Hi, My boyfriend and I are booked to stay at Alykanas Beach Village at the end of June 2003. I have been told that this complex is new and just wondered if someone could put my mind at rest and let me know if it is nice and completely finished? I'm having nightmares about a pool with no water and concrete mixers staring up at 5am! (I've had a bad experience like this in the past and have no desire to re-live it!) Also, I've booked through Airtours MyTravel and read in the papers today that they might be going under! Does anyone else know anything about this and if it's true?! I'm really worried that my holiday will be cancelled!
Hi, my boyfriend and I are booked to stay at Alykanas Beach Village in June 2003, only I am now really worried that it will be cancelled as I read in the papers today that Airtours MyTravel (who we booked with) might be going under. Does anyone know any more than me or know if this is true? I was so looking forward to going on holiday and I'm really worried now!
I stayed at Krinas with a friend in June 2002 and have to admit our first impressions weren't that great. The studio we stayed in was tiny and I can't believe they described the room as having a kitchenette! There was a fridge and a sink and there was supposed to be a two ring cooking hob but this was missing when we arrived and they didn't find us one until two days after we got there. You definately couldn't cook anything in the studio (not that we was planning to). I did like the pool though, there was a good atmosphere as everyone was pretty young and most people were friendly. Note to Patricia: Our room was on the ground floor and indeed, there were roosters/cockrels on the farm right outside our balcony but you can get a room higher up with either a pool view or overlooking the road which is fairly quiet. The hill leading up to the hotel isn't that steep but is full of potholes and it is quite dark walking up or down it at night so don't make the same mistake as me and wear high heels, you could end up doing yourself an injury! The beach in Argassi was disappointing, it was so packed there was no privacy and you had to pay for sunbeds which were literally jammed up against somebody else's. A taxi into Laganas only takes 10 minutes and the beach there is fantastic. The nightlife is brilliant in Laganas too, although I prefered the nightlife in Argassi. Loads of great bars and restaurants to choose from, we didn't get in until at least 4am every night. All the latest music to dance to, which was good. Must recommend going on a boat trip, we went on one around Zante island which lasted all day and was fantastic, if you can get a decent seat. We managed to sit on the top deck but got sunburnt quickly so make sure you use loads of suncream! All in all, I would go back to Krinas, it's cheap, cheerful and very clean but would only recommend it as a place to crash at night and have a quick shower before going out. It's not really suitable for cooking or eating or spending time in. But by the time you get to Argassi, the last thing you will want to do is sit in the apartment anyway. Have a great time!
