Arrived back yesterday (11th May 2003)after my 40th birthday holiday. We had a week of sun and fun temperatures between 26degC and 32deg C. We stayed at the Planos Aparthotel, rooms basic (typical self catering standard)except we got 4 single beds instead of the usual 2 beds/bed setee and fold out bed, our room was cleaned daily. We found little entertainment in the Planos, but just across the street (20 metres)is the Admiral there you are sure to be entertained.

The entetainment/bar staff Dean, Louise, Igor, Mickey and Jamie? are full of life and try to get everyone in the holiday mood.

Dean (22)the Entertainments Manager is one of the best holiday entertainers going - his enthusiasm is endless and the banter between the staff is very entertaining.
Ganes, quizzes, bingo, karaoke, disco and much much more.
You have to see (join in) his Ricky Martin ("She Bangs" Routine)

Cost of beer (Mythos €2.50 per 500ml) is the same in all the hotels, you can buy the same product for 80 cents in the supermarket.

Reps will try to push tours at you on the first day, save up to €10 per person by going to see Ken in Tsilivi Travel (office just at the end of the road), same trips on offer. Contact Frances at Tsilivi Travel (see website)prior to holiday and you may get even more discount (5% in my case).

Main restaurants are about a 20min walk or €5 taxi ride away, we walked both ways, plenty of shops & bars en-route. We found Family Restaurant to be the best for the kids - waiters very good with kids. Couples would probably prefer Manos Grill (much closer to Planos). Choice of eating oplaces is endless.

Brilliant restaurant, food excellent waiters, John (Greek Spiderman/Ronaldo), Taz and others are very good with kids. We all tried Greek food (British food is also available)and didn't have a bad meal - they will also do smaller portions for the kids

Day trip to Olympia - (Zante Excursions)

Graham C

As all our other trips we booked this through Ken at Tsilivi Travel, saving €30 on the reps prices. On top of the cost of the trip you also have to pay €6 entry fee into Olympia (NOTE: the Olympia Museum is NOT open at all in 2003), instead you can go to the Olympic Museum in Olympia at a cost of €2, this is an interesting museum charting the history of the modern olympics. Children under 16yrs are free to both of the attractions. We had a very good guide in Olympia who explained everything to the finest detail, the Olympia site tour takes about 1 hour, take plenty of water it was 35degC in May 2003. If you are into history, you will enjoy this trip.

This is the 2nd time I have been to Olympia, each time the coach takes you to a "Taverna", (where your tour guide gets a free drink and meal). Rip Off Prices, 3 Lemon Fantas & 1 water €8, Greek Salad €5 etc. You feel obliged to eat/drink in this Taverna, save a fortune by going up into Olympia a 2 minute walk away. Local Bakers do Cheese Pies €1, drinks €1, local cafes also have the same food as the Taverna but at a sensible price. Shopping time is available in Olympia, the shopkeepers are over keen, if you stop to look at anything you are ambushed - especially from the Jewellery Shopkeepers - its a Greek thing!

The trip takes about 12 hours, we were picked up @7.15am and returned @ 7.30pm, if you need any more info regarding this trip e-mail me at grahamcork@tiscali.co.uk

Popeyes - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

I stuggle to see what the attraction to this place is? OK if you like traditional british food, not a lot of greek food available (plenty advertised on the menu). I actually thought the service was poor and they appeared to be under the impression you were doing them a favour by eating at their popular establishment. Kids got a key ring after the meal, but we didn't return.

Not really sure what tonia papapetrou expected? We only ate once in this restaurant (the kids wanted to go to the Family Restaurant)BUT this was the BEST GREEK FOOD (Mixed Grill, Kebab) we had on our holiday in Tsilivi, you may have to wait half an hour for your starter, but you are in Greece and the service is brilliant. Thouroghly recommend this resturant for couples and older families, expect to queue for a table after 8pm

Just read Jim Hebberts (September 18, 2002) comments. Why does this man travel to Greece, What does he expect, the restaurant can only accomodate approx. 50 people at a time, Please ignore his comments.
