Could have been viewed as a pile of rocks, but the significance of the 1st ever olympics and the tour guides informative but (maybe a bit long speech) helped to fill in the gaps, we had a great day although didn't like the shopping bit after in Olympia itself.
We loved this trip it was well worth every euro, booked through our airtours rep, it was a comfortable journey and our rep explained the length and stop overs very well. The hotel in Athens "Athens Central" was clean, comfortable and the rooftop bar had absolutely stunning night time views of the Acropolis. Walking around Athens was amazing, we ended up both in the good and bad bit of town, the petshops were a bit emotionally upsetting, but apart from that Athens is a great city. The second day brought a fantastic buffet breakfast and an early visit to the Acropolis with a very good but nutty guide, who can not be failed to be gobsmacked by the Acropolis it is fantastic, we then had a tour around the major points of Athens on the coach then a stop at the Corinth Canal on the way home, we cannot rate this trip enough, if you get the chance to go then do. A few people in our hotel, booked their, trip off the road side rather than through their rep and found that they were encouraged to then spend lots of extra money on a Greek Night in Athens. We did not have this problem.
Would have been lovely on a nice day, it was pouring on the day we went out and were only one of six boats to brave the weather, if you were on the middle or top decks, then you got absolutely soaked to the skin, this could have been avoided by the tour guide requesting everyone to make room on the lower deck for everyone to be inside until the weather cleared. When we got through the weather the captain was brilliant and took us to the shipwreck and the blue caves, although it was a little hard to regain enthusiasm after being soaked through. The weather was too bad to go down the other side of the Island so we had to come back the same way which was a little disappointing, my advice for this trip would be not to do it in low season.
We loved the family inn studios, they were well situated, being quiet but only spitting distance from the main resort. Studio, was basic as expected but spotlessly clean, which was fantastic. Pool nice, but chilly, and the pool bar served nice food. The family are really friendly and the bar run by Dino and Spiro has a great atmosphere. They have loads of return guests and at the end of the season they were still very very full.
We liked Castaways, they were very friendly and made a good variety of food, the Greek food was nice from the sister restaurant Illusion and the mexican I had was fantastic.
Although not serving typically Greek dishes, this restaurant was fantastic, breakfasts to die for, and evening meals that were excellent value and tasty, The Double Greedy Frog is a must.
This is the one restuarant in Argassi that is worth eating at again and again and again, stunning greek food, meatballs, stifado, roast lamb and most of all Kleftico fantastic, the service was great and price fabulously cheap for the outstanding quality of food. Worth more than one visit.
These guys were very good at being polite to get you in off the street, but food was average, service not great and price not the cheapest. We only ate here once.
Funny little man, on the door first time you meet him, but gets increasingly annoying throughout your holiday. Went into the restaurant the meal was the worst we had, the waiters forgot my starter but conned us into buying an extra salad, as the main meal was on the small side!!! I had pork Souvalki, which was the fattiest chewiest pork, I have ever had, my husband had Kleftico in a clay pot, which basically just had the contents of the plated meals, all mixed up in the pot. The meal wasn't very cheap and we didn't visit again.
