What a wonderful bar! Once we discovered it we always went to round off the day....and propped up the bar all night! I can't remember ever loving a place so much, and I've been in a fair few in my time. We've only been home a couple of days and I miss it already. Giannis is gorgeous - a greek God of a barman - and made me an indecent amount of cocktails :) Dave and Richard drive the MiniMoke which is trememdous fun, they're both lovely too. I can't praise this place highly enough, and I can't wait to get back! We invented a new cocktail with Giannis - ask him for a 'Caretta Caretta' Yia mas!
We loved Mikaelos and ate there nearly every night. Fantastic food at very reasonable prices (the lamb Kleftico is the best lamb dish I've ever tasted). The staff are lovely and the restaurant is very pretty. I got a look at the kitchens too - spotless. I can't recommend this restaurant enough.
We've just returned from staying at Serene, and whilst we loved Kalamaki and intend to return next year it won't be at the Sirene. The location is a little out of the way, it's only merit is that it's close to Michelo's which is one of the best restaurants in Kalamaki. Gregory and his staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you, but the fact remains that it was incredibly noisy at night. We went to Athens on an overnight trip just to get a decent night's sleep! If you don't mind paper-thin walls between apartments, the local lads using the road outside as a drag racing strip all night, trying to sleep in a menagerie of (loud and varied) animal noises, and you don't mind loud music and fellow guests making a hell of a racket in the bar till God knows when........well then it's the perfect place for you. However if you like a bit of peace and quiet at night I'd suggest going elsewhere. On our last day we did a bit of a recce with this in mind and we're seriously looking at Daisy, Meandros, Klelia and the best of the bunch - but more expensive is the Crystal Beach.
