Liked it ? We loved it !!! After MANOS dumped us at the Antonio Apartment Building Site in Alykanas we were lucky enough to find the Valais Hotel. We quickly left the Antonio and booked into the Valais (legal proceedings with MANOS are underway) The rooms were spacy and clean with fantastic views of Alykanas bay. There is a good sized pool surrounded by a terrace and a bar that serves a huge selection of drinks and does great lunch time food. Just across the road (about 10 steps) and you're onto the beautiful beach of Alykanas. From looking at others whilst we were there we'd definately rate it as the best accomodation in Alykanas (an not too pricey either !)
Our holiday was brilliant !!! Thanks to us and not to MANOS !!! We arrived at our QUIET room, in a QUIET hotel, next to a QUIET road, in a QUIET area of Alykanas. Turned out to be next to the main road into the resort with two building sites adjacent ! No hot running water and bats living on our balcony. Complained to the rep who was most suprised. Fortunately met with other Antonio apartment inmates who had similar stories, the rep had been fobbing them off since they arrived. Just for entertainment here's some replies Q:We requested a double bed ... A: There aren't any on the island... Q:We had no hot water...A:Its solar powered, depends on the weather...Q: There are bats living on our balcony ... A:They're not bats they're Swallows ... Q: We want alternative accomodation ... A: The island is full ... After a day and night of cement mixers and JCB's we packed up and checked in to the Valais Hotel. The hotel, resort and holiday was brilliant, big shame about Manos who couldn't give a damn and are now being pursued by myself and a group of others for compensation. You have a choice, DON'T choose Manos !!!
Fantastic !!! A quiet resort, lets hope it stays that way. A fair bit of building going on, and with the arrival of Colditz like holiday complexes being constructed not too far from the beach, it looks like in coming years it may get spoilt. The beach is quiet with warm shallow water; there's little shade so hire an umbrella or take frequent trips to the nearby Valais Hotel Bar (recommended). Nightlife is excellent, just a cold beer, good company and the beauty of the lights from the hills reflecting in the crystal clear sea. The local restaurants provide quality, low cost meals with friendly and sometimes eccentric waiters. If you're looking for something a little more lively in the evenings then the neighbouring village/town of Alykes provides slighly more compact upbeat atmosphere. You can either walk along the beach to Alykes or take one of the many horse drawn carriages. Loved the place and the people, we'll definitely be returning!
It was a little late in the holiday when we found this place, which probably wasn't a bad thing. A choice of over 60 mind blowing cocktails which pack an almighty punch ! As Dennis said "These aren't english measures".{P}Good prices and great atmosphere, all too tempting to have just "one more for the road"...
Not brilliant by any means. Possibly the largest restuarant in Alykanas although definately not the best quality or the best value for money. With better alternatives nearby I'd give this one a miss.
