We had an excellent week in the last week of May. Sounds like our timing was perfect as any later and the island is teaming. The hotel was great, clean, helpful staff, lovely pool, good pool bar, good little beach and good hotel bar with pool table.
Argassi is like a Britain in the sun. Loads of English pubs and bars, we found some lovely restaurants (Blu Blu for the view, Venetsiana for the service, but Papillon we kept going back to - have the steak!). Supermarkets aplenty, good to stock up and pay the money for the key to the fridge in the hotel room. We had some relaxed lunches and drinks on our balcony. Breakfast was great and we made it every morning for eggs, bacon and sausages!
The hotel is one of the quieter (if you pick the right time), suited for couples rather than party animals.
We had a great holiday. Make sure you go snorkelling!
Had an excellent day out. Think we were lucky as we ended up with Lee who, despite getting lost on the pick-ups from the hotels first thing, managed to navigate his was around the island brilliantly, adding extra off-road trips and creative narrative (don't believe a word of it). The views are amazing, especially smuggler's cove, and the dip in the sulphur Cave at the end was refreshing, to say nothing of still trying to wash the smell out of our clothes (don't wear your best swimming costume!).
Tips: take plenty of water, take plenty of film, take factor 30, and a hat that will stay on your head despite the strong breeze you get from sitting in an open top jeep!
View was amazing, make the effort and wander up the hill. Food was nothing to write home about though.
Ate here for the last 2 days of our holiday. Food was the best we found, amazing steak, and the crepes to start were fantastic (possibly a bit too filling!). The staff were brilliant, very hogh standard all round.
Good for pool tables, good cocktail-making barstaff.
We stayed for one week from the 23rd May and timed it perfectly. The start of the week was nice and quiet, weather was hot and sunny but always with a good breeze, easy to get a sunbed by the pool etc. Started filling up after the Thursday influx of Brits and it sounds like it keeps filling up from then on throughout the summer.
Very long and sandy, couple of beach cafes, loads of sunbeds, nice enough. However, we went at the end of may and were freezing! Took a taxi (about £7) from Argassi, got dropped off, wandered down to the beach, and the sea breeze was so strong and cold that we decided to call a taxi to come and get us. It took us a long time to find the one phone available, a little kiosk off the beach with a lady who worked out what we wanted and called one for us.
There were loads of jellyfish washed up on the beach too. I'm sure it's lovely further into the summer!
