are mad fans of Chinese food and this was absolutely gorgous, it seemed quite expensive as the rest of the food in Greece is cheapish, but it is no more than what you pay for Chinese in England. Well worth a visit.
We went here on the first night and it was lovely, lots to choose from, so we tried it for a second time and it was gross. The all you can drink seemed good but the beer they use is sold in the mini market for 220drachmas each so you have to drink plenty to get your moneys worth. The food was cold the second time and it made me feel sick. I would never go here again the thought of a buffet makes me feel sick.
We ate at this restaurant as it looked nice from outside there was 12 of us and they were happy to do seperate bills. When the waiter was taking our order he was not really paying attention, he was sitting other people down and talking to other waiters so we had to keep repeating ourselves which was very rude. The food took ages to be prepared we were so bored waiting that I didn't even fancy it once it came out, I couldn't even be bothered with dessert. The sooner I got out of there the better.
We went to Zante on 14th August on the second day we were all very ill, we couldn't even get up. We had a very bad stomach bug and the usual stuff you take with you didn't do a thing. The chemist were very helpful told us what not to eat and gave us some painkillers and stronger tablets to settle our stomachs. Unfortunatly we were ill with very bad stomach cramps for the rest of our two week holiday.
We went here mainly as we didn't have much choice. As we all had a stomach bug we were told to eat pasta. I was fed up with dry pasta so I decided to order spagetti bolognase. When it arrived it was very dry with hardly any sauce, so I didn't get far ordering a bolognase. I did ask for more sauce, which made it alot better. Other than that it was a nice meal.
